Great tips on making this one perform better. Thanks! I'll skip giving you grief over the servo wire.....but good on you for reminding us about being careful and not editing it out. 👍
Thanks man
I realize Im kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good site to stream newly released series online?
@@rolandraphael9087 do you mean new videos from RC TANKS AND TRUCKS?
@Roland Raphael i watch on FlixZone. Just search on google for it :)
@Quincy Royce yea, been using FlixZone for years myself =)
I bought one of these a couple months ago and I had no idea of these upgrades so i thought i would have a look at mine, seems mine has nothing getting in the way, to limit travel. score!
I might be wrong, looks like there's room to shorten the posts that the aluminum servo plate is attached to, for the servo to sit about 4-5 mm lower. less angle on the main steering link can give better travel, then move the ball up that one slot for the servo to gain leverage force. nicer if wheels can turn further, not so nice if they can't hold a position, is just something to look at when out in rocks etc.
Hey mate, just bought this as my first RC crawler and your mods were the first things I did, and it nearly DOUBLED the amount of flex, I can get out of it.Great Vid, Please do some more on this great little truck.....Subbed..
Awesome Peter, glad you like the mods. Appreciate the comment and thank you for watching
Excellent video. I have made some of the changes you mentioned here and it did make an improvement in performance. As you mentioned it does have a high center of gravity, I added weight inside the front bumper and in the wheels, this helps keep the tires on the ground and lets climb without rolling over backwards. One other change, removed the rubber stops on the shock shaft and put the spring of a ball point pen over it, fits nicely and helps stiffen the shocks, very easy to do.
+Bob Jones great to hear Bob. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the video
i love this rc. i have done some many mods its not the same truck any more . i have put cnc axles 390 motor , battery is moved to front and elec. to rear. changed springs and moved shocks to out side , changed shock oil moved bumpers and cut a new tread into stock tires . and put a cupple more weap holes in the rims. this thing is now amazing. i can put a tire on a soda can and keep the others on the ground. thats alot of flex. i will be putting a video on soon .. oh changed the stearing servo. good video.. like to see more
Awesome bro! Glad to hear that you are enjoying the car. Definitely is a good performer.
@@RCTanksTrucks247 i have a 37 t 390 motor. how big of a change will i see if i put a 27 t in it? and thanks on the reply. not many people that i talk to will do it for some reason . its a new hobby for me. and at 50 years old its awsome..
Nice work - great ideas! Mind those servo wires LOL!
These chassis are surprisingly good for the money, especially when tweaked - not everyone can justify, as good as they often are, a £1000 rig. I've upgraded the ESC, battery, Receiver (Rx) and servo on my chassis. Not too difficult (mostly plug and play) and not too expensive - both take the electronics and performance up a notch or two. Also moving the battery to the front and RC gear to the back helps when hill/rock climbing. Again fairly easy mods.
I think that draining oil out of shocks, but leaving just enough to act as a lubricant can help with damping rate too. Or, of course, use thinner damping oil.
My chassis is the 'FTX Outback' (same difference as yours - just different branding?) the only issues are that when altering steering servo mounts etc it alters the steering and suspension geometry (as you demonstrated) and then other mods are required. The factory spec in this regard is very good to start with but is all things to all people.
Similarly with suspension articulation, if, like me, you've fitted a hard plastic body - too much articulation and the wheels rub/catch on the body.
Also, almost goes without saying, that doing these mods in the first year? Will void any warranty.
Thinking it through these chassis are remarkable - regardless of the few that sneer at them - they really are a great starting point as a chassis and with an ESC, battery, Rx upgrade they compare favourably with more expensive chassis. There are better chassis out there, superb ones in fact, but they cost considerably more. The FTX chassis is a good skill builder AND lots of fun in use.
I thought I was the only person that slips and cuts the servo wire's lol good job on the mods
+ed derocher cheers brother
Nope, done that before...
The shock absorbers are the dampeners because they control the movement of the springs. The little things you cut would be called “bump stops”. Good video though and cool mods.
Hub extenders improves these trucks loads!, in their standard form they are too narrow, when rock crawling or thrashing them around they tend to roll side ways, i put extenders on and now they handle much better, my next move is gonna be, putting a set of "pump up" wheels/tires on, they're a bit bigger but with the extenders on, they should fit fine. Nice video. All the best.
+HellBilly Austin thanks brother, appreciate your response. Definitely need to get some hub extensions.
What size hub extenders did you use ?
