Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, in which she spoke out about being the victim of domestic violence. Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp as her alleged abuser, but according to Depp’s lawsuit, it relied “on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.” Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.
The defamation trial began Monday in Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, with jury selection completing on the same day. There are many people around him who have said what an extraordinarily nice guy he is while a majority of people that come in contact with her say she's aggressive, vile and hard to even deal with. So let me get this straight. While having serious anxiety and issues with depression, he was trying to quit taking drugs, all the while having a seemingly unsupportive fiance, who as it turns out was also many times abusive. Sounds like a fun time.... Jesus. I really hope enough of the truth will come out that by the end of this trial Mr. Depp can walk away from all this and heal.
I know as a survivor of prior DV but also living with an alcoholic for almost 40 years, I was appalled by AH “support” of her partner. In many occasions we heard how she would jay out candles and wine for them. When my husband went through a program for his addiction, I also stopped drinking and any other substance use. THAT is what a loving partner does. Not what she did. My gosh I sure hope the jury sees how she manipulated JD and most likely did all this because he just couldn’t live with her any more. Seeing her 1st day of testimony, I see serious body language from her that she is not the victim she’s portraying herself to be.
He is just a victim of a very bad marriage (his other marriage, in itself, already shows how bad having the wrong partner can be). Amber was never even supportive when he was mourning. That’s just very bad. Always focused on telling everybody how he’s an addict and has issues, but never really helping him through his depression or anxiety; rather she increased it or even instigated it. Really disgusting!
Anyway, I believe the main goal is to let everyone know the absolute truth. I don’t really care if he loses the case. He really needs to heal and get a better partner and get back his life and career back🥺
What I mean by his other marriage is that Johnny was never any of this kind of person before his life with Amber. This is not his first marriage and nobody heard of anything; rather everyone testifies to how nice and loving and supportive and very cool headed he is. Now this??

The fact that that doctor thought is was ok to have Amber or any family member be in charge of administering detox medications is unbelievably unprofessional and unethical. Never ever should she have been in charge of his healthcare. No matter what the patient wanted- this is a perfect example of a doctor that caters to the rich, Johnny was the patient and should have been cared for much much better. All her attorneys want to do is talk about cocaine, no one here has any understanding of the disease process. Benzodiazepines are often used for detox, but by a doctor and appropriate healthcare facility- even if in a outpatient basis. This is killing me listening to the line of questions by these idiots.
I understand being mad bc the line of question seem repetitive... But they have to ask everything as if they don't know because not everyone in the jury might have some basic knowledge of how a detox program is managed.

I work with victims of violence and she is definitely not acting like one. Him on the other hand, it’s easy to see that he has been through a lot and has many problems, but I don’t believe he abuses women. My opinion is that they were in a very toxic, abusive relationship and she got mad when he was pushing the post-nupcial agreement. So she is trying to make him pay. I feel very sorry for his children, having to see all that. 😢

As someone who has been on pain medication or opioids I can confirm that all the medication did to me was make me hungry and anxious, sometimes even drowsy but NEVER ONCE violent. Amber is just adding and adding to the story that now her side just seems all over the place…even more than before.

Benzodiazepines can make you extremely angry/violent when mixed with alcohol, it’s well documented. Also, certain opiates can make a person grumpy and agitated, I have a back condition and experience this whenever I have to take them.
We would have heard about it by now if those meds would do that. Imagine people who had surgery getting those meds getting violent - in what world?
It is very hard to quit opiates. And they do not make you violent they actually make you very passive. I feel for JD trying to quit while dealing with AH. He was probably using more to escape the situation he was in.

Seeing heard smiling while sitting in the same room as her accused abuser, and having experience myself of ACTUALLY sitting in a court room with my abuser, there was not a chance of a smile appearing on my face. i just felt sick and anxious and ready to be gone out of that room

@@heatherbop2946 I think certain things are allowed or even forced to go on public record in the court of law, but the paperwork mostly has to be approved beforehand and it HAS to pertain to the case. If it doesn’t directly pertain to the case, the other side can raise an objection and it’s the judge’s call as to whether she/he allows it to be discussed or not. She also has to approve physical evidence it to be published to the jury / allowed for the jury to see.

