    i'm sorry to say, if you are 4.0 or below, you should be using a 110in racquet with 250g static weight. don't bother wasting money on strings either. unless you break em within 10min of play like me, you should just grab a ball of synthetic yarn from your nearby dollar store.

    For the aero Rafa, I know you like Otoro green (or maybe that was for the PA98 only?).
    How would you compare Otoro to Wasabi and to RPM rough specifically for PA Rafa? I’m playing it with hyper-g at 50# at the moment and looking to try something different - more spin, crisp response, and good feel.
    And have you tried Otoro orange yet? I’m guessing it’s a crispier response to the green based on color.

    • @TennCom

      I've never tried RPM Rough in the Rafa. I tend not to chose it personally because of the higher price. It shows up in my reviews here and there because Luca from, Rackets and Runners uses it and we will often try each others setups.
      I did not find orange to play especially different from the green. Lab tests show that it does produce more spin, though I didn't find that personally.

    Actually another option you don't mention is low tension polys. I was started to play back then Becker and Edberg are still playing. Back then no one tension under 60 or maybe i can say 65. I switched to polys after 10 years and keep tension around 55-60 for the next 10 years. As i got the idea that polys can string in even under 30 so i started to reduce tension step by step but i cost like the third ten years to get used to from 55 and finally reached 48 in this Sept. Last month i still feel 45 is sweet spot and this time i just try a set on 40 it's so amazing. it's much more forgive and i cannot see cons than 45. Losser polys are actually so different in forgiveness than higher than 48 lbs. It seems almost can do the same as a set of hybrid. I am a stringer myself so i string mine and all my friends rackets. We all getting older together (of course we play together that much years so we all almost same level), in the mean while they just use the same reel of mine which means long time ago that should be Pro Hurricane Tour and then after Babolat launched RPM blast then we all use the same reel. And they don't even care about tension because what i did to the racket they feel more than OK. Only a few not satisfied that much so i put multi to cross then they are perfectly fine. After i string all my friends rackets lower than 50, actually no one really noticed i am intensionally reduce their tension. After i reduced to 48 the last one of them still need a multi on cross, he no more need it. I am not a hater of hybrid just i don't really string set should look the same on mains and crosses. Haha. I cannot image to play a set of nylon or multi on 40 lbs but a set of poly on 40 really don't feel it's a loss set. It just performance still with tension just more forgiveness. It just give you some more friendly bonce when you flat hit. While top spin it don't feel more boncy but only make your ball going little bit deeper which also friendly.

    Not sureabout the Head Velocity MLT. I strung my son's racquet with that and it locked up just like syn gut. Maybe it's the clay court's dust, but I return to syn gut for him.
    Also, I would suggest that copying a pro setup can turn out to be a bad idea. Pros change balls and racquet every 9 games, try that as an amateur player!
    So tension maintainance is key for us mortals. I missed that in the video.
    But for a quick look at what is available on the market the video is very good. Condenses but still comprehensive.

    Great and helpful video.
    Just another alternative between hybrids and full polys, you have soft co-polys as regular Wilson revolve and for shape ones, volkl cyclone (I play the orange one but the yellow is the softest and it exists in real thin gauges).
    And of course, between poly and multis, you have the luxilon element which is simply great. Also note that lowering the tension is the way to go with polys.
    Hope you ll soon make a video on "soft sticks" for intermediates and advanced players with clash 98, custom Gravity mp, boom mp (with and without lead), prokennex, blade v7, etc... with dampening and/or flex tech (auxetic, feel flex/45, kinnetic, vdm...) And tell people to avoid racquet with a stiffness above 65 as you advice to avoid poly.
    Tennis is a sport with competition but players must take care of their body.😊

    I just came across you channel and it’s been such a live saver and I was wondering if you had some advice for me:
    I just got into tennis 6 months ago and have been playing pretty regularly with the hopes to continue improving my game as I’m getting really invested haha. I have a blade 100v9 16x19 and alu power for my strings (as that’s what some youtube research & my local tennis shop recommended). I don’t have any major issues with my set up for now but am looking to explore and try some new strings for starters to hopefully get a bit more control & spin (helping me more with top spin) primarily on my shot. Did you have any recommendations on strings for me?
    Based on your videos, I’m not someone who has yet broken their strings but I’d say as someone who has played sports all my life that power is something that came quickly to me, but I’d love a string that allows me to play at my best without capping my progression, so I’m stuck between sticking to a poly or changing to a multifilament (which my tennis shop owner didn’t recommend saying it would just reduce my abilities). Just like you mentioned in the video, a lot of my shots tend to cannon ball with more power than I’d like even as I try to work on more topspin during actual games vs in practice. Some strings I’ve narrowed it down to are head lynx tour or technifiber triax as I’m not sure if I should stick to polys or go for something like a multifilament based on this video. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Oh and a string thickness recommendation would be nice too!

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  2 месяца назад +1

      One thing that's changed a little bit since I released this video... which I need to make an update for, is the presence of slippery soft polys. These are easier to use than ALU and you get much longer lasting performance. I really like the options from Toroline for this, but even going to something like Head Lynx (not Tour) would be a lot more forgiving than ALU.

