KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2024) MOVIE REACTION - FIRST TIME WATCHING - REVIEW

- Опубликовано: 9 июл 2024
- Welcome to our first-time watching as we react to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024). The next installment in the "Planet of the Apes" saga had a lot of surprising elements we didn't expect.
Starring Owen Teague as Noa, Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar. Freya Allan as Mae and many more, the cast did a fantastic job at delivering an incredible performance that carried the same weight it had in the previous films.
Many years after the reign of Caesar, a young ape (Noa) goes on a journey that will lead him to question everything he's been taught about the past and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
The new Apes movie is set many years after the conclusion of 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes. Many apes societies have grown from when the Moses-like Caesar brought his people to an oasis, while humans have been reduced to a feral-like existence. Some ape groups have never heard of Caesar, while others have contorted his teaching to build burgeoning empires. In this setting, one ape leader begins to enslave other groups to find human technology, while another ape, who watched his clan be taken, embarks on a journey to find freedom. A young human woman known as Nova/Mae becomes key to the latter's quest, although she has plans of her own.
Set several generations in the future following Caesar's reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader (Proximus Caesar) builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

Whatever direction they take, they need to bring Raka back, I loved him in this movie.
I noticed you said he's a smart guy instead of 🦧 ape. Isn't that interesting 🤔 LMAO 😂 strange how ecen the way we see them as more human the more you considered them human ❣️
From what I read there are at least another 2 movies. I'm hoping they end the series as a prequel to the storyline of the 1968 film, but I would think in the next film there may be conflict within the human side with those who want to take everything back and those that just want to establish a human society for themselves and leave the apes alone. So there may be some humans that will help the apes to get the others out of the way.
I sort of see it going the way like the ending of The Hunger Games eventually in order for the apes to finally be on top by eliminating all smart humans.
That's just my two cents worth.

I'm glad we got to see Caesar's funeral at the beginning. Nice little send off to Rocket and Maurice too.
We were honestly not expecting we'd ever see that. Really happy they started off the film with that since Caesar's sacrifice and everything he did is quite present in the plot.

The absolute disbelief and outrage in the theatre when he shouted “FOR CEASAR” was NUTS😂 I even heard someone shout “are you Fing kidding me”

What Raka said "Together strong", he truly believes that apes and humans can be united and strong as one, and co-exist to bring peace and harmony to this planet.
Like I mention during the discussion…at this point the only way I can see that happening is if both Apes and Humans share a huge common threat or common goal. I’m talking about either mass extinction or if they need to head towards the stars 🚀
The fact it was just "TOGETHER STRONG " and not "APES TOGETHER STRONG" showed that he really believed in it. It was something that Ceasar believed but knew that it isn't something that could easily happen.

This movie pissed me off with Mae using Noah to further the human cause of domination
The thought of intelligent apes and humans NOT getting along is weird to me. I’d absolutely love to have an ape neighbor or coworker
Proximus was a fantastic villain. To use Caesar's words for his own personal gain. How human.
Proximus?? Nah the true villain was Mae and just shows how evil humans truly are
@@UnfadingSilence Both are the same, we thought he apes would work together and not kill each other for power, but in the end Caesars word becomes a weapon itselfand the apes enslave each other like humans did
@@UnfadingSilence No she wasn't She was trying to survive
Mae was the villain. Proximus was a strong leader albeit brutal but for the greater good.
@@human3213 she 100% was the villan you could see it throughout the movie especially at the end
Raka was so well written. I love his mannerism and how he spoke. I hope he survived.
I think it’s cool how Caesar is basically Ape Jesus now
He was always Ape Jesus
From the moment he spoke
He was the Ape that said No

And proximus is like the ape anti christ
He basically is there Jesus tbh, this movie has so much symbolism to religion

The actor who plays Proximus is the one and only Kevin Durand and literally no one else could fit to play the role. He’s finally getting the recognition that he deserves. 🐵💪
He was perfectly cast. He's physically imposing, but the quality that's always made him SO STRONG as an actor is his intense presence, he's got a dark charisma which makes him so interesting as a villain, which worked perfectly here, and really came through both in his performance and, subsequently, the character design and animation.
Hes the guy that voice acted someone in x-men
@@Certified500kgBomb he didn't voice acted anyone in X-Men, he physically played Blob in X-Men Origin: Wolverine
I read this as Kevin Durant and thought "huh he does acting?"
@@Quzga I mean, yeah? A lot of NBA players have been in a movie or two, or even voice acted. But no, not Kevin Durant.

