Just added this video to Evernote - just one essential that I discovered through you. Thank you.
Thank you for all your videos.
This is one of the best productivity videos I have ever seen!!!! Email is one of my worst crutches but the tips and techniques you shared will help me get into gear. Thank you.
This was a very useful and informative video as I have a preference for gmail over other alternatives. Thank you Steve! 😃
Cool stuff. made lots of changes and am using them.
Another amazing MUST HAVE lesson! Thank you Steve! Much love from Rome, Italy!
+Vincenzo Mario Cristi Thank You Vincenzo!
Holy cow, "canned responses" under the beta functions looks awesome!
Very informative. Thanks!
thanks. ..well done.
great video Steve. i am transferring all of my business e-mail to Gmail. good tips
Hey - where's the list of keyboard shortcuts? Love these videos, some of the best out there.
Great Video
Very useful
Thanks
I use the "filter" function on some new incoming emails and have them automatically go to the folder i created for those emails. It lessens the inbox and helps me not to miss new important emails. When my time allows I can go to their folders to view them. These"filtered" emails (subscriptions usually) will not require my response-just viewing.
Great video! TFS! One question. After you archive your email where does it go?
Thanks Steve, Great Information. By the way, how can you delete emails between a certain time period., eg between June 12 and July 7.Saverio
Thanks Steve. Cool tips. Will try to work on those. Was wondering if you could do a video on autocrat?
I have not used it. I will take a peek!
Hi Steve, thanks for these great tips again on Gmail. This morning I found out about another Gmail add-on: Sortd. It adds a layer to Gmail and makes it look like a task manager. You can sort emails to different lists and even change the subject line to a good task name. I'm not associated to them in any kind of way and I still have to look into it myself, but from what I see this is GREAT. I thought it would be something you could tell about in a new video.
Thanks, that sounds really interesting I will be sure to have a loook
So far I like what I see. I'm a bit worried though about the access they have to my emails this way. But I'm not an expert in reading these privacy policies.
Also, it takes some time to load the Gmail+Sortd screen. But if you leave it open, it works fine.
Great video, Steve. I wonder if you've heard of a Chrome extension for Gmail called "KeyRocket" which will, for any operation you perform, show you a test box with a keyboard shortcut you can use for that operation. It's a great reminder to reinforce how you can use shortcuts to speed things up.
+Mark Shampine That sounds so cool Mark, I am going to check it out!
Hi Steve. Do you know how I can indicate an email subject as important? I saw something like they put a "!" icon on the email subject. Do you know how to activate that feature or is there an extension for that?
Steve
Thanks for the video! As always, I found it very informative! One of my challenges is trying not to fill up the 15GB of gmail storage too quickly. If I used the send/archive button too often I would soon run out of room. Can you discuss alternative strategies in a future Ask Dotto Tech for dealing with wanting to save emails just in case you will need access to them some time in the future?
Thank you
Rodney
+Rodney Evans I will look into it, I am not certain what to suggest yet, but I am thinking on it!
Thanks Steve.. I know that one can have multiple email accounts in Gmail... is there a way to have different signatures available to be used for answering different accounts?? Thanks for all your help over the years..:)
+Jame Grabham Great question, I will include it in ASk DottoTech soon! And Thanks!
+Jame Grabham Thanks Steve... if you could possible touch base on using this on the Gmail app for IOS and Android as well, that would be great..:)
Hi, I find your videos very helpful. I have a problem though - I do not have the option of LABS on my setting. How can I find it please?
they have phase it out for the most part. New demo on Gmail coming this week!
thank you, i'm looking forward to it
Hi Steve have you check out the new gmail yet it is cool! Landon
Not yet rolled out to me
Great video Steve. How do you not have Conversation View turned on? That's my favorite lab feature.
+Daniel Umansky I get lost in the nested conversations. I liked the implementation in Outlook before, but not so much in Gmail. But if it works for you it is a great addition.....
+dottotech I am sorry... Not conversation view... I get lost in the nesting also! I meant Split Pane mode.
+Daniel Umansky Ah yes, split pane is a great option, but I tend to browse through email if I use it, by opening each email I am more likely to act on it and not procrastinate.
Great video, as always! Mmm... What is the difference between "Archive" and "Move to...? Thanks!
+Alexandra Tejero Move to moves a message into a folder (by assigning a label)
I guess then "Archive" is just "Get it out of the way" and that's it. Thanks"
I'm curious. You stated "Search works so well in gmail" ??? really?? Not in my exprience it doesn't - it either doesn't work at all, and I end up having to find other ways / workarounds / other email apps, to find the emails I'm looking for.. or at best it works very, very, very badly indeed.
I have seen it stated before that search works very well and never got it as my experience has ALWAYS been the extreme opposite :(
I'd wish sooo eagerly Apple's Mail only had half of the features. But I fear I'd never bring myself to switch to Gmail with all my mail correspondence…
+Michael Praschma • Texter It is a tough choice, I am glad I did, but I understand your reluctance.
Hi Steve I've a question for you regarding the gmail app for android and hopefully you might have the answer. For some reason while typing an email its also saving the email and I now have drafts on the message. Even after sending the email the draft remains there. Only happens on the android and not on iPhone. Nothing major but a bit annoying. Hopefully you might be able to help.
+Electric Avenue I think it is IMAP related....you may just need to switch it up.
bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402132
Thanks Steve I'll check that out.
Hey Steve! Please, don't archive my emails so fast! :-D
+Emeric Ernoult Sorry for demonstration purposes only!
any comment to my Comment Steve ?
+cocteaufan Nice comment.
Great video!
One thing that always bothered me when I use Gmail is that I always have trouble finding the tab where Gmail is and since I have multiple Gmail accounts it makes it even worse. A couple of weeks ago I found WMail (The missing desktop client for Gmail & Google Inbox) and I must say that it really makes things easier. thomas101.github.io/wmail/
Tip: Press ? in Gmail to see a list of keyboard shortcuts. :-)
I so agree! gmail and google plus has given me such a headache I put off going in them.....
Hey Steve - I just saw a Kiwi for Gmail promotion and checked out their site: www.kiwiforgmail.com/?Facebook&.7a
Have you played with this yet? Any thoughts on this? Always trust your opinions on everything Gmail-related.
Thanks!
+Kevin Bourke I remember looking at it and liking what I saw, but I have never done a demo, I will look more closely.
+Kevin Bourke AH now I remember my issue, I love my Chrome extensions for Gmail, Kiwi does not support them, not is does eliminate the need for some and they claim to be enabling them soon, but that to me was the issue.
+dottotech Ah,excellent, thanks! I thought it looked intriguing. Not convinced yet tho... As always, much appreciated!