    • @Joe-em7ml
      @Joe-em7ml 2 месяца назад

      @ Thanks for getting back to me! So in that case you would recommend Head Lynx and think a poly (not a monofil) would be best for me? (given my current racket set up) Also did you by chance have a string thickness recommendation?

  • @markmoorefineart7453
    @markmoorefineart7453 6 дней назад

    I wanted your suggestion on the best Solinco poly string set up for someone who puts a premium on pocketing and feel and still wants good spin and control. I am currently playing exclusively 3.5-4.0 doubles with a Babolat Pure Aero - so a set-up that compliments that racquet string pattern and stiffness would be ideal. I am not opposed to using thinner gauge polys or poly hybrids to get the desired playability. I tend to like to play at lower tensions to open up the sweetspot and increase ball feel. I am currently bouncing back and forth between a full bed of Tour Bite Soft 18; Hyper-G 19; and Hyper-G soft 17 - all strung at 40 lbs.
    Is there another string or hybrid you think I should try? What would you personally recommend?

    I feel like dynamic tension is important to think about. We give beginners a multifilament setup because the dynamic tension, pretty much how much force it takes to move the strings, is lower. I don't have a tool to get the exact dynamic tension but I've realized stringing a poly really low solves the problems that we have from "normal" tensions.
    TL;DR
    lower level players can either do multis or poly strung really low and that solves the comfort, power and feel problems that comes with polys. just string low

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Год назад +3

      I don't think there have been any studies that have found certain correlations between spin and tension, though I feel like i can get more spin with lower tensions. It could be in my head, hard to say since i cant measure RPMs. There is some evidence that you'll get more power (ball speed) but it seems too minor. I would recommend stringing as low as you can control, so definitely recommend trying 48lbs or even lower. I think you'll like this video on tension: ruclips.net/video/1RbHBQ5sp_Q/видео.html

    Full Yonex Poly Tour Pro 18 @ 47 - Good spin and snapback, decent but not great power
    Have tried all sorts of hybrids as well with the result that it ends up just feeling the same as what the mains feel like. Crossing with a more powerful string doesn't seem to boost the power of the polys enough. Crossing with a stiffer string like syn gut still doesn't change the feel of muted strings.
    Currently the best feeling and playing setup I found was AK Pro CX 17 @ 55 mains, Rexis Comfort 16 @ 53 crosses

      @TennCom  Год назад

      If you hit pretty flat, it might not even be worth going full poly for you. Flat hitters typically benefit more from the direction control of a nylon. If you want to try it one last time, Head Hawk Power is a really enjoyable hitting experience (more nylony than other polys) and I would recommend taking a bigger risk with your tension, dropping down to 43lbs. If you want something that really combines excellent direction control with ease of snapback, Grapplesnake Tour M8 is excellent. Its not super powerful, but its designed to be strung quite low. I was able to retain control at 40lbs and I think that would work for you too.

      I have. The control and tension maintenance are both below Zero and Wasabi, though the ball bite is better than both. I'm about to string my new radical MP for the first time. I just don't know what string to pick and at what tension. I had some arm problems before (not because of tennis) picking up tennis again 2 years ago. I started with the clash v2 with multi strings. I've since then owned the yonex ezone 98 and the wilson blade 100 v8. Anyhow no problem with my arm, a little with my wrist (under cotrol for the time being). So I'm looking for some comfort. The problem with a lot of the comfort strings like multifillament, is that I get a lot of added power in comparison to most polys. My topspin isn't the best so I can't control too much power like I'd want to. What would be a good set up for the Radical MP? Some comfort but less power. I do like the feel of a string that has some bite to it. I've played some when I was younger, so I'm not a beginner. An intermediate player. Thank for all the great work!

      If you want to go for a poly, I would try something shaped at a very low tension like 40lbs. Something like Toroline Wasabi or Hyper-G Soft will give you a relatively comfortable feel and the amount of ball pocketing you'll get might help you feel the ball on the strings more to help you understand how to create spin. If you wanna stay with a flat hitter's setup, a full bed of Triax would play awesome in that racquet at 50lbs.

    I ve been an avid tennis fanatic for 20 yrs. I play at least three times a week. I love tennis. I say this because my observations are this . . You ask any 5 so called experts on the best string and you'll get 5 different answers. It's different strokes for different folks. I think strings and racquets are dependent what one feels comfortable and most confident.

    Hi, Beckett! Thanks a lot for all your videos! So much useful information!
    Currently playing with ezone 98 last gen. Love it for the dence string pattern and 320 SW. I can swing it very fast with lots of spin. Forehand just super nice! My concern is the serve. There is no feel in this racket. Kick isn't stable at all. I played Radical Mp auxetic. Serve and feel were great, volleys awesome, but 330 SW (quality control sucks) was very high for me. Can u suggest a racket wich can meet both worlds for me? (easy to swing and good feel) Thanks!

      I think you are best off finding a Rad MP that has the target 320 SW
