Dorian was one of the most intense bodybuilders ever. He probably lost size due to just not really training weights. He said he got into cycling which probably made him smaller also.

I've heard dorian say that in interviews. I've also heard kaz say at his age he still trains but its to look strong not necessarily to be strong.

I can appreciate that lifters who preach intensity use Dorian Yates as an example, but this is often their ONLY example, and in practice their are very few BB or strength athletes who reached maximal potential using such low volumes. Volume, intensity and frequency are separate but equal and rep range is specific to strength and endurance but nowhere near as specific to hypertrophy it seems

Solid info. Would you say that 3-4 reps is low enough for intensity-focused sets? The last rep would be a grinder.

All very good points. If you look at Frank Zane now, it’s insane how much he has retained from his youth. He was also a student of himself, so writing everything down is extremely beneficial.
