    This is a solid repair for the 3100 V6, as it doesn’t blow a head gaskets. However, the 3.4 L engine is notorious for blowing head gaskets, and at this point you might as well replace the head gaskets while you’re in there.

    I am doing this on my 04 Impala with 260K miles on it because of a collapsed lifter. I also am losing coolant but it is not going into the oil. I removed the push rods with my channel locks hooking it on the rockers and pulling them down until I could get push rods out. Video is a big help for sure. Thank you for making these how to videos!

    Why wouldn't you suggest to replace the thermostat while it was apart? So much easier to do and it probably should be done, for the 10$ and few minutes to do.

      Same reason they tell you to overtorque the upper manifold they are idiots.

    You guys are great! Can't thank you enough for these videos. 3/4 of the way done this job myself. Thank you.
    Just a word of advice to anyone starting this. Get the entire gasket kit from 1A auto. I made more trips to the part store for O rings, and gaskets than I needed to. If I would've seen this video before hand, and purchased the kit from 1A auto I would've had this done all in one day without an issue.

    They may have it listed, bit I didnt see it, very important, when tightening the lower manifold bolts, there is a specific sequence that has to be done. The 4 upper studs must be done first to insure manifold seats on gaskets correctly, Google or purchase manual for correct sequence

      also they really should do better cleaning job on seats for gaskets and I personally remove fuel rail easier than risking damage to injectors

    So, when tightening the rockers after putting the push rods back, there's no need to rotate to TDC?

    Great videos I'm working on mine right now . Do I have to put new bolts on the manifold?

      You can re-use the original ones if they're in good shape. Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

    When you apply RTV gasket maker between the gaskets, you say to let it set, does that mean let dry before replacing the lower intake manifold

  • @rdvalla

    The manufacturer recommends the rocker arms tightened to 14 ft pounds.

    I have noticed some people clean the fuel injectors and replace the fuel injector o-rings. Do you think this is a good idea, or not really worth it? And also, I saw you put a new upper intake on the car, is there any particular reason for this, I'm assuming most people can reuse their old upper intake manifold. Thanks. Great videos guys!

    How long did you let the silicone sit before you sat the lower intake on it?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  6 лет назад

      +Daniel Jackson Every silicone is different. You want to check the directions on the back of the tube to make sure you install it correctly! 1aauto.com

      Click on "Installation Instructions" below the image of the parts (it's in the blue ribbon). That will show you a write up of all the steps including most of the torque specs. You may have to convert from Newton meters to to foot pounds. Thank you for watching. Please let us know how the repair comes out! 1aauto.com?RUclips&CTA%20Comment&ATony 888-844-3393
