      Hey! Thank you! Very nice, the Avata 2 is so easy to live with I find myself pulling it out much more often than any other of my FPV drones. Haha yeah analogue is always good fun. Digital is just out of this world

      This is something I hadn't thought about to be honest. I don't tend to struggle to see the screen too much though so for me it's not too much of a concern. But it appears a few people are seeing this as a benefit as they find the screen hard ot see sometimes. It does add another peice to the kit and will make it a bit more bulky to carry around though, you're right there! 😃

  • @manfrombkk
    @manfrombkk 12 дней назад +2

    Have the complete setup, plus an Air3. I also find the limited functionality of the modes disappointing, but when the ambient light makes the RC2 controller screen near useless, it’s great to be able to fly like being a miniaturized pilot up in the cockpit looking out the window flying IFR

      out of curiosity...have you tried the no-glare screen protector yet that they sell for some cell phones? I was contemplating on finding one to see if it helps with the glare on the RC2 screen. It's similar to a standard screen protecting glass, except is has a matte finish instead of glassy.

    • @JustinBainbridgeYT
      @JustinBainbridgeYT  10 дней назад

      Yeah there are a lot less fetures available when using the goggles. I also hadn't thought about the glare on the screen, mainly because I don't tend to struggle seeing the screen but it seems that quite a few people do so this could be a solution. 😃

      Yeah I think it's do to the cross compatibility with O3 and O4, in some instances you cant mix certain controller/goggle/drone combinations. I'm sure it's technically possible with software but I don't think Dji feel it's worth the work I suppose.

    Great video thank you! I was just gonna ask you yesterday if you have tried the googles 3 with mini 4 pro yet, then you dropped this video haha! Awesome timing! So once you have set up goggles with mini 4 pro and you want to use them with Avata 2, does it just connect seamlessly same as when you turn off the motion 3 and turn on RC3, it just detects it and connects with no hassle, you don't have to go through all the procedure again do you please? Bit confused about the binding part.

    • @JustinBainbridgeYT
      @JustinBainbridgeYT  12 дней назад +1

      @ukmonk haha im reading minds again 😅 Yep you're absolutely right there, once it's bound it's bound, just power on and it should auto connect if the goggles are in Mini 4 Pro mode

So you cant use one pair of goggles for 2 drones I dont think! I will look into this but think this is what it means!

    Hey Justin I have flown the DJI Avata (1) in manual mode for a while, but I haven’t flown over water yet. I’m scared to do it, but not because of my lack in skill but the yaw tumble (the yaw tumble with the Avata 1 flips it completely and you lose all control). It has happened to me a lot even when doing slow and smooth turns. I know what causes it and I know how to avoid it but it just seems as the Avata 1 still yaw tumbles a lot. How can I get the confidence to fly over water and do you have any extra tip about avoiding the yaw tumble? I have watched both your video about the yaw tumble and flying over water, yet I’m scared it will happen while just doing a normal turn..

    • @JustinBainbridgeYT
      @JustinBainbridgeYT  День назад

      Hey!
      I do understand your hesitation to fly over water especially experiencing the Yaw tumble. I still experience the tumble from time to time but I know when its likely to come so I'm prepared to recover. With flying over water you need to be fully confident flying the drone. Smooth sweeping turns should avoid the tumble as long as you're not putting in too much yaw control and flying through the prop wash. But the main point is not to do anything you are not comfortable with. Whilst pushing your flying ability is always good, it's not worth losing a drone for over water. I'd reccomend you get really familiar with the drone and when it's likely to tumble and when you're comeoftable with it and can predict it before it happens then you should be good. But with water its just a case of being high enough for you're own risk level. If you're not comfortable, start out high with lots of room to recover. Then as you get more comfotable you can reduce the height.

    Thanks Justin this was a question I've been asking myself and i think I'll save up for the Avata 2 ...I really wanted to get an fpv done but I get motion sick using my son's Playstation VR so I took the safe route and got the mini 4 pro (super happy with it) as I knew I'd have 0 issues with it. Do you think someone like me would be able to do FPV?