Eagle as middle name? 😂Damm
@@babyshark8553 Speaking Eagle if you want the full name but yes.
Mae is probably one of the most potentially interesting characters in the saga.
Her having such a strict view on humanity potentially being challenged by Noa, on top of her morally grey actions makes it difficult to decide how to feel about her. Either her actions will push Noa to declare a war on humanity, falling into darkness as he fully embraces Proximus’ ideology, or redeem herself to try and foster peace while breaking out of whatever propaganda she was fed.
Only time will tell.
I never trusted her in the first place
men she's selfish she use noa to claim what she need tho
@@MaruEvashe was smart but still a very interesting character. remember in the remake movie apes found out about guns and it changed everything. it would be grate to her as a villain and how noa would have a take in this.

Noah is probably a long distant descendent of Ceasar, due to his having the same birthmark Ceasar had, but Proximus is a Bonobo like Koba
@@momorider5661 same here he really does look like Caesar
I don't think that's a birthmark, it's a scar from when Proximus' army attacked Noa's home and tased him

Proximus Ceasar might just be my favorite antagonist. He has such a presence and such a unique way of thinking compared to what we have seen before.
Still can’t believe that the gorilla Sylva was played by the Red RPM Power Ranger
No way! That’s awesome
I didn't know that until now! I know the OG Pink Ranger played a cop in the show Flashpoint, the Blue Time Force Ranger was the protagonist in The Scorpion sequel, and other other Rangers became voice actors for alot of video games.

My fan theory is that Proximus was a member of the Order of Caesar before he discovered the Roman Empire stuff.
The whole Planet of the Apes franchise is just something else. It's a kind of movies I probably like the most. These movies realize that thinking is a part of entertainment.
The moment Mae speaks was revealed in the final trailer for some reason, even Freya got upset about it. I´m glad I didn´t see the final trailer, that moment was so good.
I was worried about connecting with the characters as we did in the previous ones, but Noah and Rakka won me over so easily, hopes up for the future of the saga 🥰
Yup the final trailer you hear her speak and they posted the clip of her, Noa, and Raka where she tells them her name.
Back then they weren't spoiling shit like they do now. It's spoiler over kill nowadays.
Noa, Raka, Soona, & Anaya are my favorites.
Tbh Mae is a really interesting character
52:34 that scene made me think of Noah and the Arc, since the MC's name is Noah, that "big flood", and him saving his apes from said flood!🤣
With intelligence comes ideology, with ideology comes war. Apes were never better than humans. With their spark in intellect came the concept of ideals, and just as humans these ideals would lead to conflict with others who don’t think as much or the same as you.

At 48:50, that is the same noise as the doll from the original 1968 film. Even in the human hunt, the same music was used.
Owen Teague who played Noa went to an ape sanctuary to study the apes and he said he found his Noa there also he credits Andy Serkis for setting up ape school and getting the actors ready for their roles and how to use motion capture plus Wes Ball the director of this film said in a recent interview that there is only 30 minutes c.g.i. in the movie and the rest was filmed in Australia. Take care 😘🏴 #ApesTogetherStrong ❤️
Raka's words "Together strong.". Didn't 'Echo' the actual words "Apes together strong." He believed we are all together. Humanity can live with apes.
Proximus is such a cool villain wish there was more of him in the movie. All of his scenes were so good.
This brings nostalgic moments, I'm remembering your reactions when you guys first reacted to rise of the planet of the apes❤

