Randy and all the Eagles were the very best band EVER. Randy's Thank you at the end of the song is priceless. We all THANK YOU Randy for coming into our life with such a fantastic song.
Saw the Eagles during this tour. Randy brought down the house with this song. The loudest audience response I've ever heard at any concert I attended. Perfect.
Also saw Eagles on Hotel California tour. Randy was so loved. You could feel his love of music in this song. Too bad it was part of him throwing in the towel on the group.
Whatever happens in this World, "Take It To The Limit" will always be Randy Meisner's song. The man was just pure vocal talent. I saw The Eagles live in 1977 at the old Empire Pool, Wembley on their Hotel California Tour and they played this song during the show. Made the hairs stand up on my wallet! And all the vocals were done without in - ear monitors because that technology didn't exist. I don't think we will see or hear another like Randy. Thank you Fil for showing us why this performance is so good. Thank you Randy Meisner, may you Rest In Peace sir.
I saw them on the same tour in Orlando... my first concert (where I learned I was allergic to marijuana!) and it remains one of the most magical ever. Listening to this sends me whooshing backwards to when I was 16-years old. Regarding idiots editing the audios to make them more "perfect," thank the Universe we have the originals on vinyl, tapes, and cds. "Remastered" takes on a depressing tone, doesn't it? You may already know this little saying (which I have heard many times in my working life) - "Perfection is the enemy of good enough". Stay safe and well.
I was heartbroken when Randy left the Eagles, and I am heartbroken at his passing. I always loved him and never forgot him. He was already an established musician by the time the Eagles began, having played in Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band, and Poco. Randy's voice was that of an angel. Everyone should also take a listen to his solo albums too. I will forever remember Randy's beautiful harmonies as well. Thank you so much Fil. I truly appreciate your wonderful tribute to Randy Meisner. RIP Randy🎸🌹
Ditto everything you wrote. Listen to Poco's Legacy 1989 album, as well. That was really Randy's final album. Wished that lineup of Poco could have recorded more albums.
Between them and the Beatles, they were my musical education on singing harmony. (Even though I didn't realize it at the time. I was just a kid singing along with the radio.)
Such a miraculous combination of creativity, talent, and total commitment to the music. It is a testament to the Eagles that their songs still give me chills, even after having heard them hundreds of times. The best.
I'm a great Meisner fan, and have always felt their sound diminished some after Randy's departure. And if that sounds like a dig at Tim Schmidt, it isn't, because there are fairly few singer/bassists who would've been anything other than a joke in taking Randy's spot. Tim was pretty much best case as a replacement. RIP, Randy.
Randy’s vocals are one of the reasons my favorite Eagles album is One Of These Nights. For me it was the pinnacle of their harmonies due in large part to Randy. His falsetto on the fade-out of Take It To The Limit is absolutely insane. His vocals are also all over the harmonies and chorus of One Of These Nights, the song wouldn’t have been the same without him. Don Henley’s high vocals in the song are incredible as well. Don Felder’s warm guitar tone also complemented their vocals so well. It’s crazy that their videos are being auto tuned, it’s sacrilegious. To see them playing so freely and happily is the cherry on top of this video. The smile Glenn flashes after Randy’s vocal climax gives us a hint of their happiness despite the acrimony that they were famous for. There will never be another band that sounds like the Eagles with Randy Meisner. Thankfully some of their live performances has been captured in Eagles 1976 Live at The Forum (Los Angeles) album.
Love your comment, I agree 100%. I also have their live album Live at the Forum too, which I got back in 1980. That album captures a sound that can never be replicated today. A true treasure.👍☮️
My wife and i were in the car and i told her Randy Meisner had died. She was never really into the Eagles so i put this song on. After, said it is one of the most beautiful voices she ever heard. It really is. What a performance !!!
Nobody ever could sing this song like Randy could! NOBODY!!!!! RIP Randy Meisner 💗 The Eagles were a very talented band . Every member had a talent of their own!!
I’m in my seventies and believe it, or not, I have played this song at least once a week since I was in my twenties. I would play it on my car cassette player on my journey to and from work every day. As you can tell I never get tired of listening to Randy’s amazing rendition of this great song. Thank you for breaking this down and your appreciation of what a brilliant singer Randy was. Also, how brilliant the Eagles were with their harmonies. I’m in the U.K. and only got to see the Eagles once on their Hell Freezes Over tour, unfortunately by then Randy had left, so I never got to hear him sing live. Rest in peace Randy, you were truly loved by me and all your fans ❤
I have listened to either Eagles Live, or Greatest Hits 1971-1975, EVERY NIGHT in bed, from the time I've had the ability to play audio recordings on my own. I love them more than any other band in the world. I've been fortunate enough to see them live twice, but never with Randy. I am so grateful to be human and have ears when I listen to this.
