When he took the doc from Hilltop and gave the "your brother's dead" look followed by him saying "Gelatoooooo" I cried laughing and kept rewinding that bit 😂
Can you imagine how worse it would have been had Simon killed Negan instead of the other way around? Jeez. He's like The Mountain from GoT only much smaller, and smarter, but equally brutal and evil.

Negan is evil bro. If you've only seen a few clips here and there maybe he's good but watching the show, he's just reprehensible. And Simon is way more fun to watch, Negan's kinda cringe even if he has good scenes with Carl and stuff, he's still good but I feel like Steven Ogg is a better actor at least in the Walking dead than thomas for began. Or maybe it's just how began is written. Simon as a character though isn't that deep which is why negan is better

Dwight straight up removed all the mysterious seemingly magic power of the saviors by divulging all the secrets to Rick. Either one of them Negan could have honestly dealt with. But both was too much. It's a true testimony of Negan's genius and dominance that it took all three communities united and two top-level betrayals (not to mention Eugene's sabotage) to sink him. In the end I almost felt like his defeat wasn't earned. They didn't out smart him or fight harder than him or anything. He just got hit with a perfect storm.
@@silasg3650 But I think it makes sense that he got hit like that. His use of fear tactics and intimidation make people complicit and subservient until they see maybe there is hope. His methods help create the conditions for the perfect storm.
@@korolevpiano7794 that's one way of seeing it. I could argue the opposite. He gave too much freedom to Simon. Too much leniency to Gavin. And he trusted Dwight too much. He also didn't monitor Rick and Alexandria enough. Like, Rosita SHOT AT HIM. She got a cut on the face and Eugene gets recruited to make bullets. He only had someone killed when Rosita persistently lied to him about where the bullets come from. A fear mongering tyrant would have lead with killing someone as punishment and then began interrogation. The only time Negan's regime was excessively brutal was when Simon was given autonomy. He always stepped over the line. He even stirred the pot among other officers. Dwight had emotional motivation for his actions, but his situation was complicated and no matter what, it would have sucked. They needed meds. Negan had meds. If Negan wasn't how he was then there likely wouldn't have been any meds and they'd be screwed. They broke his rules and paid a fairly lenient price, all things considered. If Negan had encountered Rick like he encountered Ezekiel, peacefully, then I think things would have gone very different and people would have ended up much happier. I suspect that Negan would gladly add Rick's group to his band of mercenaries. And I suspect many of the core group would actually respect Negan's rules and be impressed by his economy. Unlike the original residents of Alexandria, they know what the world is like and what often needs to be done. Negan only ended up on their bad side because they ended up on his bad side and he has no tolerance for that and they were too stubborn to move on once he'd killed one of theirs. I love the whole conflict because it demonstrates how wars don't require a bad guy. Just two opposing ideologies or even fairly similar ideologies in direct competition. I have always seen Negan as a caricature of where Rick was headed as he became more ruthless. And that's what makes watching Rick fight him so interesting. And it makes Negan's redemption believable since he never intended to be a bad guy.
1:09 Negan didn’t understand how Simon felt until it happened to him. Spoiler, in Season 11 Negan talks to Maggie about loss and protecting their family. He then tells Maggie he wishes he killed every single one of them; just as Simon’s suggesting in this scene.
From an objective standpoint, Simon was right. Rick and co were never going to get with the program. Simon knew that if you give your enemy constant opportunities, they will luck up against you. This happened as Negan was outsmarted by Eugene. He gave Rick and his people too many opportunities to get lucky. Then he lamented to Michonne about losing a kingdom. Then admitted to Maggie that he wished he killed them all. Negan outsmarted Rick every step of the way. His downfall was trusting the enemy.

To Negan, beating Rick was proof that his way of doing things was the only way to actually survive in the world while still being a “decent” person. Just killing them all would prove Simon’s way of doing things was right, which is exactly why Negan let him take his shot in a one on one fight after he betrayed him once everything was going to shit. Negan was living a hollow existence and deep down a part of him wanted to lose to Rick, so giving up what little humanity he had left to win by becoming a bloodthirsty shoot-first ask questions later psycho like Simon wasn’t very appealing

Simon was definitely a Physical Ed teacher before all this, with a penchant for war history and philosophy, probably read a lot of Julius Ceaser and Socrates.
Not saying Negan's method was perfect, but Negan did state that not one of his people died while he was in charge until Rick came along. And Negan seemed to know all of his people's names. He even knew one of his own had a newborn baby at one of his outposts. Given this is the apocalypse, Negan had a great track record for keeping his people alive and cared for.

One of the underrated aspects about Simon's character which informs the viewer as to who he may have been prior to the outbreak is the language he uses. He's articulate. "Transgressional acknowledgement"...."Restitution"....."Let's get candid"...."Let me extemporaneously express my doubts"..."Shall we locate our benefactor"...."we must expunge them"....these are not the words or vocabulary of some dumbass street thug. He's an educated man. He speaks like how I imagine an English professor would, or someone who is a professional writer.
4:34 - I love how there isn't a single shot of any blood, shots, bodies falling - nothing. The sheer audio and reaction on their faces is enough for this scene to be so captivating and terrifying.
Or somehow survived and was the villain against Alexandria where they had Negan in jail then introduce Alfa it be a more entertaining season 9-10 with but that’s just me

Yeah I'd see trevor as a Leader however. I think he will want to run with Michael and franklin and maybe Ron and floyd if they ain't dead yet, I think Michael would take authority and he would want to make a community.
Funny thing is if Negan actually listened to my boi Simon and eliminated the traitors the saviors would have prevailed imo...The saviors had the numbers to take out each group before they could band up together and It would have been really interesting if like Simon said (no pun) they would have moved on to find other communities...but hey Im the evil prince Vegeta so im a little biased towards Trevor...I mean Simon!!
