The talent on that stage was legendary. Now you've heard Don Henley and Randy Miesner rip. Time to hear Glenn Frey rip singing lead on "Lying Eyes" from this concert. Thank you, Emma. Good choice.🤘😎❤
Eagles “Take It to the Limit” !!! At the top of my all time favorites. That was Randy's song . He started to write it and they helped him finish it. The girls all loved it when he hit those high notes at the end. However he had trouble hitting them and finally it got to him. He had been drinking with a couple of girls the night before concert and he refused to do the song. He left the band..... From Songwriter---->("Meisner famously rejected attention. He was fine being a background vocalist while his other bandmates took on frontman duties. Naturally, when “Take It to the Limit” gave him a starring role each night, he started to suffer from anxiety. “I was always kind of shy,” he once told Rolling Stone. “They wanted me to stand in the middle of the stage to sing ‘Take It to the Limit,’ but I liked to be out of the spotlight.”)
He was actually very shy about singing solo and this was his last tour with them. Can you imagine being shy about singing with a voice like that? Anthony B. Schmidt came into the band after he left as the bass player and could also sing the high notes. Check out his "I Can't Tell You Why" - it's another awesome one.
meisner was in the band ''poco'' before leaving to joining ''the eagles''. TIMOTHY b. schmidt took randy's place in poco. when randy left the eagles, schmidt took his place. kinda like musical chairs. lol
This is by far the greatest vocal performance of the Eagles’ prolific history. Randy nailed this like a fearless boss! I saw them many times. This is pure and beautiful greatness!
I was a teenager when the eagles made their first album. They did something that few groups could do and that playing great music that touched all age groups. My parents loved the Eagles. They disliked rock and roll they came from the big band era. Not many groups from the 70s did that. Great talent.
This song is absolutely phenomenal! The band would never let him finish the song until he reached those high notes! Everything this band did is extraordinary. "New Kid in Town" may be a great one to react to next and there is a performance of it from this same concert.
Emma, I am so happy to see you take on another Eagles song. One of the things about them is that they all sang lead on different songs, with the exception of Don Felder. He's an excellent guitarist, but he couldn't meet their standards for singing the lead. Although he contributed to the harmonies, to which the Eagles are famous for. He did have a solo hit called "Heavy Metal." Thanks again, Beautiful.
Don Felder did sing lead vocals on Visions from the One of These Nights Albums, and he wanted to sing lead vocals on Victim Of Love from Hotel California. Felder's vocals were records, several times I have read, and Henley and Frey felt Felder's vocals just weren't up to the band's standards. Supposedly, the band's manager took Felder out for a meal, and Henley's lead vocals were recorded and used on the album.
I honestly thought I would be tired of them by now, but I'm not. They are just too good. Same with the original Skynyrd, Steely Dan and a few others. We were lucky to have this music back then when you turned on a radio.
The Eagles are just phenomenal! After Randy Meisner left the band, Timothy Schmidt took his his place. You should check out him singing lead on “I Can’t Tell You Why”. Also, check out Glen Frey on “Lyin’ Eyes” & Joe Walsh singing “In The City”. All these guys could sing, that’s why the Eagles were so awesome!
Randy Meisners vocals lifted the sound of the Eagles up like no one, not only in the harmonies but also in the lead. Still he played a role like that of George Harrison in the Beatles: he was the silent one, but o so talented.
In the Eagles documentary, Meisner at one point asked the leaders of the band (Frey and Henley) if he could stop performing Take It To The Limit during their concerts because he had anxiety about hitting the high notes, which were difficult (the high notes he hits in the studio version are insanely high). They countered that fans came to hear the band's hits, and that song was basically his one big one with the Eagles, so they told him to suck it up and sing it. And he did. Until he quit the band and was replaced with Timothy B. Schmidt, so co-wrote arguably the band's biggest hit ballad, I Can't Tell You Why.
