Yep, that's right, the Fairly OddParents is getting a reboot... again... this time a whole test animation and bible has been shown, so we can get a pretty good idea of how this one will play out, and thankfully it's seeming to be much more promising than their... last attempts...

One way they could turn the “she’s smart” characteristic into a negative thing is by having her focus more on her grades as opposed to her social life. Have her choose studying over playing with her friends and have her friends be mad at her for it. Have Cosmo and Wanda step in to make her less uptight and stressed, so she can enjoy her youth.
They could make her book smart but not have the skills or experience to use it.

@@annabelconstantine1241 In and of itself, no; however, if done consistently to the point that it’s severely affecting your social life and mental health, then it is a problem. Not that that should be the sole reason she has fairies, but it can be one piece of the puzzle.

I think it's important to remember that part of Timmy's relationship with his fairies was that they helped shape him into a better person. They were silly and granted wishes and stuff, but they were also there to be role models and comfort him. They were parents. I hope any future Odd Parents media can remember that role.

Actually I think the protagonist being lonely could be compelling if done well. I've been in a place where I genuinely couldn't make friends due to anxiety, and it left me feeling incredibly isolated and depressed. If that's the sort of route they're going I can see why she would be given fairies

I think that's good too. I have ADHD and Autism so it's hard for me to make and keep friends, so I can remember many times in my childhood where I wish I had Fairy Godparents to ease the loneliness.

I had the same problem as a kid but I thought people were my friends till I realized they weren't. Honestly having autism at times kind of sucks.

If they are going to do a reboot again, I want them to do what the Pilot episode of Fairy Oddparents were like. When Cosmo had a deep voice and a snake oil salesman vibe, was all about street smarts, and had a faulty wand.
Meanwhile Wanda was book smarts and was sweet, generous, and a bit mischievous, but still was a strong motherly figure to Timmy. And she and Cosmo were a happy wholesome couple.
Oh and Timmy is less annoying and well meaning.

In Brazil, the voice actor Guilherme Briggs, gave Cosmo both his old voice and his newer voice, switching between them depending on what is better for the scene.
Don't forget how in Season 0, Wanda was often dumber than Cosmo.
Not saying that's a bad idea, but let's be real, the chances of Cosmo and Wanda (and Timmy if he shows up) reverting back to their OY shorts/season 1 personalities are pretty damn low, mainly because their current ones are more recognizable and have been around for much longer.
TBH, I think they should just revive the scrapped FOP theatrical movie. For those who don’t know, here’s what the film would’ve been about this:
Timmy, feeling sorry for the way Vicky treats other children, wishes that every kid in Dimmsdale had fairy godparents. However, this backfires because Vicky, being under 18, is still considered a kid and gets Jorgen as her godparent. To make matters worse, with no one to protect everything in Fairy World, the Anti-Fairies and the Pixies join forces to take over the world.

An interesting approach for Hazel in my opinion would to make her (relatively) poor actually. Sure don’t go over board like being homeless or anything. Just make her coming from a world where her family isn’t exactly well off like Timmy’s and now given basically a blank check to fulfill her dreams. Think Bob’s Burgers but more child friendly.
Yet again things can go horribly wrong.

1:25 As a die hard fan of the show and a decent enough head figure of the show's community, I can tell you with pure confidence that Teenage Robot is having a LOT of support and recognition for a reboot in and out of the community, especially in the past year or two. It's crazy to see so many people still come to Teenage Robot wanting something new since when I first rejoined the community in August of 2020 after 10+ years of forgetting the show existed, there was almost no hope of it ever happening and seeing you always bring it up from time to time makes my day Mark! Thanks for helping bring this underappreciated show more into light!
Then again if this was 2017 or 2018 like around the time Hey Arnold, Invader Zim and Rocko all got tv movies, then they probably would of done the same thing with MLAATR too. I mean I think a tv movie for MLAATR would be more beneficial to close things up. If it were to get revived, then it’ll probably be milked to death like SpongeBob, Rugrats and The Fairly Oddparents.
@@rayewaddell9668 I think a TV reboot movie would be good too. Don't want Jenny going around and getting into modern trends and the reboot end up being irrelevant compared to the original show. A big reason why it wasn't rebooted like all those other shows is probably because those shows you mentioned were not only much more successful with a bigger audience, but was easier for nostalgia due to success since corporations started REALLY jumping on the nostalgia train around then. I hope we get something good one day and it not end up being crap.