I think the latest version 2 is a little wider now.
just picked one of these up on amazon, gonna do your mods this weekend, nice vid and great expanation all the way thru
Awesome Dave, congrats on the purchase
I bought 2 of these a couple of weeks ago, now I have a fully functioning 6x6
Awesomeness
this is a great video, thanks for showing how to make this crawler more capable.
You're welcome

Nice.
Just a heads up, if you flip the cross braces over that hold the esc and receiver plate the servo will clear everything without moving it.
Also shorten the rear drive shaft around 10mm (5mm each piece) will allow more up travel.
I posted a pic of mine to your facebook post.
Cheers
+hyster16t ahhh nice, thanks for the info man. I might just do that later on.
Thankyou very much for that info about the cross members it works a treat, haven't looked at shortening the drive shaft yet until I get everything back together. I( have done all the other mods that were on the video but just couldn't put my head around how to do the front mod, your way was really self explanatory once I got into it. Thanks again. Selwyn in Australia
I have this one and just finished all the mods that you recommended. Thanks, looking forward to more mods that you recommend. Thanks. Robert, Arizona USA
Best free mods of the century... Great vid buddy... 👏
You're welcome and thanks for watching
I repositioned the receiver mount bk & slightly higher on some shock mount adapters
Nice 👍
Brother! That’s a badass truck! I’ve never own one of them, but this one is making me want one:) with the mods! Thanks bro! Peace!
+Phillip thanks Philip :)
I relocated the battery to the front and flipped the crossmembers upside down and used the bottom hole in the shock mounts so I had more room up front mine doesn't have the fuel tubing on the shocks and the shocks are mounted on the outside of the frame but I may relocate them to the inside after seeing this
You are greate you gave us nice tips and tricks. You are one of the most useful rc persons I have see in youtube. You make me buy this rc only because of your useful tips and tricks. Of course I like rc cars but because of your tips you make feel better to buy this truck. Just keep make videos like this here , you doing great , you are very cool guy and I am so proud I have subscribe to your channel.
Bummer to quick with the knife! LOL! Nice mods!
+Shen RC haha thanks man
Those mods are simple and highly effective! Great video 👍
+Rc Basher Boi you're welcome, thanks for watching
just done 4 upgrades free .im happy rgt.plus trailer for my drift car nearly done .even happier bunny
same as my one, im the 1st one to do a video on youtube with SCX10 running gear in it from gearbox 540motor & SCX10 axles an links & have a video on the rubber bits an where the servo hits i cut the brace but left the ends so the shock hoops still screw in mines a beast now also have a hard body jeep on it now gotta do a video on that soon
Nice and simple ...not to forget F.O.C mods..hahaha, really helped i my upgrades
Excellent video mate. Thanks for this
One thing I’ve seen literally every rc fj40 design have is the front wheels are slightly too far back vs the fenders, compared to the real truck. To me the alignment vs the body, as viewed from the side, is the most striking thing about the curb appeal on the real one. But no rc makers get it right yet. So what I was wondering is what about extending the links and drive shaft instead? Please advise
No issues as long as the drive shafts are long enough
Very easy mods and some times poo happens buddy but you fixed it up nice. I also agree with you on the wheel spacers that's a must other then that it's sweet.
+RCUSA thank you brother :) Glad to hear you like it
on the left front steering servo screw the m2*20 screw the one that goes both the servo and steering arm. is a week spot have you gotten a way to fix this problem? for some reason mine snapped right off in the steering block .
Just purchased one of these and tried to upgrade the servo. A well tested servo that works in other cars won’t turn from the current on this. Any suggestions?
Hey mate what size spacer did you use for the steering arm or did you add a screw instead of the ball joint? My steering is locking up when I steer left.
Hi ya. Nice, informative video. Thanks.
I just purchased on of these. Actually it was the blue Bronco, but I I'll bet it's the same chassis. It was NIB, but open box. Paid $103.50. . Not bad, right? It's not here yet. A week maybe?
Was wondering, but don't have it in y hands yet so can't tell. Is there any way to raise the steering servo up, into between the frame rails. Then use a longer servo horn or use ball ends and a rod between?
Oh, ya had some pretty neat mods here that I will most probably utilize.
My plastic tie rod has stretched. Now I have to much toe out. I need to find a short rod to use as a tie rod. Great tips, thanks.
Is this truck an the hsp Jeep boxer upgradable can you up grade parts like you can on a axial scx 10
A beautiful and professional video. Please upload another one after the changes TKS
+shay ben david thanks brother
How can you widen the wheel base? Us it possible to make is more stable?
Thanks for the tips... Just great.!
