It amazes me to see you young ppl getting into our oldies--I'm 58. The Bee Gees were considered pop music back in the day and while we loved it, we didn't realize then just how great they were.
I'm 56...and can remember back in the mid-late 70s when the disco age started. There was such conflict between rock enthusiasts and disco followers. Thin lines between genres. Hearing the Bee Gees...and the soul poured out is different now than back then. The high tenors and falsettos are far more amazing to me now than when I was a teenager.
I’ve seen in interviews with Barry - in regards to their harmonies- that when Barry and Robin sang, Maurice (pronounced “Morris”) instinctually always new where to fall in to complete the three part harmony. Even my 19yr old has this song on her playlist! 😁
That's awesome. Raise her right. My son is almost 26 & he knows all the good music. He watched the Bee Gee's One Night Only special when he was 2 yrs old & had to have the video. He watched it everyday many times a day. It blows him away the young people not knowing all this music. I blame the parents.
My son is 15 and loves the Bee Gee's and so many more old groups. I raised him and his sister to have an appreciation of all genres of music and it definitely shows! My son just got onto the Delfonics! To imagine, the Delfonics?! I was so proud when he said, "Dad, do you know the Delfonics?" I was like, "Hell Yeah I do!!" LOL
The perfect meshing of the harmonies come from the fact that their brothers. Family members who can sing have the ability to harmonize that way, it's genetic.
The Bee Gees are a monument more a mountain of music history. I think , their boldest decision in their life was to give in to Andy's desire to be a part of it , cause Andy's flight was too high and had such a tragic ending . RIP Andi, Robin, Maurice

All profits of this song was donated to charity. Barry's voice is sung in falsetto in this song. He also has a beautiful lower range. They are awesome!!!
It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad! The 1st time I heard this song, I was 15 years old. I was sitting on the floor in our living room. They sang with so much emotion that I had tears running down my face. It didn't hurt that before this I found out that Barry and I shared the same birthday, me in 1963 and him in 1946. While I was crying, my daddy came in and told me to knock it off or he'd change the channel. He was mean. I was a Bee Gees fan before disco, even though I was only 11 or 12. And then there was Andy. I loved him immediately. As a teenager, I always thought Barry and I were soulmates ever since finding out we were both born on Sept 1st. I figured that out when I was 12 years old. I'm still waiting for him to leave his wife for me. LOL Now I understand why I loved Andy too. He and Barry were so similar. Looking at photos of Barry in his late teens and early 20's is like seeing photos of Andy. They had similar styles and voices too. If I close my eyes when Andy is singing "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" or "Words", he sounds just like Barry. They were also very close. Some time after Andy's death, I heard Barry say in an interview that losing Andy nearly broke him. RIP Andy, Maurice and Robin.
It is believed the myocarditis was itself caused by excessive cocaine use. I for one believe it. I worked in a prison and saw coke addicts in their early 20's with myocarditis. I pass no judgement on him. Cocaine was handed out like candy in the music industry of the 70's.

The reason the Bee-Gees sound so good when all three are singing in harmony with each other is because their voices are almost identical in how they sound. They're so close together in terms of pitch and tone that it sounds like the same person singing in harmony with himself. There are a few other groups that had that same thing going on - like the Claudettes (check out their hit, "Mr. Sandman) and the Everly Brothers (check out "All I Have To Do Is Dream).
This was in the 70's. They'd been writing songs and singing together (professionally) since the late 50's at that point, so that's like 10 - 12 years together professionally; but they're all 3 brothers, so imagine them singing from early youth until this point... They also wrote songs and, at least once or twice, an entire album for someone else as well. Not just music but lyrics too. One of the most talented and amazing bands ever.
You must have to check their best three part harmony song it is for sure: Fanny Be Tender - Barry will blow you out the water 🔥💪👍Quincy Jones told the best RnB Song he had ever heard 🍾
I was lucky to be alive as a young lady when they were HUGE in the 70's. FABULOUS! They were the real thing, with talent and appeal to spare. I think that the harmony factor being so close and perfect has to do with them being from the same family. They shared sound in their genetics.

I’ve always felt that the “Spirits Having Flown” album not only was their greatest because they did something that almost never happens in music. They followed up a pop culture phenomenon in the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack with another blockbuster. This album had three straight number one cuts. Truly amazing!
Love the Bee Gees!! The best group ever. I have been a fan all my life, their music just touches your soul. They are tremendous singer/song writers and performers. Love your reaction.
