As an iPhone user Will have to sadly agree . Have had android for all my life up to the iPhone 12. Then really started regretting this OS migration… android has a bunch of shortcuts… you can long press virtually anything and get a shortcut associated to the toggle you’re pressing. iPhones you must literally dig into the settings to find what you need. And let’s not talk about the horrible battery life on iPhones …

Switched from iPhone to Pixel about 6 years ago. Have an iPhone from work, and I couldn't imagine going back to the iPhone software. The Pixel software is just way more streamlined for what I use. I use Google Assitant a lot, and it's been way better than Siri for a long time - hoping Gemini will continue its upward trend. And honestly, I can't deal with phones that don't have good spam filtering anymore. The number of spam calls I get on my iPhone is wild, whereas I've gotten maybe 2 spam calls on my Pixel since they rolled out that feature - and no false positives so far, which I was slightly concerned about.
Although, I do miss the fingerprint reader on the back and the squeeze for assitant feature from my Pixel 3 😭. I might be the only one, but I used that squeeze feature so much

I used iPhones through the 7th generation before deciding to just try Android. I've had the Pixel 7 (standard) for the last couple years and it's been great! I'm likely to upgrade to the 9 Pro (smaller) soon. And I have to say... When I pick up an iPhone nowadays, I feel confused and lost on how to do basic stuff. iOS just doesn't make sense to me anymore at all, since I've left the iOS / MacOS ecosystem.
If anyone out there is an iPhone user thinking of making the jump, don't make a huge deal out of it. Buy a used phone and try it out for a month. It's less dramatic than you might think.

I've been using the iPhone XR for five years, and with Apple's upgrades this year, I thought it might be worth the switch. But after seeing the reviews for the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, the Pixel seems like a better choice, especially given the price. I don't see much difference between the Pro and the standard version, aside from the extra camera, so I'm leaning towards the Pixel 9.

Pixel 9 pro price will go down and although its more expensive, much of the pixel's magic happens with google cloud, and you get one year of free 2 tb of google cloud storage and ai premium with pixel 9 pro. Some tips from a Pixel user since the 6 pro. If you can buy direct from Google. I trade up every year during the pre-sale. Once you ever do the first time purchase I usually get good trade in value every year! They are giving me $700 for my pixel 8 pro along with a $200 credit in the google store that i will use to trade up my watch 2 to the watch 3. When I return my watch they will give me another $220 store credit for the watch that I will use to purchase the new google ear buds. So for around $500 total I am getting all of the new 2024 upgrades! I plan on doing the same thing next year as long as google keeps the great trade in value and nice google store credits. I would go with the 256 version. I do have an ipad along with several other tablets by Samsung and Lenovo as well as a PC. Goodluck!

    • @epsilon1670
      @epsilon1670 2 месяца назад

@@eddiepeele9810I'm trading in my 7a and they are giving me almost as much as I bought the phone for so I second what your saying.
If your a first time pixel owner though I would always recommend waiting for Google to heavily discount to what most would argue is the real price for the phone as they do extremely competitive reductions.

Pixel Software update are meant to be slower. Their updates (Android / Security Updates) keep downloading in the background and keep installing at the same time. Once the update is complete, you just need to wait for just a normal phone reboot for the changes to take effect.
While on other android phones, the updates get downloaded and extracted, although they get installed during phone reboot which needs you to wait for a longer time as you won't be able to use your phone during the same.
So Pixel software updates are slower and yet much better than other android brands out there.

I was immersed in Apple's ecosystem too, but I always carried a Pixel for the camera, while using an iPhone for everything else.
Alas, when my iPhone conked out, I switched over to the Pixel supposedly temporarily, but ended up staying on it.
I don't miss iMessage at all because Google Messenger can easily be accessed on a Mac or iPad, moreso than iMessage on a PC.
The ONLY things I *kind of* miss are Airdrop and Continuity, but those are never very reliable anyhow.
So for now, Pixel + Mac is my setup, which in my opinion beats the odd combination of iPhone + PC, which many people seem to have.

