      Me too! I just got mine today! So exciting ... have been without a small oven for about a week and am so hungry .. my potatoes came out delicious, crispy outside and fluffy inside and it took only 12 min at 400 (2 or 3 min preheat) (Frozen MCCain 9 min potatoes). I love all these recipes she has ... I hope you are loving your oven as much as I am :)

    Thank you Lana, my Vortex arrived a couple hours ago, and I'm ready because I've watched you for the last couple days. I did the test bake, and then made frozen potatoes that came out perfectly ... I can't wait to spin some chicken wings in the basket ... this was our winning choice because we love rotisserie chicken. The oven is smaller than I expected, I don't think there's any way our normal frozen pizza will fit, we will see how much crust we have to cut off .. but so far so good ... thank you for making videos for this oven ... I hope it lasts a very long time

      Wow thank you so much for your lovely comments and I'm so glad I could be of help. You are correct, a regular size pizza won't fit. You can flip a tray upside down to give you more surface area, but I think the largest pizza to fit would be an 8 inch.

    I had a fail doing cupcakes and cake tonight in the Vortex. For the first 6 cupcakes, I used the air fry at 325. Unfortunately, they were all very lopsided, and not a little, a lot. The blowing air just must be too much. Then I tried an oval shaped cake in bake at 330. Like I normally do anytime I bake a cake, I wrapped the pan with a cake strip to keep it from doming. Ha! I can’t imagine what it would have looked like without the cake strip. The cake looked like a mountain. 😂 It tastes fine, but it truly has a steep peak in the middle. I’m so bummed as I was really wanting to bake small batches without having to turn on the regular oven. I’m wondering now if this isn’t the best unit for us to have.

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 лет назад +3

      Oh no, I'm so sorry they didn't work out. Cupcakes and muffins slant because of the air blowing. They are very delicate when they rise so the fan will blow them over. One trick you could try is to place the other tray on the top position and place the tray with the cupcakes on the bottom. This will help deflect the air a bit. As for the cake, an oval pan will dome more probably because the sides are farther from the middle so they get done quicker and stop rising while the middle keeps rising. If you have cloth cake strips you can dip them in water to help keep the sides even cooler.

    • @samhugh4965
      @samhugh4965 5 лет назад +2

      Lana Under Pressure...oh, good tip about putting the other rack on top. I used my silicone wraps, but I have older cloth wraps I can try also. Ya know, for cupcakes, I might try placing the dip tray on the top rack to diffuse the air even more. Thanks!

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  5 лет назад +1

      Absolutely! I will say if your chicken is over 4 lbs the spit isn't the best. Also, it only had 2 tongs which doesn't hold larger chickens well. One idea is place your chicken feet first in the basket and air fry 400 or Roast. That works.

    Hi Lana, I just ran across your video for the rum cake, it looks so delicious! I’ve made rum cakes in the past and used a Bundt pan in my regular oven but … the recipe called for the crushed pecans on the bottom of the Bundt pan. My question is, could you add the pecans to this recipe as well? My family always requests the traditional rum cake during the holidays and this would make it so much easier! Also, I have added a Power XL dual basket 9qt air fryer to our RV, would it be possible to make your rum cake in it as well? Thank You in advance for any help you can provide!

      Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you use my recipe or do you mean it happens in general? It sounds liek the temp is too high. But one tip is to place the tray rack on the top level so it blocks the air flow in the beginning slowing down the browning on top and allows the cake to rise first. Aslo, wrapping the sides with foil or a baking sleeve really helps too.

    • @LanaUnderPressure
      @LanaUnderPressure  4 года назад +1

      Awe thank you for the kind words and for subscribing. Most cake batters made for cake pans like a 9 or 8 inch, are made to make 2 layers. Not just because of the air fryer but just in general. Usually if someone is making a cake in a round 8 pan, they are doing it to make a layer cake, so you need at least 2 layers. Just about every box mix makes enough for 2 round layers.