I met Randy when I won backstage passes to POCO. Super nice guy, quiet and very friendly. My wife was in the navy and broke her wrist while rollerskating, just a couple of days after she got home from the 1st Gulf War. He thanked her for her service, and as he was signing it, said he wished it was a war wound he was signing for! We and the rest of POCO, all laughed!
Many people don't realize this song was one of their concert favorite and most requests of all the Eagles great songs. If you listen closely you will hear the Fans constantly cheering and clapping throughout the song and especially at end. After Randy left the band it never was requested that much even when the Great Singer Vince Gill joined the band and sang the song. This was Randy Meiser song that nobody could sing it any better.
Eagles in this performance Randy Meisner. Lead Vocals/ Bass Glenn Frey. Keyboards Don Henley. Drums Joe Walsh Acoustic Guitar Don Felder. Guitarist Randy was a bit shy who didn’t enjoy the spotlight, he preferred hanging back but the issue was he had an incredible singing voice
This perfectly showcases the synergy that great musicians can achieve as a well-tuned ensemble along with perfect harmonies in a live performance. A tour de force performance by Randy and the band! Happy to see your appreciation of the Eagles artistry and vocal skills! You should listen to "Desperato", "Lyin' Eyes" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" to name a few of their great songs, if you've haven't done so yet.
I will keep saying it with every Eagles reaction... Seven Bridges Road. You will love the harmonies. Although, if you want to go through most of their catalog first to build up to it, no one could blame you
One of my favorite lines "You can spend all your time making money You can spend all your love making time If it all fell to pieces tomorrow Would you still be mine?"
So grateful I got to hear Randy sing this on this tour, in Chicago, in Oct. '77. He 'hung it up' w/ the group soon after, when he felt unable to adequately perform this song due to physical ailments (gastric in nature, I think) brought about, in large part, by the stress of being on the road & separated from his family. Glenn Frey didn't care, & insisted Randy do it anyway, which led to a major confrontation between them, & Randy's subsequent 'bagging it'. What a loss, especially after also previously losing Bernie Leadon, their 'most-countrified' member. IMHO, they were never the same, even though they still continued to enjoy quite a bit of commercial success. BTW, if you'd like to hear another great R.M. vocal, I recommend his rendition of "Take the Devil (From Your Mind)" off their first-ever album. It was considered by some ( OK, by many) to be be an excellent 'stoner' track. I was one of them (& still around to tell the tale. -- amazing !)
If you really want a treat listen the the Ian Matthews version on his "Valley Hi" Lp produced by Michael Nesbeth. The entire Lp is GREAT. That's where the Eagles got it from and which they used to warm up backstage until the crew told them they needed to do it ON STAGE. Was written by fellow Alabamian Steve Young about a road that runs south out of Montgomery.
What a great way to start the week, listening to a classic BAND delivering a fantastic performance with some great lyrics, just an absolute joy; Emma gives a CLASSY/BEAUTIFUL/FROM THE HEART and just FABULOUS REACTION, and she was having so much fun during it, glad Emma that Emma loved the band and music and some nice takes on the performance, done with sincere love and respect; 🙏💃💃💃🍁🍁🎶🎵🎶🎙🎧👏💃💃💃🙏;
I swear.. Your reactions out shine the music you're posting! Lol and yes the Eagles were something to see.. I saw them in 77 at the Greensboro coliseum in North Carolina when i was a kid..
Here's a fun fact: This song was written by the bass player, Randy Meisner (RIP Randy). He hated singing this song live and felt the others were forcing him to do it. It's too bad he felt that way because I don't think he realized how good he was.
This is my first time watching your channel. Lady, you've got it going on. You're beautiful and knowledgeable. That song was Randy Meisner's featured song with the Eagles. His refusal to sing it at a concert one night, was the reason that he left the band. Supposedly he was hung over from partying with a couple of ladies the night before.