Thanks Gemini😂: In this video, Google Pixel 9 is being reviewed by Andrew Ethan Zeng, who is an iPhone user. He is excited to use and test this phone as it is his first Pixel phone. He will be replacing his iPhone 15 Pro with this phone and will be using it daily. He will be migrating everything over to Google's ecosystem and will be testing Android OS, the new tensa G4 chipset, display, battery, and camera. He will also be doing a side-by-side camera test with his iPhone 15 Pro. His review will be from the perspective of a brand new Pixel user.
    First Impressions:
    * The phone feels nicer in hand than expected.
    * The silky glass texture is great.
    * The PE color is much more interesting in person.
    * The box includes a 1 M USBC cable, a Sim removal tool, and support QR codes.
    * The case is included in the box.
    Setting Up:
    * The setup and migration was easier than expected.
    * He was able to copy settings and accounts right from his iPhone in the guided setup.
    * The initial security update took over half an hour to install.
    * The transition from iPhone to Pixel was a breeze.
    * Thanks to the Google ecosystem, he uses more native Google services than iOS apps.
    * If you use Google Calendar, Maps, Gmail, and RUclips, moving over from an iPhone is seamless and hassle-free.
    After a Week of Use:
    * He went straight to testing the camera at the beach and a botanical garden.
    * He was impressed by how consistently great the pictures are.
    * The Pixel reliably takes A+ shots no matter the lighting condition or situation.
    * He didn't need to worry or think twice about micro setting changes.
    * He posted up a few side-by-side shots from both the Pixel and the iPhone and asked viewers to tell him which photos they prefer.
    * He thinks the Pixel 9 stacks up pretty well.
    * The photos are true to life in colors and tones, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro snaps more vibrant pictures that can be just way too saturated.
    * The Google software driving the photography is shockingly good.
    * The ultrawide lens is sometimes more detailed than the iPhone 15 Pro.
    * The iPhone has much better Edge detection in portrait mode likely thanks to its inbuilt lighter scanner, while the Pixel 9 has better Ultra wide photos thanks to its slightly updated ultrawide lens.
    * The iPhone beats the Pixel in video. There's less grain and more detail in the iPhone.
    * He also ran into consistent Focus issues with the Pixel 9. It was constantly Focus hunting when he tapped to focus on different points in the frame, a problem that the iPhone doesn't have.
    * On paper, the Pixel 9 has a 50 megapixel main camera, two times optical zoom, and 48 megap Ultra wide camera with macro mode, while the Pixel 9 pro and pro XL gets 30 times zoom and a 48 map 5 times Zoom telephoto lens.
    * He thinks the camera comparison would have been a little more equal with the 9 Pro. That phone also gets 8K video recording and a few other software features like night sight.
    * Overall, the camera on the Pixel 9 pro is a big tick from him.
    * He loves the more natural looking tones on the Pixel.
    * It's just incredibly reliable.
    * He personally prefers the more natural looking tones on the Pixel and best of all it's just incredibly reliable and something that he can't exactly say with the Samsung's s24 Ultra that he tested earlier this year.
    Software and Gemini Features:
    * He found the Google pixel screenshots feature to be genuinely useful.
    * He was able to ask Gemini what the recipe that he screenshotted recently was, and it brought it up instantly.
    * He found instant access to Gemini anywhere on the phone by long pressing the power button to be useful.
    * He used Pixel Studio to generate renders of the Pixel 9.
    * He found the new adme and best take camera features to be pretty decent.
    * He also found the usual Circle to search functionality and spam call detection features to be genuinely useful.
    * He wished that the iPhone had these features.
    * He thinks the phone has the best AI integration of any phone he's tested.
    Design:
    * He finds the design pretty appealing.
    * It's nothing crazy unique, but it's clean and handsome.
    * The polish metal with its glass back has a great in hand fill, although sometimes slippery to hold.
    * The redesign camera Notch is still pretty iconic pixel.
    * He thinks it's more visually balanced than the iPhone 15's triangle lenses.
    * He thinks Google has done a great job with the color options.
    * They're all beautiful and well balanced without being too tacky or super flashy.
    * The peion color included.
    * The display is pretty dang decent with a resolution of 1080 x424.
    * It was a joy to use over the last week.
    * It's sharp, colorful, and ultra bright with a peak brightness of 2,700 nits.
    * It's absolutely a phone that works well in sunlight and even brighter than the iPhone 15 Pro.
    * He is not sure if it looks better than an iPhone overall.
    Operating System:
    * He loved using it the entire week.
    * It's just as simple to use as iOS, yet there's just a lot more functionality and customization.
    * The Google Integrations like calendar and chrome are brilliant.
    * Access to basic settings are much more straightforward than on iOS.
    * The operating system is completely bloat free and super easy to navigate.
    * He loves the now playing feature on the lock screen.
    * It's like Shazam on the iPhone, but it's always on.
    * The operating system is still an open ecosystem, so iOS is generally still going to be the more secure platform.
    * The tensa G4 chipset is impressive and it Powers Android 14 really nicely.
    * Everything from navigation to onboard AI functionality is buttery and in everyday use it's not all that much different to the iPhone 15 Pro.
    * Battery life over the week of use was pretty decent.
    * He got 14 hours of mixed usage, which is plenty for a single day.
    * He gets more like 10 to 12 hours on the iPhone 15 Pro.
    * The pixel 9 has a significantly bigger battery at 4575 Milah hour than the iPhone 15 Pros 3,274 Milah hour.
    * The charge rate for this phone is 27 Watts, which is pretty average and charges up to 55% from 0 in 30 minutes, similar to the iPhone 15 Pro.
    Gripes:
    * The storage size is 128 GB, which is too small.
    * The tensor G4 chip is not exactly flagship level good.
    * He missed Apple's face ID.
    * The fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 9 is okay, but it's not as reactive or convenient as face ID.
    Overall:
    * He was shocked by how much he enjoyed his time with the phone.
    * Google has done a great job with this phone, especially with the software.
    * It's the crown jewel of this phone.
    * It's a shame that its Hardware isn't a big leap forward.
    * The tensor G4 is a subtle upgrade and it does lag behind other Android flagships and the iPhone itself.
    * What it lacks in raw processing power it makes up for an incredible and wellth thought out software, a really beautiful and studdy design, and possibly one my favorite sets of mobile cameras yet.
    * He would choose to daily the Pixel 9 Pro if this wasn't a review device that he now has to return.
    * This is genuinely a really incredible phone that he really has enjoyed.
    * This is what happens when you jump over Apple's Ward Garden.
    * There's just slightly more phone in the Pixel 9 Pro than the iPhone 15 Pro.
    * It has a brighter display, Best in Class AI integration, and slightly more powerful cameras that produce what he thinks are more natural looking photos.
    * The iPhone 16 Pro is just about to launch, and that's going to completely change the comparison, especially now that Apple is about to flex its AI muscles with Apple Intelligence.

