  • @dscwac396
    @dscwac396 2 года назад +1

    Everyone kind of stares at his swing but his swing is actually brilliant because if you take it outside like that it's so much easier to shallow out the club because what goes outside and must come back in. I actually got a hang of his swing and I literally put like 15 or 20 yards on my irons and probably about 20 on my driver with a much better flatter trajectory.

    I'm so glad he credited playing multiple sports here. I've always thought the best of the best were at least 2 sport athletes growing up. And specifically regarding baseball and hockey...those 2 sports translate really well to golf in my opinion. Already have fast hands and good trunk rotation and fully developed hand-eye coordination. Side note, I firmly believe that you reduce chances of injury if you keep your child in multiple sports too. It's a good balance.

    Sounds like what David Lee describes as Gravity Golf. Notice how his club is completely vertical in back swing. This allows him to drop his hands into the slot with ease/no-stress/no-force. If the club is vertical his wrist are not bent. He doesn't bend his wrist until after he puts the club in the slot. He also is falling back towards the target in his backswing. Soccer players do this. Field Goal kickers do this by leaning back to allow for an easier kick, they kick in an arc. This allows him to rotate much easier. His weight transfer to his left side, produces max mass transfer, this doesn't show up in the Trackman. Force = Mass x Acceleration. You won't be able to see what weight transfer does, but you can "hear" it. If would be interesting to track sound/impact as well as speed.

    About 5 years ago I decided to make a swing change. My swing was very powerful but I was very flat and wild at times. I made my takeaway more steep and pretty much "normal" to gain consistent shots. It worked, however I lost a lot of distance. I was driving the ball a little over 300 for example. (not a made up number my GPS measurements I was averaging 305ish. In hind sight I wish I'd had fixed some small fundamentals to fix the accuracy. Lesson is, if your striking the ball great and shooting low 70's don't change your swing. Find some fundamentals that can correct the problem.

  • @amarug

    guys like him make me question if its even worth paying any attention to your backswing. rather just get it into a good position with any path that suits you and then shallow and release. i mean the first time i saw his swing i was not prepared. i was confused for a second and thought he was doing a prank. people used to talk how furyk's swing is weird. but wolff's backswing is straight something from your 65 year old beginner at the local club with a desperate pro standing next him.

  • @banditbaker1675
    @banditbaker1675 4 года назад

    Only someone in their twenties would worry about being too flexible, lol!!!!!!!!!!!
    Matt seems like a well-grounded young man and I think he has an amazing swing, mindful of my own lack of flexibility I have tried to incorporate elements of his swing into my own. I lift my heel in the backswing, take the club back on the outside of my hands, (rerooting the club in the downswing), I initiate the downswing by replanting my left heel, squat, rotate and lift. When I get the timing right it definitely works, but when the timings off I fall on my arse! lol
    Regarding Majors, I don't think he quite has the complete game yet, but in a few years time, I can see him winning a US Open or the PGA. I think that The Open and the Masters might be a little hard for him, but I would be delighted to be proved wrong.

    It's really weird where his club head is at the top of the swing looks like he's gonna go over the top for sure , but then shallows it out so much in the downswing. Goes to show , you don't need a text book swing to crush the ball.

    3:51 how do you put 90% of your weight in your back leg when your front leg is completely straight?

      hes pushing off his right leg into his left leg and the recoil from that movement is what send his hands into the ball with such speed. he instinctively falls back on his back leg to stay balanced.
