I just bought this drone last week, and it was my first drone I ever bought. I really can't recommend it enough. It has a really intuitive control system, has an immersive flying experience, is very easy for a beginner to use and most importantly is just pure fun!
For those that are interested, this FPV drone costs $1000 for the bundle which includes both the controller and the headset. And costs $500 for only the controller. For extra info, the max flight time is about 23 minutes. It can fly up to 27m/s and its range is 13km. This drone also supports Android and iOS.

I've flown for about 12 years...custom made drones (primitive, old school) and many DJI drones. When it comes to amazing quality and price point, DJI is untouched across it's line of drones. They are the overall kings for the time being. You may not like all things DJI, but they are innovative, if not always user friendly...as in they never (just my observation) create a drone with any interchangeable parts...at least that I know of. For instance, filters for one of their drone models is unlikely to fit any other of their drone's cameras. RE image quality: I believe the smallish sensor of this drone is the same sensor in my Mini 4 Pro. The M4P drone shoots beautiful images...I've been a professional videographer since 1986...and althought I am not the be-all, end-all source of image quality expertise, I've made a living producing excellent quality nature films. Any of you whining about DJI products being too expensive are most likely newbies to the world of drones/videography. Otherwise you'd be grateful for how good you have it.
Just so y'all know, the goggles also work with the Mini 4 Pro, and I'm pretty sure they also work on the latest Air. You can buy them separate, and pair them via the RC 2 controller.
Also once they release an O4 air unit the goggles and maybe controller will work with that too. You are right it is the RC2 since that is what the mini 4 pro uses, I have no idea what they were on about, maybe that the DJI FPV remote controller 3 works with the goggles and avata 2?
To be honest, back then the TVs were actually harmful for your eyes because they sent blue light right on your eyes. But nowadays the TVs/phones or even this drone for instance, has protection for your eyes. Your parents were not wrong after all.
I reckon I ruined my eyesight watching TV for hours from a metre away when I was around 12. I don't think it's the light that does it, it's just the muscles that focus the lens don't get the exercise from full range of motion they would in real life 3D.

You can first get one of those super cheap $40 regular drones to see if you even like flying. But it's fun, especially if you used to fly in video games.

13k is the technical limitation, legally in the uk you can go 400m out, 100m up and need a spotter to do fpv. Also you will need an A2COFC certificate that close to buildings on top of the flyer id and operator id you need to fly it at all.
Not completely true. The range is only 10 km in the UK due to the lower limits on transmission power. Your distance and height limits are wrong too. You are allowed up to 120 m from the closest point on the Earth's surface and there is no limit on distance but you need to keep it within unaided visual line of sight. You aren't allowed to fly it near buildings or people due to its weight, drones under 250g can fly close to people or buildings. You are right about the flyer and operator ID and that you need a spotter for FPV though.
In the EU I can go 120m high and as for how far I am allowed to fly idk. But I did try to get my avata 2 as far away as I could and I got a good kilometer out of it. After that the connection got bad but I was surrounded by houses so no wonder. I assume it gets way further on an open field so yeah kilometers of range might be real, but as for 13km I am not so sure...
it's actually really not bad, since the image is so high fidelity in the goggles. though if you use the head tracking feature it can mess you up while standing

I just bought the Avata 2 last week and although it was my first real drone I would be hard pressed to come up with a con for a review. It's really easy for a beginner to pick up on and control, has amazing video quality and is just pure fun to fly.
Already a thing with DJI drones, they have an automated follow setting. It will track your movements and follow you at the distance and height you set, and is fast enough to follow you in a car (not on the highway tho, lol)

fyi, security cams take up a ton of data due to the constant filming, which is why they are usually such a low bitrate and/or resolution. It's not like there is a cheap way to store petabytes of 4k30fps footage that serve no purpose until something really bad happens that would require that footage to be reviewed. While cameras are getting better, ways to store that data is not getting cheaper for large commercial data centers.

I think the Ukrainians have definitely helped the FPV drone market with all their combat videos of using drones to take out Russians. DJI should definitely make a donation to them for the free PR, although since they're a Chinese company I don't see that happening.
Just a reminder that the goggles here are illegal in the USA to fly by yourself you’ll need a spotter to actually see the drone. Maybe consider AR glasses instead for the same effect but still semi transparent so you can legally solo fly
