- More Sonic fangames, more fun! I'm back covering some more unofficial spinoffs that take the franchise in new directions with their takes on the series gameplay styles... and Sonic Omens!

So, there's some important details I think need to be mentioned. Sega isn't scared of fangames, they unironically count on them. Board meetings of SegaSammy implies that Sonic Fangames are more of a tool for them to keep the publics eye's on their more kid-friendly business practices, and no their gambling/pachinko parlor deals and machines.

Hmm. I've gotta say Omens was hardly given a chance by the general public. The level design is fine. For United Railroad, I think it strikes a very strong balance between being a Sonic level and a believable train yard. Most importantly, the levels make tons of use of the controls of the Infinity Engine so that we can do the usual Sonic thing of making shortcuts. Enemy rooms are hardly an issue. They're reasons to use the Light Speed Attack and Chaos Blast or Chaos Control.
Omens flip-flops between the best boost game ever made with sections made to make us suffer (especially some bosses and Tornado levels). It's 06 of fan games - with some more polish it might be a masterpiece, just like the some of its levels.

@sonic-templeos There's also the questionable writing at times, Shadow's VA (unlike the others) barely even _trying_ to hide his obvious Russian accent, and the weird decision to delete the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald as an "explanation" for why they don't show up when they literally do
@@thomasthecoolkid7228They use the decision that Sega decided to make in regards to the Chaos emeralds not being the main focus of the franchises stories. Just a smile what if scenario. And why knuckles was officially off his Island for so many games.
As far as the Russian shadow.....the whole team is Russian he did his best.
Honestly, for Sonic Omens I loved the game. I genuinely loved it a lot. Playing as Shadow with his actual abilities was so much fun, let alone playing as Super Sonic was one hell of a experience. I loved the music (especially the final level) and the boss fights truly surpassed my expectations
I forgot all about Sonic Showdown. It looks really good, but I suck at fighting games.
Oh... Sonic Omens. That's all the attention this game gets from me now.
Anyways, there's a Sonic-Themed Super Mario 64 hack that's worth messing around with. Sonic in Mario's mind adds Sonic's moveset in the N64 version. It's a bit clunky, but it's pretty cool.

@@dark_nightwing_xl2797 first of all, the game itself doesn't look that great. yes the animation is impressive, but the rest is really kinda meh. everything pops in (worst than sonic frontiers, which says a lot). the levels are really bad designed, you can easily get lost. the controls are just simply shit. and I don't even need to say anything about the voice acting, especially shadow. the plot is messy and all over the place, things aren't explained at all. and to top it all of, the developers are problematic and have a drama going on. but this is my personal opinion after I finished the game.

Yeah at the end of the day those are all fan games and not official and they all can’t compare with real games but can give you a great time and shows how much fans love sonic which is awesome

There's Sonic Holograph, but it's sadly not an actual game (yet). It's more like a fanfic written in a way that portrays it as a script of sorts for a hypothetical game that crosses over Sonic the Hedgehog with a reinterpreted, more Sonic-like version of Hololive. And it's _awesome,_ it even has some more traditionally-written stories mixed in.

I don't like it when people say the fan games are better when sega doesn't take them down. Like rolling rascal wouldn't nearly be as popular if the developers never put their names out their with their fan games first. it always feels like a shallow backhand to overly compliment a fan project that when you look at as a whole is satisfying a nich audience rather then a broad spectrum that sonic games try to hit. It makes is really hard to enjoy dicussion.

Really is a shame that you dumped on omens like that. Especially considering the patches that made the game a better experience. And then you have the nerve to flip it over to Big fan game as a "joke"... Cute but obnoxious.
Omens was hardly given
a fair change chance by the people because of obvious reasons. The level design is good. United Railroad, is by far one of the best level designs in the game actually mixing it up for the player and keeping them on their toes. On top of that the game actually gives you a sense of utilizing all of your controls hence the Infinity Engine so that we can do the usual Sonic thing of