You're welcome and thanks for watching
This might be too late, but what motor can I replace with the stock?
Hooroo mate👌
What steering link do you have on this trying to find one bent like that
Can you change the motor to a 540 & run a Lipo battery ! I have a chance to get one at a decent price. I'm into the bashers, but be nice to have a crawler in the collection without spending 4 or 5 hundred $$
Any idea how to mount the bumper lower? below the frame. I think its too high
No sorry

I'm wondering how to do something like this
relocation servo with bumper and servo mount
Another great video Steve.
👍👍👍
Thanks Simon
How did you cut the shock absorbers?
Hay mate, just wondering if they are water proofed?
Don't you have a video showing how that car performs after those mods?
Got mine yesterday it's cool
+Steve Declark congrats
can you adjust the wheelbase?
Wheels hit bumper I turned them upside down and now in turns it never rubs the tires
awesome vid bro ! great mods !!
+MyPuppers much appreciated
How would you get the tube out of the shocks
Hmm 🤔
I've been looking at this crawler does it have locked diffs?
mason chapman yes
How do you trim the steering wheels on this RC. My is pull to the left a little. I trried to adjust from the controller trim, it didn't work. Thanks
Same as any other rc car, with the steering trim knob
When is the video coming off you trying these mods out
Out
Nice video very helpful 👍
Big thumb up👍👍👍
Nice bro I love it
Can we put pro line sumo Suzuki samurai body on RGT 136100 it's on banggood.com
Great video
Thanks, glad you liked it
Good job! Thumbs up!
+PB TV-PRO thanks man
Does anyone know of a metal replacement upgrade steering rod?
Thanks
@Steve Vento Thanks, that is exactly what I did, came out perfect. Also installed Redcat aluminum axle housings with all metal ring gear from Redcat. Love them!!
Would these work for the jeep styled one🤔
If it is the same chassis then yes
why not just put the reciver next to the ESC and glue the power button to the esc and just take that whole piece off
Could u do a running video on this with the upgrades?
Yeah man, definitely will. Just need more time :)
great video bro!
+mini RC Sports cheers
Gday. Great vid. Are you going to do furure videos with this crawler?
Yep, soon just time poor :)
RC Tanks & Trucks 24/7. Awesome :) I liked what you did with this budget crawler, so I brought one, can't wait for it to rock up.
I thought those pieces of hose on the shocks where just for protection in shipping?
+Michael Deering nah, they are there to limit the amount of travel.
Weird, seems like they would have just put shorter shocks on it, I have an older 1/16 crawler that has this same drive train it looks like and I have built it to be close to this set up about a year ago and it's been working great, hope your pair is just as sturdy!
Hola como más puedo modificar el rgt hsp 1/10 4wd rock crawler
Thanks
?
First thing I did is cut those things on the shock and lifted it like shit of a stick and the flex is crazy
+Ricky Sanchez lol, awesome
How did you cut them.
Please reply. Need to know.
I just cut them with a razor blade moved the shock mounts to the lowest so It clears the servo but if you need to know the rest that I did add me on Insta and I'll show you the real capeabillity my Insta is ricko51 it is private but I'll add you if you want
Got a video of this one running after mods
PLZ do film a test drive
+Moran Ben David will do
RC Tanks & Trucks 24/7 did you do a video dude I'm super keen
Do a video
Does anyone or even the owner of this video have the original 136100 parts diagram that can be photoed and sent to me?
Mine has the metal steering linkages on it
Sweet
@@RCTanksTrucks247 I'd a. Recommend adding some weight to the lowest part of the chassis for a more realistic feel. Mine is so light, that it just bounces everywhere. So I put a 5lb piece of metal just above the motor and it worked for me.
nice , add more mod video
+ah acemmss sweet, thanks man
To much flex only will make it roll over faster
I got a question can I have it?
+windowclean100 lol
You don’t cut anything just turn over the bracing and it does all this please don’t cut waste of time
really sloppy engineering to have that many interference issues box stock.
Hi. Check my truck for mods. For servo you don't need to cut anything.
Hi i have it
Cool, they are great
160 on ebay
Got one of ebay for 200
i paid 160 aud
Hey just received this model and.... Its shit.! Do not buy this model we unscrewed the rear suspension to raise it up and now the linkage is cracked from unscrewing it its just crap.! It should sell for $150 Aus.
HSP Pangolin is the model to buy if your after a cheap crawler.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP.!
Let the manufacturer know. Alot of people have had no problems with it
Hi you can sale me an rc plzz