The idea of new kid, new logic to the world with all the new things and changes sounds really great on paper, and a good excuse to be always rebooting the fairly oddparents, but the thing I agree the most is the question about how they'll make the new kid sympathetic. The reason why I liked the og show is because I related with timmy in a lot of his wishes, always comming for simple needs that backfired once he realizes he can't simply cheat life, like the one where everybody are the same gray persons or the cool bike episode.
The idea of her not having her best friend, her brother, once she moves to the new house sounds good enough but the real question is how she relates with her parents and future classmates?
What I want out of Hazel is for her to be a giant nerd. Someone who desperately wants friends, but is incredibly passionate about unusual or lame things so it drives people away. She'll get bullied at school for her eccentric interests, although her behavior is more grounded and timid. Her dad and brother are very supportive of her, but her brother not living with them anymore + her dad working so much he's rarely home (I imagine that if he's fresh out of a divorce their financial situation isn't great) makes her feel even more isolated. Then I can understand her having fairy godparents, her grades may be good but everything else sucks. I think this way she'll be a nice mix of Chloe and Timmy, too.

I feel it would be better if hazel was maybe more like nervous and shy, like the very contrary of how Timmy wished without thinking because he is a kid after all, but hazel overthink a wish to death, and when it doesn't work she keeps building on it not like how Timmy tried to fix right away making a problem bigger, but because she wants to think she can fix alone so she hides it up, and gotta start trusting others outside her family circle and become more open with her likes

I really hope that test animation actually reflects how the reboot will look. I remember the teaser for the animated Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie looking much more stylized than what we got and I hope this series doesn't get the same treatment.

They could always spin the 10,000 year break as something small in Fairy terms. Like 30 years for humans. So it would explain that Timmy is a father someplace else, thus keeping a consistent timeline despite being a reboot.
Even if the reboot did undo Timmy’s existence, the classic show will always be here.
Imagine a character who started off as a nice person who is super wholesome, but life beats them down, and when they get fairies and can actually have something, the power goes to their head and gets the point of wear they are the main villain of the show

I think the 10,000 years plotline is going to be Fairy Time moves a lot differently than Human time. Like, Fairy Vacations are effectively like travelling to a pocket dimension for that time, time is relative and their 10,000 year experience was like... two or three years IRL.
Wishology kinda deconfirms that logic.
But the pocket dimension idea could save all that.
Of course Jorgan getting noticeably old is *really* ***REALLY*** confusing. But I digress, we’ll see.

The idea of seeing an older poof is kinda neat! Especially since before they were mostly a catalyst for cute fodder and baby nonsense! It'd be cool to see what they do with him, and anti-poof as well since lots of time has passed and fheyll be adults (or teens?).
the new art style is 3D but it looks like it's trying to imitate 2D so that's why it works. I'm glad this 2D-inspired CG is starting to become more common

Their new show should just be about Norm and his godkid, where Norm can only grant three wishes per day with Da Rules applying to them. This can help build tension to plots, since the God kid can't just unwise a bad wish. If the kid makes a bad wish, what should they do? Use the second wish to fix it or fix it themselves in case they need that wish later?

