So fun fact about this movie, it almost didn't exist at all. During the production, someone made a mistake and accidentally deleted the *entire movie*, everything they had worked on up to that point. It would have totally killed the movie...had one of the animators not made a copy of everything to take home to work on. Thanks to this copy they were able to restore everything and let the team resume work where they left off.
They been working long hours on this film one production crew was so overtired he forgot to drop his baby off at daycare before the shoot and accidentally left him in the car at the parking lot for the entire day almost dehydrated if not for some nearby workers reving him
I love the theory that Emily (Jessie's previous owner) is actually Andy's mom. They would be close in age, and the red hat Andy wears in the first movie looks a lot like an old Jessie hat, which Emily owned.
I saw a video on the SuperCarlinBrothers RUclips channel, where they interviewed one of the former creators of Toy Story and who told them that the ENTIRE backstory of Andy’s Father!!! Confirming that: 1. The pictures of the boy in the first film on the wall are Andy’s Father 2. Andy’s Father loved Woody’s Roundup and after the company went out of business Andy’s Dad got the one AND ONLY Sheriff Woody doll MEANING that Woody is not only rare, HE’S ONE IN A MILLION the only Sheriff Woody in existence 3. Before Andy’s Father passed away, he gave his son Andy: Woody, Slinky and Mr Potato Head 4. The “Andy” we see underneath Woody’s boot is Andy’s Father’s Handwriting!!!!!
Toy Story 2 is my favorite of the franchise. The introduction of Jessie and Bullseye adds to an eclectic group of characters. Toy Story 3 is a close second, but I appreciate the heart of this one.
I was a little disappointed that Buzz #2 didn't choose to stick around and join Andy's collection of toys! It was entertaining having one Buzz whose completely aware he's a toy while the other is still delusional, plus having Tim Allen's bantering himself was hilarious! 😂😂
I wonder if Buzz #2 will appear in Toy Story 5 considering he and Zerg became lost toys in the streets and Woody and Bo are also lost toys, and will give you an excuse to have Buzz Lightyear around, but not the same one.
As a kid I saw the first two Toy Story movies before watching the OT, so the references flew over my head, including “I am your father” which blew my mind. So in a weird way, this movie both allowed me to experience the shock of that twist, but also robbed me of experincing it with Empire. But I did see other parodies and homages to it before I saw Empire anyway, so I guess I as always doomed to be spoiled on it 😂

10/10 Animation Are So Different Than The First 'Toy Story' Here's yet one more sequel that more than lived up to its original great start. The first Toy Story was outstanding. This is just as good, if not better. Very fast-paced and very entertaining, this doesn't have a lot of laugh-out-loud parts but is definitely fun to watch with many good lines. What I appreciated was the lack of a nasty villain and any evil overtones, as was the case with the rotten neighborhood kid in the first film. I also appreciated the fantastic surround sound on the DVD, along with the magnificent colors. Not to be forgotten is a wonderful, tear-jerking song in here, sung by Sarah MacLaclan. It gets to me every time. When you factor in all the nice characters, music, colors and sounds, this has to be one of the most beloved animated films of the modern era.
An awesome theory is that Jessy's previous owner is Andy's mother. When you see the flashbacks, Emily has that red hat with the white ribbon. When you look at Andy's hat, he has a red hat that has a fade where a ribbon used to seem to be. It's an amazing theory that fits so well.
I love how Jen makes fun of Holden for his Spider-Man collection and then right after asks if he wants a Plate collectable to add to it 😂 that’s a good relationship right there imo
The most popular fan theory is actually not that Jessie's owner was boo.....but Andy's mom. You notice that Andy does not have woody's hat, he has Jessies.....which he got from his mom
I love the bloopers at the end, making it seem like this was actually filmed instead of animated. When I first saw this as a kid, 4 or 5, I thought that they had actually filmed it lol!
How have we not seen school of rock, the level of cuteness in giving the kid’s confidence would make Jen explode, like see all the toys as one big happy “Family”
Man the memories & nostalgia with this movie. I had this on VHS that I watched all the time at my late grandparents’ house. I think this movie has the best opening out of all of them. Absolutely love the “Woody fixing” scene.
