Hey! I'm so glad you managed to find the drone, good work! You're more than welcome, this is the exact reason I make these videos. To give people the knowledge they need to have a smoother more enjoyable experience. Shame about the crash but hopefully a new prop gets you back in the air! 😃
Good tips Justin. 👍 I also put the motion controller tucked in with the fpv 3 radio in the exact same pouch, the exact same orientation. I haven't used the fpv radio yet as I only had my first ever drone flight yesterday. So much fun. Today on my 2nd flight I crashed going up a kids playground slide which had a little plastic roof at the top. I hit the steel bars as I was almost through and it ditched to the ground and disengaged the motors. There was only a slight scuff on the ND filter which wiped off.
You're welcome mate! Yeah, it just fits so well. I hadn't seen anyone recommend that way, so I thought I'd share it. That's awesome glad you've started flying, yeah having small bumps are just part of FPV. You’ll crash less and less as time goes on. But if you start to push yourself againits bound to happen. I was pushing myself the other day, ripping around and I slapped one of the giant leaves on a Palm tree the thing fell around 20 metres to the grass and was fine, so that's the crash test done 😅
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Palm leaves and grass sound like a good place to crash. 🙂 I've got a constant goggles need calibrating error message before take off even out in the open so I think I'll have to factory reset them. I tried to follow the instructions on the goggles screen to re calibrate them by tilting head up 60 degrees, centre, and then down 90 degrees but it failed every time.

1:37 For all people suffering EHS ... it would be cool to have an option to extend the microwave transmitter antennas with a cable (lets say 2 to 3 meters extended cable) and put the antenna on a pole or something, this way you have FAR better connection AND you are less radiated with RF/EMFs
Great info, re charger I also found not all cables will carry 45w, so bought a USB-C power meter to check which cable to use, also I had problems with 32Gb microSD cards various makes wouldn't work in goggles3 or Avata2 I bought the recommended 64Gb Integral Pro cards which are fine.
About battery chargers, make sure your charger can do higher voltages than 5V on the USB C output otherwise your new 65Watt charger isn't going to speedup anything. There needs to be more voltage present to push that extra current into your battery. The DJI mobile charger is a good one to get.
Hey man! Awesome, I'm glad you got something out of the video. Ah nice! Let me know if you're heading up into the Ubud area and we can go fly sometime 🤙
Very nice video and interesting stuff you’re mentoning ! Thanks for that mate :) It’s cool you share the knowledge , I’ll be super happy to test some of it on my Avata 2 :)
Thanks mate! Yep it should all be useful stuff! By sharing my knowledge we can all have a better experience, it's more than worth it! I hope you're enjoying the Avata 2! 😃
Hi Justin, I really appreciate your helpful and honest videos. Could you please tell do a video comparing the pros and cons of the moth ion controller and the FPV remote controller 3?, and whether the remote controller 3 is a must by? I don’t think anybody has done that yet on RUclips. Cheers.
Hey! Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate it! It's not something that I have planned to cover. Potentially, it's something I could make a video about, they both offer different benefits and drawbacks and I think the motion controller is very good for getting started and also for some slow precise flying and real estate shoots. But for true dpv style flying I think the FPV 3 controller is the way to go but it comes with a much steeper learning curve for manual mode flying. Maybe I'll make something about this actually 😃
Great video, thank you for the tips. I just got my avata 2 this past Wednesday. Are you planning on making a detailed video about shooting in dlog with the avata 2? I have premiere pro but cannot get my videos to look anywhere near as nice as yours. I am also having issues getting nice quality when shooting for vertical phones/social media. I seem to lose quality when shooting in 4:3. I'll continue to watch, thank you for all the pointers!
Hey! Thanks for the kind words! I'll add it to my list of videos to make. I find D-Log M very nice to work with. I will have a video on how to make the Avata 2 more cinematic, which will cover a lot of what you'll want to know. I also don't tend to use the DJI conversion lut, I find it too contrasty and too shadow heavy. Maybe I should make my first step colour correction into a LUT...