Such a fascinating idea of apes entering into the Bronze Age. I wonder if humanity will ever witness it one day
Not likely on their own. Them being uplifted by us is more plausible.
Knowing how humans are, we’d cause our own extinction so maybe apes will one day rise and take over 😂
Love this film! Love watching you guys!
“Ape shall not kill ape”
“Ape together strong”
“WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!”
12:14 props to oda putting down 4 apes on his own only to be killed via backstab
I wonder if the people in the bunker are pre-telepathic humans in *Beneath the Planet of the Apes*
So nova not only yelled Noah, but its like Cesars NO but with an added "ah" at the end
Cesar: No
Nova: No-ah
Glad we weren’t the only ones who thought about that!
back in 2017 after I saw 'War' in Theaters, I felt like the Series should not be Continued after that Trilogy's Ending. but After I saw this Film, I mind Changed. Now I'm Pretty Damn Optimistic about where this New Series could go. Noa had Big Shoes to fill, and He proved Himself to be a Worthy Successor to Caesar.
Noa's moment before burying his father really got to me. Beautiful movie
Fun Fact: the woman who meets Mae in the hazmat suit at the end is played by Dichen Lachman, who also starred in the show, The Last Ship, which also involved a man made plague that wiped out most of humanity.
and she played Jiaying in Agents of Shield, who started the Terrigenesis-Plague wich started to randomly turn people into Inhumans
@@John_Raiyder I know, and she played the dino trafficker in Dominion, but the Last Ship seemed the most relevant.
Obsessed with your detailed commentary. The fact that you noticed their eyes are no longer green was amazing. Also love that Proximus was a banobo just like Koba. And they are both on the more extreme side of the ideological spectrum.
I got really emotional at the beginning of the film during the funeral. Seeing Caesar's face, even for a moment, on a big screen killed me.
The effects are really advanced from the last trilogy. Owen who plays Noa looks so much like his ape, it's uncanny. It's all in the eyes. But man you can tell in interviews that they really channeled the actor's performance capture.
Thanks again for another great reaction!
Noa, Soona, and Anaya are friendship goals! 😁
I love some of the call-backs to the original Planet of the apes movie with Charelton Heston!!!
A little trivia for you, when the apes found that "creepy ass doll", as Ari put it, the noise it makes, "mamma", is from the original Charlton Heston 1964 Planet of the Apes movie. The two of you really, really need to check out the original movies. It will give you an idea as to where this is leading to. Great reaction video by the way.
Can you explain what this might lead up to
It's kinda hard to blame Trevathan, tbh.
As far as he knows, he's one of the last intelligent humans on the planet.
The apes have been the dominant species for centuries, all that's left of our world are ruins and roaming cavemen.
If he can help the inheriting species pick up the pieces - why hinder their progress? Maybe he can even convince them to help humans. Like how Maurice looked after Nova.
Tbh you're kinda right
Proximus definitely became my favorite pota villain after getting to watch this movie twice in theaters like whats not to like about him? Hes a cult leader twisting the words of basically a historical idol for his own good and + hes a Roman fanboy(also he even has such a awesome death fall imo)
I loved this movie. It was magnificent, even tho Caesar is dead but WOW. Tbh this is one of the best movies in 2024
I read a theory that the reboot films take place in a continuity that includes the original film, but ignores at least Escape, Conquest, and Battle (due to the time travel involved, but it could end up ignoring Beneath as well because the mutants were not well received) and that the ending of Kingdom sets up the nuclear war that destroys the Statue of Liberty.
There were a lot of references from the original movie, from using the original score and the scarecrows crusified and the speaking human doll.
This was literally the first Planet of the Apes movie that me and my family ever saw in theaters!! It even has the vibe of Maze Runner and Star Wars: A New Hope ✨
Noa and Raka’s mentor and protege relationship in film gave me a similar vibes to the dynamic between Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker and Alec Guinness’s Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: Episode 4 A New Hope (1977).
I know, right!?😂❤
Another great reaction! The modern "Planet of the Apes" saga honors the original movies and makes them fresh. Each movie had a throwback to the classics, whether it's the character names or certain scenes, like the apes hunting humans. Fun fact: Proximus Caesar is played by Kevin Durand, who was one of the doomed thieves in "Abigail." Maybe you could react to the old-school movies from the 60s & 70s. 🙈🙉🙊
Your "Ready Player One" & "Jurassic Park"reactions were as fun as the movies themselves! Other Steven Spielberg movie suggestions: "Duel," "The Sugarland Express," "Catch Me If You Can," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "BFG" or "The Fabelmans."
The fact that Noah resembles Ceasar in both looks and his bald patch birthmark was to, an awesome discovery.
Proximus is like a Thanos type character. His goal to further advance apes and keep humans away from power isn’t wrong tbh. But the way he’s going about it isn’t right. And he has a bit a selfishness too. I agree humans would only build themselves back up and like Cesar once said “humans will not forgive”. Unlike most apes in this time who don’t know how humans once treated them, Proximus does and that’s why he’s also scared of them getting that technology.
It's like the enemy ape clan got ahold of an old Xbox 360 and a copy of Fallout: New Vegas and were like, "Caesar's Legion? I like this, Caesar's Legion".
I can't think of any other 4 consecutive movies that keep consistently good quality. Here's to the rest of this second trilogy!
Fun fact: the director, Wes Ball, also made The Maze Runner trilogy. It explains why this movie has such good photography and camera angles. If you guys haven’t seen it, I recommend you react to them.
I'm so glad that this movies even exist.
LFG!!!! I’m so hyped for this reaction… I loved this movie in the theaters…Dolby Atmos was insane
Gotta love Dolby Atmos! With the incredible sound design this had it sounded absolutely amazing ❤️
It would have been truly epic if Noa is the long-lost descendant of Caesar and also if Raka is the long-lost descendant of Maurice.
They might not be blood related but Noa is slowly following Caesar's true footsteps, can't wait to see what kind of leader he becomes!
Maurice didn’t have kids but with noa being Caesar’s descendant is very possible with him having the birth mark that Alpha (Caesar’s father) and Caesar had, and also the fact that he was smarter than all the other apes just like Caesar and Alpha were
Tbh i could see noa becoming a villain for no reason but also not
31:24 those were like some hides placed there just to scare humans, they were also seen in the original planet of the apes which is a nice throwback.
What a legit way to start my morning ha!
Good morning! ❤️
Good morning and hope everyone has a great day
Its somewhat trippy to see this
Its 16:47 here
I literally watched it for the first time yesterday I can honestly say it was good
Can't wait to see what else they come up with for the saga 😁
I’d love to believe that the humans will just establish communication and try to rebuild a space for themselves, but I have a bad feeling that they’re going to try and reclaim everything even from the ape clans that only want peace. I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the movies in this saga, I’m glad it didn’t end with Caesar’s story
Love your comments and analysis on these Planet of the Apes films!
i watched FURIOSA & this on a 24 hour gap in theatre...
"What a lovely Day" 🔥
"what a wonderful Day"❤
The whole scene with Proximus at the dinner table with Noa and Mai was my favorite scene of the movie. A great use of dialogue and the jump in special effects standout
I think in the ending Noa see through telescope and think apes live in other planet he see.
WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!
You got on this quick!
Thank you for watching! Hope you enjoy 😃❤️
I think Caesar was a "founder" while Noa was a "builder" character. Noa is needed because human technology is much more advanced than that of monkeys, so monkeys must somehow develop very quickly. There is potential for this in Noa, but it was no longer there, for example, in Proximus. The scene when Nao says about the telescope that it collects the light or repairs the lightning weapon, these are all things that indicate that he has a special talent for technical technologies, which the monkeys may need later on. Noa can help the monkeys through a new technological development.
I watched this film last night only to be treated to your reaction today. OH WHAT JOY!
This rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise is something else. It's four for four now and I was worried that after a perfect conclusion to Ceaser's Trilogy, they are just going to drag it out with further sequels. So happy that Kingdom turned out to be great.
It was awesome watching it again with you two and I love the idea of having a story where mass extinction is the main problem and Apes and Humans have to work together to survive. I hope we get that film one day.
Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was on the fence on how it would be since it has been so long since the trilogy, and thanks to you guys I will for sure be watching it entirely. The story, character design, and scenery was just amazing. you guys rock and hope you have an amazing day 🤘
I'll admit when I heard they were doing another one I was sceptical, because the "original" trilogy is SO GOOD it was a danerous move, but when I heard it was Wes Ball, director of the awesome Maze Runner movies, halming this, I breathed a deep sigh of relief. He DID NOT disappoint here, either.
I think proximus is part of Kobas bloodline. Because they are the same apes so I feel that they are in The same family. Koba and Proximus are both great villains with great reasons. And you get where they are going. Great movie and reaction
I love th movie, it was qs amazing but I wanted Noah to say Proximus at last fight that "U ARE NOT CEASUR, ape don't kill ape"