Toy Story movies will always hold a special place in my heart. I grew up with them and they continue to capture great stories and new creators each movie. I hope you continue watching 3 and 4 and I really hope you guys keep watching other Pixar movies as well like coco!
I always heard Jessie originally belonged to Andy's Mom. In the first Movie, Andy wears a cowboy hat just like Jessie's, So people think Andy's Mom gave it to him years later
Absolutely love this series. This movie may be the best. It's right up there with 3 as my favorite. Can't wait to see ya'll react to that one! I just love the bloopers in this one too! Wish Pixar would've kept doing this because they're hilarious!
Stinky Pete being the extra villain in this one does make sense. He was the least popular character of the Woody's Roundup franchise. He was still in his box because Al found him on the shelf of a discount store. Being sold to a Japanese toy museum would actually be the highlight of his life where for once he would be admired as a collectible. Great reaction! These movies have always been some of my favorites that Pixar has done.
There's actually a teory that jessie's owner was andy's mom because he have jessie's hat and i love that teory because it would be so much of a detale 😊

But after watching your relationship blossom over the years, it’s given me hope that one day I’ll find the right person myself. Kudos to your amazing relationship and marriage!
I'm a huge Pixar fan and am about to be 31, so around your all's age. I grew up loving the Toy Story films, so it sometimes comes as a surprise to people when I say Toy Story 3 is the best of the series. I was about to go to college when that movie came out, so it hit hard.
The animation in Toy Story 4 was great, but that one and the Lightyear movie are definitely at the bottom. And TS2 was supposed to be direct-to-video, and then Pixar had to fully redevelop the plot of the movie in a time crunch. It's surprising how good this one turned out.
There is also a theory that Emily is Andys mom, thata why andy has the Jesse hat in the first movie, because it was her hat that she kept when she left Jesse in the box.
The scene of Al complaining about driving to work on a Saturday, only for it to be right across the street is comedic gold. 😂 That scene lives rent free in my head
The Cleaner who fixes Woody, is Geri from the short Geri's Game, which was shown in front of A Bug's Life in theatres. Another reference are the chess pieces in one of the drawers. Originally, Al himself was going to fix Woody but then John Lasseter thought "No, he's the kind of guy that would call someone to do it.". Since this was done quite late in production, they didn't have time to make a new character, so they used Geri and made him cameo reference.
The length of Pixar films were limited by the size of the file they could render. Toy Story was as long as possible. That remained true until Ratatouille, after that the render farm was big enough they could choose the length of the film. A minute of Wall*E was as big as Toy Story in terms of render time.
Every time I watch these movies I joke and think about how lucky the toys were that there weren’t any Lego/Bionicles for Andy to play with, I know because that was literally me. My older brother liked Woody and GI Joes and my older sister liked Jesse and anything with Dragons, I was in the middle but gravitated more toward gijoe. Then one Christmas day I opened the biggest present of my life from my parents with “Turahk” the red Bionicle Rahkshi and that was the beginning of an obsession, the only thing I wanted to play with/buy was bionicle from 2003 till the sad day they were discontinued. I currently have in a closet a plastic box big enough for a full grown human to squeeze into that weighs around 300lb FULL of almost every bionicle set ever made from Bohrok till the last few generations they released along with a ton of lego sets.
by rewatching this i just noticed the 2001: A Space Odyssey reference in the first chapter with Buzz going across the floating platforms. What a great film this was
One of my favorite Toy Story theories is that Emily (Jessie's owner) is Andy's mom. If you noticed, Andy has the same hat as Emily's. Why would Andy willingly get a red hat instead of a brown one to match Woody's hat. I just love that because it's almost like she came home.
Originally, Bullseye was going to talk and be voiced by Steve Martin but then John Lasster and Co decided that he sould be like a big puppy dog, so he became voiceless (save for vocal effects, most likely being provided by Frank Welker).
Oh wow... this movie holds a very special place in my heart. When i was three, i saw this movie in daycare, and it's what made me want to be a filmmaker. My dream was to go and work for Pixar. As i've grown older, that dream has changed with the movies i've watched and made over the years, but my love for this movie, and Toy Story in general, will only get stronger. I get such a wave of nostalgia from this movie it's ridiculous, and actually permeated over into Lightyear. I hope Jen enjoys this one, and i hope you give Lightyear a watch too maybe!