@@JustinBainbridgeYT Thank you Justin for your quick reply. I am subscribed and will continue to watch your videos for tips and tricks. I am looking forward to how to make avata 2 more cinematic. Thank you
Hey Justin, did you ever have the battery get low and the drone start to go up to RTH height? Let's say if you're in between trees, it will just ascend into a tree. I don't see many people talk about this; it can catch you out if you're not quick on the pause button.
Yeah this is something you just have to be aware of for your situation. You generally get a 15 second countdown which sshould give you enough time to get to a clear space if you're in the trees. Or cancel and fly back manually. There's no way to change this behaviour so you just need to keep an eye on your battery level and when you get below 30% just be aware that low battery RTH is coming up soon. 😃
Another great one! :) I just noticed that sometimes the gimbal moves down and up automatically and sometimes it doesn’t stop at all. If I sometimes only turn the controller wheel slightly, it sometimes doesn't stop. - Is that normal?
Hey! Thank you! This does not sound normal at all. the gimbal shouldn't be moving itself apart from to keep the horizon stable. I would do a gimbal calibration and see if it fixes this. If not I'd be getting in touch with DJI service to get a replacement drone.
Thank you so much for the great tips! I see an arrow on the lower middle of the screen of the goggles, it appears to show the direction of the drone, why i you don't have it?
Hey, yeah, I've heard about this. It seems strange that a few people are experiencing this, and DJI doesn't seem to have an answer for what it is. Unfortunately, I can't help you on that one. Maybe it'll disappear in a future firmware update

Hey there! It's really simple on the Avata 2. You just need to power the drone on, just the drone. Open the fly app on your phone or tablet and then quick transfer should show up with the Avata 2. Click connect and then you can download from the album there 😃
Justin, when I get close to home to fly back inside I need to fly through a tight gap and over a cable. I am flying with the controller 3 and when I hover above my house I usually flip it from sport or manual in to normal mode. However there is a problem. In normal mode when flying slowly over a cable it will detect ground and auto fly up, and it stops responding to your inputs!!!! I have had this happen multiple times now, is there a way to switch off ground detection?
how do I reverse the control descend and ascend on the rc of my avatar 2? after 30 years I couldn't get used to it without reversing this control. you have to be able to really personalize these controls !!
Yeah, it improves airflow a lot, you can't feel much of a cooling effect, but it's just hot as hell where I am, so the difference between hot and not quite as hot isn't so big 😅
I bought my 10 days ago and haven't opened it even due ro bad weather. However you've some really helpful tips in here. Will definateky make the flying experience better.
Hey! Ah, shame about the weather, hopefully iy clears up soon, and you get out to fly! You're more than welcome! Let me know how your first flights go!
And the most important tip, don't get used to the headtracking and motion controller because the controller 3 is 10x more accurately and as soon as you are use to flying with stick you are never ever going to want to switch back. But if you got used to the headtracking it's gonna take a while to adjust and get ready to move your head around like and idiot. That's what happened to me.
Getting losing google signal around 350m ? I start to lose signal around 850m with my avata 1 almost the same area like in the video. I am considering to buy an avata 2 but as I watch videos like this if the signal is weaker than what I have now, I started to think about how will it be if I want to fly indoors or somewhere surrounded by buildings. It has some better features than avata 1 but how useful with a shorter signal range.
The signal is pretty poor in CE mode. Luckily, the Ham file works wonders, and the range with the FCC mode enables is insanely good! This was all filmed on the original CE mode signal output. I have since added the ham file and the signal performance is night and day. It's miles better now.
I have an issue with mine. If i fly then i get 30m distance limit. To avoid that i need to plug my mobile phone thru usb cable to my goggles and open the dji fly app. Then i can unplug the phone. If i come back and replace the battery then i need to again connect to dji fly app otherwise i can only fly 30m. Anything i can do?
