Wow. This has to be one of your best vids yet. Especially for folks relatively new to racing. While I've always been particular with regards to the build measurements, I've never realized that my steering endpoints have never been set far enough - what you've described as "full lock" in the vid. Good stuff J.
I did not even think about the servo being placed differently on the spline from car to car. Rc aircrafts everything is always 90 degrees. Thank you for this video.
Nice tip at the end! I learned that racing oval pan cars. We would do that to see how free the car was week to week because we dailed out so much steering with dual rate.
Good video Jason. Another point that some people don’t consider is any steering link change will effect endpoints. After a toe or Ackerman change it’s always a good practice to readjust epa. As a rule of thumb toeing in requires more epa and toe out the opposite.
This is a fantastic video of an expiation. People ask me all the time to driver there cars and that is the first thing I would notice. The circle thing at the end of the video I do before every race along with trim to keep my car consistent
This is an invaluable Piece of Information!! I'm an Old Fart, and have been out of the Competition Stress Pot for almost 18 Years. STILL, this is Excellent info for EVERYONE at every Skill Level. Proper Tuning gives you more satisfaction, helps your Car live longer, and saves money - because a misadjusted Suspension can wear out Tires, Bearings, Shocks and other Components much faster than a well maintained Car!! Just Subbed - I'll never be TOO Old to learn new things!
Nerd out this is awesome. I loved the practical tip at the end. I have never paid close enough attention to this and have had many cars that steer differently from left to right. Very helpful thanks!!!
I use to do dumb dumb things to try to get my car to steer evenly, it has to be right from the start, it's a chain of things that will go wrong if not done right. Great video jason.
This was really helpful thanks for sharing. It is so frustrating I am just glad I am not a kid in the 80s again. Information was just so hard to get hold of. Thanks again
Thx really helpful video, I'm dealing with a couple hosses that have high dollar steering servos in but won't turn under a load under full throttle so this definitely helped.
I have a spektrum 6040 and when its its zeroed out the horn goes on like you tlr pic. This is prob why there menual shows it like that since tlr and spectrum are owned by horizon. My sc5 shows it straight in its manual so i have to adjust the trim to get it even. Great video man!! Keep them coming
Yah good call on the turning radius- been doin it for years - lining it up on a line outside on the concrete checking steering is equal left to right at 100 percent dual rate and also 80 percent dual rate- definitely needed with protek servos that don't buzz under endpoint stress
Thanks a lot bruv, I sit for ever going back and forth wondering if it’s right or not. Am I stressing the end points or not etc… I’ll get the manual out and re run the install procedures… Cheers Chris.
Jason it's great information an keep them video's up an how to vids thankx for your time it's helpful an not nerdy it's a must so thankx Ryan what's up
Great vid..... Nerd out bro nothing wrong with in depth explanations and getting technical on us. I enjoy it, can't wait for the next one on this topic
I like the explanation. I’m new to whole thing and have a small beast slayer from eBay and im just getting used to doing it so. Thank you for the info.
Hey Jason I know its not a buggy but hopefuly you can help me out. My arrma infraction pulls to the right and slow crawling speed as well as at fast speed. Ive tried everything! New chassis new bearings so steering servo replaced all parts that were bent and binding alignment looks perfext to me. Ive re set radio and recalibrated. Pretty much only thing I havnt tried is a new radio and reciever. Nothing is binding. This has been driving me nuts! Please if you could give me your input id appreciate it. Ive been tinkering with this for weeks!! Ive stripped the car down 3 times cleaned everything and inspected everything for bent or broken parks.
Great video! I am a complete noob to this. I just finished building my first rc car build (tamiya Tt-02). When I turn it on the wheels immediately turn sharp right and stuck there. Is this a potential operator error with the servo setup?
Hello I just built my first drift car but my steering does not self straighten outs after a turn also my steering arms rotate as opposed to move back and forth when the servo pulls the steering link so you know why this happens?
Any idea on fixing stiff steering on a new build, the Kyosho MP10e? Not sure if it's overtightened bellcrank or WTF is happening. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Maybe you can help me, I’m still a noob at this... got a losi super rock rey that got into a big crash. Replaced bent parts due to torque twist on acceleration but that’s another concern. My current concern for now is steering/servo... I’ve replaced the servo with the same brand that came with from factory with the same horn and bellcrank. I’ve tried so many times to center the servo horn so my trim can stay in the middle, but for some reason that I don’t know. I could never get the servo horn to stay neutral with the steering trim in the middle... it’s either I’m on the far left or right. And there isn’t much movement I could do with the servo horn. I only move it like a tooth back and forth. And seems to be way far off... what else adjustments can I do? I’ve tried doing end point adjustments but it seems gotten worse...
5:34 maybe your to young or just havent experienced a real car without power steering. its very difficult to turn the wheel when standing still yet the second you start moving steering effort decreases dramatically. when your sitting still your tires have to scrape along the ground to turn whereas when your moving thats not the case because with any rotation the tire is always touching at a new spot when turning the wheel therefore theres no resistance from the tire scraping along the ground. idk why anyone would think a stationary car would resemble the steering resistance felt while moving.
You are supposed to turn it on with yoyr transmitter set to zero. That will center your servo and then you out your horn on. You must have your horn on while it's not centered and that's why it's centering when you turn it on. Also it could be a dead servo that locks right or left when it's dead
I found out the hard way that if the steering servo is under powerd you will crash and damage the 4 weel drive truggy, the servos and receiver were all powerd from a 6 volt rechargeable
What happened to that set up video you had up before (I think around 2 months ago) I wanted to show to a friend and it was taken down. It had a lot of good info in it what gives?
I have problem, my 1/10 crawler it steers correctly but wheels skidding, I wish I wish wheels on inside would spin slower than on outside- That would fix my issue
R.R. Hughes Out in Nor Cal the pickings are slim there were like 28 trucks at rookie night (Sat) so people are buying them and racing at a lower level but there’s still hundreds of the same buggies every race night out here if you haven’t copied the same mods and set up as 50 other guys your not cool...
Can anyone help? I’ve just got my son a DEERC 200E. We took it out today and when it’s set down on the floor the wheels barely move from left to right (no steering) When it’s off the ground the wheels will steer.
help please i have a rock rey 1/10. It has alluminium wheels and big tires 6inch. a bit heavy and when i turn left and let go it centers fine then i turn right and it dosent center well it will stay more right. its a 6v servo but would a 7.4 hv servo help with that thanks.