If you didn't know Emily who was Jessie's kid Is actually thought too be Andy's mom as in the First Movie Andy had the same hat emily had when she was a kid. Thought too be passed down
Love the Toy Story Franchise. Absolutely one of my all time favorites up there with The Incredibles and Lilo and Stitch. I would give Toy Story 2 a 9 out of 10 can’t wait to see your reactions to Toy Story 3!!! Everyone in the comments talking about the theory of Emily (Jessie’s former owner) being Andy’s Mom, when I found that out, I was like OH MY GOODNESS. In the scene where Woody’s arm tears for the first time, you can see a close up of Andy’s hat and if you look closely, you can see that the brim is missing 100% confirming that Emily IS Andy’s Mom!!! Mind blown!!!!
9:06 Oooh, I finally understand that line! I'm German, you see, and even I've learned English from a very young age due to having family living in the US, when I first saw the first two Toy Story films, I couldn't understand most of it when I watched them in English and only over many years I've mastered it. Now I'm watching these films in English finally understanding everything, especially puns and proverbs and such.
Toy Story 2 had the shortest production time of just 18 months. Usually, an animated movie takes 3-4 (in some cases, such Elemental, takes 5) as you need to make several rewrites and redrawing storyboards as animation takes a long time to do even if you have a team of 100 animators, therefore not easy to make reshoots or pickups unlike live action. That means the whole film needs to be "complete" before you animate it. Originally, TS2 was gonna be releaded directly on VHS like Return of Jafar and Lion King II: Simba's Pride (as the mid-90's to mid-00's was the era for direct to home media sequels, whose usually were subpar compared to their theatrical films) but then Disney decided to release it in the cinemas instead. John Lasseter and co had just finished A Bug's Life and they saw the story reels that a smaller team of Pixar did and deemed them not so good. Disney argued that it was good enough and wouldn't push the release date, so Pixar made the story changes and rushed to get the movie done in time without sacrificing the quality. The movie was almost ruined when someone accident put in the code bin/rm -r -f * that erased ALL of the data on Pixar's computers, meaning the whole film was gone. They had a backup but it didn't work. Fortunately, technical director Galyn Susman had given birth and worked from home to take care of newborn baby, and she had a copy of the movie on her computer. They drove it to the studio, wrapped in blankets in order to prevent it from being broken. They copied the movie files and the movie was saved from being canceled and potentially bankrupt Pixar.
Holden saying that Emily was Boo is a theory but the more accepted one is that she's Andy's mom. The fact behind it was the cowboy hat Andy wore it's the same one as Emily's just without the white stripe that theory is the more accepted one
The Woody's Round-Up franchise is based and inspired by The Davy Crocket franchise which was really popular in the 50's. The character spoons were inspired by the Hanna-Barbera character spoon from Kelloggs cereals. Director John Lasseter had Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound spoons as a kid.
I think this is the British version isn't it? I believe the US version has the stars and stripes behind Buzz (at 11.11) not the globe. Also, I think this had British TV presenter Andi Peters doing the voice of the airport luggage handler, though I'm not sure if that was different in the US version.
Probably my favorite Toy Story movie of the 4, It's a top 5 Pixar film and had a big impact on me growing up from the main lesson of the movie, so many memorable moments.
Our son is a year and a half and he absolutely loves Toy Story so we’ve watched this movie about 7 times the past week 😅😅 Great movie and it’s one of my favorite animated movies!
Glad to see that you noticed one of two big easter eggs in this movie. You did notice the one from Star Wars, the other was Jurassic Park with Rex chasing the car and seeing Rex in the Mirror.
Woody wasn't just Limited Edition, he was one of a kind. Woody is the only Sheriff Woody Doll to ever be made. Andy's dad won him from a sweepstakes, and when he died he passed Woody to Andy, along with his Mr. Potato Head and Slinky Dog.
Toy story 2 is a classic, as well as the first one. I don’t know if y’all realize it was a spinoff of “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” show and movie with Tim Allen.
