DJI have definitely considered the thermal performance of the M3P. Three ways to tell, the drone will enter an "ECO" mode if left on for prolonged periods. This turns off obstacle avoidance sensors, gimbal motors etc. Next the unified ventilation behind the camera and gimbal combined with the spaces through the rear chassis allows easy airflow through the aircraft.

The Integra Goggles firmware V 01.04.0000 and the MC2 firmware V 01.06.0000 had just added support for the Air3. This means that either the Integra and the MC2 supports O4, or better yet, and as expected, the Air 3 offers backward compatibility to O3, which in turn suggests the the same is expected with the Mini 4 Pro, and potentially any future O4 based drone.
Annoyed to find my M3P filters didn't fit my new 4 but pleased to find you can upload directly from the SD card without turning the drone on. My biggest concern is the 120m setting as each winter and summer I fly a lot in the Alps, always a lot lower than 120m of terrain but often probably higher than 120m from me.

I have the same issue but the other way round. I live on top of a cliff edge with a sharp 250m drop. I tend to fly my drone down along the cliff walls to capture sunsets etc. My concern is that should the drone lose signal and start the RTH sequence how will it distinguish where the 120M flight height starts? If it goes up 120M from it's current location it will definitley not be enough to clear the cliff walls resulting in the loss of the drone once the batteries drain from it being stuck stationery in one spot. This EU law is stupid imo, one should just have a disclaimer claiming responsibilty if they fly above 120M as it was before. It shouldn't be a difficult thing to control since now we will have remote ID etc
Interesting that they currently do not offer the Mini 4 as a 'drone only' purchase! If I had an Air 3 I would be quite aggrieved that I would be forced to buy it with a controller I don't need...
Exactly the situation I am in. I recently purchased the Air 3 and I would love if DJI would offer the "drone only" purchase. I would love to have the sub 250 gram addition being I live by an airport. The new controller works amazing and I have had no connection issues at all.
Just to add, in case people are wondering; no, the 120 m restriction won't come to *all* sub 250g drones. Only the ones that take advantage of a C0 classification, which are Mini 2 SE, Mini 3/Pro, and Mini 4 Pro. Other drones will fall into the legacy category, and without a C0 classification, there's no reason to impose that restriction. Also, the same applies to C1. Any drone that is released on the market in the EU after 1/1 2024 however, will have to have a C classification, otherwise it cannot be flown in the open category and A1/A3 airspace.
@@Ad_Alta You will not "escape" it, at least not on paper. Those drones will be able to fly in "A1 restricted", however I've yet to find a definition of what that is. Also, legacy sub 250g drones can only fit in this category if they have a declared MTOM of 249g or lower. No drones carry this declaration that are not C0 already. Therefore legacy sub 250g drones will only be allowed in the A3 category. On paper, that is.
Batteries also have different output & capacity, so better not to swap them (I am glad that you can identify them by symbols as I already mixed them with mini 3 pro as got confused in the beginning)
They should leave it to the consumer to set the height restriction. We drive cars on roads with speed limits but auto manufacturers don’t restrict engine performance to suit those. Consumer responsibility, DJI have already done enough by giving us the option to set our own height setting without caving in to the EU’s nanny state antics.

Not until they release the SDK for it. It took 11 months for them to release it on the M3P. Maybe as they're so similar it will be a quick release this time but who knows, I just bought a M3P for that reason.
The RC Pro not being able to work with the Mini 4 pro ia a big scam if you ask me.. Why should there be no options for clean HDMI at such a price point?

Great video! I got a question (might be a stupid question haha). I've had a mini 2 for almost 2 years now, and I am going to upgrade... Should I go for Air 3 or the Mini 4 Pro?
If you were to encounter an official who wanted to weigh your drone and you were using a Mini 3 Pro battery, all you'd have to do is delay them for a few minutes while you fly around to discharge the battery, obviously lowering it's weight. Alternatively, simply remove one of the rotors from each motor. I'm sure they aren't really needed anyway, it's just for show.
Really glad we can override here in the US. I've got the Mavic pro 2. I'm thinking about selling it and getting the mini 4 pro. Aside from the size and wind issues, any reasons this would be a downgrade?

