@robbyddurham1624 You could say that Sam's character was a traumatized Vietnam vet which was why it was such a touchy subject for him, especially when someone told him inaccurate information on it (the girl's response on why US troops were pulled out). But Sam got just as set off when talking about the Korean War with Rodney, was Sam a veteran of that war too? You can believe Vietnam, especially if he went out there during the last years of it (1973-1975), but he looked too young to have been at least 18 at the time of the Korean War since that was the early 1950s
This movie scene is pure Genius... the Writing, Kinison and Dangerfield, the pacing and the steady build up... It's just amazing. If there was ever a movie scene that I could have been an extra in... This would be the one I'd want to have.
I didn't know who Sam Kinison was when I saw this at the theatre. Me and everyone else were gasping for air we were laughing so hard. Then a couple of years later I had a College instructor who had the same temperament who lost it one day in the middle of a class and went completely bananas on one guy. Now, whenever I flash back to that moment, I can't help but laugh and think about this scene.
Once I finish my 20 years in my current dual military and law enforcement jobs, and qualify for my pensions in my mid-50s, I’m seriously hoping to start a second career as a history teacher. I only hope when that day comes I can care as deeply and teach as passionately as this fine professor.
I remember seeing this movie as a kid. This was the first time I ever saw Sam or Rodney in performance. I had never heard their stand up before this. This movie made me really enjoy seeing them in other movies and stand up they did. R.I.P. Sam and Rodney.
I had Political Science professor in college like this. His voice would change whenever he said “communism” or “military industrial complex”. Made the class a lot of fun.
@@kirosuks Yeah, so were every single Pope of the Catholic Church and I assure you every one of them is in Hell right now. And the current one has a very special place reserved for him.

I was 12 when I saw this. I immediately bought Kinison's album. "You used me! You never loved me! I hope you slide under a gas truck and taste your own blood! DIE! DIE! DIE! I want my records back! !!"
@TheHound I saw him live 4 times when he was working this bit before it came out on the album. He would live call from someone in the audience. If it was scripted, they did an excellent fucking job of it. Every time I saw it, it turned out completely different and funny as hell. One of the girls snarked back. Sam called her and said, "Hey, I'm sitting here with Jared and about 5000 of his friends (or whomever, I don't remember his name)..." and she immediately cut in with "Tell Jared to fuck himself" and hung up. It was funnier than all the rest. I can't say or not whether or not they planned it, but the look on Sam's face was great. He dropped the act, looked down at Jared (??) calmly said, "I think you're really just better off without this one, brother," and then gave that evil little giggle he had. We fell out.
@@ered203 I had gotten free tix from Sam's entourage to a show and we were right in front. He asked me who broke my heart and my first thought was "Holy shit, he's going to call her". Fortunately he only said she was a "FUCKING BITCH!" and then called the ex of the next guy he asked 😆

Fun fact, Sam was a preacher before he became a comic. When he does his yelling, that's an old preacher trick where he doesn't actually yell, he modulates his voice higher and pushes a button on the mic to amplify his voice. It's to save his voice giving multiple sermons on a daily basis.
honestly dude, rewatch this scene and if you're familiar with the fundamentalist or Pentecostal scene, his mannerisms are super familiar to those of us who sat under such preaching. @@ConcernedResident_GiantStack Oh yes, I can definitely see him as an evangelical preacher. That is exactly where he got his style from.
