    You should be checking the temperature of the chicken in the thigh instead of the breast. It is the thickest part of the chicken and let’s you know if it is completely cooked. Don’t tent your chicken with foil while it is still hot. It takes the crispness away from the skin. But the chicken still looks awesome!

      I feel like you could drop the oven temp to 165° and let it rest in there without the foil. Maybe 140° so it's not too hot but within the food safety recommendations (provided you got that instant read of 165° on the thigh). I haven't attempted this yet, but I plan on using my Meater probe to ensure I have the internal temps right.

    Thanks! I just got our Vortex Plus & was wanting to do a chicken on rotisserie. We have the old time Ronco rotisserie that made awesome chicken but it is a pain because it always gets unbalanced as it spins. I appreciate the step by step guide. Cheers!

    OMGOMGOMG I just bought a 5 pound whole chicken to specifically cook rotisserie style in my vortex air fryer but I’ve been watching other videos and have been getting disappointed because I’m seeing that you can’t rotate a whole chicken bigger than 4 pounds. Yessss you saved me

    I tried your method twice with the Vortex Pro and it came out perfectly each time. I can't find a small enough chicken to rotisserie, so this method works great.

    I just did a rotisserie 3.5 lb chicken which fits well. It was great! To know that I can roast a larger one here was a game changer for me. Goes to show I'm just not really that smart when it comes to cookin'. I love my Vortex and thank you for this video!

    • @TheDrunkenButcher
      @TheDrunkenButcher  4 года назад +2

      You can use the rotisserie for up to 4lbs but, as long as it fits, you can put a bigger bird on the bottom shelf. Just have to rotate it manually.
      Glad you enjoyed your chicken!

      You can but I would not recommend it. I've seen people who have left them plugged in and they randomly start. Also, it is best to unplug anything not in use to save on electricity.

      @@hunterhawk5710 you’re so right. The chicken has to be under 4 pounds. You have to truss it up tight all over and the pole/mechanism is tricky to put in right. I bought it specifically for the rotisserie function and now I’m greatly disappointed.

      It's not recommended. On the trays with the holes, you want that air flow. Also, the trays are coated with teflon so they are extremely easy to clean.

    You didn't wash the chicken

    • @TheDrunkenButcher
      @TheDrunkenButcher  4 года назад +10

      You should never wash chicken before cooking because it increases the risk of salmonella poisoning. The bacteria that you can wash away can and will splash everywhere. However, most of the bacteria cannot even be washed off. That is why you have to cook until 165 degree internal temperature.