Hmm. I'm a bit concerned and confused. I was going for a mini 4 as a travel drone since less than 250g. Bui i think i heard you say air 3 was ok in Europe. I don't want hassles, and cost difference is nothing. Whick should i go for? Is ce rate important ?
if a council or police snark weighs your drone and says it is "2 grammes over weight" the legal answer is "I want to see your weighing scales' current calibration certificates with a traceable standards laboratory / test house with accuracy values plotted across it's range of weights (correction polynomials/coefficients etc) - some chinese scales are not linear at the upper and lower ends especially, they are temperature-related as well. You cannot repeat CANNOT be weighed by an uncalibrated (no current certificated) machine, swap out the battery swiftly as they come for you clutching their stupid little chinese amazon apparatus.
I have another question. Does mini 4 pro batteries work with mini 3 pro. It is lighter, so you can a rig your drone a little bit, keeping weight under 250g
Get an air-grinder (or any other type) and shave 2.1g of the very tips of the outside edge corners (being carefully to to go through the casing) of the M3P batteries and that will make them weigh the same as those with the M4P 😆
Through I don't always agree "with some "of the people on RUclips about their reviews I DO however Agree on everything you have mentioned on this one 👍👍 you have pointed out some really good valid points absolutely spot-on. 10/10 . DJI really do like to mixing things up don't they across the whole of the range sometimes they must be on a different planet . Question I have for dji: I own the Integra/Motion2 controller with my Mini 3 Pro, DJI just recently updated the Integra/motion2 to work with the Air 3 which is OS4+. Will the Mini 4 Pro be updated to also work with the Integra/Motion 2? Currently it's only thing stopping me from buying the 4 Pro.

Great video. Many thanks answered so many questions. I just did the dji survey when I received my mini 4. When they adked for ways of improving their drones I said they could start by improving compatibility with things like filters. Like everyone else, I now need to buy more freewell nd filters. It just seems in one hand we can use the batteries (although it takes it over the weight limit) in the other we need to spend more money. Great honest video once again and so helpful. Now I need to hide the mini pro 4 from the wife in the cupboard with the Avata and FPV😂😂😂😂 I need a bigger cupboard😂😂😂

In a court of law it would be difficult to argue over a couple of grams of weight having weighed a drone in the field. How accurate are the scales? Were they calibrated? How were they calibrated? What surface was used to place the scales on? Was the result within a range of error? Was the weighing procedure carried out in accordance with a protocol and can it be shown that it was done correctly? Were there any other factors that could have led to an erroneous result?
It’s strange the height limit of 120m when they can’t even limit car speeds to say the max of most fast motorways 120kph (bar autobahn). Cars owners are allowed to drive them to the max 200+ on roads that state 80kph. Its users choice to break the rules ??

I gave DJI a hard time about forcing new filter puchases, NOT including them in the Dly More kits Mini 4/Air 3 and no charger included. Cash grab? WHY NO! "Many customers said they DONT USE ND FILTERS and HAVE CHARGERS - so we are SAVING YOU MONEY IF YOU DONT NEED THEM. Nice try. The customers who buy Filters are professionalband understand the need. Theybare only saving money for noobs. The customers who buy many or ALL DJI DRONES are the ones being soaked. So the more you buy, the less we will give you? Not thrilled, DJI.

lighter yes, but as for flying longer, the difference is so little you wont notice the difference especially in conditions that drain battery life faster.
Hi. Dm. i live in Maryland USA. But grew up in London. Does the obstacle avoidance in the Mini 4 have upper avoidance. meaning that if it’s going vertically up will it stop or avoid an obstacle directly above it? (in know it says 360 though)
Lots of subtle changes so nothing is compatible without making it blatantly obvious. Meaning have to buy everything new, not really looking after customers but aimed at bleeding every last penny out of them. The battery weight difference is so very intentional. I'll be sticking with the 3 Pro and evaluate options next time I look to upgrade based on these leech tactics.