Pure perfection. I was 19 years old and this song always brings me back to those carefree days. One of my favorite songs, performances. Randy was such a humble guy. They did him dirt and he deserved better. RIP Randy 😢
The "Music today sucks not like in our day when everything was awesome" Boomer trope is as mean-spirited as it comes. There's tons of great music being made today, but Boomers are a selfish & narcissist generation that always has to point things back at how great they think they are.
These guys could harmonize like no other. Them singing seven bridges road acapella is a treat. It is beautiful when Don Henley put's his vocal right up close to Randy;s pitch is gold.
Hi Phil, my 1st comment but a long term watcher of your work. ALWAYS enjoyable...Thanks! The thing I enjoyed the most waa watching Joe Walsh as he was revelling in where he was at! A great talent that landed in a place where he was welcomed and accepted as a peer. It was evident he was thrilled to be a part of a great group of musicians... He was home!
The Eagles were - and remain - one of my favorite bands of all time. Each member is legendary in his own right, and together they will never be matched again. (Yeah, that’s a dig at what passes for talent today.) There is an acapella group that covered “Seven Bridges Road” and did it very well. Home Free is the group - definitely with a look!
The best band ever The Eagles and Randy his vocal is incredible we miss you Randy your memories will be in our hearts forever Eagles forever thank you for sharing
I grew up in this musical era and it was an incredible time. So many great artists who had remarkable talent. Randy owned this song! Thanks for the analysis! When I think of The Eagles, I will always remember and appreciate Randy’s contributions.
I’ve listened to this song a million times since its release when I was just in high school. And every single time, I literally get goosebumps. IMO Randy was the heart of the Eagles. His voice, his passion and his genuine humility made him the beautiful man we will love forever. Rest In Peace, sweet Randy. No more pain. ❤️
1977...My boyfriend's college dorm room, lit by three candles and an aquarium. He had mighty Nubian speakers, a Technics turntable and vodka sours. He knew this was my favorite song - we both sang our heads off, along with a gang of various friends who were always roaming the halls and hanging out wherever there was a party. Thank you for the joy ride Randy Meisner, and rest in peace.
Randy gets little recognition for his incredible contribution to the harmonies. If you isolate his vocals from the harmonies, you can hear how huge he contributed to the harmony sound. "Take it Easy" and "Already Gone" and "Witchy Woman" and other songs feature Randy Meisner's brilliance.
@@kylemc8851Yes, but Henley and Frey get all the pub and money. It is obvious he might have been the true voice behind their peak brilliance. Though Henley was clearly lead on Hotel and Desperado.
Randy was such a talent. Seems as though there was hardly any mention of his passing, or really anyone honoring this man. Thank you for your thorough analysis and work you put into making this. You did him justice.
One of my favourite vocalists performing one of my favourite songs. So sad to find that he's gone, and with so little mention anywhere. Had Fil's video not appeared in my feed I wouldn't have known.
I heard it on the national news broadcast the day of his passing but only that day. There have been a number of tributes that I've seen on RUclips but that's maybe because I search for their music. And it wasn't like he was a huge name big star like Prince or Linda Ronstadt or Sinead O'Connor who passed within a few days of each other. No doubt he was a major massive talent from his day but he just did not have that top billing marguee position or the longevity that others have had. It's getting harder to keep up because so many of these older greats from the 60s 70s 80s and even 90s are moving on without us.
Love the Eagles, especially when Randy was a member. Such a great, unique voice and incredible harmonies. Much of my guitar playing was based on their sound, and his bass playing was elegant. RIP Randy.
Bro, put a 30 second timer on. N 6:23 nobody would, or even could, hold a note that long. Lol. 10sec is pure madness, let alone 30; which isn't happening. Hahahaha
Nothing against TBS, but the Eagles vocals were just not as good after Meisner left. That also includes Don Felder departing. The Eagles were not the same after he left.
