Really hoping Android tablets get better! These past couple of years Apple devices are slowly but surely catching up to and sometimes exceeding Android in functionality and customisability.
awesome video ! the current lineup of ipads available are insane and overkill for the platform imo (my ipad pro has the same m1 chip as my laptop) so I'm confident it's going to last quite a while before I even think about wanting to upgrade also side note, not sure if you mentioned it in the video and I just missed it but performance wise the ipad pro and ipad air are nearly identical. The only difference is the pro comes with a 120hz display. That was the main reason I went with the pro but if you're fine with 60fps then the ipad air will save you a ton of $$$
thanks! you're absolutely right about the air and pro performing identically. in fact i think the 5th gen iPad Air (M1) might be the best iPad right now! (in terms of value and performance) ensekai doesn't natively support 120fps on ios, and it didn't get support until jpsekai 3rd anni update, but even as a rhythm gamer, 60fps is still very responsive on iPad.
you're definitely right with this especially considering what he said in the video abt other games not doing well with 120hz. I love my ipad air and because i'm mainly a bang dream player it works well!! (although it was announced recently bang dream will support 120hz soon..)
also for android alternatives if anyone is looking for them i recommend the xiaomi pad 6 pro/6s pro, lenovo legion y700 2023 (if you're looking for a smaller screen size), and the oneplus pad!
I agree that it's easier to play project sekai on a tablet but for the game I usually play a tablet is to big and I miss the edge notes so I play on my phone.
using an ipad for the main purpose of rhythm gaming is complete overkill, but it does offer significant advantages and lower the chance of device-caused errors (taps not registering, awful offset, etc)
But i play on PC with keyboard lol. I don't know does keyboard has bad latency or not. I can play at 240fps on english server btw, but japanese is locked at 120.
good video. I play on samsung galaxy tab s9 ultra and also play on ipad pro 13 m4. They're both works good, but sometimes proseka is crushed on my ipad so i need rejoin the game, but ingame process in ipad and in samsung tablet itself does not cause any errors and works perfectly. My opinion is, just play on what you are comfortable with and what money allows you to do.
@@biriamu I'm a digital artist and I use a 16" XPPEN when painting, so I'm already used to this large size and it wasn't hard at all for me to play on samsung s9 ultra and on ipad 13" pro. Thanks for your question!
Thanks @biriamu, like my recent comment said, I had low budget and so I bought the Ipad 9th gen for 250€ (which is a lot for a student without financial support). I can now use it solely for rhythm game like I desired. But I need to repay Lanota, and all the expansive packs I've bought past... Guess I will spend another 40€ to this
I’m not sure about android, but as a iPad m4 (8gb ram) user I can say that for any project Sekai players(jp), do take note that the game is incredibly unoptimised. Genuinely the worst experience I’ve had thus yet. Any other game, like HSR, Genshin, Arcaea, Phigros, has ran smoothly on high - max settings on 120fps without issues on my iPad and project sekai is the only game that will randomly drop itself to around 40-60 fps (no MV! Can you imagine?) and requires a restart. Heck, sometimes a restart doesn’t even fix it. So yeah just take note
Good to know! I heard the M1 models had problems with this game when that first released but now it seems to have been fixed for the most part. Hopefully it should be the same for the M4 models eventually.
I'd love to see a RedMagic Nova (Tablet) video, RedMagic is usually known for gaming, so I'd love to see a video about it's solution to the problem it may have when playing this game, also, RedMagic devices can set different Hz per game, so it just got me curious
+1 couldnt find anyone commenting about rhythm games on nova, Im between iPad m2 pro and remagic nova, mainly because of my bought games on google store and account link...