Depends on your answers to the following. how often do you fly? what do you use it for? Is your current drone fit for that purpose? can you live without obsticle avoidance 360, way points and enhanced active track?
For a very short time I was pleasantly surprised to see a blade holder included. That was until I came to refitting the damned thing. Bloody awful and it's now tossed aside. The one from my Mini 3 Pro fits, so another has just arrived to use on the 4. Also, while waiting for 4 accessories, the landing gear extension from the 3 fits the 4. This is the type with the rubber strap attachment and 4 legs which fold open and I use it all the time on the 3. It fits but the underside light is partially blocked. Not a problem, and it will do until a dedicated 4 version appears.
I was going to upgrade to the mini 4 pro, the Air 3, or the MAVIC 3 pro. Since they don’t support mapping software I’m going to stick to older drones that do and also don’t Geo fence me. In addition, the inability to use an existing controller with the mini 4 pro or Air 3 is a deal breaker as well. Apparently I more DJI drones for me even though I love my two current ones.
DJI sucks, should be up to the PILOT not the drone manufacturer who determines what laws you choose to either obey or not to obey! Autel ALL THE WAY…. I live in northeast United States and there are Airports all around me and DJ I will ground your drone limit you to 50 feet or 75 feet they just control how you fly your drone everywhere around these parts and it’s just not right you buy your drone you on it but yet they still determine how you fly it. That’ll be like Ford not letting their cars go over 55 miles an hour because hey, it’s against the law you’d be speeding so there’s no need for it it’s up to the people to determine what laws they break or don’t break nothing manufactures.
I’ve decided to hang on to my Mini 3 Pro as I mainly use it for nighttime video/photos of city skylines when I travel. Reason being is that it still has the very last firmware before DJI added Remote ID!
Ha ha ha the model number and serial number sticker is missing. stickers are hard to lose but this was missing. I searched the web to find out the name of the drone I did buy. found that it is a Teiio DI J . What does that mean question? Oh my God now I own something the government wants two papers oh filed and insurance bought on it. And that paperwork is not a one time thing. Somebody in governments around the world got their mits on drones early on and put in so many restrictions that I'm really sorry I own one and I don't know how to get rid of it to avoid the costly fees. I thought about sending it to my family in America but then ---oops it just revealed I have family in America that wasn't smart--- anyway if I had mailed it away I still was under the gun to say I own it by having purchased it here, anywhere. Now I find that having a drone is not a little toy but a way of life. somebody is making some serious money on this drone thing and it's not the people selling drones, at least in the USA I understand people have shot down drones over the neighbors property and got by with the distraction. Oh we're doing this thing on Christmas Eve and had it the next day-- only then did I find I joined a way of life that cost money every so many years. Thailand government has really got their mitts all the way around drones and hooked owners unsuspecting of what is coming four years in the future according to current law. Drones were sold for less than $3 on a blister pack yeahI saw-- are cops anywhere in the world gonna be running down 10 year old boys with $3 drones? + Now I know that madness also flies.
I'm thinking in buying this one or wait for the 5. However this altitude limit in Europe is driving me crazy. In the beginning of the year there was a chance of removing the limit removing the seal but I think that now that doesn't work.
Is a joke this 250gr mania a couple grams - or plus they don't do any difference in the safety (and that's why they put this limit) is just stupid if we actually talk about same grams up or down...
I bought the Integra goggles with the motion 2 controller literally two weeks before the mini four was released. Now it’s too late to change my mind on the goggles and controller. Will they ever be compatible with the mini four pro?

Not interested in this drone: image quality is the same, again a new controller, some extra (useless) gimmicks in comparison to the mini 3 and who the heck need occusync 4 ? The range of the mini 3 exceeds already dramatically line of sight…
I got mini 4 pro and autel nano plus. Range and camera in dji its crap as f...... Its really much worst then auto. What's better in dji its active track.
I think the waypoints + 360 sensors are vital for everyone who brought their mini 3 to their limits. Doing a POI flight in a narrow terrain could easily bring you a heart attack, while the 4 protects itself. And the waypoints offer a reproduceble or plannable scenario.... just think of you as the drone pilot tasking out a football game. With waypoints you can easily store standard moves before the game and run them when it fits during the game. Soo much options. Ok, you aren't able to plan the waypoints ahead on the map (currently?), but that's really unsave tbh. There are lots of obstacles irl maybe. Better to do it on sight. Cheers.

@BlairAir not true, 500 Meter is fixed by an fw-update! Newer bring it back to wlan, an dji cannot do anything in future to your drone!

They limited per EU rules, then removed it (for now, since it isn't required yet) Scary part is they did it OTA -no Firmware install required.

If your fly area is windy and the weight is not an issue - Air 3.
If drone weight is an issue and on your flight path it's not windy - Mini 4 pro.
Do you know if version 4 can measure better the altitude while flying on water, compared with version 3? Have not found anyone testing this.

Why mini 3 and 4 have video recording limit of 4 minutes and then file is closed, new file is opened ? Around 3.67 GB limit ?

