- In 1991, I was working at KLOS/Los Angeles, as producer of the Mark & Brian Show, at the top the #1 morning show in LA.
My father suffered a bad accident at the office. He was pushed, went over a partition and hit a desk... the bottom line was a spinal cord injury that left him quadriplegic for the rest of his life.
I would fly home regularly to see him. His birthday was on Nov 19, so I was going home to visit. A co-worker suggested I shoot some video -- a week in the life--to bring home for him as a gift.
So, this tape was never intended for anyone other than my dad and sisters to ever see. I thought about editing it, but that's too much work, and this is now a bit of history.
So... the video begins on Saturday, November 14, 1992 (I know the video says 93, but that's wrong--i was 1992) in the KLOS production room as I'm editing together a best of show to run on the following Wed morning, as we're headed to Vegas after the show on Monday for a live broadcast Tues am and an event Tuesday night.
We see the beach near where I lived at the time, went to Vegas, came back to the radio station and then to my apartment. Featured in cameos lots of people including Mark & Brian, GM Bill Sommers, Rita Wilde, Bob Coburn, Geno Michellini, Chuck Moshontz, Arlo Hultz, Rhonda Cherney, Laurie Nickoloff, CW West, Steven G. Smith, Carey Curelop,Robert "The Lucky Butt" Duggins, a ton of rock stars in Vegas (Jon Anderson, Todd Rundgren, Scott Page, Edgar Winter, Graham Nash, Alan Parsons, Producer Bob Ezrin.....) and lots more.
Thirty years ago ... just wow.
OMG! This is GOLD! For so many reasons! First of all I am a single dad whose daughter is now grown up and at her first job away from town. If it was my birthday I would want her to make a tape just like this! That is wonderful that you did it for him and I bet that he loved it! Secondly, so many questions! What was Brian smoking in the studio? Bob Coburn looked great! And sales scum Arlo was hysterical! So many awesome things to see in that tape! Thank you so very much for sharing this with the fans who have been around since they one, like myself! I really appreciate you sharing this and I could see all of the love that you put into it! Great job! And thank you again! Share some more!
Wow... lots of memories in that building.
Thanks for your video.. Nizhoni..it means pretty.
In my Navajo language.🎶🎵👍🤠
Hi Nicole, I can’t really thoroughly express how much I enjoyed this video. I’m about to turn 64 and I am disabled and this video took me back to when I was 32 and the best years of my life. I listened to M&B 5 days a week every week until I left California in 2000. I feel very melancholy most of the time for the past and for a few moments, my heart went back to the happier days of my youth. Thank you for sharing this personal view of your life. I wish someone would invent a time machine so I could go back and live these memories again. I’m so sorry about what happened to your Dad. May the memory of the times shared with him bring you comfort.
Robert 'Lucky Butt' D., Douglass 'Sluggo' Vorhies, Nurse Susan, Switchboard, Security Guard Roger..... I worked the Switchboard for 5 years '88 thru '92 Wednesdays last hour of M&B, first 3 hours of Bob Coburn. I remember working live remotes out of Sluggo or Lucky Butts trucks, the first Christmas Show & Drive-In shows. '89 I organized the KLOS listener private concert by the band 'Giant' on A&M Records. 'Giant' asked me to go on tour with them '89-'90. Fun times. Loads of memories. I still have most of the M&B give-away gifts, my ABC security badge, and Switchboarder badge.
What a treat to see this! I absolutely loved it from start to finish. Thank you so much for sharing ❤
Wow! This is absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing and making this public Nicole! There is so much history in this it’s like a time capsule. So wonderful to hear your voice again and see you working with Mark and Brian, Rita, Chuck, Arlo, Bob Coburn! Wonderful.
Thank you so much for posting this! Wow great memories of the show and nice to put faces to the voices.
what a great video! thank you for sharing. LOVE IT! 30 years ago!! that sounds crazy! miss those days.
Nicole Thanks for all you've done over the years . The awesome job at KLOS and the work With Mark and Brian. You have done so much for us fans. You're a beautiful soul and a true giver. Thanks so much. PS I'm a fan of yours even though I'm now in Ohio.
Hey Nicole, Fantastic video and the 90s were great weren't they and it seems just like yesterday. And remember we're're not getting older, we're getting better, like a fine wine.
Mullets and low-quality video cameras, you just gotta love the 90s.
This was just awesome and beautiful and a wonderful remembrance of a time past. “The old building” down LaCienega. Not the “Hoody-hood”, but bordering. Always drove down and got stickers from the front desk. You could just walk in!! 😊 Great times. We didn’t know how good we had it.
Wow... that was a trip down memory lane, Nicole.
I was such a huge listener, back in the day.
I made it to Bossy Bingo, once, and I made it to where the Elvis Float head was held, right before the big rig took off for Graceland.
That plastic sheeting on it couldn't have lasted long, as it looked like it was going to tear off at frwy speeds.
I know, as I drove beside it, for a mile or so.
As an Ex Operations Manager of a Broadcast radio station this video brings back Memories 🙂 . I'm old now and living in a van in Arizona. Far belated Happy birthday to your late dad. Thanks for posting this video 👍
I just wanted to tell you that although I'm watching this again for the second time, I'm really touched by your humanity Nicole. You're a beautiful butterfly and I'm glad that you came into my life, albeit virtually. Sharing this was amazing💚👍
Thank you for sharing this! Absolutely epic! Cheers
THIS WAS GREAT!! I loved every second!
How did I never see this??
I loved going through all that cool stuff in your office!