personally, i find gaming tablets to be a little too risky (for the average player). it's good that they run android and have access to the play store, but given that these gaming devices aren't really mainstream, there's no guarantee how stable the device is going to be in terms of hardware/software, and how many timely software and security updates you're going to get. if those aren't a concern, then they should be ok, but since reviews for these devices, especially for rhythm games, are extremely rare, you would be taking a bit of a gamble. in terms of raw performance and stability, i think the ipad is the way to go. i'm not really a fan of ipad outside of gaming, but once i switched, i found it a lot harder to go back to my samsung. it really is the real deal. what makes the experience good boils down to multiple factors: good touch response, smooth/consistent gameplay, and good speakers and display. i found the ipad to not lack in these regards. as much as i would love to be on android, it's hard to say with other devices without testing them, but again, that's part of the "gamble" that i'm talking about. though if i manage to get a hold of one of these gaming devices, i would love to try them out and give a more in-depth review
@biriamu oh I hear you, I gwt the risk that comes with it, I understand ur point, I don't use RedMagic outside Gaming, so if u do get a chance, that would be kool, have a good day alright, I'm going to buy the finger sleeves in a few days lol, thanks for the info.

I just discovered your video and I totally agree with iPads being the better rhythm game tablet. FYI, I've used Tab S9 for over 8 months and there's just some songs I can't pass without relying heavily on healers (Kimagure Mercy Mas), and I always thought it was my skill issue. Right after getting the iPad Pro M4, I was able to pass the song effortlessly and it turns out, the iPad actually registers flicks way easier than my Tab S9 does. Sometimes, I just have to tap and slide a little and it registers, but for the Tab S9, you really need to flick hard. I can even do some 32s without healers on the iPad but I would most definitely die if using the Tab S9. Regarding touch latency, I think they're both similar, though I have not measured the iPad yet. On the Tab S9, it takes about 40ms to respond to touch input (measured by hearing tapping sound on screen to hearing sfx on tab). another clarification is that, while it only takes 40ms for the screen to respond to your input, the game has its own delay, and the total time to respond is closer to 80-90ms. I've always said that "flicks are my bane in pjsk", but it turns out, it's because of the Tab S9 sucking at registering it. edited to give more insight on the touch latency
You're right about the flicks! I didn't cover it in the video, but I have a similar experience with my Tab S7+. Flicks feel very sluggish, but if I offset backwards it does help a lot. It's also worth noting that because Sekai on Android doesn't lock the refresh rate to 60hz like on iPads, the Android are able to keep up with the iPad (aside from flicks) in terms of touch latency. It might be another story once the iPad gets native 120hz support (upcoming in 3rd anniversary update).
@@biriamu Ohh I was wondering wdym by 60hz on iPads, since I'm playing the JP ver and both sides have 120hz support. In that case, nothing's changed. In fact, the most recent update to Unity 2022 made the Tab S9 slightly worse since it can stutter sometimes even with lite mode. I had "Show taps" enabled in developer options, and that caused massive FPS dips if you spam during gameplay, so I had to turn that off. The fps dips were the main reason I wanted to get an iPad m4, but man i didn't know it would actually improve my gameplay because it had better touch recognition as well. Also being able to play 3DMV while maintaining constant 120fps is nice, something the Tab S9 could never do.
In the settings there's this option called 滑らかさ(Smoothness) which let's you adjust between 標準(60FPS) and 高品質(120FPS). It's set to 標準 by default so if you change it you might notice a difference on the iPad. The Tab should stay largely unaffected, except for those random dips as you mentioned (I've yet to try it myself).
@@biriamu I do have that enabled for both devices, and I have been doing so since day 1. I don't think you'll be able to tell a difference if you're not on a 120hz screen, cause the dip happens from 120fps to ~100fps, which irl looks like it's stuttering, and it feels like I'm playing on 60hz refresh rate. and this is with lite mode. if you're in the sekaicord server, I've posted screenshots showing the dip before.
