- A viewer who liked my MHGU content once asked me if I would do videos on the final bosses of the game, to which I answered that I would not because they have a significant amount of HP due to being multiplayer monsters, and can take up to 10 minutes or more to slay, and I dislike posting runs that are that long.
This was the main reason, but another is that I despise these fights solo. Akantor and Ukanlos both are monsters who waste insane amount of time digging and emerging all around the map. Nakarkos also wastes a lot of time and has the highest HP pool of the lot.
The Fatalis trio have terrible hitzones and are boring. Alatreon, while it has the lowest HP pool is an unenjoyable fight for me personally in games prior to Iceborne.
And finally, there's Amatsu and Athal-Ka. I exclusively did a video on Athal-Ka because she's among my top 3 monsters in the series.
Amatsu has a decent amount of moves that can waste time if you're unlucky but it is far from being as worse as Akantor and Ukanlos.
I've never watched any runs of Amatsu with the weapon so this is pure freestyle. Just me with what I know of the matchup, my experience with it goes back to MHP3rd where Amatsu was probably the monster i hunted the most with Hammer.
While I did get hit a few times and had unlucky RNG on Amatsu's part, this was still by far my fastest run out of about ~10 tries.
I also missed a few golf swings because of poor placement ; Amatsu's head hitbox is quite small and it is easy to hit its neck, hitting the above part of its head, its horns, is much easier.
Amatsu's a really interesting monster that I always loved because of how smart its design is. Amatsu is basically an underwater fight, except instead of being underwater Amatsu simply floats in the air. If you look closely at Amatsu, you can see it has the same underwater animations as a lot of Leviathan species monsters such as Lagiacrus and Royal Ludroth.
I also love those unique noises across its moveset, when it roars or simply moves. They're like bell sounds, or some kind of other instrument that I don't know of, it's difficult to describe.
The only thing I dislike about it is the weird, extremely delayed hitboxes on some of its attacks, like the tail scrap and the spin charges.

oh man. treating us to this spectacle is always a delight. amatsu is probably one of the most incredible monsters in the series- its serene simplicity belies true majesty, and Amatsumagatsuchi really does look and feel like a creature of myth; forget legend. This beast was worshipped. Plenty of the iconic elders fit the bill, but few encapsulate it quite as well as she. The phase 2 music with the transition is so moving! thank you for this one, and great run as always ! :D

You hit her wiggly head way more than I'd expect anyone to be able to--what a fun run to see. I'm so hopeful we'll see her again with an update. Her understated music is one of my favourites in the series, and visually I love her armor sets.
An Amatsu run is such a good idea. Watching the dance of you two fighting each other and all of the sounds firing off is amazing. Great run, you should run more old gen MH games. Edit: watching Amatsu get head-sniped is mesmerizing.
Amatsu's head looks narrow and wiggles a lot, but you managed to nail *hehe* those hits :o
I hope she will meet her fellow floaty monsters in Rise/Sunbreak
The best monster shall forever live in Mt soul, sad it's fight got a bit watered down in mhgu but it is still amazing!

Ah, yes, the eventual final boss of Sunbreak. Seriously, we don't have a Stormsoul Deco for boosting Thunder and Dragon element yet. I doubt we're getting Risen serpents, or at least Risen Narwa, so if they're not giving us Stormsoul Decos, then I don't know what will.
That's actually a good theory/idea. I was wondering whether we just do not get Stormsoul decos, because we probably will never get Risen Serpents. But Amatsu, as predicted final boss of Sunbreak, would fit perfectly for giving us those. It is literally a stormy Elder Dragon. A real"duh"-moment, in hindsight.
The only question left is whether the skill will get 'nerfed', because I cannot imagine them giving us the +1 and +2 effects for all armor skills that comes with the last two levels of Stormsoul. This would be busted on a level comparable with Iceborne's Fatty gear. Which, now that I wrote this, would actually make sense as the final update, closing out our Sunbreak journey.
I highly doubt we will be getting Stormsoul decos, they would utterly break the armor skill system, even more than it already is. There is a reason why Stormsoul is limited to just the Ibushi/Narwa armors and that they can only get basic qurio augments like defence and resistances.

Pretty much 90% the exact same fight, you can pretty much copy what I do in this run ; though it won't be as safe since you won't have the adept dodge, so expect to get hit often.
In exchange, I believe Amatsu stays KO for much longer back in P3rd.

@@dynamo_lynn I just never liked playing as a Prowler or enjoyed watching Prowler runs. Just a preference.

This almost felt like bad advertisement as you hardly gotten any damage due to all those perfect dodges.

@@dynamo_lynn You hardly took any damage due to all those perfect dodges or whatever those windy rolls to the side were. And as many people are thinking that Amatsu might come to Sunbreak, this didn't really feel like a good advertisement of the monster.
@@redtool It's the Adept dodge, if you roll at the last second before getting hit you'll be invincible and get a change to counter attack. In Sunbreak this is gonna be even worse for Amatsu considering the amount of counters on every single weapon, so I don't see how that's bad advertisement haha. I hope Amatsu gets revamped to keep up with how strong hunters have gotten though.
So adept hammer means keep upper cutting 😑 not gonna lie the most boring hammer game play , now hammer is not my favorite weapon anymore , good video I guess
