    Those happen to be rockers. The lifter's are on the other end of the push rods. The lifter's are actually in-between the cam and the push rods.

      If you mix up the long and short push rods, you will bend a valve and ruin the heads. Might want to explain that before you go to the next step.

    Great video. Very nice job of explaining. My one question is, what if I chose to use new push rods? The push rods that are currently in are scared up with pitting on a couple of them. I"m not comfortable putting them back in. 2004 Impala 3.4 - 140K miles.

    Your lucky this worked because what happens if there’s a lot of pressure on the spring you can pull the threads out it should be done in firing order to make sure the lifters are all the way down when you torque them and it’s better if the lifters are bled down to

    My 1999 chevy venture van had work done on head gasket, valve, intake gasket, etc... it tapped really alot when I picked up the van. Then ac compressor broke. I now leave temp knob turned on heat & it tapped less. Over the months I've added a few drops of oil treatment when oil level goes down tiny bit. ( It taps loud now only when the engine is at full warm temp. )

    When you torqued the rocker bolts, were the lifters empty or pumped up with oil before you torqued them?

    • @187onasimp
      @187onasimp Год назад +1

      Doesn't matter. The rocker arms are set in place. There's no valve lash to adjust. Probably the only thing GM did right on this motor. You just set them in and torque them down.

    • @michaelhitchcock6392
      @michaelhitchcock6392 Год назад

      I thought not. Thanks for your reply. Turns out my oil pressure was one third it’s suppose to be and doesn’t increase much past 22 psi revving it. I had changed blown head gaskets with new lifters but since the oil pan filled with coolant crude, I bet the oil pickup screen is clogged so I bought new oil pump & pickup tube with new screen then found out the nightmare of removing the oil pan. I haven’t done it yet. I still have to buy an engine hold bar.

    Hey great video. You said replacing lifters and pushrods but you really meant rockers. I just did new lifters and gaskets and timing chain on a 2006 Equinox with the 3.4L motor. However the lifter tick is still apparent even after I primed them with oil before installing. I just can't figure out why the ticking is still there. Just wondering if you had any lifter noise after your install and what else do you think could cause the lifter ticking.

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  2 года назад

      I didn’t have any lifter noise and I am not too sure what you could do

      I had this problem a few months ago after a new headgasket on a 3.1L. I didn't do a good job flushing old milkshake out, and had valve tick on first start. Changed oil after about 200 miles and added Rislone to oil. No valve tick since then. About 3 oil changes ago.

    One question.... after pushods are torqued to specs, should the pushods be able to move any at all, or are they completely tight??

    • @ProblemSolverGarage
      @ProblemSolverGarage  3 года назад

      I can’t remember but I believe you would be able to move the ones that aren’t pushing the valves open, so most of them depending on the position of the motor

    my upper intake gasket on my 03 GrandAm GT needed to be replaced. I took it to a mechanic they changed it after 3 months I noticed a leak. I took it back they told me the intake was cracked in 4 different places I asked if they were going to refund me for the first time they said no. I told them they probably cracked it while taking it off the engine they gave me the option a new intake manifold or used that had been tested. I had no choice so I got a used one they did show me the intake manifold was cracked. when It was done I gave them the money didn't say anything to them when I left. What work you can do yourself do it then you won't get ripped off like I did.
