As much as Mark has embraced Star Wars, Harrison has ran from it.
Because it's a joke
From what I understand Harrison Ford wasn't crazy about star wars when he took the role of Han solo in a new hope.
@@spitspider41 Yeah, he was getting paid well and was hoping nothing would come of it.
@Rep Ninja Yeah, I think at one point he thought he was being pigeon-holed into a single stereotype role that was going to ruin his career, but he did the joker and got kudos for that too. Then he probably realized that being a worldwide (actor) "movie-hero" isn't that bad, and ultimately, what the fans want. I'd love to talk to him about it someday and see how far off I am with my observations.
@Rep Ninja He's such a chill dude, makes anyone comfortable.
Honestly I kinda love the way they pronounce the names differently in the movies. It ads to the realism. Because, irl, it's true that people tend to put their own spin on names, especially if they come from different places
George Lucas is a genius "say it the way you wanna say it it will be regional" always thinking of the overall universe then the scene I swear to God George Lucas is a world builder
This is why Lucas Star Wars succeeded and Disney Star Wars fell flat. Lucas understood and was constantly thinking of the big picture. He did not become bogged down by minute details, he let the film and actors flow organically but he was always there in the background to set the course and direction of the production
He was testing people acting abilities
A galaxy you mean?
George is an idea man.
He really sucks at nuanced detail. Which Mark is basically pointing out throughout this whole audition. George's actual moment to moment screen writing is lacking.
Star Wars was always going to be saved by a talented editor. Full stop.
@@corinth492To be fair, that approach was kinda overlooked when Lucas did the prequels. He had a lot of people offer critiques that helped shaped the original trilogy, but by the time the ‘90s rolled around, he was completely overwhelmed by yes-men and fanboys that ate everything he said up. The prequels were pretty much what happens when the creator is given too much control, and Lucas clearly knew that since he tried on multiple occasions to have someone else direct the films, but they were too scared to take the reigns.
He’s becoming more Joker than Luke in his late years lol
Thank god
You Either Die A Hero, Or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain

“Luke Starkiller”
Starkiller now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time, long time.

I love these reflections and how Mark remembers the interactions like they were yesterday. Beautiful memories!
Except Mark lies at the end, he says they were all haveing a lot of fun filming the original movie, which is untrue, all of them hated it, they thought the movie was gonna fail, and all of them hated George, they saw him a controling loser without a vison or talent. The entire time the whole cast was complaining to the point that George kept having to fire people left and right and replace them with friends and family.
@@autistic_potato1037 Not really a lie, it could have been a bad professional experience and he still could have had a good time interacting with his co-stars. Was it maybe an omittance of the overall experience? Sure, but this is for a charity video, I don't see the need for him to get into the nitty-gritty of what made the experience bad as well as good when this is just supposed to be a fun look back as a way to raise money.

I don’t know how this movie got made. There was just so much going on. It would not have happened without Mark, Carrie, and Harrison. They did a phenomenal job and kept it all together because my understanding is that George barely gave them any direction. And everyone, especially the esteemed British actors, thought it was going to be a disaster. But what a miracle it was. At least to me. My bothers and I were mesmerized. We believed it all. I remember the lines that went on for blocks. Literally! (At least in my neighborhood.) We couldn’t wait to see the movie. God bless my dad for standing on the line to get the tickets.
George Lucas is a terrible director. The original trilogy would of been terrible if Marcia Lucas and the cast didn't force George to make changes.
@@DoctorJammerAnd yet, the trilogy that George was NOT involved in is the biggest embarrassment in not just Star Wars history, and but the history of film-making in general.
I honestly cannot tell if George is a brilliantly hands-off director who just makes sure the right people get cast and leaves it in their hands, a master of _jikokanri_ so to speak... or a boob who blundered into something wonderful, like a latter-day Chance the Gardener.
I mean the formula sure stopped working for the prequels.
@@DoctorJammer COLIN SLATER IS A BETTER DIRECTOR
Not really, you can see it in the original trilogy script and stuff in the original that George just can't do dialogue and has others that forces changes to make his vision. If these same people assisted George in the prequels it too would of been a masterpiece.
It's why despite the problems even when it came out people accepted the prequels as canon since everything was there and it was all really good it just needed a bit of a rewrite....and less Jar Jar

