Being a miata owner for 1+ year and trying my best with every possible DIY way to fix it's little issues here and there, this is one of my most favourite videos, the whole process and the editing really showed the frustration in the middle part and the absolute joy with the end result (which was perfect, way better than I thought, being dissapointed from some of my experience), I also have issues with the panel gaps on my miata, I'm going to try some self tapping screws my self!
Thanks man! Not everybody will like the fact that the video is so long but it's always nice to hear people appreciate the effort. Good luck with your own projects!
Bro get yourself a extendable ratchet so it can go from standard size to breaker bar size for more leverage. I have been using the same one for almost 10 years now and it works wonders and thanks for showing me love on the new house. Truly appreciate it.
Yikes, definitely feel for your rusty car problems! To be honest the car doesn't seem that rusty compared to the usual crusty ones we see in Canada. Nice job cleaning and repainting the rusty area under the fender. Way to persevere to get it replaced and looking good!
Thanks! To be honest she has been a garage queen for most of her life so I guess that helps a lot, although I did snap a few bolts and nuts. I've seen a lot of them that have been outside most of their life and our Dutch weather is not really forgiving to say the least! Thanks for the compliment btw! Yeah I figured, I need to do this right so it minimizes problems in the future.
Wow, I get the frustration with getting this type of damage in the first place, and then having to deal with all these bolts shearing off.. But you got there in the end! Makes for a long video but it’s very informative. Good that you did some rust prevention under there. That also turned all my “simple” panel removal jobs into multiple day ordeals, but it’s worth it in the end. Also interesting to see how the bumper to fender fitment for the NA is much more complex compared to the NB.
Great video, very thorough and well explained. (You showed a lot of patience with those rusty 10mmm bolts!!) P.s. I was beginning to think you had given up on your YT channel as you hadn't posted for several months. Glad to see you're back 👍.
Thanks! Yeah because of those rusted bolts it was a long video but I guess it made the video a bit more interesting for fellow MX5 enthousiasts because we all have to deal with this issue 😆 If it is up to me I will never stop making videos but sometimes I'm just too busy and I need a little break from my hobby... I will always return though because making this videos and reading all these nice comments bring me great joy!
What timing. This video came out hours after I got the exact same damage in the exact same spot in my red spec Miata during a race. I will be referring to this, thank you!
The best way to remove the two lover bolts on the sill is to use heat. a propaneburner is the best - do not heat the third bolt placed forevard as it is screwed into a plastic fitting. a generous amount of heat is almost always the best way of saving seized bolts.
Heyyyy, You're at it again. That's awesome! My youtube bell didn't chime, so thanks to your comment on my video, I brushed up on your channel. Looking forward to this one, which seems like an ambitious one, judged by the the rust theme and the video length 😅
This guide is absolutely amazing I need to do this very job on my poor lil' 96'. I don't suppose you could tell me what paint you used on the black line? Many thanks and thank you so much for the amazing in-depth installation.
Glad I'm not the only person who has every single fucking bolt snap on these bastard cars... There are a lot of bolts that hold the fenders on which are unecessary and can be omitted when refitting, those two shit ones on the inside front which hold the fender to the bracket can be left out as the fender bolts on the front of the body under the headlight and the bumper anyway, additionally a ratcheting spanner is very very handy for the front bolt beneath the headlight.
@@MiataMods had the same issue with not being able to snap the bumper corner bolt off all the way, had to support with jack and drill down to clear it. One side had none of the bolts unsnapped when I got the car and I've had to drill out the old bolt to the next size up and retap a mm bigger or two (can't remember how far, just go til you have a clean shiny hole to tap). Wear sleeves or welding gloves when drilling, it's no fun when the hot shavings rain down.
You will probably get away with not having them at all if you really have to though, the panels just jiggle faintly more without them when driving but I didn't notice any sound before I realised how messed up the bad side was. Only knew because I went under to take out the baby teeth
Hello, Mr. MiataMods! I have a question, where is the fuse of the fuel pump? Sometimes my car stalls, and there are suspicions of a fuse or wiring malfunction, but I can't find something understandable on the diagrams on the Internet, or rather, I find it, but some things no one can explain. Or I'm not good at searching. I have a toyota crown 171, and it's very easy to find a similar problem. Does the miata have a separate fuse for the fuel pump? Thanks!
Hello Yuri, the Fuel Injector Relay (name = INJ) is what powers the fuel pump, injectors, ECU, and other engine management. It’s a 30A fuse. I hope this helps
@@MiataMods Oh Thank you! Very very intresting =\ And last question i forgot, fuse named "ST SIG" - what is that for? In fuse schemes it is "fuel injection" but, engine starts and works fine without that fuse. In internet some peoples have same question and some peoples says "without this fuse my car works fine" I guess it stands for "Start Signal" idk. Thank you again!)
The king has returned
You are too kind 🙌

Yesss, finally a new video about your Miata 😀
And my longest video yet because of all my struggles 😅

I have never heard of an extendable ratchet but I Googled it and it's amazing! Thanks for the tip my guy 💪💪

Nee dit hoort helaas bij ons weer in NL, bouten/moeren roesten gewoon compleet vast. Geef niet op, gewoon doorgaan met dat roesthok 👌🤣
Long time no see, glad to see one of your videos after a year or so
I've been focussed on my daily the past year (Lexus IS250) but this job was long overdue so I finally decided to tackle this job!

Good luck and hopefully you wont snap any bolts like me!
this video made my day, thanks for explaining everything in detail!

Thank you for doing this video.
I'm waiting a how to replace front and rear suspension. ✌
Got my coilovers ready to be installed so I will be covering that topic in the near future!
Wow nice job!
Thanks! 😄
@@MiataMods Did you even did a video how to change the cabin air filter? Many people dont even know it have one and where it is!

Hey man, it's just matt black stone chip spray paint, nothing fancy. Every matt black stone chip spray paint will do! Good luck!
I ruined my bumper mount brackets too, replaced them with some random cut-to-size metal I had lying around :D
That’s also an option 😂 Nice job!

Need a good comprehensive video on putting 1.8 starter in 1.6
What year is your Miata?
Back from the death
👋

Any seller should be fine. I got it from IL Motorsport
i broke all of those same brace bolts so i felt that pain
Thanks bro 🙌 How did you fix it?

Happened to both of mine.