Hmm. I'm a bit concerned and confused. I was going for a mini 4 as a travel drone since less than 250g. Bui i think i heard you say air 3 was ok in Europe. I don't want hassles, and cost difference is nothing. Whick should i go for? Is ce rate important ?

if a council or police snark weighs your drone and says it is "2 grammes over weight" the legal answer is "I want to see your weighing scales' current calibration certificates with a traceable standards laboratory / test house with accuracy values plotted across it's range of weights (correction polynomials/coefficients etc) - some chinese scales are not linear at the upper and lower ends especially, they are temperature-related as well. You cannot repeat CANNOT be weighed by an uncalibrated (no current certificated) machine, swap out the battery swiftly as they come for you clutching their stupid little chinese amazon apparatus.
I have another question. Does mini 4 pro batteries work with mini 3 pro. It is lighter, so you can a rig your drone a little bit, keeping weight under 250g
Get an air-grinder (or any other type) and shave 2.1g of the very tips of the outside edge corners (being carefully to to go through the casing) of the M3P batteries and that will make them weigh the same as those with the M4P 😆

DJI really do like to mixing things up don't they across the whole of the range sometimes they must be on a different planet . Another Mini 4 question: If you create a Waypoint plan, do need use the same takeoff location when reusing that plan in the future?
I've heard other RUclipsrs saying yes you do.
@@jimbernard3289 Maybe Darren can clarify my question. My testing showed that you could takeoff at a different location and fly to the first Waypoint and complete the Waypoint plan. Maybe there are limitations of getting to saved flight plans. Clarification?
Flight plan turns off object avoidance. I'd say no.

Question I have for dji: I own the Integra/Motion2 controller with my Mini 3 Pro, DJI just recently updated the Integra/motion2 to work with the Air 3 which is OS4+. Will the Mini 4 Pro be updated to also work with the Integra/Motion 2? Currently it's only thing stopping me from buying the 4 Pro.

Great video. Many thanks answered so many questions. I just did the dji survey when I received my mini 4. When they adked for ways of improving their drones I said they could start by improving compatibility with things like filters. Like everyone else, I now need to buy more freewell nd filters. It just seems in one hand we can use the batteries (although it takes it over the weight limit) in the other we need to spend more money. Great honest video once again and so helpful. Now I need to hide the mini pro 4 from the wife in the cupboard with the Avata and FPV😂😂😂😂 I need a bigger cupboard😂😂😂
Lucky the design evolved rather than dramatically different! My wife hasn’t noticed the change from the mini 2 to the 3 pro and now to the 4 pro! Let’s be thankfully to DJI for that 🤣🤣🤣🤣

In a court of law it would be difficult to argue over a couple of grams of weight having weighed a drone in the field. How accurate are the scales? Were they calibrated? How were they calibrated? What surface was used to place the scales on? Was the result within a range of error? Was the weighing procedure carried out in accordance with a protocol and can it be shown that it was done correctly? Were there any other factors that could have led to an erroneous result?

It’s strange the height limit of 120m when they can’t even limit car speeds to say the max of most fast motorways 120kph (bar autobahn). Cars owners are allowed to drive them to the max 200+ on roads that state 80kph. Its users choice to break the rules ??

I gave DJI a hard time about forcing new filter puchases, NOT including them in the Dly More kits Mini 4/Air 3 and no charger included. Cash grab? WHY NO! "Many customers said they DONT USE ND FILTERS and HAVE CHARGERS - so we are SAVING YOU MONEY IF YOU DONT NEED THEM. Nice try. The customers who buy Filters are professionalband understand the need. Theybare only saving money for noobs. The customers who buy many or ALL DJI DRONES are the ones being soaked. So the more you buy, the less we will give you? Not thrilled, DJI.

lighter yes, but as for flying longer, the difference is so little you wont notice the difference especially in conditions that drain battery life faster.
Hi. Dm. i live in Maryland USA. But grew up in London. Does the obstacle avoidance in the Mini 4 have upper avoidance. meaning that if it’s going vertically up will it stop or avoid an obstacle directly above it? (in know it says 360 though)
Yes, it does; the 4 sensors at the front are angled to capture pitch, yaw, and top, the lower sensors handle the bottom.
Lots of subtle changes so nothing is compatible without making it blatantly obvious. Meaning have to buy everything new, not really looking after customers but aimed at bleeding every last penny out of them. The battery weight difference is so very intentional. I'll be sticking with the 3 Pro and evaluate options next time I look to upgrade based on these leech tactics.

