- In this brand new series, the boys have $10,000 each to buy a rear/mid engine car which will then go to battle through a series of challenges that MCM fans will choose.

Fun Fact: the MR2 was never sold as the MR2 in France: MR2 or 'Emm Aire Deux", phonetically, sounds like Merde, the french word for Sh*t.
Moog's MRPoo is, therefore, weirdly accurate.
What was their name then? Just curious, as I've kindo of bought a mk3 MR-2 in france once, and I believe it was called the Spyder?

No joke, I've been searching, and I pretty much gave up on finding a decent one for a reasonable price the second it rolled into frame for exactly this reason. I'll try again in 12 months, maybe.

I was thinking fiero (I live in USA they're common here) but it's way too cheap for $10,000. Of course so are MR2s here. I think for $10k, I'd maybe have tried for a porsche boxster.

RPF-1's are such timeless wheels. They look great on so many cars. My buddy Elliott built one with a moulded widebody, custom J-Line wheels, coilovers, etc. Was such a sick car👍😎

3S-GTE it's such a good motor, that's why they raced it in the Supra for the JGTC instead of the 2JZ-GTE
Soo true the only weird thing is that in gran turismo 2 the castrol toms supra has a 2jz for some weird reason 🤔
Well.. sort of. Mainly it was just wayyyy lighter than the iron block 2jz, which helped a lot with the handling.
It was the race version, the 503e or something like that. Shared very little with the road going 3sgte but based on it. Could handle like 800hp and the displacement was bumped to 2.1l
@@DennisH22A what im trying to say is that gran turismo 2 got the engine of the castrol toms supra wrong because like you sead it has a 3sgte but the game description says l6 instead of l4
A 3S-GTE with stock internals can easily handle 300HP.
Please dont change the way it looks, so perfect how it is, especially those enkei rpf1’s
Gareth Ashcroft AKA Expression Culture There are many options that are far better looking wheels for the MR2 which do not sacrifice performance or quality. RFP01s are so bland.
I love how they are still friends like eventually everyone I watch has a fall out with each other but not these guys! Can’t wait to see moogs new car ☺️

9:09 I've never seen a turbo mr2 for less than $6k over here in east coast US. The non turbo's definitely go for less but the few turbos that pop up are not dirt cheap in my area
same here in canada, i knew a guy who got a good deal on a non turbo aw11 for 3k

These are no longer as cheap as they used to be ANYWHERE. You'll easily pay 2x what you would have been able to get one for just 4-5 years ago.

I kind of wish they didn't do that fake rivalry and hating each other's cars and ideas for the sake of entertainment, they never used to or at least not take it nearly as far in the older days.

as someone who drove one for a while...pls don't :) although the only really bad thing is the bad automatic transmission- so a manual conversion (no idea what transmission would fit in there...) would be nice to see

Those MR2 are a great platform to start from. Bulletproove technology and quality and much room overhead for customization and tuning. The gear alone ist used in many custom projects in other brand´s cars... 👍

Murray Ball first time I saw one of these it was wrapped around a power pole.
I was told that the guy who was on the bus to college with my mate, pointed at the spot in the road where his MR2 lay in a field rolled over when he took a corner too fast... shortly after he then said "and there's my other one too!" He'd done exactly the same with the replacement he got!!!

I love MR2s, it's actually what my work revolves around. I've owned 4 personally, currently working on 3.5 v6 swapping mine. At my work we have 16 or 17 in various stages. Currently building one for a SEMA car too. Very excited to see how this progresses!

@@Shiver2002 But this way it gives you more of a motive to complete it. And you don't need to upload everyday. Each day and free time you have with the car, just film it when you can. Upload it later on.

Loved my MR2 (SW20) - great square engine 3SGTE (86mm bore x 86mm stroke)... your handbrake needs to be adjusted!! (very common issue with them!!) - looks like it might be a revision 2 (which means a lot of the issues with twitchy handling would have been improved) - someone has also replaced the rear lights and centre panel with a revision 3+ setup.
I love your videos, so I started making my own car videos. Thank you for the inspiration! I got into making some basic daily vlogs about my Jeep. I tried to do it everyday. I just don’t know where to get the inspiration and motivation to be able to upload everyday.

I've owned my sw20 mr2 for 12 years. I love the car, its definitely a different kind of experience, but its easy to work on and fun to drive. and ill never get rid of it

I had the 2nd gen in highschool I just picked up a first gen last year and it's a blast. Looks like a lifesize matchbox car.

YES! And a coupe! :) Had one and it's and an absolute blast.
I had one of these in the UK. It totally deserved its reputation as swapping ends too easily. I spun mine twice, once a full 540 degress on a narrow road.

I have always had a soft spot for the MR2, and this exact car is on my unicorn list.
I have a JDM black hardtop MR2 Turbo just like this one, it's great, I definitely recommend one! I never had it snap oversteer on me by the way, but I run wider tyres in the rear than the front though, so I think that helps! :)
The mid-engine setup is amazing! I own an MG TF 160 that has the same layout but weighs less I think. Having that raspy engine screaming half a meter behind your ears is just marvelous! It outmaneuveres Miatas all day long and because of the rev happy N/A 160 HP 1.8L, big 4-pot AP Racing brakes and low weight it'll give a GTI a run for its money on a twisty backroad. I could be banging against the limiter all day with the wind blowing my hair off :) I love that thing

I had a 92 MR2, 3SFE. It was my second car at 19 years old. Slow af. £1300, some nice brakes and tires. Great fun. Rust took it away from me though, as is common for these in the UK.

$12-$15K for a JDM MR2 on Autotrader ain't cheap, low mileage US spec around $7k

Ive been waiting so long for you guys to do the MR2, ive owned one for over a decade and love the thing. My kids love it too, even gave it its name "Beep". There is a wealth of information on the MR2oc and IMOC forums, like the importance of a staggered tyre setup, you can have matching wheels but stagger the tyre size as it was designed to have and benefits from having it. Also snap oversteer was only ever an issue with the SW20 REV1 release cars, the suspension geometry was race inspired and the combination of mid engine, precise suspension and motor journalists inexperienced with driving cars of that layout meant a fair amount of bad press for the early cars. it hasnt really shaken the stigma even though REV 2 have geometry changes that negated those issues and as you seem to have a REV3 or later car you shouldnt have those issue at all if alignment is set up to spec. Hope @Mighty Car Mods reads this and all the best for the challange, im on the edge of my seat!!