There were always gems in boxes and envelopes- loved every second
What a great way to share your day to day life with your dad; i'm sure he was so appreciative! I started in the new building so it was cool to see the old building that i only heard of... Rosemary is my roommate so i just showed her; too! Good times at KLOS for sure!
Rosemary is in there I think. Please say hi to her for me!
yes she is .. she was like that's me! i will tell her.

Thanks Nicole! Always nice to peek behind the curtain a little.
Such a slice of history! Thank you so much for posting! Very cool!
Omg Nicole, I remember that show with Glen Frey! R.I.P. Glen and your dear dad ❤️ seeing this made my cry, so many memories came flooding in. The glory days of radio was in full swing, can see all the carts and reel to reel tapes lol, I remember when I visited the La Cienega building and interviewed M&B in Dec. ‘96 (for an assignment at the broadcasting school I was going to at the time), after chatting with them in the studio after the show, I played demos from my air checks, we went outside for pictures, and Brian told me to go into Bill Summers’ office and ask for a job, I was too nervous to do that (in hindsight I wish I DID 😩😩. Thanks for posting this wonderful video
Glad you enjoyed it, but that wasn't me you met at anything to do with Mark's book. Mark and I no longer talk. He opted to leave my contributions to their success completely out of his book as if I didn't exist. Not cool at all. So.. memories are tainted and no, I did not celebrate his book or anything else with him, nor will I again.
So cool! Thanks for sharing!!
Holy Cow! Thank you for sharing this, Nicole!
An absolute gem. Thanks for sharing Nicole, good luck on your move.
So cool to see rock royalty in Vegas, yourself included! Thanks for sharing this! ❤
Mahalo for sharing, Nicole. 😊
So grateful for this! I knew that old studio was tiny but boy howdy! What a time to be in LA, huh Nicole? Super stuff and thanks so much for posting it. It's a real snapshot of LA radio ❤
Hey Nicole! What a walk down memory lane. I am honored to make the cut. I was also wandering through my youtube channel yesterday and enjoying some wonderful memories. I had so much fun at KLOS. Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to take on responsibilities during such a pivotal time for you and the guys. Hope you are healthy, happy, and well in all you are doing and experiencing!
Tina! So nice to see you. That was a pretty wild time, huh? Where are you now? What are you doing? If you want, email me nicole at nicolesandler.com.
Greetings Nichole, such a pleasure seeing your channel.
I remember 1987, The morning M&B INTRODUCED THEMSELVES… and the rest is History, just like this amazing footage… take care of THIS 👍♥️🎶.
Good to see you( I remember you well).
Whispering during the Glen Fry segment is hysterical!
That is not what I thought Bob Coburn looked like…radio , hahaha!
Hi Nicole. This made me smile. Think I was there with Glenn. ❤. What a lovely walk back into the 90’s. I remember that apartment too.
Isn't that wild Gina?!? 30 years... That apartment was great...
I wish I had video 📹, or a decent album of photographs from 1989, like July 4th when I earned my first six college credits pre-FIU while visiting Haifa 🇮🇱.
Amazing to think that the "OLD" building has been gone for 30 years, and the NEW building gone for 8!
I'm not looking up M&B videos very much anymore. We move on. With many of the videos that were once online but now deleted/removed/disappeared from RUclips, and long gone websites like the Electronic Funzone, it's still pretty cool to stumble on videos like yours from so long ago that have never been seen of M&B and the entire crew.
I still have a video I took in the 90's of the football punishments when Frank walked on hot coals, Rita was dunked in a jalapeno filled dunk tank and Anthony was tied to a chair and was given a lap dance by a male admirer. I've never put it online.
great memories for we oldie goldie radio talents of the sixties and seventies that never made it to NYC or La but this was great and we all lived this on some level and OMG was she a cutie or what glad we got to see this what a nice gift for a loving dad
Thank you so much for sharing Nicole
The old KLOS bunker.
Love your hair here. 😉
You're so sweet!
Look at all those Cassette tapes! Wow
Not cassettes. They're called carts... most of the carts have commercials on them, though some have songs. They're like the old 8-track tapes, though each one contains one element -- a commercial, sweeper or song. It plays through and cues up to the beginning again. Now it's all on the computer, but back then we worked without computers
🎵NICOLE!
The first two things that caught my eye. Tape and not digital and seeing her office desk with no computer on it
@@300gjw the first group of PCs was delivered on my last day at the station... 30 years ago, right around now! End of June 1994
Gee your office is cleaner than mine :) (and I have airchecks too)
Wow! A blast! To see the faces of the voices. Get a glimpse of your life then. Clearly a lot of work. Not glamorous. Do you ever miss it? Do you ever keep in touch with Rita Wilde or Chuck Moschantz? For example.
Moving is painful, yet you’re unearthing and sharing gems. Amazing. Good luck with the move. I can’t always listen, but I try when I can.
Be well, healthy and safe. I’m San Francisco. That was me asking about Kevin Gilbert. Sorry. Don’t mean to intrude.
I talk to Rita... Thanks Chris
NI - COLE !!!!!
LOL! You typed the sound byte jingle right out of my mouth! 😄
I don't understand the response to @g60runner? Seems like a response to a different comment. Cool video, though. Brings back memories. Sorry you and Mark don't talk anymore.
A Glen Fry a brother Detroiter.
Cleaning up for packing, “A” finding old stuff ?Moving is always a pain when you’ve been there for a long time. AZ will probably work out for you.. Stay in a moving mode. Climate will keep us in transit.
8:51 pretty embarrassing