    • @JustinBainbridgeYT
      @JustinBainbridgeYT  10 дней назад +1

      You should be okay with FPV. VR tends to make you feel much more motion sickness than FPV from my experience. As long as you just keep still and don't try to move your head around with FPV goggles on you should be fine. After few uses the motion sickness tends to subside anyway for most 😃

    The video out from goggles to a phone with the fly app, is handy if want to let someone look through the goggles while you fly.
    I like to use the goggles to see where I’m going, rather than a screen with glare.
    I’m not too bothered about FPV, I always fly to record the surroundings, and enjoy a bit of head tracking.

      @jameskelly9579 Yeah I often use the video out too to show people on the phone. Yeah that's fair enough, I don't have too much problem with the screen but it seems a lot of people are struggling with the glare. Maybe my screen protector is helping with that. Yep, this is possible using Audience mode on the Goggles 3. You need to have the same goggles. I.e you can't spectate using G2 whilst flying on G3, this might come later with the O3 update, but only time will tell. But yep, long story short, no problem!

  • @soundbeast4957

    Gimmicky? I’d say that all depends on what you are using it for. If you are getting it for taking photos and have vision issues In reflective lighting situations, it could be a great tool. Sir you’re into FPV so it may seem gimmicky. I got the Mini 4 pro & goggles for photography, not FPV, because, the FPV does not have as good a camera, which matters a lot. I think it is very much important to know THAT difference, especially for the variations of what a person is utilizing the drone/goggles for. The avata’s camera isn’t as good, and it lacks a few features that the mini 4 pro has.

      This is very true and something I hadn't considered at the time. Personally I don't have much trouble seeing the screen but I also don't tend to fly a lot in the mid day sun. However it appears that quite a few people do have trouble seeing it sometimes and in that case this could definitely be a massive improvement for seeing what you're doing with the Mini 4 Pro. I was approaching it at the angle of someone wantin g to use the mini for fpv purposes but it's interesting to look at this angle too. Thanks for the insight and your comment 😃

A racecar is fast, and is made to be fast, no fancy stuff. A sedan is great for a chill ride, made for comfort, lots of upgrades to make it better from the previous model. I would compare the high end cines like limousines. Theirs ag drones whit are the crop dusters, the enterprise mapping drones are the utility trucks, because they do surveying and mapping. ❤️ each unique in its own way. I have a mini 4 pro and Avata 2, so It's nice to be able to get some compatibility between everything. But your settings are completely gutted compared to the standard RC menu. Using an unbound device may also disqualify you from redeeming a DJI care refresh.
    Couple that with the fact that G3's still don't work with air units, and there is absolutely zero reason to go out and buy a pair. Beyond use with an Avata 2 they are basically a toy right now.

    • @JustinBainbridgeYT
      @JustinBainbridgeYT  10 дней назад

      Yeah there's a lot missin in the menu, It should still be okay for care refresh as the drone is linked via SN and shouldn'e be affected if you're using the goggles. But I may be wrong there. I'm also looking forward to O3 compatibility so I can just carry around 1 pair of goggles. I have to carry so much stuff at the moment to keep everything flying so I'm looking forward to lightening the load.

    Do me a favour and do a video on making videos and adding music and stuff.
    I've just re-entered the world of video making following many years away and also using a drone.....bought a Samsung Galaxy Book 4.....but having a nightmare finding decent video editing software and how and where to get decent music and sounds from.
    I was going to use Capcut but this doesn't seem to want to work on the Galaxy Book 4....it opens and then immediately closes itself.
    Really could do with advice about where to get the best music from.....I was going to use Artlist but they want £256 up front which is steep when your just starting out.

      @JustinBainbridgeYT  6 дней назад

      Hey! I have been asked this a lot and am trying to find the best way to tackle the video because people are using lots of different devices. I always reccomend a good Laptop or computer for editing as it makes the process much easier. I'm not familair with the galaxy book 4 but you could try Adobe Rush. It's a free video editor for Android. I use Artlist for my music and SFX and just have a montly plan at £13 per month. You can choose a monthly plan so you aren't tied in for a year if you don't want to be. Finding good copyright free music away from service like artlist and epedimic sound etc is very difficult and the music is normally not that great.