Probably my favorite Eagles song, at least today. Randy Meisner had the voice of an angel, even way back when he was with Poco. RIP Randy! Eagles, the band made up of lead singers.
An "iconic" band indeed, just as you said, Emma. Thank you for choosing it and reacting to it! The Eagles were another American band that was founded just at the right time to still put a heavy emphasis on vocal harmonies. Anyone who is biased - it's quite impossible NOT to like the Eagles. This is the kind of music we will still be listening to in 50 years from now. A bit of trivia for those who are interested: Glenn Frey had an occasional sidegig as an actor. "Glenn Frey, a co-founder of the Eagles, appeared in an episode of the TV show Nash Bridges, he also starred with Don Johnson on Miami Vice."
I loved when Glenn Fry looked over at Randy after he hit the notes like yeah dude you killed it. All the Eagles were great singers, but Randy was my favorite. It is unfortunate he didn't feel comfortable singing.
I grew up listening to The Eagles. They'll always be one of my favorite bands of all time and I'm an old man. Their stuff never gets old. I prefer the studio version which has a faster tempo but I like this version as well.
I saw them on this tour, when they played this song the tension in the crowd was palpable awaiting Randy hitting that note at the end, when he did the whole stadium went bonkers.
A friend asked me if I wanted to go to a presentation by Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden about their trip to North Viet Nam in 1972. It didn't really pique my interest until he said there would be two bands playing after their talk. We had never heard of either band but went just to check them out. It was the show stopper each night. Meisner had a meltdown on this night saying he didn’t want to sing it and had to be cajoled big time by Glenn Frey to do it.
Randy's high notes were basically the reason he left the band after this tour. One night in Memphis he wasn't feeling well they had been touring for weeks already and he told Glenn Frey I don't think I can sing tonight. Glenn told him in no uncertain terms the fans pay to see him sing so he either gets out there and sings or hit the road. After the Hotel California tour was done Randy decided to leave the Eagles. He was replaced by his understudy from the band Poco he had left to join the eagles several years before by the name of Timothy B. Schmidt. Schmidt was brought in specifically to sing this song which he could do but out of respect for Randy Meisner eventually refused to sing the song himself, Glenn Frey eventually ended up doing it but he didn't do the high notes at the end like Randy or Timothy could do. Randy was great and a wonderful human being from what I hear about him. RIP Randy.
He didn’t like singing the last part, and had an amazing voice. Some how that’s makes him even cooler. Every member was extremely talented and could’ve been a lead singer in any band!!
The bass player on lead vocals, Randy Meisner, hated doing this song live because he suffered from severe performance anxiety, poor guy. He killed it in this recording, though.❤
Happy 2025 to the beautiful Emma. ❤ Hope your year is starting off well. Thank you for reacting to this great band. Their vocal harmonies were always awesome to listen to. This is a great song to sit in front of a fireplace and have a glass of red wine. 🍷
This band was simply a class act, everyone could sing and play several instruments. So many good songs and always better live than in the studio. Randy had a perfect great voice and in many songs you can hear his high voice, he was great and always seemed so humble. R.I.P. But also check out later performances: “Love Will Keep Us Alive (Live on MTV 1994)”, “Desperado (Live from Melbourne)”, “Tequila Sunrise (Live From Melbourne)” and “Peaceful Easy Feeling - The Eagles Live 1973”, simply wonderful
The sweet voice of Randy Meisner! What a performance. RIP Randy.
Check out Try and Love Again, also with Randy as lead singer. Great tune.
This is such an excellent version of The Eagles.
The band had great musicians who could all sing. RIP Glen and Randy.
The musicality and talent level of each member of the Eagles, both vocally and instrumentally, was off the charts.
It wasn't really fair to all the other bands back then. Or now.
And then they added Joe Walsh