Daryl Lander I know some hate the Last Jedi. But the one thing I really liked- Luke pulled off the most epic Jedi Mind trick ever. I actually like from the moment “he arrives” on the salt planet through the end. It showed just how powerful Luke had become. Han was my fave overall character because he had to always go against his “I care only about me” nature all the time because of how much he ended up caring for Luke and Leia. The twins figured a way to both get into his heart and he didn’t know how to handle it 😂. But to me- Luke is by far the greatest Jedi. His heart was pure. He saw good in a man even Yoda and Obi Wan had given up hope on. Even his nephew. there’s no doubt Luke could’ve beaten Kylo. But he just couldn’t bear going after him so he goes into seclusion over grief of pushing Kylo away. No one can convince me that Kylo would’ve been able to beat Older Luke. This kind of thing is gold. Every actor needs to do this at some point. We take "reaction videos" for granted now, but can you imagine if the classic actors of the 1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s could've done this for their iconic performances (or auditions) before they passed away? We'd have Mickey Rooney cracking up at his young antics, or Audrey Hepburn watching her young self in 'Roman Holiday'... But sadly we never will. Someone should be spearheading a project to get as many older actors to go on record, with either reaction videos or DVD commentary tracks (where they're literally sitting there watching their own movies with you while they reminisce about the experience!).... before it's too late (e.g. Carrie Fisher)
I've never seen a celebrity as humble and as appreciative of the fandom he himself molded, the only one I'd say beside Mark would be Henry Winkler. Hollywood folks of today sure could learn a lot from guys like them.

Like, with most actors, when I hear their name, I think one specific role, but with Mark, I don't know if I should be thinking Joker or Luke.
Everytime I see Mark Hamill. I'm like oh shit it's Luke, no the joker, no firelord ozai, no the trickster! Lol
I think of Luke and King Phoenix Ozai
+ he's a vegetarian, a progressive (WHO else would be in the "Rebel Alliance") AND he DETESTS tRUMP. XD
@@rake1087 he was Ozai!?!?
Then why the f*** he didn't use The Force against Aang!?!?
When i see him i think chucky as well
"Ah, adventure. Ah, excitement. A Jedi craves not these things. But we do."
- young Mark Hamill as Yoda
You can tell that Mark Hamill absolutely loved being in Star Wars he is so enthusiastic when he talks about it.
I can’t imagine anyone else being Luke Skywalker, glad he was chosen for the part !....
I think that rings true for all the star wars character. There isn't one I can think off that I'd like to replace. They just incarnated their characters so well and yes, I'm also talking about the prequels lolll
Ya
Imagine Nicholas Cage as luke. Now I put that image in your head and you will never be able to get it out of your head.
@@notabot5062 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Khishgee Jargal ... Ha! How about Sean Connery !
We should be so thankful for having Mark Hamill in sequels. He's actual fan of G. Lucas' original saga unlike some other actors who want their SW role to die. Didn't make big movie career afterwards but stayed true to the cause. For that he has my full respect. May the Force be with you Mark.
yeah I agreee except Harrison ford wanted Han Solo to die at the end of emptier because his character arc was complete and it would be better than him just being a nice guy in return of the Jedi and the way he dies in farce awakens suck
@@koiboi1562 I didn't like his death in 7 either but 9 redeemed it for me
I love the "Han/Hans" bit because on the movie everyone pronounces Leia differently
I love how you can tell he didn't want to be there
The name Hans Solo is really growing on me. They should have made Harrison do a German accent.
Nein
Nope. Don't make Han Solo German. Our German accent while talking English doesn't fit him.
nah that would imply that theres a german planet somewhere and thatd be wacky as fuck
Hans Yolo
@@HunGerMovies 😂
I love his reference to his “son” Bucky!😂
Mark Hamill & Sebastian Stan should play Father & Son in some drama film
C-MC Official I would watch that
If you are referring to the Captain America and Bucky comment, that wasn't about his son, but Cap's sidekick.
@@Phaota he meant that Sebastian Stan and Hamill look very similar (when Mark was younger of course) and he made a reference to that.
@@Phaota A lot of peope think that Sebastian Stan look like young Mark Hamill.
Mark Hamill is one of my heroes.
He’s inspired me so much over the years.
And if by some super-duper ultra-rare once in a lifetime chance he comes across this, I only have two things to say:
Thank you.
#MayTheForceBeWithYou
Imagine going to the dinner and skipping the movie? I can.
Don’t worry Mark, my mom still calls Ford Hans Solo to this day.
Sometimes it sounds like Hanz Olo 😆
*han
My mom calls him Hans Olof sometimes who is a Swedish celebrity.
So you’re swedish?
BoyOnCrack Hur viste du?!
Hands Solo was a euphemism when I was a teen.
Luke: hans I dont think...
Mark: *wait* dId I sAy hAndS??

haahhahahaha
Bruh terrible misquote
Hahahaha
Mark: Hands
George Lucas: We don't do that here.
Great video, love the added commentary from Mark. And honestly, that was a pretty good audition. I get why he got the part!
Congrats on your Wonderful Career!
From my childhood hero to a man in his 40’s
Thank You! It’s a blessing to get to see it come full Circle!