RIP Randy Meisner 1946-2023, condolences to Meisner Family and friends, bandmates. You are the reason I am a bassist, and Timothy B Schmitt. WE ❤ YOU and miss you 😢😭😭😭😭😭 . My heart is broken 💔!! Randy Meisner is an underrated bassist and vocalist.
The Eagles practiced their harmony, without instruments, constantly. That’s why they sounded so great. Randy Meisner was a great singer/song writer and was eventually under-appreciated by Glenn Fry and Don Henley. I liked them better as a band when Randy was with the group. RIP Randy. You are missed!
Timothy B. Schmidt is a great talent but I 100% agree that the Eagles were better with the incomparable Randy Meisner. I thought it was a bit blasphemous for them to perform this song without him in a lower key.
@@FaithCrisisSurvivor Agree, and to his credit Timothy would never sing this song, as he felt that Randy owned it. I saw the Eagles in 2003 at that Palace of Auburn Hills, (old Detroit Pistons home), this was performed with Glenn Fry on lead vocal, and as much as Glenn was an essential Eagle, the song sounded wrong. And of course Don Felder was missing, so the whole show, while competent, left me somewhat empty.
Randy was a great musician and fabulous vocalist and composer. Thank you for taking the time to pay respect to Randy and showing your followers why Randy was such an integral member of the band Eagles who contributed significantly to their success.
Not gonna lie....at the beginning of the video, when the music started, I broke down crying. It's insane how music can transport you somewhere else instantly. I remembered walking into my brother's house and he was playing bass to this song. He definitely loved the eagles, also, loved playing bass along with their 2nd album "Desperado". Sure miss my brother! But anyhow, the emotions it stirs.... Thank you fil, what a great analysis, as always!🌷 Rip Randy Meisner
RIP Randy!
In a band full of strong vocalists, Randy is the standout for me. His voice stirs the emotions, deeply. As the band would say, the fans would come to hear Randy hit those sublime notes. Superb analysis and appreciation as always, Fil.
@@spaceghost8995 so are you saying you didn’t expect the Eagles vocals to be great? They are brilliant in their vocals so you expect it, but Fil helps to point out all the nuances of why they are so great that most of us don’t notice.
@@colleenmurphy7812 You sound insane. No one is history has ever taken the Eagles vocals for granted. We all know how great their vocals always were. That's all I said. I have no idea whatsoever what you are barking about.
Randy is one of the most underrated tenors ever. He wasn’t comfortable taking center stage & was very self conscious that he might not hit the high notes night after night and was bullied by Henley and Frey for not wanting to sing it sometimes. He eventually walked away from the Eagles leaving his share behind. So sad.
Randy’s voice was never underrated. That’s such a silly thing to say about the best voice in the biggest band in the seventies. I brought my albums to my friends’ houses, because that was how we shared our music.
Underrated?? Why do I have to read this kind of comment on virtually every world famous artists videos?! What tf is it with people that they can’t choose sensible words?!
In fairness to Henley and Frey, the Eagles put themselves through more pressure than most bands I’ve ever seen, to sound as close to the record as possible every night they play, and this was in the 70s. Imagine what it is now. There’s a thing called the Circle of Fear that they do, where they stand in a circle backstage and rehearse the songs vocally. The old Seven Bridges Road video is a great example of it. There’s no hiding any kind of idiosyncrasies in that kind of environment. Randy’s self consciousness may have been rightfully warranted, but he also knew what he signed up for when he took the job.
I was definitely fortunate to see Randy sing with the Eagles on they’re Hotel California Tour. That was his last tour with them . When he sang this song he got the biggest standing ovation of the night. And he also sang the long version which he didn’t always do because it was tough for him to hit those notes every show…thanks for the music Randy..👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
You out did yourself tonight with this analysis, if you haven't told us the audio and video are from two different performances I would not have known. (RIP) Randy Meisner March 8, 1946 - July 26, 2023, and thanks for the great body of work you left behind to enjoy!
Whenever I hear the Eagles perform this I have to catch my breath. Such a vocal masterpiece. Now with Randy's passing it just tears me apart. Thank God we have these recordings and videos so they live with us forever. This was a remarkable and entertaining analysis. Rest in peace Randy. You will always be missed and loved.