I just got a mini 3 pro about 6 months ago, should I upgrade already?
Depends on your answers to the following. how often do you fly? what do you use it for? Is your current drone fit for that purpose? can you live without obsticle avoidance 360, way points and enhanced active track?
For a very short time I was pleasantly surprised to see a blade holder included. That was until I came to refitting the damned thing. Bloody awful and it's now tossed aside. The one from my Mini 3 Pro fits, so another has just arrived to use on the 4. Also, while waiting for 4 accessories, the landing gear extension from the 3 fits the 4. This is the type with the rubber strap attachment and 4 legs which fold open and I use it all the time on the 3. It fits but the underside light is partially blocked. Not a problem, and it will do until a dedicated 4 version appears.
I have the original mavic mini so this will be a massive upgrade for me great channel 👍

I was going to upgrade to the mini 4 pro, the Air 3, or the MAVIC 3 pro.
Since they don’t support mapping software I’m going to stick to older drones that do and also don’t Geo fence me.
In addition, the inability to use an existing controller with the mini 4 pro or Air 3 is a deal breaker as well.
Apparently I more DJI drones for me even though I love my two current ones.
easy... if you have a mini 3 pro, not worth it, go for a air 3 with zoom lens , better control in wind etc... if you new to drones.. totally !
DJI sucks, should be up to the PILOT not the drone manufacturer who determines what laws you choose to either obey or not to obey! Autel ALL THE WAY…. I live in northeast United States and there are Airports all around me and DJ I will ground your drone limit you to 50 feet or 75 feet they just control how you fly your drone everywhere around these parts and it’s just not right you buy your drone you on it but yet they still determine how you fly it. That’ll be like Ford not letting their cars go over 55 miles an hour because hey, it’s against the law you’d be speeding so there’s no need for it it’s up to the people to determine what laws they break or don’t break nothing manufactures.

I’ve decided to hang on to my Mini 3 Pro as I mainly use it for nighttime video/photos of city skylines when I travel. Reason being is that it still has the very last firmware before DJI added Remote ID!

Ha ha ha the model number and serial number sticker is missing. stickers are hard to lose but this was missing. I searched the web to find out the name of the drone I did buy. found that it is a Teiio DI J . What does that mean question? Oh my God now I own something the government wants two papers oh filed and insurance bought on it. And that paperwork is not a one time thing. Somebody in governments around the world got their mits on drones early on and put in so many restrictions that I'm really sorry I own one and I don't know how to get rid of it to avoid the costly fees. I thought about sending it to my family in America but then ---oops it just revealed I have family in America that wasn't smart--- anyway if I had mailed it away I still was under the gun to say I own it by having purchased it here, anywhere. Now I find that having a drone is not a little toy but a way of life.
somebody is making some serious money on this drone thing and it's not the people selling drones, at least in the USA I understand people have shot down drones over the neighbors property and got by with the distraction. Oh we're doing this thing on Christmas Eve and had it the next day-- only then did I find I joined a way of life that cost money every so many years.
Thailand government has really got their mitts all the way around drones and hooked owners unsuspecting of what is coming four years in the future according to current law. Drones were sold for less than $3 on a blister pack yeahI saw-- are cops anywhere in the world gonna be running down 10 year old boys with $3 drones? + Now I know that madness also flies.

Not much more expensive is an overstatement. A near 400 dollar + taxes difference is actually a ton. That's almost half a grand.
I'm thinking in buying this one or wait for the 5. However this altitude limit in Europe is driving me crazy. In the beginning of the year there was a chance of removing the limit removing the seal but I think that now that doesn't work.

I bought the Integra goggles with the motion 2 controller literally two weeks before the mini four was released. Now it’s too late to change my mind on the goggles and controller. Will they ever be compatible with the mini four pro?
I would check to see if you have a firmware update. I have the air3 and the goggles and motion controller was updated this weekend to work on the air 3 and mini 4

I think the waypoints + 360 sensors are vital for everyone who brought their mini 3 to their limits. Doing a POI flight in a narrow terrain could easily bring you a heart attack, while the 4 protects itself. And the waypoints offer a reproduceble or plannable scenario.... just think of you as the drone pilot tasking out a football game. With waypoints you can easily store standard moves before the game and run them when it fits during the game. Soo much options. Ok, you aren't able to plan the waypoints ahead on the map (currently?), but that's really unsave tbh. There are lots of obstacles irl maybe. Better to do it on sight. Cheers.
