300HP SUBARU WRX | My review after a full year of being DYNO TUNED

- Опубликовано: 13 сен 2024
- My Subaru WRX at 300 horsepower for a whole year. I can't remember if I mention it in the actual video, but I got my car tuned at AWDtuning in September of 2019. Since it took me so long to get caught up on videos, I thought it would make sense to share my thoughts on how the car runs and handles. Unfortunately I have gotten used to the power level and it is no longer exciting, so this video was very tough to make up to my expectations.
Below I will insert a list of mods that were necessary to make this kind of power.
Maperformance air intake
Grimmspeed Jpipe
PRL TGV/EGR deletes
COBB 3port boost controller
COBB Accessport (obviously)
Remark Muffler Deletes (not necessary)

That's all I had to hear was its so much fun to drive. 😅
I feel you on the sloppy shifts, shift bushing and shift stop has helped me tremendously
Ya I’m definitely gonna get those for sure
plus a weighted gear knob .At least 500grams and the gearbox shifts feel super solid and accurate
I only did the shift stop. A super cheap and easy mod but it def fixed the vague 1-2 shifts. I cleaned up 5-6 too. I have no complaint.
Your vids are dope
I have a Perrin shift stop on my 2020- Helps a lot with 1 -> 2!
Shift bushing , and boomba shift plate will help a lot
Same here, cheap easy fix.
Get the $15 no name one on Amazon, does the same for less $$$
First to second is a absolute B****
youre not crazy it does kinda sound like a slightly lower vq. im for sure subscribing, it seems like youre car is close to what i have envisioned for my 2018
Thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one
In addition to the other recommendations, the sti group N engine and gearbox mounts are great.
Both my current forester and previous Liberty/Legacy have group N engine, gearbox & pitch stop mounts, plus the sti short shifter, and it’s so much better.
They would be my most recommended mods for a Subaru.
If you want all the pops go about 15-25 mph put the clutch in and Rev it to about 5k rpm obviously not good for the car but it sounds amazing and is low key addictive.
Oh yes I’ve figured that out over time.
You say “quick” and not “fast” but 0-60MPH with your power level is like 4.5 seconds. Anything under 5 seconds is fast to me
The car is really fun on curvy roads. I get compliments on it for being stock. Mine is still stock ever since I bought it brand new. All I have is stock e tune and muffler deletes. Its definitely time for me to get fbo and e60. I cant wait.
Did you make it there yet?
@@BoostedFAYes sir! Fbo and e60. The car is even better than before.
@@dirtywrx8478 that's awesome... im doing alot of Bolt ons now too.. starting my experience.
Why not verticoolers? 👀 They work like front mounts and save you a bunch of time. Granted, who doesn't want to flex a fmic lol
What kind of Jpipe and exhaust you running
Subscribed bro! I'm from San Antonio and I just got my 2020 wrx
Get the STi Short shift kit, works nice.
My first stick shift is a wrx.. I struggled so hard with the clutch. I remember taking this girl out on a date and killed it in the middle of a busy ass intersection 😭😭
My SRT was straight piped and I'll never do that again on a daily driver lol
I want this setting for my car!
The way your car sounds is how i want my car to sound i know that sound cliche, but I have ALWAYS wanted a subaru, and NOW i finally have one Just got it 2 weeks ago. 2020 wrx, 2.0 just not the STI trim but still.
Hell ya man that’s awesome! I think the 2020s look so much better than the 15-17.
@@austinfromtexas yeah I have a 2017 wrx and I’m trying to get a 2018 front bumper
Being a irresponsible speeder at times I’ll never get angry at someone “cutting” me off when I’m accelerating quickly/driving spiritedly
It's different when they use a blinker, I will get mad no matter what if you don't use a blinker. Around the area he is in, people never fucking use them lmao
Great video..I can't wait till mine sounds like this, but im in limbo my subi is at the port waiting on delivery im sure most new vehicle subi owners understand my pain
Did you receive it by now ?.
@@hakuxi9193 sorry for late reply yes I did receive it wish I waited for the big break package ..only got the premium version...got some pics up on IG wrx_smoke
@@MrYammizz that's great to hear man, how do you enjoy the car?, I plan on getting the limited edition but idk I wanna wait for the shipping. The premium version is great imo. I'll follow you.
@@hakuxi9193 to be honest I would wait I regret not waiting for the version I wanted..other than that the car is amazing it's a money pit lol but a fun money pit..what's ur IG so I can follow u
@@MrYammizz my bad for the late reply. That sounds like a good idea. I'll be ordering my wrx limited on the 18th of this month. I'll post it on my Insta when the time comes.
hate to say it but I'm not sure how long you've been in the dfw area, but that camero cutting you off will always happen around that area on the service road, that's kinda getting close to the crappy side of North dallas
Oh ya I know. Happens everywhere. And it’s annoying every. Single. Time.