Great song. RIP Randy. Epic voice. He gave The Eagle their country soul.
Sorry I think it was Bernie Leadon with his banjo that did that.
Such a great example of how well The Eagles could harmonize. Such talent!
The talent on that stage was legendary. Now you've heard Don Henley and Randy Miesner rip. Time to hear Glenn Frey rip singing lead on "Lying Eyes" from this concert. Thank you, Emma. Good choice.🤘😎❤
Also, "Take It Easy". They all look to be enjoying themselves so much.
Yep... my suggestion was going to be "Lying Eyes" as well. Great song!

Great reaction and review

These guys are insanely talented, tightest harmonies and great musicians.

They all have had successful solo careers or with other bands ( Poco - Randy & Timothy).
I was at this show. they were fantastic. this was at Capital Centre near DC in 1977 btw.
Randy Meisners vocals lifted the sound of the Eagles up like no one, not only in the harmonies but also in the lead. Still he played a role like that of George Harrison in the Beatles: he was the silent one, but o so talented.

1977 the year I graduated from high school. We loved the Eagles still do. And I love your reactions.
The whole audience was waiting for Randy to hit that high note at the end... the whole song is a buildup to that moment 👍😁
This is such a good song 🎵 to smooch to ... the memories ...
Each member is a great singer in his own right. Randy didn’t sing a ton of lead vocals but this one? HE IS JUST AMAZING
Harmonies through the roof
I met Randy when I won backstage passes to POCO. Super nice guy, quiet and very friendly. My wife was in the navy and broke her wrist while rollerskating, just a couple of days after she got home from the 1st Gulf War.

Thank you, Emma, this was an excellent reaction! Really takes me back to my early twenties. God bless you.

The Eagles have one of the best harmonies in rock history. Emma!!!❤️😍🥰💕💘
This and “I can’t tell you why” are my favorite songs by them.
Still one of their most popular songs, and the singer, Randy Meisner, left the band in 1977!
Thanks for this! Let's take everything to the limit! We only have a short time on this earth!
You need to hear Don Henley sung Desperado, and for the full effects of their harmonies, you need to hear their song Seven Bridges Road.
If you really want a treat listen the the Ian Matthews version on his "Valley Hi" Lp produced by Michael Nesbeth. The entire Lp is GREAT. Saw the Eagles 3 years ago for the Hotel California tour and they CRUSHED IT!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Thumbs up for Randy! Love his voice.❤

The Little River Band had great harmonies too.
You'll love them.
Great reaction to a classic song. Thanks Emma.
Best harmonizing Rock band!! Emma, check out their harmonies on the song, seven bridges road! Outstanding performance!!
They're basically a SuperGroup before that was even a thing. It's like having a baseball team with only Hall of Famers.
Gorgeous. When we had musicians with actual talent. Unfortunately rare today.
That's why they were called a super group .. individuals that were stars in their own right brought together in the "Eagles".
Gorgeous. You got it. ❤
A friend asked me if I wanted to go to a presentation by Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden about their trip to North Viet Nam in 1972. It didn't really pique my interest until he said there would be two bands playing after their talk. We had never heard of either band but went just to check them out. Eagles are the best band of all time. Someone tell me what jondra they are. Exactly! They could sing the phone book, especially when Randy Meisner was with them.
I saw these guys twice. The Hotel California tour and The Long Run tour . Unbelievable!
It was the show stopper each night. Meisner had a meltdown on this night saying he didn’t want to sing it and had to be cajoled big time by Glenn Frey to do it.
Another great reaction!!❤ Eagles one of my favorite bands 😎 they were All number one vocalist! Thank you 😊
The Eagles are great.
I really like your reactions. You have beautiful emotions.
I recently lost my mother. This is one of her favourite song's. It breaks my heart. 😢💔
in the studio version he hits that high note early. he didn't here though and everyone was waiting for it..and there it was.
This is a great one... knew you would like it... turn it up loud! 👍😁
Eagles have so many really good songs. This is one of their best. Emma you are so beautiful!
Randy Meisner singing lead with his fabulous voice. 😅
I vote for "TAKE IT EASY" to be your next Eagles reaction!
That smile is out of this world Ur so god dam beautiful aswell thanks for the reaction U got another subscriber ❤❤

Eagles are the greatest rock band of all time and are in the rock and roll Hall of fame
❤love your take on this beautiful hit !
I thought his biggest fear was hitting the high note at the end.
There do have great hit ❤📀📀📀📀📀📀📀📀📀📀
Thanks for doing this one Emma!!
Happy 2025 to the beautiful Emma. ❤ Hope your year is starting off well.
Thank you for reacting to this great band. Their vocal harmonies were always awesome to listen to.
This is a great song to sit in front of a fireplace and have a glass of red wine. 🍷
I'm excited to watch this! Great choice Emma!
It's been reported that Eagles had a rule, you write the song you sing it. Rip Randy Meisner
That would be incorrect, Don Felder wrote their most famous song , Hotel California but wasn’t allowed to sing it . Don Henley did
I recommend One of these nights.
This band was simply a class act, everyone could sing and play several instruments. So many good songs and always better live than in the studio. Randy had a perfect great voice and in many songs you can hear his high voice, he was great and always seemed so humble. R.I.P.

The eagles singing is like your accent a pleasure to listen too.