Don’t usually leave comments, but you helped me solve my servo/steering issue. Just needed this kick in the pants. Thanks my man!
What an easily overlookable thing. Nice job getting to the "why" of it. Of the better technical youtubes I've seen.
YOU DO A GREAT JOB EXPLAINING EVERYTHING
no he doesn’t 😐
Great explanations of steering. I'm saving this video! Well done.
I thought my cars can turn until I saw this. Just wow. Super snappy.
Nice tip at the end! I learned that racing oval pan cars. We would do that to see how free the car was week to week because we dailed out so much steering with dual rate.

Thanks for the info Jason!! Steering is always a problem for a lot of us when we first get into it
Wow 🤩 I really enjoyed this video, because that’s where I struggle with my HPI Recon. Because they don’t share servo specs on recon.
Great review Jason thanks for doing this video this definitely is helpful for setting up the steering on all if not most RC cars
This was really helpful thanks for sharing. It is so frustrating I am just glad I am not a kid in the 80s again. Information was just so hard to get hold of.
Thanks again
Great video Jason, Good point that not every car is setup the same. Can't say how many cars I see at my local track where steering is an issue .
Thx really helpful video, I'm dealing with a couple hosses that have high dollar steering servos in but won't turn under a load under full throttle so this definitely helped.
awesome points. its these little things that make a difference that you may not think of. really appreciate it
center your steering on the radio before installing the horn as well
Jared Harris adjust the servo horn and center it and you should be good
My car is bad
I have a spektrum 6040 and when its its zeroed out the horn goes on like you tlr pic. This is prob why there menual shows it like that since tlr and spectrum are owned by horizon. My sc5 shows it straight in its manual so i have to adjust the trim to get it even. Great video man!! Keep them coming