Looking to get rid of my C3 corvette for a WRX. I already daily an Outback with a 6 speed and love it, but I've heard the 2015+ WRXs have had issues with premature clutch and throw out bearing wear. Have you had any issues?
I’ve heard of a lot of people having throw out bearing issues, and the clutch has really odd calibration on the stock tune. But I haven’t had any issues with the throw out bearing. I also very rarely launch my car and don’t ride the clutch
@@austinfromtexas Good to know, thanks. I’m always a little skeptical when people say they’ve got no clue how their clutch wore out so fast
Stage 1 2010 legacy gt here, didn’t abuse the car and rarely launch. Throw out bearing making noise around 100k and clutch finally gave out around 130k miles...if you drive properly it’ll last.
...get the latest model year VA chassis you can afford...s 2020 should have most of the 'flaws' or early failures sort of (I said 'should)...just know any VA WRX/STi is far from perfect. Go limited trim or base STi.
Get an sti
I actually think they made the correct choice with the stock tune. If they added more power, it would make the car less reliable and more expensive. That is fine maybe for car enthusiasts like us, but for the average person that might be a deal breaker. At the end of the day it’s designed to be a practical road car more so than a track car.
While you’re totally right about reliability, I think they could just redesign the weak points being clutch and rods to bring the car to modern power standards. Like the Camry
@@austinfromtexas Yeah hopefully they can iron out those issues in the next gen, but it seems like Subaru is pretty conservative with developing their cars.
...but engineering a better transmission/clutch/shifter isn't hard and would do the car wonders. Yes, the car is designed to be a comfortable car, but ppl looking at a wrx/STi want sporty and so a bit "rougher" more analog is a good thing. "World Rally Experimental" means what nowadays? The power is decent, but other non-power area need more work/refinement to lift the car to match its name...
Check out billet workz short shifter paired with Perrin shift stop and bushing! 100% new car
Most definitely! Since I’ve filmed this, I decided to go billetworkz for sure
"quick but not fast", couldn't agree more. I feel like if you live in a populated area 300 whp is the perfect number, I don't even know what I would do with 400 whp in my area.
That’s good insight to have. But this being the quickest car I’ve had, I really wanna see how 400 feels. Then eventually I wanna push it to 500. But that won’t happen anytime soon. Definitely won’t be my daily by that point
it’s running around $6k to take out 400hp on WRX!
The remark midpipe would make it should alot louder.
louder?
Possibly, I’m probably gonna go catback if I change up the exhaust. Seems pointless to spend $600 on just a mid pipe.
@@austinfromtexas...yes, but it will bolt up to the deletes you have unless you are changing out the deletes too...
This car sounds wicked. Full mod list?
Thanks man! I put the full mod list in the description
@@austinfromtexas who did your tuning?
Hey man, are u in the DFW area? I’d love to get together on a drive at some point if u are. I just started modding my 2020 WRX
...south side - Go Frogs! 🐸
Dude you missed at opportunity to take a beautiful, mature Black queen for a ride!!! She woulda took care of you bro!!!
Gaymaro and Chumpcat drivers do that.... often.
That camero must be from cali!
Are you getting factionfab coilovers? Best budget coilovers.
Bro ur boost gauge maxing out. It’s been a year since, your car still alive?
Yes and no. Never got boost creep. Boost levels were consistent at 22.7 on AP anytime I did a full pull, which was not often. However, to the no part, I was doing center axis snownuts, like you do in a subie. Oil sloshed, engine starved, and spun a bearing. I’ve got like 5-6 videos filmed, but not edited. And a new engine on the way.
@@austinfromtexas dang man! Sorry to hear about the engine. You getting a OEM engine or doing a built one like they have off of MAP?
Kinda look like the unsuccessful version of Eminem.
is being 300whp fairly reliable if you barely do any pulls in the car?
100% reliable. I’ve put about 30k miles on the car in the year since it’s been tuned. I do pulls here and there. I rarely take it to redline unless I need to prove a point. Dam has never dropped. Car has never acted funny. I encourage you to do it.
@@austinfromtexas im going stage 2 + but im really easy on my car, it will probably never see redline,
@@randomvideos21015 then what’s the point of tuning it? Lol
@@randomvideos21015 yeah. If you're going to drive it like a Prius why not get one? Besides red lining every now and then isn't going to harm your car. Look up "Italian tune up".