Great reaction. You both picked out everything that makes it special. It might not be your jam but it's undeniable on the talent. Even the vibrato is in unison
Anyone with any musical background not only knows how difficult falsetto is to sing but to sing in a falsetto harmony is the icing on the cake. They were put down and referred to as "The Chipmunks" of pop music but that was just hater speak.... Great reaction!!
This video's visual is a live-in-studio performance with musicians tracks (BTW, Horns from the band Chicago there). We see Barry sing a lead vocal track, and Maurice and Robin sing harmonies. Afterwards, they added more vocal tracks of each singing harmony to get a rich "3-part harmony" which was 3 tracks of each singer. Barry also added more vocals syncing to his lead vocal. So, we are hearing what we are seeing, just hearing more than what we see - tell me how can Barry sing his part of their 3-part harmony live and also sing his lead vocal? There are a few live recordings of them doing a shorter version of this song, but they are a number of years afterwards so not really able to compare what they sounded like live in the 70's. We are lucky to see this. Most videos of the day were lip-syncing to the studio recording(like their "How Deep Is Your Love" video). A cool in-the-studio video is The Who making "Who Are You", including them laying down the claps.
They have 22 albums. Have fun going down this rabbit hole.Yes, it is their "real voices" given that this was recorded about 18 years before the very first auto-tune processors were invented. Without any electronic methods of enhancing voices, it was simply called "talent"
This is straight up live!! Damn I grew up musically spoiled!! This is giving me chills and I really didn't dig on the BEE GEES back in the day except for their disco music 🎶. I danced to this in the 79s!!
Born in the early 70s, I was raised on all the 60s n 70s music because of my Mom. The Bees Gees, Kool n the Gang, Hall n Oats, Neil Diamond etc. my playlist is Strong!!!!! lol.....Thank You to all the Legends of All Music!!!! If I remember correctly, I believe this video was a TV special and they performed. I was young but I think i remember it.
Just watched their documentary. What a long trip for them, especially for Barry. That vocal and harmony tightness comes from singing together since they were 5 years old. Strong input from today's artists who look back on them as deities. It's worth a viewing. Also, it would be great to hear you react to "Love So Right". Cheers.

No doubt
If you listen closely, even their vibrato syncs perfectly.
Al Green covers Bee Gees "How Do You Mend A Broken Heart" (Soul 1972) You've never heard anything like it! Barry loved it! 🔥
Asia, never have seen someone melt into a song,it's such a beautiful thing
I was lucky to be alive as a young lady when they were HUGE in the 70's. FABULOUS! They were the real thing, with talent and appeal to spare.
I think that the harmony factor being so close and perfect has to do with them being from the same family. They shared sound in their genetics.
Me to im all most 62 WOOOOW the time flew by , I miss the 70s so bad , My family was close we lived in Kodiak Alaska It was very pretty peaceful ,, God blessed me and my family so much my child hood I would not trade for a billion dollars , I would like to go back and do it ALL OVER AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT
Listening to this song and watching Asia smile is Too much heaven. The song just has that impact on everyone that listens to it whether it’s your first time hearing it or like me the 1000 times it just fills your heart n soul with love. Fantastic reaction guys probably one of the best breakdown of the song. I was brought up listening to the bee gees absolute masters. Looking forward to watching some of your other reaction.
You two are so cute ! I so enjoy seeing people who enjoy all types and appreciate different music. Bless you both.
what i loved the most about music back then , which is what i grew up on , was there was no such things as auto tune , no cumputized voice enhancement or anything like that , it was just talent
This is evidence it doesn’t matter what era you’re from this is music no matter if it’s 44 years ago or 44 seconds ago
The boys were born on the Isle of Man, which is an island between England and Ireland. The Isle of Man has cats with no tails, known as Manx Cats.
Beautiful voices and harmonies! Angelic!
These guys are among the BEST! Check out their 60s recordings - then you will appreciate their vocal range!
If this song doesn’t touch your heart nothing will!! They just take you to another place!! There will never be another group like them!! Watch Fanny be tender with my love!! An older song but awesome!!
Love their music. So the old songs y'all do takes me back to some good times and good memories. Love it! ♥️✌️
LOVE the huge smile on Asia´s face during the song. The still give me chills after 50 years
Anyone with any musical background not only knows how difficult falsetto is to sing but to sing in a falsetto harmony is the icing on the cake. They were put down and referred to as "The Chipmunks" of pop music but that was just hater speak.... Great reaction!!
If you love these harmonies, then you would love their live concerts.
When Barry hits that first high note it all makes sense💯. Great group, Great sound...
