Just what I needed. Two years after we stopped using the Wii, we can play again. Three discs were jammed in it, including one PS2... Go figure. Thank you so much.

Three yrs later and your video is still helping folks. First gen Wii's have gotten pretty pricey stateside with the slow death of many of these GameCubes. Picked one up for $30 that wouldn't eject. Was hoping for a game in there but it turned out to be a lens cleaner disc. Underneath that a kiddo had shoved in a receipt and it had completely wrapped itself around the laser. Got that out and it works like magic! Thank you my friend for making my kids very happy and for making me a hero-dad once again. 💪🤓🙌

I heard a story where one kids mum threw their wii across their room in rage, and all that happened was a couple scratches and a broken controller lid thing. Other than that, it worked. Later in his life he started collecting and he opend it up to compare it to a new or good condition one. And, it was fine. Wxactly like the good one.

This helped me out so much. My 5 year old stuck a playing card in my 17 year olds wii that she's had forever and a day and was still in great condition. Now though I ended up with one screw left over while putting it back together lol. But I plugged it up and it works great again! Thank you so much for this video!!
What were you thinking when you had a 17 year old and a 5 year old? That's a huge age difference. Little kids are definitely the ones to watch out for.
Hi - thanks very much for the video. My 2 year old put an extra 2 (!) DVD’s in the wii and 3 just didn’t seem to work. So, followed your instructions up to getting the front case off, then simply used tweezers to pull the 2 extra dvds out. And the wii is back working now. Really appreciated and don’t have to buy another wii now! Thanks.

Same with me, but i followed the video, and when i was at the disc part, i just sat there and played a little bit with it, like you know......and then out of no where it began working. magic :)
Finally got the right tools to open up our wii. Found 2 copies of beauty and the beast dvd, 1 wiggles dvd and wii arcade zones. Kids will shove whatever they can fit.

Thank you! I successfully removed a jammed disc thanks to your help. Nothing else was in the disc drive though.....just an old, worn-out machine which had already been replaced, so it was fun taking this one apart without having to worry about damaging it. Haha

Looks like Emily was having quite the party sticking that party mix cd in there with Wii play already inside, then sticking money in there. How easy is it to insert 2 CDs in the first place?

You can still buy the CD drives add spares for the wii. It might be worth Picking up a replacement

I did everything in the video, the wii is ejecting again. But once I put a disk in, I can hear it trying to spin but it won’t. why?
Perhaps the drive motor is damaged
The screw on the inside is rlly hard to find a screwdriver because the Wii doesn’t want you to open it lol, good luck to you all I’m trying to figure mine out right now

I found running a thin card through the disc drive and pulling it out when it starts to spit the paper out it gets the disc out. But I was trying to get a GameCube game out of it.
What's up with kids putting money in Wii Consoles? There was a old pound coin jammed in mine!

my original wii drive is broken i later replaced it with an new one that can read gamecube games since it was a white wii
thanks for this! I usually just repair NES and was going to order a new disc drive for this little sucker until I opened it and got 1 penny from it! appears to be a common issue for the Wii piggie bank models
My kids definitely give games consoles a hard time. I am amazed at how much abuse the WiiU takes. You would think the screen a week point, but it's survived some throws 😂

My wife and I are just recently divorced, and about a month and half ago, so told me their Wii I bought them around 6 years ago, and soft modded wouldn't take their 3 in one GameCube DVD with Super Mario Sunshine and couple Sonic games wouldn't go in it anymore. Also, around the US holiday Thanksgiving, she and I were going to play Super Mario Wii, and I realized half the Soft Mod Channels missing, so I looked the unit over and saw the SD card was missing. So we asked our 2 year old daughter, and she said in the Wii.... But somehow she stuck it in the Wii DVD drive, and 3 movie DVD's that my wife and I had been searching for before our separation in December. My 10 year old son is so happy and excited now. I sent pictures of everything our now 3 year old daughter stuck in the Wii.

Awesome, I am still loyal to my Wii. I play Gamecube games on it, but have had issues for a while. I just have to buy a small screwdriver like you have, I will give this a go, and let you know the results.

I have a different issue with my wii, it boots and runs just fine, Homebrew and all, just can't insert or remove any disks... the mechonism for pulling the disk in failed and I don't have a tri-wing screwdriver... can anyone help me with that by chance?

