Last week I casually introduced you guys to my new Mandalorian helmet in my "Room Tour" video. This week we do some proper introductions.
This is a review on the new OFFICIALLY LICENSED wearable replica Star Wars helmet from The Mandalorian. It's expensive. But... I've been wanting a legit helmet for a while now. And Mando is going to be my next cosplay project, so... I'm just going to keep saying those things to justify spending 650 dollars on a helmet.

This helmet is very different from its predecessors while still keeping true to its lineage from existing Mandalorian helmets. With access to the film-used helmets from The Mandalorian, we used 3D digital scan technology to capture the precise geometry, right down to 0.2 millimeters of accuracy, to create our exacting reproduction.

This The Mandalorian helmet is the first offering from our craftsmen at our brand new stateside manufacturing facility. HAND-PAINT AND FINISH:
The Mandalorian’s helmet may appear to have a simple pewter finish but it's deceptively complex. We learned about the paints and processes used by the prop department to create the original helmets. To perfect our finishing process we painted our prototypes side-by-side with an original screen-used helmet which allowed us to instantly compare our paintwork directly to the original piece and make adjustments as needed. Once our factory paint and finishing processes were perfected, our research team directly guided our artists as they hand-painted and weathered each helmet based on the same multi-stepped techniques used to create the originals.
Not only is this helmet an authentic and highly detailed true-to-life replica you can display, but it is also a fully wearable adult costume accessory. Each helmet is finely crafted of fiberglass and is appointed with a fully-lined interior that can fit heads up to a size 8 US hat. I'm amazed Anovos actually got a product out the door on time. I've seen people wait on their Kylo Ren stuff for literal years.

Ik I’m planning on welding some boba fett armor out of steel then lining it with Kevlar or graphene. Idk how to weld ngl but I’m gonna learn

@@fintanteague6057 If you’re talking about the steel, I plan on making it thin. If you’re talking about Kevlar, police wear Kevlar regularly idk why I couldn’t. I know it’s heavy but not super heaavy

I'm pretty sure $650 does get you a mandalorian helmet made out of damascus steel
First off consider yourself lucky: most people wait 1,2,3 plus years for their orders to be sent from Anovos. I thought they were no longer capable of delivering in the time frame they did with your helmet. Which actually kind of ticks me off in that what other items have the delayed in order to rush this out??
2) Yeah $650 is a lot for a helmet but to each his own: Consider that Hasbro has its Boba Fett helmet coming out before the end of the month and it looks Spectacular!! Plus it has a fully detailed interior and you can by 6 of them for you paid for your helmet.
3) Given the success of the Mandelorian, it wont be long for Hasbro to come out with their version I'm sure.
I actually bought the prototype boba helmet and painted myself and gave it a metallic rusted look and I was very happy with it. This guy bought something 6x more expensive and honestly he would’ve been better off just buying the gas to one and taking the antenna off and painting himself would’ve been a whole lot cheaper but hey when you got money to spend and throw away I guess. But I do agree with your frustration on how many orders must’ve been delayed because of this one helmet.
They are starting pre-orders for The Mandalorian helmet, coming out early 2021. Fully detailed interior, fully detailed exterior, $120 USD price tag

Anovos... the company that sells authentic gear but changes the design. Not sold at all by them.
I waited almost 2 years for 2 orders and $1600 later. Got refunded after shabby responses . RS Prop Masters got my money instead.
I waited two years for a Stormtrooper helmet kit from Anovos. Two. Years. "Shipping Spring 2016" became "Shipping Fall 2016" and then "Shipping fall 2017", "Shipping Summer 2018". You get the picture. Once complete, the helmet looks fantastic, but...two years!
I want to complete the ensemble with full armor, but I will probably go with RS Prop Masters when the time comes.
Yup. Anovos is garbage. I’m part of the 501st and we discourage anyone from going with Anovos because of how poorly they do business. I got my armor from RS Propmasters.
@@Sarge51BG They're terrible. I was involved in a fan film that ultimately got shelved because of the wait for goods. Time and money wasted.
I've met some of there reps in person at SW Celebration, they genuinely seemed like nice guys although that's probably the reps job. From everyone's stories being so similar though I do get the sense that they aren't really taking the license opportunity they've been given all that serious. I've still never received anything from them though so I can't speak from experience about the quality.
DJ Mitz how were you able to get the refund? I’ve been waiting and trying for two years. I’ve made a formal complaint to BBB as well, with a “no contact” from Anovos. They respond to emails for a few days and then stop. Always with some excuse their sorry it’s taking so long.

Consider yourself VERY lucky. I preordered my Anovos Royal Guard Helmet over a year ago. I still haven’t received it yet but they broke their neck in getting the Mando helmet out. This was my first experience with Anovos, had problems with the site at time of purchase, customer service was TERRIBLE, & I still don’t know if I’ll ever get my helmet.
So, did you ever get it?

Great helmet. Love it. Wanted to let you know I used the same pads on my Black series Stormtrooper helmet. Just a fyi the pads are great but the sticky side of the velcro pieces wears off and the sticky part is left on the inside of the helmet and the pads fall off. I just changed some of mine out over time. Just keep an eye on it. Keep up the great videos.
Where are you documenting your progress on this?
Interior lining comes off like butter, glue comes off like butter, visor slides into two panes like butter, additional (third party) padding required. All of this can be yours for $650 (plus additional padding price). What a steal...
You can probably make the armor out of either styrene plastic or cintra plastic, those are really easy to heat form so they fit you.
How long did it take to come in after ordering through anovos? I’m a month in after buying on their site and nothing yet

would it have saved money if you got a casting of the helmet off etsy, and then painted it with "alumaluster"? then lightly distress it?
My Boba Fett Black Series Helmet was on the small size for me. I had to remove the adjustable strap and use a combination of the same pads you used.

Love it! Also I’m a massive fan of the saberforge lightsabers aswell. I have had 2 of their sabers and were very happy with them. I have a full obi wan kenobi costume from episode 3. I don’t cosplay as him as I don’t have his saber and I don’t look like him either.
I’ve been waiting for Anovos to deliver my Kylo ensemble since April 2017. I got the helmet but not the rest of the ensemble. They had problem with production, they say.
The question is how long does it take to get it ?

Is it made out of duraplast?
If you’re making the new beskar armor, to match the paint with the helmet use alumaluster paint, that’s the one used for the helmet. Use a gloss black for a base coat and then use the alumaluster. Hope this helps

Dude anovos included pads in all my helmets and they just stick straight to the liner. I never peeled back liner.

For future reference, those pads would work better directly against your head instead of under the liner. That's how they were designed. If you want pads that will be more adjustable, I'm sure the Team Wendy liner system could be made to fit just about anything. If you want the best in comfort for all day wear, the 4D Zero G line can't be beat. I have them in my ballistic helmet for work that with NVG and counterweight weighs almost 10 lbs.

I literally watched a vid with someone making this helmet out of foam and they covered it with a bunch of bondo and stuff like that and it look almost exactly the same as that one-
Just received my Black Series Mandalorian helmet. It’s awesome for the price point. No way I was going to drop $700.00 on a Mando bucket. You should do a side by side comparison with yours . Pretty good bet Anovos won’t be around for too much longer.