Yeah, the BeeGee's songs had a nickname. 'Baby-making music' I think a lot of people would agree.
Their Album, Children of The World is an incredible mix of the Brothers that that covers all Genres and even created another! TRY IT YOULL LOVE IT!
I love ❤️ watching the reactions by people who know music 🎶. Everyone is blown away… it’s truly heavenly…
The bee gees have such great harmony you can hear each voice clearly
I like some of the early Bee Gees songs like "Words", "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart", "Massachusetts" and "I've Got To Get A Message To You".
These 3 brothers were amazing singers. Rest In Peace to Maurice and Robin.
The Bee Gees were the Bomb, Still are in my book, I'm a 70's girl and there will Never be any like them
VERY TRUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Love the Bee Gees, great memories, 70's music is the best!!!
I COULD NOT have said that any BETTER
Best band ever!! Harmonies. Songwriting..can't ever be beat!!
Blood harmony are so beautiful, I suppose it’s programmed in DNA for musical siblings. Love it!
Damn....I sure was born in the right era. I grew up on this stuff. I love the look on Asia's face as she's listening. I feel ya Asia
oh my gosh,
reminds me of being on the church bus, during a road trip and snuggling up to my "honey" circa 8th grade.
thanks for the memories
They have 22 albums. Have fun going down this rabbit hole.Yes, it is their "real voices" given that this was recorded about 18 years before the very first auto-tune processors were invented. Without any electronic methods of enhancing voices, it was simply called "talent"
This song takes you places, bring a tear, or goose bumps, warmth, the sincerity of the lyrics and song
This is straight up live!! Damn I grew up musically spoiled!! This is giving me chills and I really didn't dig on the BEE GEES back in the day except for their disco music 🎶. I danced to this in the 79s!!
I feel the same way, it almost like we took them for granted back then. Now after all these years I appreciate their talent even more.
Cheers.
The Brothers Gibb made music magic. The harmonies, just amazing. The songs too. I grew up with them from the early days. Now that's some music too.
The Bee Gees experience.
BOOM! 💥‼️
Yeah.
Just like that.
SMOOTH BABY.
I'm getting ready to go do something.
Like I've never done it before.
👈🏾😎
Yeah.
Come here mommy.
Daddy has something for Ya.
💕💓💞
Gotta go Y'all.
Barry can hit them notes can't he? 💖 A lot of the first timers said that they sound like angels/choir. You are the only ones that blurred out the screen, but I love your reactions to the song. No autotunes or gimmicks back then. I'm glad I came up in that era. All of the songs back then were smooth, full of love and respect. Also back then everyone shared the spotlight. No one tried to be above the others. SUBSCRIBED!
I think the Bee Gee's were the first and only trio that I've ever heard do a three-part falsetto and that makes them unique.
Enjoyable reaction! They are without peer! I'm ancient, so I was a Bee Gees fan as a sophomore in college back in 1967. I'm also a gambling woman. Every time, I could bet on the reactions to this band of Brothers Gibb and win. I can't lose with the Bee Gees. Love these guys!
The Bee Gee's were THE BEST!!! This is my fav. song ever!
Hearing The BeeGees you now know how the Angels in heaven sound!!
This is the beauty of having family members who are blessed with talent! Their mother said they used to sing together as kids in their bedroom but she thought they were listening to the radio!! These men were born with it!! R. I. P. Robin and Maurice!!
I’m so glad did you guys don’t stop the song every few seconds like a lot of people who are reactors great job
I absolutely love your reaction videos. It's wonderful to see young people enjoying the music of my teens. We had three local channels on TV. Music was everything in the 70's. Disco dancing at high school dances when teens went to prom and dances to dance all night.
I've heard this song 500 times and I still laugh like y'all are. Unbelievable.
This SONG is heaven! Watching you both enjoy this song brings me such joy! Thank you! ❤
Listen to .Love inside and out. Another great Bee gees song
Chris Rea ....Fool if YOU THINK its OVER, CLOSED OUT THE 70S beautifully!
What really makes this song are the strings and the light, airy accompaniment that gives you the feeling of floating on a cloud.
This is the perfect "date night" song with your husband/wife/partner....how romantic? OMG... would love to hear Home Free do this one.
They have been singing n song writers since Barry was 9 n the twins were 6 crazy wonderful 😍 look up the videos😄
Great reaction to another great song! Plz try Fanny be tender live...vocals by all 3 bgs is insane! Quincy Jones calls it his fave r&b song.
Growing up when this music was fresh was a great expirence. I remember staying up Friday nights listening to this music. Pure magic