History has shown us that humans do not play well with others and we don’t like sharing (even among our own race). That along with the shoot first ask questions later mentality whenever we don’t understand/are fearful does not give me much hope of co-existing. As Denise says there will always be individuals who want more; more power and more control…
What a wonderful day. Thanks for reacting to Kingdom so fast i wasn’t expecting a reaction to it so soon because it just came out digitally yesterday. I’ve already seen this film 5 times now including 2 at the Cinema, 1 at home and 2 reactions to it.. I love this movie and i’m looking forward to the future of this franchise as its shining like a beacon already. Kingdom is a slow burner abandon Caesars funeral always makes me cry. I love that we get to see Rocket, Maurice and Cornelius again even if it’s just a couple of minutes. I love the Orangutan called Raka. I wonder if he’s related to Maurice in some way? Noa is great too, he’s not at Caesars level yet because i think he’s only blue eyes age and still finding his way in the world but he has potential and i’d love to see him again. Noa is so like Caesar he has the birthmark etc. I’m sure he’s a descendant of Caesars though don’t know for sure. I love the necklaces with the window symbol. I'm convinced Noah looks into that telescope and sees The Icarus/Liberty 1 orbiting earth, like a nice neat circle looping back around to Charlton Heston landing 👍 we know it's there because the launch is mentioned on the news in the Franco movie and seen in a newspaper in one of those films too.
Brilliant idea I never thought about that but I love this theory.
Proximus forced the apes to come together maybe because he sees humans for what they truly are. Eager to take control over everything and dominate other species. Just like Koba, he doesn't want to take any chances.

