- Welcome to our BRAND NEW VANILLA series! As well as serving as an update to the year's template, this series will also serve as the ultimate guide to playing and building in my style as we hopefully head towards the end of the life cycle of Cities 1...This series will continue as episodes. Today we are using all the new roads that came with the November update to construct a now high density downtown road network frame. These things are essential in building downtown areas due to the amount of people that travel here! Lots of cool new things to try with everything added! Enjoy.

Never thought I would spend 100s of hours watching someone else play a video game and enjoy it so much.
I like those infrastructure episodes ! Infrastructure planning is one of my week spots when building a city, so the inspiration and exemple of a thought process is welcome, thank you as always for coming up with great designs !

The road layout is so excellent and walkable.
Skyline will be even better in December with the Financials DLC mixing up with the Skyscrapers DLC. Now, I hope next DLC pack for next year be a "Beaches and Seaports". SO we can have better cruise ship docks and ports as well as a more realistic beach life :)
The new trams, the new roads, the (relatively) new stations.... boy-oh-boy.... I could almost play this game vanilla.

Loving the idea of having a second skyline! As you said, very New York-like with Downtown and Midtown, and also like London with the City and Canary Wharf. It'll add a great new dimension to the city. Very excited to see what you come up with!

Like these road grid episodes because it provides us with the anticipation for what is to come soon.
Also love the new roads! A lot of cycle paths! :)
And these are technical and very basic aspects of the game, so it is also very useful to see and hear and think about, even if not that spectacular. But the spectacle is built upon these foundations.

Depends on the build really is to whether or not it needs to be tested. A generic suburb expansion will be mostly improv with specific areas planned or an idea in mind. On the other hand, something like an airport has to be nearly fully drafted before it gets recorded so I know whats going on with something that big :)

Yk I looked at this comment and thought “I mean I know a few examples of cities with arterials very near their runways” then I watched the part in the video, now Im thinking “that’s very very much closer than I first thought”
The airport I work at has a 4 lane road pretty much right next to the runway end so not unheard of. Tho ye I would move it a bit away either way

I need to grab parks and plazas when it goes on sale. I would love to have a metro on the border of the pedestrian and downtown roads with one connected on either side.

Thank you again for these videos. I've learned so much. I'm currently on episode 24 following along. I've taken what I have learned and started a new city on the Tropical Pass map that you reviewed so helpfully. I'm still on the first tile, but I have a ring road serving communities, the highway I extended through the middle with plenty of room to grow onto the next tile. I've learned to think bigger picture with my roads and communities. Oh, and the crowning achievement is my hilltop suburbia which I made with zero terraforming. Oh, and you'll pleased to hear I have plenty of walking pathways, and I've carefully selected assets for my skyline on the hilltop. A quick question: the music you have for your timelapsed detailing, is that ingame music?

Does anyone else find it personally offensive that they’re isn’t a tram turn around outside the glass box station? What is that… Planes trains trams and metro all lashed together I need it in my life!
Btw a Korean/Chinese town in the city center might be cool I think you said it in the episode of the new CCP maybe instead of a sort of Central Park?