This was great, especially about considering those arcs.
Way to explain things man. Big round of applause. T.Y.
Thanks alot for the help 🙏 you kept it simple and to the point
If you have a linkage where there is slack you can try and plastic weld the slacky parts together
always nice to hear from a racers perspective.
I like the explanation. I’m new to whole thing and have a small beast slayer from eBay and im just getting used to doing it so. Thank you for the info.
Digital calibrator you're the man
Fantastic video man , very instructional and easy to understand.☺👍👍👍
Never even thought about that. Thanks, great videos keep these nerdy videos coming.
Really informative and clear will have to watch the rest of your videos and sub. Thanks
Salute to you jason for sharing lots of informatiom to the rc fans...i hope u will continue what u do and more power to you and ur family..salute
You can go to Harbor freight and get a digital caliper for under 20 bucks with the digitals screen. Hope this helps
love to see more of this kind of video....great job!!
Perfect! I am building a used Xray XB8E and it never occurred to me, to look at the original instruction manual for the servo horn size etc. Thanks.
Fantastic Video for fix the problem
8:.31 That how Matt Francis show me one time to make sure my steering was right.
Thank you this is what I've been trying to learn about the hobby. I subscribed to your channel I'll be watching for more,
Great vid Jason! 👍 Will you share how you dial in the alignment using subtrim and trim please?
Jason keep these videos coming. Next topic anti Squat ...maybe??
thanks you just helped me align my servo
Thanks for the video Jason!
That's steering for you. Always a chase game
Great info bro
U make some great info videos man. Thank u
Another great Vid Jason. 👍😎

You did great very informative thank you
Great video man! Very helpful.
Good vid. I went out and bought a Kyosho rb6 rtr after one of your reviews. Great car but the steering suuuucks. Id appreciate any suggestions.
Good vid I'll try it. My Kyosho barely has any steering at all

Ain't that the truth! Great vid!
my servo is inclined too, not sure if this is right since i have no manual, it is a RTR car. servo name is B7018
Thanks buddy how can i fix my wheels on my carnage I've brought so mwny things for it and still having trouble with it 😕🤝
I needed this video. Thanks!
Just getting into it ty bro helpful
Great info, thanks for posting!!
What buggy is that? Looks somewhat similar to my Kyosho sand master which was my fav buggy
And if this is nerding out... Then bring on the nerding!
Great video! I am a complete noob to this. I just finished building my first rc car build (tamiya Tt-02). When I turn it on the wheels immediately turn sharp right and stuck there. Is this a potential operator error with the servo setup?
This is happening to me did u fix it? ( considering its been a year )
Thanks Jason! My servo is doing that jittery thing every once in a while what does that mean?
3 years on still helping out
was and am very picky with messures and very happy that do s oas enjoy it alot
U explain things well n got me to subscribe. New booty here so I'm just all ears. Lol
Hello I just built my first drift car but my steering does not self straighten outs after a turn also my steering arms rotate as opposed to move back and forth when the servo pulls the steering link so you know why this happens?
Great Video man. Thank you!
My maverick ion steering is weird I have trim it just one click from
Full max left for it to go straight
Any idea on fixing stiff steering on a new build, the Kyosho MP10e? Not sure if it's overtightened bellcrank or WTF is happening. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Figure it out yet?

I have an rc car that when I turn it on it turns to the right and the Servo dosent responeds to my transmitter please help
Have the same issue with a rc car and boat. Did you have to replace the servo?

Great video!I have one question though: What if your servo is perfectly aligned, then you turn it on, it goes in a random direction? Thanks!
You are supposed to turn it on with yoyr transmitter set to zero. That will center your servo and then you out your horn on. You must have your horn on while it's not centered and that's why it's centering when you turn it on. Also it could be a dead servo that locks right or left when it's dead
love the video just not what im looking for
Great videos man. It’s good to have a short attention span. Way too many videos are way too long.
I found out the hard way that if the steering servo is under powerd you will crash and damage the 4 weel drive truggy, the servos and receiver were all powerd from a 6 volt rechargeable
Some people say turn down the speed on the servo through the radio does this help?
What happened to that set up video you had up before (I think around 2 months ago) I wanted to show to a friend and it was taken down. It had a lot of good info in it what gives?
Feel free to nerd us out lol
Is it true pillow ball don’t steer as well as c-hub? Thanks
I have problem, my 1/10 crawler it steers correctly but wheels skidding, I wish I wish wheels on inside would spin slower than on outside- That would fix my issue
Should I try to upgrade my slash 4x4, or get a tekno mt410? For some club racing. What do you think Jason?
Tekno bro
Try the tlr sct 3.0
Yeah I still rock my 810
Can you tell me if Short Course is dead? It seems up here in the Pacific Northwest it has died. Just curious about your area too. Thanks
R.R. Hughes

Jason, are you an engineer? Saw the 3d part in the background.
What if you but used......
What happens if servo horn cant center, and then use up almost all the trim to center?
Great video!!!!
Thanks helped allot
Great video
help please i have a rock rey 1/10. It has alluminium wheels and big tires 6inch. a bit heavy and when i turn left and let go it centers fine then i turn right and it dosent center well it will stay more right. its a 6v servo but would a 7.4 hv servo help with that thanks.