I am a licensed advanced Alcohol Counselor and some Doctors do that, but only if there is one drug the Patient is detoxing from. However, he was detoxing from 3 drugs and needed three different detox to be used for detox. The Doctor should have referred him to detox treatment where he would have been monitored for seizures or overdose on the detox medications. Very few people can do a home detox without complications.. Also, if the Doctor had any idea of the relationship between Johnny and Amber and was still allowing her to give him medication, the doctor pretty much put a gun in her hand!! To let a Patient continue to take opiates because he was making a movie is crazy! I know most high-profile people still get to work, during their treatment, but I believe this is unwarranted. No wonder they have a difficult time getting sober. Without sobriety first, nothing else matters!

True, in Germany we advise people who got addicted to Benzos (which happens very quickly) to go as an inpatient with medical supervision because of the risk of severe withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms under Benzos are considered an emergency. Which means, if you see this at home or in your private practice as a psychotherapist, you have to call an ambulance!

I didn’t follow the trial until day 6 or 7. Very interesting to watch back the beginning of the trial. The vibe and the dynamics in the court room was completely different than a month later. AH’s attorney, the one who objected himself later, was so nervous. Camille looked like a little girl sitting next to JD, wouldn’t have known that she’s so intelligent, strong, and powerful.
I am praying for justice and that Johnny Depp wins this case.

It's such a sad state of affairs that a man who is obviously such a shy person when it comes to his medical and family very private and personal history, including his difficult childhood, that considering when he reached out for medical and psychological assistance that he believed at the time to be extremely private family information that I'm sure that no-one would ever expect them to be opened and shared with the whole world to the stage where it even impinged on his career that he'd worked so hard to build up for himself to provide a good high standard of lifestyle for himself and his family, along with his sharing the benefit of his hard with his close friends, Including supporting people who he came across just in the course of his day to day life, who he thought that he could assist to raise their standards of living by providing them with jobs, some jobs that he 'created' in order for them to retain their dignity in such ways as providing them with what work that they could paint, with large art pieces for a showing that they could eventually hold a show to exhibit their artwork in order to sell the pieces. Of course it was in his kind and generous heart that if they weren't able to have the art showings by the dates that the artists had decided upon being able to produce the artworks by the time of the agreed showings. This was in JD's nature to assist as many people as he could as he was climbing the ladder of success that he'd worked hard to achieve. He did all this in a behind the scenes manner which is why it's now so sad that all of his personal and private history of which he'd been an unintentional victim during his whole childhood. Just the fact that he continued to care for his parents even as soon as he began working at various jobs that he'd taken in order to support himself as well as his family, even when he left his family's home even at the age of 15. I can relate to some of which he experienced in my own life, although I certainly didn't need to also support my family as well. As he's such an obviously very shy person, which can often be a personality trait of successful actors who had grown up in troubled homes as they find their lives a lot easier as they are able to hide away from all that. It must have been so humiliating for him when he'd being dragged through the courts just because he was doing his best to remain out of the public life that can come with fame. I truly feel so sad for him as he was doing all he could to assist others who were living in difficult circumstances.

My heart breaks for Johnny 😔 You can see how broken he is and how his relationship with Amber was bad. This evidence shows that he did get help to deal with his addiction along with other things. When you have depression, anxiety and living with a narcissist it can take a toll on your mental health. I pray that Johnny is able to heal after all this is over. He deserves to be happy.

This poor guy was definitely self medicating. When you have an abusive partner it’s easier to just go live on a cloud sometimes. I am still trying to remain impartial, but the list of drugs just made me have so much empathy. Amber obviously has some sort of disorder which is so hard to be around. I hope they both heal from this and get the proper help. Hopefully the right choice will be decided.

Me myself if you're in a toxic relationship with a narcissist and you're recovering drug addict you will probably take everything to make you feel good and then Johnny realize that he left his wife and children's for this woman only to find out he married to a narcissist like to hit people's and be abusive I think Johnny's lawyer should have found one of her ex-boyfriends cuz I bet you she acted the same way with them