See, i would go for ipad bcuz these points are really nice but...no apks so uh😓😭 (I really dont want to pay for spotify premium or go to the new discord ui)
great video man ^^ is it possible if you can tell me the brand of the matte screen protector you’re using? i have one myself but im looking for a replacement soon
TYSM!! Im going to get an iPad for my bday, and i wanted to ask, if i have the option to buy the iPad that you have, should i buy it? or i should buy the other options?
i would actually recommend the 2021 M1 iPad Pro instead! the 2021 model is still very very good and honestly no one would be able to tell the difference between this and the model i have. you can save some money and splurge on extra storage :) happy early birthday btw!
as long as you don't have any problems with the games you play now, your Air 3 should be ok! (i have a 2017 iPad Pro laying around and it still works well) those are finger sleeves, they help improve touch response and makes the screen feel smoother. they are good for rhythm games 😁
they should be ok. if you're familiar with Rein ( www.youtube.com/@ReinLovesKawakaze ), he plays on a rog phone and he plays very well. he does seem to switch to ipad every once in a while though
i got a non samsung android tablet for xmas to play pjsk and it was great at first, but after a little while it started dropping most of my inputs. then it got an update that broke the entire thing, so i had to return it. luckily my birthday is after xmas and i got a refund for the damn thing, so i was able to get an ipad lol. moral of the story, get an ipad for pjsk. the cheapest one rn is the 9th gen iirc (the one i got) and it works jus fine for me. if ur on phone tho a samsung works great, ik cuz i have one help
ur video is great! ive actually been considering on getting a new ipad so whats the best model for the game to run while 3dmv is playing in the bg without the lag?
I recommend these models: 2021 M1 iPad Pro or 2021 M1 iPad Air. The 2022 M2 iPad Pro works as well but the 2021 models are the better value in my opinion.
I was gonna say something about the models you have but those models were made in the same year/time period, dang Android step up ur game Also, if you are on a budget, Android would be a lot better as the M1 chips and beyond are really overkill and therefore really expensive… and refurbished is mid. As a person with the 10th gen iPad I do see some of the issues that the Samsung devices do have, but that’s probably due to the 4 gigs of RAM it has. Other than that it can play Genshin well at medium settings and barely takes any FPS drops in HSR and Wuthering Waves at max graphics. The latter game sees slightly more though. I play Colorful stage, Arcaea, and Phigros on my ipad and have played OverRapid, Kalpa, and Cytus 2 on my ipad, and they run perfect! Only problems are that it has 60hz, base model has 64 gb, and as aforementioned it has only 4 gb ram. Edit: left a sub because this is a good video that helps you fully understand the flaws of android when playing a rhythm game. I would send this to the android sheeps that are my friends but they don’t check their discord or they have no access to the internet as of now 😔 I prefer an Android phone and an iOS tablet
I'm not sure how that one will hold up, but if your budget allows, I would recommend going up to the 9th generation. It has been on sale for a while now. At least in the US, you can get one for around $200. Black Friday is coming up soon, so do be on the lookout for potential deals.
In terms of raw power the newest M4 iPad Pros will be the best option. However another commenter mentioned here that those models are a bit unoptimized right now and lag a bit for some reason. Once those bugs are ironed out then yeah those will be the best iPads hands down. Until then it's either the M2 or M1 models.
those are finger sleeves! they help make the screen feel smoother and helps improve touch sensitivity a bit. they're not necessary, but i do love them for rhythm games!
good question! this will depend on the device you have, but at least for my device, Dolby Atmos generally doesn't interfere with games, so it's ok to leave it on. However, Samsung devices have an additional toggle that enables Dolby Atmos specifically for gaming, but I don't really hear much of a difference so I keep it off. if you wanna stay on the safe side, you can always turn it off prior to entering the game, or create a routine to have it turn off once you're in the game and back on again once you exit. hope this helps!