The first time I realised in the disconnect of strength between a human and a monkey was as an Australian 18yr old travelling through Texas in 2001. This family I met and stayed with for awhile ran a licenced exotic pets business and had a spidermonkey in a cage in their hallway. I once stopped in an attempt to form a bond and it suckerpunched me with the same force as an enraged 13yr old boy yet it only weighed a few pounds. The only time I was ever assaulted in the USA. haha

The bodys hanging up are scarecrows which are seen in the 1968 original, also there are music cues echoed in the score of this movie from the original when the apes attack humans.
I think this will lead to all out war between apes & humans & lead to the creation of the forbidden zone, currently it was a plague that caused humanity regression but the survivors in these bunkers i reckons have weapons that will obliterate the planet leading up to the state of how the world looks when Taylors ship crash lands.

When I saw this in the theater? I didn't think it would be as good because Caesar wasn't in it? But it started with Caesar's funeral? Caesar's digital fingerprints are all over this movie, in some ways it's as good or better that the apes can talk. How in Caesar's name? Can they do that? LOL

I got a crazy theory about Proximus the way he acts behaves and uses other apes is no doubt same as the ancient Roman Caesar who used prisoners to build and to work and desire a kingdom under his rule and had a army devoted to him but I know that he was a fanatic for the ape caesar
Criminal that none of these films won for Best VFX.
The real villain of this film was Mae, from the beginning, who noticed? Proximus Ceasar at the end was right by telling that humans are not reliable.
Yes, and the people who are reacting to this film still don't realize that. Humanity is a bag of trash, a bad being, truly, it commits brutal and barbaric crimes, it kills for pleasure and much more, Proximus never killed any monkey for pleasure, and they did not live imprisoned as humanity imprisons monkeys, they were taken tied up, they were later released, given food, water and everything else.