Why did you choose the colourful variant with another colourful case as well instead of their muted colours? It seems like you were surprised by how colourful it all came about

I would like to see this comparison once Apple Intelligence actually comes out. Also, it would be nice to see a video like this from someone who has never used an Android to see how easy/hard the transition would be. Let’s be honest, most Tech RUclipsrs are familiar with both so the transition is not as jarring as it would be for a regular person.

As a lifelong android user, my bad experience with the pixel 6 pro made me switch to the iphone 15 pro max. I hope Google gets away from the underpowered Tensor chip for the pixel 10 and does something that makes their constantly increasing pixel prices, worth it. They are charging flagship prices, but only providing about half of the performance levels. Pixels used to be amazing bang for your buck, but now the pixel 9 pro is the same price as the iphone 16 pro. That's crazy.

Hey, while I love the review I do have a question - you did the review of Pixel 9 only, right? not Pixel 9 Pro as you call it couple times? Also you are calling it a flagship and comparing to iphone 15 pro, so I am a little confused. Pixel flagship would be the Pro models, right? The Pixel 9 is the lowest model available.

3:17 I cannot agree more. When people compare shots taken by different phones, everyone will have a different preference because of post processing so while camera quality on the hardware is a big consideration, post processing is as good consideration to take and could be very subjective.

Not only do they update them every month which they will eventually give the camera updates, but the more photos you take the better it will get. The machine learning will just keep getting better the more photos you take. They always seem to get better and better throughout the year.

What I make most what I like from Android iOS is the back gestures I couldn't live without it. The iPhone I just can't do it. You got to go through so many steps that you don't have to do with the pixel phone. Plus you got call screening. There's so many advantages to Android and now with RCS there's really no reason to even use iPhones. In my opinion, the cameras are so good, especially on the pixel 9s that I think it's a no-brainer really phone's. Just a lot easier to use with Android. Notifications are easier to use. The whole thing is just better

As an Apple product consumer since 1983, I'm deeply integrated into the Apple ecosystem, especially with the Apple Watch, which I rely on for health reasons. Despite this, I've been tempted to pick up a Pixel for about five years now but always hesitated. With the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max on the horizon, I need to wait and see what Tim has been working on. Even so, I'm hopeful that next year's Pixel Pro might finally be the one that makes me switch. 😊

So that is a plus for me, but I’m afraid of switching because in the past when I’ve had Androids the battery usually significantly reduced after a month of usage, where the IPhone is much more gradual and even 3 years later I still get a full day on 1 single charge.