It’s fucking bullshit that you have to order special screwdrivers just to fix something you paid money for. Because apparently $250 new back in 2009 wasn’t enough money to have a working fucking console that actually functions.

Probably the disc but Smash works but Super Mario Bros Wii doesn't it would always say error any problems?

i just bought a used wii and when i try to put in a disc it only goes in like 2 thirds. there might be something stuck in there. havent looked yet but sure will do

I have the exact same problem, I started up my wii and took out the game that was in. I inserted another game and everything worked perfectly! After a while I took the game out and put another game in, the wii tries to get the disc in but it looks like its stuck. After a few seconds the wii spits the disc out!

I legit just got my one GameCube game stuck so this will be quite handy.
Update: I strategically shook my Wii till the GameCube disc was in the right orientation and then pressed the eject button. (So hey...some problems call for the stupidest solutions) XD
I smashed a jammed Xbox One button and I put the button back in place properly and it worked after that. That is an another dumb solution that just works. Also, I never gotten a gamecube stuck in my wii and I had it for 12 years. You probably just have to put it in carefully.

I live in the USA. my wii don't accept disk unless i put cd disk cleaner on the game then it loads. Could the eye be going out or just really dirty????

The spring that catches GameCube discs is broken so when you put a Wii game in the springs get stuck so if you put a GameCube disc I it Wii rattle in there so you Wii need to open it and put is back in place can you help me fix it

What tool do you use for the screws with the prong head my small Phillips doesn’t work
It's a tri-blade extra driver, you can Google Nintendo screwdriver and it will probably come up

why does my wii bring in a cd perfectly, but... when i eject it, it makes this terrible noise and nothing happens, so all i do is just press eject over and over again, I opened it up and cleaned everything. this is still happening. it won't even load the game when i put it in. PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!! I'M TOO POOR TO BUY ANOTHER WII PLUS THEY ARE HARDLY ON SALE ANYMORE. PLEASE DON'T TELL ME IT'S BROKEN.
First try cleaning any roller wheels in there. If they have polish or a glaze on them they will not be able to grab the disc

You will need to go inside and clean it
i followed the tutorial and before putting it back together I tested the disc drive, pressed the wii power button on using a screwdriver, saw a little spark, and now my wii is dead.

I have extracted a 2 pence piece from mine but the mechanism is Jammed up somehow so I can’t get it working! Looks like I’ll get a replacement drive from eBay or wish!
Keep your Original PCB From your Disc Drive
Pot Snob Steve did so and I decided to just for the pcb back in without the rest of the disc drive so the wii will still work without errors and put a 2.5 hdd inside where the disc drive once was so now it’s a wii with internal hdd and no disc drive apart from the board so it will still work! I though this is better since I already softmodded it!

Since I'm a pokemon games collector I was trying to test a Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness I just bought, the disc didn't work, had to buy a cheap wii game, didn't work either....
So I came to youtube to check for wii drive issues, FOUND YOUR VIDEO, AND INSTEAD OF A COIN, THIS DAMN WII HAD A DAMN KEY CHAIN INSIDE!!! It even damaged my precious disc a little bit but fortunately, after this video I was able to remove it and everything worked like a charm... Thank you so much!!!

Where do I get a screw set for my Wii
5 year old video but my Wii is giving me ejection issues as well. It plays and reads discs just fine but no matter how many times I press the eject button, it won't spit the disc out. It's been giving me problems since 2018 or 2019 and it's really frustrating. I was able to get one disc out by holding the button for 5 seconds but now I can't get the current disc out no matter how many times I press eject. What should I do other than taking it apart?

Awesome video! But i do have a close, but unrelated problem. You know the wheel in the middle of the drive that kinda locks the discs in place (when you insert a disc) for me, its locked down and my disc cant fit in because of it. My eject button broke while i had a disc in. Anything helps, please

Lol I have the same problem, my brothers jammed in 2 discs I hope they will be ok to use because I think it was super smash brothers brawl and bakugan but it’s very unlikely

This was so helpful! My 3 year old brother shoved a Nintendo switch cartridge into the disc drive of the Wii and I was able to get it out after watching this, and the Wii worked good as new!

How do I take the disk out without dismantling the whole thing?
Try to press the EJECT button. If it doesn't work, there's no way other than disassembling the console
I just press my eject button till I can safely get my Wii play disc out (my Wii can't read discs or show the animation for a Foreign disc)