Because they let Stephen Hillenburg die so that they could make SpongeBob more and more of a cash cow as much as Family Guy (they both debuted in 1999 aka the end of the last century/millennium), that’s too smart for Nickelodeon to do with TFOP!
Well, according to the pitch book, Cosmo and Wanda wanted to be her god kid rather than being assigned as after they stop being Timmy’s (he has a kid now) they just wander around time and space on retirement and return to the modern time to relax. But they met Hazel and realize how much they miss being god parents but the conflict comes when they been out of practice for so long that even Wanda doesn’t notice bad wishes and sort of goes with the flow like her season 1 self. Even the pitch book describes Cosmo as more zen while still dim witted
I definitely think they could write something for Hazel that focuses on her family more thar could justify her having faries. I haven't read the leaks but I heard no mention of Hazel's mother.
If she's just not around I could see her being much more attached to her brother, causing that lonely separation to be a lot more important to her. It would make more sense if her dad also works a lot so she's left almost completely alone, or he could be like Timmy's dad and just be incompetent.
Also her being smart kind and caring around a bunch of young children definitely opens up the gates for people to take advantage of her. Kids are little shits.
But back to the parent thing, seriously, imagine if Timmy's dad was a single father... *shudders*
the artstyle of this reboot reminds me of that weird era of mario renders where they gave mario realistic hair and clothes but still kept his cartoon proportions

That era is still sort of on-going, that seem to switch between the super-realistic SMO renders and the simple 3D World renders

Honestly, a deconstruction of Chloe's character would make for a great sort of kid who gets fairies. Someone who tries to keep a persona of "Always happy, everything's sunshine and butterflies", but lives in a broken home full of neglect and abuse. Maybe they don't necessarily have a Vicky in their lives, but their situation is bad enough that they spend a lot of time away from their house and actively dread the sunset. Give them irrational fears stemmed from their terrible home life, like an fear of the dark or claustrophobia. Things that can be used to contrast their persona of "Little miss cheerful" that they try a bit too hard to keep. Maybe they have a hobby or pass-time they're embarrassed to share, like perhaps being a massive Crash Nebula fangirl and even owning a bit of the old merchandise (This could be a good excuse for her to insert herself into her favorite show, like how Timmy did so for The Crimson Chin comics).
and honestly, a female Godkid would make for super interesting social dilemmas that could be attempted to be solved through magic, as girls can be utterly vicious to one-another. Perhaps this new kid is unpopular because her positive persona comes off too thick, or maybe one of the Popular girls found out where she lived and started spreading nasty rumors, prompting the Godkid to start wishing for a home and parents that suited to counter those rumors, only for the wishing to spiral out of control and require an unwish.
There's good ideas in a Chloe-like, but it needs to be handled with a lot more nuance than what Chloe was allowed.

Honestly, this reboot certainly has potential. The characters need to be fleshed out more, but the animation definitely gives me 2015 Peanuts vibes. Hopefully this will redeem the franchise after years of rotting.

9:24 I mean I can't fault you for not reading the full pitch bible because of how hard it is to find, but it says multiple times that this is basically several decades in the future of the main timeline. Doug Dimmadome's son from the Lemonade stand has inherited the company and had a son after being freed, Jorgen has softened up and become more of a CEO after being married to the tooth fairy, Cosmo and Wanda are stated to have moved on from Timmy likely following what Channel Chasers established, etc. The 10,000 year vacation thing is time-and-space magic nonsense where time didn't pass as much for them.
It would have been interesting if Hazel was Cosmo and Wanda's new godchild after Timmy grew up (and not acknowledging the live action stuff).
A good overarching background to this reboot is that Timmy was an adult going through college, working, and starting a family. By the end of the reboot, Cosmo and Wanda say goodbye to Hazel and their next assignment is Tammy and Tommy, Timmy's kids from the end of Channel Chasers.
I might give it a chance... IF they give Cosmo his old voice and personality back 😅

Honestly, I'm of two minds for this. On one hand; yeah, it's been too damn soon after their first attempt at reviving FOP that it just seems like trying to breath life into a dead horse. On the other hand; maybe they can redeem themselves after alot of the misteps from the later seasons of FOP, and the dumpster fire that was Fairly Odder. As for the art style; I can't be the only one getting similar vibes from the Blue Sky Peanuts movie right?
Can't wait for them to introduce 50 new characters and gradually phase them out as no one continues to watch

The Fairlyodd Parents is like a flower. When you first pick it, its beautiful and a masterpiece, but the longer you have it, the less pretty it comes and it's not something worth saving.