I have a samsung too, atmos is useful only for consuption as you said, on proseka it sounds a bit off and recently having timing issues even at 120hz but probably with the addition of the routine will help so thank you for clarification!! 🙏✨️
I played Project Sekai on my ipad but since the new update my Ipad is too old to run the game and lagged constantly causing me to not play the game ever since
This is the one that I use: a.co/d/9074PYP I find this to be a little thick though, sometimes notes don't register properly, so I would recommend a film type screen protector like this one: a.co/d/1IjehRF
I started playing Proseka on an IPad, but I switched to my phone because my IPad actually performed worse than my phone. It’s probably because it’s from 2017 and Apple is greedy, so it makes it’s older devices work worse and worse to make everyone buy their more expensive, newer, better performing devices. Should I get a new one?
The hardware is probably just struggling to handle the game. My Android phone from 2018 can barely play the game nowadays and it was a pretty capable phone back then. With that said it might be time for an upgrade soon.
Hey i watched ur video cause i wanted to buy a new device for pjsk and i bought the xiaomi pad but most of the time the taps wont register, is there any setting that makes it like that?
I've never owned a Xiaomi Pad before so I can't say for sure. Maybe see if there's a feature that increases touch sensitivity? Or else, it could be multi-finger gestures interfering with the game, check if those are turned off in the settings. Lastly make sure OS is up to date. That's all that I can think of, hopefully you were able to resolve it.
yea i played on a samsung tablet from 2020 (s6 lite??) before getting my ipad air 5 it was a HUGEGEEEEEEEEE upgrade, dont have a mac but m1 chip will last me for YEARS so im nto concerned about everr getting another tablet until it overheats and dies randomly like my old phone in 2020
what does your budget look like? if you're ok with used devices, you could potentially snag a 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro on eBay for around $300. they are still plenty capable and powerful, but do keep in mind that because they are older, the batteries might not last as long as they used to
i have played on an android for nearly two years. i have multiple lv30 master aps thanks to it, but having tried both devices extensively, ipad just gives me a better touch experience overall. of course, there are some good android players out there, and if android works for you then good for you 👍
@@biriamu For sure I can see that much! I do want to get an Ipad as doing FC lvl 32 and above is hard with thumbs. But the price is really really outside my budget... Do you have other recommendations?
What does your budget look like? If you're ok with refurbished/used iPads you could probably score a pretty good deal on a 2018 iPad Pro (~$300) or newer. 4th Gen iPad Air could be decent too. If you want a newer budget option, I've heard mixed thoughts on the iPad 9th Gen. Some people say it's good, some say it has touch problems. You could give it a shot if you're willing to try it, but I would still take a 2018 iPad Pro any day. I can't really recommend any Android tablets within that price range.

@@biriamu it was an easy 31 (showtime ruler)🎉🎉🎉🎉
that's still awesome! i don't even have it yet 😅 (like 5 greats off)
See, i would go for ipad bcuz these points are really nice but...no apks so uh😓😭 (I really dont want to pay for spotify premium or go to the new discord ui)
felt that 😅 I haven't used discord for my dms for months now
I have an iPad and sometimes it doesn’t register my taps
which model do you have? i've heard some 9th gen ipads sometimes freeze up or don't respond to taps
Just get a high touch sampling rate tablet. Also there's game mode which blocks calls and messages and every other notifications while gaming.
i'll definitely try one out if i get the chance.
great video man ^^ is it possible if you can tell me the brand of the matte screen protector you’re using? i have one myself but im looking for a replacement soon
My screen protector is from Mothca! It was around ~$15 USD on Amazon and is very easy to install.
@@biriamu tysm!! rlly appreciate it :D
My fav l/n song used as example?!😱😱😱🫵🫵
TYSM!! Im going to get an iPad for my bday, and i wanted to ask, if i have the option to buy the iPad that you have, should i buy it? or i should buy the other options?
i would actually recommend the 2021 M1 iPad Pro instead! the 2021 model is still very very good and honestly no one would be able to tell the difference between this and the model i have. you can save some money and splurge on extra storage :)
happy early birthday btw!
@@biriamu TYSM!!! i wanted to save some money, also thanks again for wishing me an early happy bday!