12:54 Buzz single-handedly figures out the license plate number to mean Al's Toy Barn. And that Woody was taken by the Chicken Man. And figures out how to find the map to get there. Buzz had the idea to safely cross the street via cones. (Cars stop, swerve, and avoid traffic cones) and now he's the one to figure out how to open the door. That sounds like someone who doesn't know what a conscience. Definitely sounds like a dumb character...... 13:32 Deluded isn't the same as being dumb or stupid. Also 19:25 Buzz directs everyone and figures out how to drive a car!
Not too sure why but the scenes of woody getting repaired by the toy collector were always my favorites, something about the fun montage of the toolbox or something - ahhh simpler times EDIT: omg, my childhood, it hurts ... haven't watched it in over a decade
There was another fan theory that states that Andy’s mom is the original owner of Jessie AKA Emily. In the flashback, it shows that she has the same hat that Andy wears in the first film.

In the scene where Woody’s arm tears for the first time, you can see a close up of Andy’s hat and if you look closely, you can see that the brim is missing 100% confirming that Emily IS Andy’s Mom!!! Mind blown!!!!
When Woody gets cleaned is an ASMR hall of famer
I would love to see a reaction to small soldiers after these! Such a nostalgic movie and a good take on the idea of toys being alive set in real life.
Wallace Shawn as Rex is great, this whole cast is amazing, Don Rickles as potato Head and Frasier Kelsey Grahamer as Stinky pete
lol when jen was doing her review of the movie your dog just keeps looking at her like as if he wanted her to be quiet lol
My jaw *dropped* when I thiught Buzz died. As a kid who wasn't use to heroes dying, that was wild.
The more popular theory about Jessie's previous owner is that she was Andy's mom. At least, that's the one I've always subscribed to.
There’s a fan theory that Jessie is actually Andy’s mother. Never heard the Boo one.
And Al Mcwiggin is Andy's dad
I've Always loved the 2nd one more than the first. The story is better with more heart and laughs.
One other theory about Jessie's owner was that the girl that dumped her was Andy's Mom.
very well could be
Holden saying that Emily was Boo is a theory but the more accepted one is that she's Andy's mom.
What I love about the animation is the characters have more soul in their eyes than Boston does 😊😂😂😂😂
Toy Story 3 may be the most emotional of the whole franchise and how they revisit the aliens & Mr potato head father-children storyline was next lvl.
I like the theory that Emily is Andy’s mum as he was Jessie hat and not woodys , so it could of been given to him by the mum 🤷🏼♀️
“Bark, bark, bark, bark!” 🤣
I think this is the British version isn't it? I believe the US version has the stars and stripes behind Buzz (at 11.11) not the globe. Also, I think this had British TV presenter Andi Peters doing the voice of the airport luggage handler, though I'm not sure if that was different in the US version.
Probably my favorite Toy Story movie of the 4, It's a top 5 Pixar film and had a big impact on me growing up from the main lesson of the movie, so many memorable moments.
11:11 didn’t the American flag used to be behind Buzz at this part? Did they change it? And when Al wakes up I thought he said “no officer I swear!”
Would be funny if it was removed because somehow it’d be considered offensive nowadays.
I remember that from the DVD idk it was removed.
It was nice having three reactors this time!
Our son is a year and a half and he absolutely loves Toy Story so we’ve watched this movie about 7 times the past week 😅😅 Great movie and it’s one of my favorite animated movies!
That man needs a spiderman plate!
The dog watching it too was so awesome lol
Glad to see that you noticed one of two big easter eggs in this movie. You did notice the one from Star Wars, the other was Jurassic Park with Rex chasing the car and seeing Rex in the Mirror.
Jessie’s backstory gotta be one of the saddest montages in Pixar.
The music in this one is absolutely great, they cover a lot of genres
toy story 2 is a masterpiece and a great sequel of the toy story fhanchise.
When Mr. Potato Head said "Get ready to meet Mr. Angry Eyes" I neatly peed myself the first time I heard him say that.
hahahahaha
22:18 We were so young and innocent to understand it.
This was originally meant to be a direct-to-DVD release.
I don't doubt it
Not too sure why but the scenes of woody getting repaired by the toy collector were always my favorites, something about the fun montage of the toolbox or something - ahhh simpler times
EDIT: omg, my childhood, it hurts ... haven't watched it in over a decade
There was another fan theory that states that Andy’s mom is the original owner of Jessie AKA Emily. In the flashback, it shows that she has the same hat that Andy wears in the first film.
