He actually did start turning down scripts on account of that. He did play a good guy as a policeman in the sitcom Protect & Surf, but it was not picked up. Davin, beg to differ. Downey was part of the new batch of actors from the 80s who had superior skills over others. Before Iron Man, he was in great movies that were better with him in them. Chaplin showed the chops way before, even Less Than Zero, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Natural Born Killers, Weird Science were distinctive characters that put him up there for people. Bruce Springsteen's kid actually went to my alma mater and all I could think is that I hoped a version of the end of this scene happened at least once during his four years there.

Wonder how this scene might be reworked if this movie were re-made. Would they just skip it totally or would they figure some other reason for a crowded hall of students before classes began? Wouldn’t be a registration scene, that’s for sure
I always thought it was hilarious that they knew who that chick was. It wasn't high school. It was supposed to be a large college campus. How the hell would they know that chick's name is Valerie Desmond? hahah!!
That’s a good point actually, I never thought of that! Gotta suspend disbelief I suppose haha, they may very well could’ve went to high school together and just happened to end up at the same college too, it was just never established, perhaps🤷🏻♂️ who knows
The late 80s must've been a frustrating time for William Zabka, a new script would arrive and he'll think "God, I'm playing another douchbag!"

Cobra Kai never dies.

His high voice makes him sound like a dweeb though. He acted like a typical desperate schoolboy when he played Jack in European Vacation.
Damn RDJ put Zabka in his place! So ruthless!
Man a feather robe is all Zabka needed to complete his Ric Flair impersonation. Had those "you crossed the wrong man" eyes down perfectly.
Chaz was a skeez! His cramps on the diving board was the best! William Zabka plays a great mean guy.
Even back then RDJ just had a certain presence about him. It’s no wonder he became one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.