@laurapeltier1913 but that's what makes the Eagles the greatest band ever. Every one of them can do it. Vocally..instrumentality lol. Depends on the song. Joe Walsh vs Randy? Depends on the song
@@SuziQ. yeah when people talked about him, but he just didn’t get talked about enough. Maybe the word underrated isn’t quite the right word, because when he did come up, people had wonderful things to say about him, but for some reason, he just didn’t come up very much so I can see why somebody might choose that word
I live in western Nebraska, not far from where Randy was born, so I am a bit biased. I also understand that the pressures of the road life and singing this song at the end of a concert when your vocal chords are tired were things that Randy complained about and contributed to his leaving the band. Still, his performance is undeniably incredible! So if you look back at promotional photographs of the band and see Randy wearing his yellow and green Frank Implement T-shirt with the John Deere logo on it, you will get a sense of the humble Nebraska boy who never let his level of talent or fame disconnect him with home.
I was born and raised in Scottsbluff and while graduating from Gering, his son Dana graduated from Mitchell the same year. My deceased brother-in-law was one of Dana's best friends and they used to drum together. I too worked at Frank Implement in the parts department for a few years until I made my way to Phoenix. I meet a couple friends every Friday night to karaoke and when Randy passed, I got the balls to sing Take It To The Limit in his memory. By the reaction of the crowd, I represented the song well; some saying I nailed it. I've heard it thousands of times and when I found out I could hit the high notes, it was always his songs I sang. A friend of mine mentioned One More Song, and embarrassingly enough I had never heard it. I spent about 2 hours figuring out the chords and learning the words and now have made it one of the songs I sing at Open Mic nights around Phoenix now. He was truly a gifted musician and above all, humble.
@@JohnJohnson-nm4qj I also enjoy karaoke and often sing in Scottsbluff (including later tonight), but my voice can't do justice to the top two or three notes that Randy could in his prime. You might also like "Midnight Flyer" which Randy sang lead vocals on. It was not a hit, but I enjoy it.
That’s what made the Eagles, The Eagles! Their vocals and harmonies, live, were spot on…as well as the instrumentation… they were really good! That’s what made me a fan. Lyrics, harmonies, and just the way they play! Great band! Thanks for making the video Fil!
Randy had such a great voice that fit so well with the Eagles sound. This song is one that made me an Eagles fan. So sad that squabbles made him leave. Thank you for honoring his memory Fil.
I remember a story that Randy left because of this song actually. Don and Glenn insisted that Randy sing this song at every show (understandably - it was a huge hit for them), and Randy resisted, saying that he needed to rest his voice after each performance - the most he could sing that song was once or twice a week, not every night. But Don and Glenn kept pushing. I remember hearing a live performance of this song where Randy definitely was not having a good voice day, and he struggled. It would be ironic for him to get driven out by his own song.
@@acfiv1421I know the performance you may possibly be talking about that caused the split. There was one show that Randy recalled as having performed Take It To The Limit as the encore (which was one night that Randy didn’t want to do the song, period), but a review of the same show says that the song was actually the final song of the entire show, not the encore, and Glenn, more than the other guys - surprising, including Henley - demanded that the song be performed. I’ve heard that Frey and Meisner literally came to blows backstage before the show.
Thank you. This is a really great analysis of Eagles and Randy’s singing. I don’t know anything about music except the pleasure it gives me. This song and the tribute to Randy Meisner is especially meaningful as we grew up at the same time in Western Nebraska, and I saw him perform many times at local performances as the leader of his band know as the Dynamics, and later as the Driving Dynamics. Great memories.
When I was a little kid (like 5 or so) I always thought to myself ‘is there a female singer in the group?’ Especially in this song and the background vocals on One of These Nights. But no, it was just the great vocals and high harmonies of Randy Meisner.
Dude you are a beast, this is the best vocal breakdown I’ve ever seen. You pointing out the subtlety and mimicking it and showing other ways it could be is so gratifying and intensified what the original is, which was pure music magic. Hats off lad. Dope shirt too.
Wonderful tribute Fil. Thanks for this. 70’s music was so good. Hope all doesn’t go the way of AI. So much emotion and soul of live performances will be missed. RIP Randy
Randy would fret and worry about hitting that note at the end...and drive the rest of the guys crazy with this worry. Then he does it, and the crowd RICHLY rewards him, (screaming and cheering,) with the band looking at each other, then Randy...in a "I told you so" kind of way...so sweet, and what a sweet talent, man he was.