10:00 The best way they could handle Timmy is him being an adult who has some connection to the Main Character. He could be a Teacher, an Uncle, Heck, even just the Mailman. But NOT an Antagonist. Crocker already did the whole 'had Cosmo and Wanda and messed up and now is obsessed.' No, the better option (And the one to would DEFINATELY Make me watch it.) is that you aren't fully sure if he still remembers his Fairly God Parents or not. Timmy was a VERY important kid considering he saved the universe from the Darkness so him being allowed to remember everything seems pretty plausible. Not super blatant but more subtle or more discrete like.
A. Seeing Hazel with Pink and green items constantly and just smirking or commenting that those are his favorite colors.
B. Giving her advice that strangely always seems related to her current predicament.
C. Or even just going along with whatever excuse Hazel comes up with to hide the fairy's existence but making a joke at her expense that like in B is oddly relevant to her problem.
I'm not saying make him a completely different Character but make him a Timmy that has grown up and matured from his 10 year old self and done something with his life he can be proud of unlike his Parents. Heck, he could be a Child Cunselor and I wouldn't be surprised.

I'd like the idea of Timmy never getting fairy godparents or loosing them early on so that we can see what kind of adult he became by enduring Vicky's abuse and his parents neglect and have like a side story where he fixes those issues as an adult

Of course I sympathized with Timmy but I always felt of it more as a lot of kids watching lived that, it was relatable for the most part, Timmy getting the godparents was more a fantasy of what we wanted and let us get away from the reality that Timmy was, as well, living in

if I could choose a series to reboot would be Jimmy Neutron
I loved that series as a kid and the animators had it really rough at the time, I heard sometimes they had blackouts and had to stop working till the next day cause there was nothing else they could do
and that the 3d animation they used was quite hard and faulty at the time so they just shrugged at several animation errors

Fairly Oddparents was THE Nicktoon for me, is definitely the one i have the most fond memories of at least. And after the streak of bullshit i had to go through as a fan of it, i just want to see the people working on this reboot to at least... Try.
Unlike previous reboots and recent seasons of fop this reboot seems to have some talented writers so theres hope for this reboot
The artstyle reminds me of the original teaser for the animated Wimpy Kid movies, but we all know how that eventually turned out :(

I guess you could say, Nickelodeon is trying to bring back the *magic* of the original tv show. Even though the original was better, Nick is trying to bring it back. It’ll probably never happen.

i had a small idea for a sorta "final" for the og show being that of a episode around crocker where he is trying to get proof of fariys
but yet ass hes about to prove they exsite he slowly starts to clear his mind, those old memorys of how he was when he was a kid and how happy he was to have fairys, so right before he proves they exsite he comes to the thought of "if this same thing happens again, it could ruin alot more then 1 kids dreams"
sorta snapping out of his insanity to the once innocent person he was, and so decides it may be best to let go of the past and try to move on with his own life
This could honestly work, better than just rebooting the old series over and over.

9:35 my guess is they will be doing some sort of faryworld time thing. "Ooh time goes difrintly here" or somthing like that.
One thing I hope comes out of it is the same amount of like easy, lazy watchability that the original had, even during re-runs, where I didn't have to fully engage my entire brain just to watch it and could just lazily enjoy it for what it was. The original was one of those cartoons I could watch after school or on the weekend or when I was sick or something and didn't have those moments where I just immediately got bored or disliked the overall comedy or storytelling and just decide to pop a game into my Gamecube instead, and I hope that the new one keeps that same feeling and has a team behind it that actually gives a shit.
There was something so nice about the "Oh, this is on? Sick, this is hopefully gonna be my next few hours until something else comes on." feeling and not having to have some internal debate on if I should watch or do something else to the point of not even being able to fully pay attention that not many shows actually gave me, since it always felt so easy to slip into the couch and block everything else out for a while when this show was on (at least in the earlier seasons, I stopped watching after Poof happened and also started having to deal with life as I got older, and seeing what happened to the show after that makes me glad I stopped watching TV altogether a la RUclips before I could have it ruined for me in real-time 💀).
I can't say I'm excited for this or that I'll even be watching, but the art style looks SO FUCKING GOOD imo. I don't know why but it just really does something for me