@@biriamuive got that one and its pretty good also all the ipads look the same
Hiii, Tysm for this viddd! I use an iPad Air 3rd gen. Will this still perform well? Also, what are the black things on your index and middle fingers??
as long as you don't have any problems with the games you play now, your Air 3 should be ok! (i have a 2017 iPad Pro laying around and it still works well)
those are finger sleeves, they help improve touch response and makes the screen feel smoother. they are good for rhythm games 😁
@@biriamu thank you so muchhh
Gaming Android phones like asus rog, Red magic or ipad?
they should be ok. if you're familiar with Rein ( www.youtube.com/@ReinLovesKawakaze ), he plays on a rog phone and he plays very well. he does seem to switch to ipad every once in a while though
i got a non samsung android tablet for xmas to play pjsk and it was great at first, but after a little while it started dropping most of my inputs. then it got an update that broke the entire thing, so i had to return it. luckily my birthday is after xmas and i got a refund for the damn thing, so i was able to get an ipad lol.
moral of the story, get an ipad for pjsk. the cheapest one rn is the 9th gen iirc (the one i got) and it works jus fine for me. if ur on phone tho a samsung works great, ik cuz i have one help
ur video is great! ive actually been considering on getting a new ipad so whats the best model for the game to run while 3dmv is playing in the bg without the lag?
I recommend these models:
2021 M1 iPad Pro or 2021 M1 iPad Air.
The 2022 M2 iPad Pro works as well but the 2021 models are the better value in my opinion.
I was gonna say something about the models you have but those models were made in the same year/time period, dang Android step up ur game
Also, if you are on a budget, Android would be a lot better as the M1 chips and beyond are really overkill and therefore really expensive… and refurbished is mid.
I would send this to the android sheeps that are my friends but they don’t check their discord or they have no access to the internet as of now 😔 I prefer an Android phone and an iOS tablet
thanks for sharing your experience!
And for people who don't have money ? Can an Ipad 8th gen be a good compromise for example ?
I'm not sure how that one will hold up, but if your budget allows, I would recommend going up to the 9th generation. It has been on sale for a while now. At least in the US, you can get one for around $200. Black Friday is coming up soon, so do be on the lookout for potential deals.
so the best ipad for pjsk (ignoring the prices) is the one ur using in the vid?? what about the newest ipad ? the m4 one that was released this year?
In terms of raw power the newest M4 iPad Pros will be the best option. However another commenter mentioned here that those models are a bit unoptimized right now and lag a bit for some reason. Once those bugs are ironed out then yeah those will be the best iPads hands down. Until then it's either the M2 or M1 models.
@@biriamu oh i see, thank you!! ur so good at explaining things 🙏🏻
what screen protector do you use for your iPad?
it's a matte glass screen protector from mothca, you can find it on amazon.
I know this is a random question, but what are the things you put on your index and middle fingers? Just wondering what their use is for.
those are finger sleeves! they help make the screen feel smoother and helps improve touch sensitivity a bit. they're not necessary, but i do love them for rhythm games!
some finger sleeves also are used to prevent your sweat to get all over your screen, which causes playing to be really uncomfortable
There a feature called do not disturb mode i use that features whatever there a random phone calls me it worked every devices
Do you think iPad Pro 10.5 is a good choice
If you play without 3DMV on then it'll be ok. I have one so I can vouch for it. Keep in mind it's not going to get anymore iOS updates though
hello!! I got caught by you mentioning software gimmicks to avoid worse audio sound like Dolby Atmos. Should I disable it?
good question! this will depend on the device you have, but at least for my device, Dolby Atmos generally doesn't interfere with games, so it's ok to leave it on.
I played Project Sekai on my ipad but since the new update my Ipad is too old to run the game and lagged constantly causing me to not play the game ever since
what model ipad is it? i find anything pre-2018 to be pushing it a little with project sekai.