Yes. It's "one of those songs". 'Take It To The Limit' 'Two Outta Three Ain't Bad' 'Take The Long Way Home' 'Reminiscing' 'I'd Really Like To See You Tonight'
Love this! Randy was so gifted. ❤The Eagles were a favorite of mine. I loved every song that you can hear Randy singing in, whether the Eagles or Poco. His voice is one of the reasons why I fell in love with the Eagles and Poco. They harmonized perfectly.
Randy had a lot of anxiety over this song. He didn’t want to sing it often…I can see why. I had NO idea they were this consistent. On of my fav bands growing up and I still listen to them often. Great analysis.
When Randy sings "...and you can't find the door...", the way he vocalizes 'door' has faithfully given me chills ever since I first heard the song as a very young girl, when it first hit the airwaves... He had a beautiful voice, and the harmonies in this song are simply gorgeous! For me, only Randy on the lead does this track justice - especially those high notes towards the end... THANK You FIL for this lovely Randy Meisner tribute - and Your marvelous analysis... which could've gone on and on - as far as I'm concerned!😉💕
This video is the reason I’m glad RUclips exists. Absolutely amazing video. I love how you can barely get through the first part without smiling haha this is truly one of the best performances ever and I do mean ever.
No need to autotune perfection. Great video. I remember listening to this on the car radio when it first came out. I never realized until years later how great the Eagles music really was.
It was a great time for music back in the 70's. There were so many great bands and songs including this one by The Eagles. You did a great job Fil with your analysis. Thank you so much for this tribute to Randy Meisner and may he Rest In Peace. 🙏
Wow, you sounded as close to Randy i ever heard. Awesome job..from a 64 year old beginner guitar player. I graduated high school in 1977...i play this song every day to sooth my soul, from North Alabama...RIP to RANDY & GLEN FREY...!!!..& TIMOTHY...
Hi Fil, This was a wonderful analysis and great tribute to Randy. He was a very talented and gifted musician. His vocals were amazing. You did a great job breaking down all the important elements of this song and most importantly Randy’s unmistakable singing voice. May he RIP….Debbie ☮️
Marketing wants to make sure that natural genius won't stand out against background mediocrity. If you never hear genius, it's a lot easier to sell mediocrity. Incoming performers may not ever know that they can and should strive for greatness.
Here is a hypothesis: it makes it easier for software to track where it is being used. It is quite difficult to track a live vocal performance. When the pitch is always accurate and consistent, the pattern is easier for the software to match.
Hi Fil. Thank you! I’m 70 years old and a lifelong Eagles fan. I’ve always loved their music for what it meant to me through my life. But thanks to you, I now appreciate the talent, the skills, the artistry in a more profound way. Awesome. I appreciate it and appreciate you. Thank you.
I’m a lifelong Eagles fan, and saw them live in concert back in the mid-1970’s. I know their work so well - I thought. But, isolating the vocals like this is so fresh and reinforces to me what a great group of talents they were. Very enjoyable analysis, thank you.
The ending of this song in this live version is so utterly "Balls to the Wall" that it makes me tear up, not cuz it's sad , it isn't really, but simply it is SO emotionlly naked and true. I feel this way more and more as I get older, and as WE ALL get older.
Oct 2024 hi fil this was a shock n made me sad 😢 somehow I missed Randy’s passing and hearing you say it in your intro was 😮 this vid is one of my favourites because of the way Glenn smiles as he hits the high notes, he must have heard it lots of times but still appreciates it! Love your work, keep it up 👍
I passed the battered old sign pointing to the defunct Little Moon Lake dancehall (where Randy got his start in 1961) many times driving from Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Torrington, Wyoming. I wondered who would go out to such an isolated place to play and dance in the long ago when the sign was new. Had I known it was Randy I'd have made the short pilgrimage. Just knowing he came from the rugged Wyobraska country tells me this guy got where he got though hard work and deep conviction. Thanks as always, Fil!
Thank you so much for honoring Randy with this!! I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis and tribute. What a voice! Brought me to tears. Rest in peace sweet, humble beautiful, Randy ❤

Between them and the Beatles, they were my musical education on singing harmony. (Even though I didn't realize it at the time. I was just a kid singing along with the radio.)
@@magnificentfailure2390 I wish he'd do an analysis of that one! I can't ever figure out all those harmonies!
Such a miraculous combination of creativity, talent, and total commitment to the music. It is a testament to the Eagles that their songs still give me chills, even after having heard them hundreds of times. The best.
Not only an incredible singer, but let's not forget how incredibly awesome he was as a bass player. RIP legend 🙏
RIP, Randy.
