It’s hard for Americans to understand- especially when you live somewhere like LA or NYC - but Brian Johnson is what most Geordies are like. Down to earth, super friendly, no bs, no talking down to people. Salt of the earth.
They are not Spinal Tap rockers. They are hard core musicians who totally love it and live it and don't let the sex drugs and rock and roll get in their way. Solid guys.
That beret is what got me into rock music in the late 70s early 80s. My uncle Dino loved AC/DC and had one that he always wore. He called it his magic hat. I was about 8 or so when he put his hat on my head and turned on Highway to Hell. The magic hit me. My uncle passed away shortly after I joined the military. I jammed Highway to Hell on every mission i went on in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Instead of a beret, I was wearing my Kevlar. But that magic was still there. You fucking rock brother.