@@biriamu it's the 5th gen ipad i got in 2017
even before the update the game would lag here and there but after it's just unplayable.
Do you have a recomendation for ipad screen protectors?
This is the one that I use: a.co/d/9074PYP
I find this to be a little thick though, sometimes notes don't register properly, so I would recommend a film type screen protector like this one: a.co/d/1IjehRF
Mm for me it depends about their own skill
💯
i use a 12.9 ipad pro 4th gen its perfect for me any other device is either too laggy or too small
Hi i really like your video and i have a question. Will i buy the ipad mini 6 for the rhythm game because i dont like the ipad gen 10? Why? THANKS
mini 6 can work. it's a very solid tablet all around, maybe a bit too small for me personally but it should be a good option nonetheless.
Can you make a tutorial about changing resolution in the 7:59
i'm about to make a device optimization guide soon, so i'll go over it in that video.
Okay, but what about iPhone? I don’t have an iPad or the money for one, but is Iphone still viable?
absolutely!
What do you use to record yourself playing
I use an older Samsung phone mounted on a top down phone arm 👌
@@biriamu thank youuu
Hey i watched ur video cause i wanted to buy a new device for pjsk and i bought the xiaomi pad but most of the time the taps wont register, is there any setting that makes it like that?
I've never owned a Xiaomi Pad before so I can't say for sure. Maybe see if there's a feature that increases touch sensitivity? Or else, it could be multi-finger gestures interfering with the game, check if those are turned off in the settings. Lastly make sure OS is up to date. That's all that I can think of, hopefully you were able to resolve it.
counterargument: you have to be a millionaire to afford apple products (where i live) (im not exaggerating 😭)
yea i played on a samsung tablet from 2020 (s6 lite??) before getting my ipad air 5 it was a HUGEGEEEEEEEEE upgrade, dont have a mac but m1 chip will last me for YEARS so im nto concerned about everr getting another tablet until it overheats and dies randomly like my old phone in 2020
i have enough for an ipad air but i am still not sure if its worth it for me
for rhythm games specifically i'd say it's worth it. it's also a pretty good tablet all around if you intend to use it for other purposes.
@@biriamu im gonna see if i can get a refurbished one. if they excist wehre i live
Should i get ipad air 5g or ipad 10g for rhythm games? (I'll also use it for school and other things)
5th Gen Air for sure! It's considerably more powerful than the 10th Gen iPad.
My wallet does not agree ( I can't even afford an android tablet )
whats the screen protector you use?
my ipad uses a matte glass screen protector from Mothca ( a.co/d/frzWBhu )
my samsung uses a Spigen tempered glass protector ( a.co/d/aXeykqA )
im playing on an android phone and the tap lantency is really making me fume
are there any budget ones
what does your budget look like? if you're ok with used devices, you could potentially snag a 2018 or 2020 iPad Pro on eBay for around $300. they are still plenty capable and powerful, but do keep in mind that because they are older, the batteries might not last as long as they used to
SAKI
I would if i had money
idolm@ster mentioned
would an ipad 10th gen 2022 be good?..
yep it will be good.
I play on a phone because I’m a thumb player
Eu sempre quis um ipad pra jogar jogos de ritmo, porém é muito caro 😭😭😭.
im broke🥺👉👈👉👈
😢
Yes
this is bull ****
tap latency is not a problem you're just used to your ipad i Ap on master on android with no problem
i have played on an android for nearly two years. i have multiple lv30 master aps thanks to it, but having tried both devices extensively, ipad just gives me a better touch experience overall. of course, there are some good android players out there, and if android works for you then good for you 👍
Ipad, costs shit ton of money
for sure, but they are the real deal 👌
@@biriamu Currently I am aiming for less than 250$ But maybe I can allow myself another 50$
if you're in the uk, sites like Raylo and OnBuy have new or refurbished iPads for around £30-60 just by scrolling for 2 minutes

ipads are too expensive 😥
Im too broke