Best looking one in the band too - by a mile!
The isolation of the voices, I feel, reveals the beauty of this song even more so. It's breathtaking.
Thankfully some of their live performances has been captured in Eagles 1976 Live at The Forum (Los Angeles) album.
yes it is Bad I wonder of Don gave his permission or if it was their producers idea to auto tune
Love your comment, I agree 100%. I also have their live album Live at the Forum too, which I got back in 1980. That album captures a sound that can never be replicated today. A true treasure.👍☮️
And, amazingly George Grantham of Poco, the band Meisner left Far too early, was even a better, purer falsetto.
They were the best and Randy's vocals are the icing !!
My favorite album as well along with One of these Nights being my favorite song with my favorite Felder solo. Felder in my opinion is brilliant. 🎸❤
My wife and i were in the car and i told her Randy Meisner had died. She was never really into the Eagles so i put this song on. After, said it is one of the most beautiful voices she ever heard. It really is. What a performance !!!
Not only that, they're such sophisticated composers and sublime lyricists
Nobody ever could sing this song like Randy could! NOBODY!!!!! RIP Randy Meisner 💗 The Eagles were a very talented band . Every member had a talent of their own!!
They were blessed & should have always shown gratitude 🙏 However, drugs ruin many a great band sadly. Drugs alcohol & egos the three spiritual killers
I can believe it! Good for you.
Pure perfection. I was 19 years old and this song always brings me back to those carefree days. One of my favorite songs, performances. Randy was such a humble guy. They did him dirt and he deserved better. RIP Randy 😢
Before there was Autotune, there was talent. Simple as that.
There are still plenty of talented singers nowadays... your comment is kinda off the mark

(Yeah, that’s a dig at what passes for talent today.)

There's no denying "The Eagles" had the best harmonies of any band in recorded history.

Crosby, Stills and Nash are right up there with the Eagles with their vocal harmonies.
Randy had a beautiful voice.
Right there with the Beach Boys
I’ve listened to this song a million times since its release when I was just in high school. And every single time, I literally get goosebumps. IMO Randy was the heart of the Eagles.
He got lots of recognition.
@@kylemc8851Yes, but Henley and Frey get all the pub and money. It is obvious he might have been the true voice behind their peak brilliance. Though Henley was clearly lead on Hotel and Desperado.

Nothing against TBS, but the Eagles vocals were just not as good after Meisner left. That also includes Don Felder departing. The Eagles were not the same after he left.

And me..
@@FaithCrisisSurvivor could you have sung it in the same key as Randy ? doubt it
Say what you want about Henley
but he is extremely talented.
They probably felt threatened by his talent...
The greatest vocal performance by The Eagles nobody can match Randy’s lead vocal or that lineups harmonies and musicianship.

Man, you can't beat The Eagles. Always a special place in my heart.
Randy was an amazing singer. He could hit the highest notes so purely. And the emotion!
Yea I lost respect for Don and Glenn, real A-holes
Yes Randy stood out as the best singer in the group!!!!! And they lost him....
It’s 2024 and I’m missing true epic talent like this. Such a great analysis!
I was definitely fortunate to see Randy sing with the Eagles on they’re Hotel California Tour. That was his last tour with them . @@SuziQ. yeah when people talked about him, but he just didn’t get talked about enough. I never get tired of this video... Randy's beautiful voice and Glenn's grin at the audience's reaction.
I can relate..

Randy was born to sing to this song! Great tribute Fil!
His vocals on this song is stuff of legend. When you realize he’s also the high harmonies on many other early tunes, you’re just left in awe.
When I was a little kid (like 5 or so) I always thought to myself ‘is there a female singer in the group?’ Especially in this song and the background vocals on One of These Nights.
But no, it was just the great vocals and high harmonies of Randy Meisner.

Here is a hypothesis: it makes it easier for software to track where it is being used. It is quite difficult to track a live vocal performance. When the pitch is always accurate and consistent, the pattern is easier for the software to match.

THIS!! Thank you sooo much Fil for covering this. The emotion and technical wow of this performance just bowled me over. ❤
His voice was so rich, but also haunting. RIP🤘🏻
Haunting is the word.
Great bittersweet memories...nothing like our 70s music
His high harmonies were such a secret weapon for the band, too! Him on “One of These Nights” is nuts, and some of their other stuff.
Perfectly said, his voice was haunting and I would add, soulful!