@@b6sline937 cuz i dont like to drive stock cars, i rather tune it and know that i can have fun anytime i want to then to drive it stock,
love the channel man keep the wrx content coming
do you treat it as a daily or more of a weekend car? i got a 2018 on nov 3rd and even though its just a stock base model wrx and its nothing special its fun to drive even just at the speed limit (and maybe a little over here and there in safe conditions). now keep in mind i may or may not still not have a license or permit and on its still only my second car so i know something like your setup is a longer term goal
Oh no, this is 100% my daily. I’ve put 20k miles on this tune alone. And I definitely do some hard pulls here and there. It’s definitely a great set up
I have a '19 base as my daily. Came from a '04 1.8t GTI. The WRX is the most powerful car I've owned to date. The car is full of flaws, and most can be remedied (don't fall for all of the dress up stickers). If you want more power, better handling, better shift feel, less rattles and more communicative when driving, look elsewhere. If I could do it again, I would choose the BRZ limited (my #1 actually; yes I know it's slower)...or get a series.Color, or a base STi...or even a G70 6m. The [VA] WRX isn't a bad car, but it's far, far, from perfect. You, the owner, need to engineer all the flaws out of it. Sky's the limit really...
Get your driver's license
@@sirfrancisbacon4344 can confirm i now have a drivers license
@@esegueyjose7870 that's my guy👍
Jumping in on this as a new WRX owner , when coming to stop signs . Is it alright to roll up to it in 2nd around 1,500 rpm or is that two low? Just don't wanna full stop in to first everytime. Thoughts?
Honestly, I don’t usually downshift to first when coming to a stop. I will go to 2nd, but the. Once I get down slow enough I just put in neutral and coast to a stop. IMO, at a certain speed you’re going to be on the breaks until full stop anyway, so why downshift for no reason? I think that answered your question
I don’t boost on these until 2500rpm…. These motors do not like low rpm.
Im really surprised at the power gains you got with the mods you have. Is your downpipe catted or uncatted. I typically see 310 hp on these cars if they have all your mods including an aftermarket intercooler and charge pipe. The stock one is very restrictive and weighs a fuck tone
Ya aftermarket intercoolers dont do a whole lot on their own without ethanol. I have a grimmspeed catted downpipe. I honestly thought I’d get more when I dynoed it haha
310 on a dynojet probably
How many miles did you put on it in that year
0:30 I cringed
Sounds like a tractor. I think tractors are sexy
Trying to build my wrx on a budget , got an accesport now I want more power which intake would you reccomend?? I'm thinking of moshimoto intake..?
Cobb or grimmspeed only. It’s worth the money
I think you should invest in going flex fuel if you're on budget. Adding an intake won't do much unless you're making serious power. Many tuners says the stock intake is more than enough unless you going serious power.
@@austinfromtexas I went with Mishimoto Cold air intake and Mishimoto TMIC with a no name muffler delete. Got pro-tuned on Mustang dyno at 275WHP and 290WTQ. Mishimoto has the most aggressive sounds and biggest gains part for part.
I’m about to get an accessport and the MAP stage 1 tune! How is the dyno tune power and overall experience of the tune compared to MAP stage 1 tune?
Dyno tune vs OTS tune is way better. The dyno tune, kinda feels like a more beefed up version, without the dead spot at mid-high Rpms. I was also getting a lot of false knock with the ots. But to like -12.56 FBK AND FKL. With the dyno tune, I have zero worries
If you’re not getting the 93 octane, don’t bother! The 91 octane tune is definitely more linear, but u lose the instant acceleration and power you feel when you’re only pushing 30%-40%.
@@staypuft5428 I’m actually getting an etune now and not the OTS tune. Top end power with full throttle is going to be greater than stock by far. I also don’t like it when I’m trying to drive normal and my car decides it wants to give it full throttle out of nowhere.
What year wrx?
My wrx has a very similar sound with pretty much the same mods, just all Cobb brand. Any issues with spark plugs or cylinder misfire at all?
and I totally agree that the sound is the best part of the pro-tune 🎶🎶
I haven’t ever had a misfire that’s shown up on a CEL, but I just changed the spark plugs about a month ago. But it wasn’t premature. However I have heard once you get protuned, spark plugs commonly need changing about every 15k miles
Funny......instagram model comparison.lol
While breaking the law speeding through traffic and gets mad at someone else for breaking a law. Too bad you didn't tell him you were speeding 🤣🤣🤣
i guess I am kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to stream newly released series online ?
@Avery Marcus I watch on Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Colten Coleman Definitely, have been using flixzone for since march myself :D

@Avery Marcus happy to help :D
Stop playing phas and disable the seatbelt chime lmao
Lol this guy is just talkin out his butt and doing all the fact checking in the edit. Also the first to second can be improved by a rear diff mount.
Well duh. Thanks for the feedback!
I hate everything about this guy. The way he drives, the way he looks, the way he speaks, the way he presents himself. Holy fuck makes me want to sell my WRX
Thanks for the kind words!
Please do😁
Right? Cares more about pops and how to impress people in parking garages and tunnels than sharing accurate information about tune/mods. The fact that exhaust sound is higher priority than even sway bars should probably be a red flag. I'm curious what vape rig he recommends?
