Awesome video! I made a cedar bench in very similar fashion not too long ago and so in love with how simple and beautiful furniture joint like this is. I did learn a tough lesson, my wedges were not In line with the grain, so I split my piece! I fixed it with long timber screws but lesson learned!
I'm a little jealous of the tools, very jealous of the skills, totally respect the love in this video and congratulations man!! He/she will be the best thing you ever made, I'm sure of it 👍
The bench work was amazing, producing a very nice result. However, the husband/wife/child connection at the end exceeded anything associated with the milling, hole drilling, hickory legs, finishing ... Relationships are far more important than great woodworking skills.
How incredibly romantic! It was great to see the red oak turn into something wonderful like that beautiful bench. But then to see you an your (very) pregnant wife sit on it, in the woods...yeah. Total rewarding moment.
Fall Line Ridge wow that red oak quarter sawn slab beautiful wood grain. You made really nice bench out of it nice work . Congrats on the new addition.Very nice video music and all loved it.Thanks all be blessed.
Making the bench was very interesting... and I loved your attention to detail in how you handled that part of this project... Made me smile... But the end of the video... Oh my Lord... that was more than beautiful... that made me cry...
Looks like you are doing what you love to do. I remember when I got my woodmizer lt40 back in 93 couldn't stay out of the woods or out of the shop. Enjoy every day.
Nice job on the bench. Even better when you put the rose on it. Loved even more when you and your wife enjoyed it together with the rose. Any how awesome job. Keep up the good work
Sweet project. Red oak is beautiful as furniture. Shame it hates water. Cut loads of my property a few years ago, now neighbors are thanking me for leaving stumps. Turns out mushrooms love red oak stumps, especially wet autumn we had in Pa.
Love the video. i do epoxy tables. Great job man. Good to see you so sweet to your wife, genuine product of good parenting from your folks! A pat on the back for being such a fine man good sir
I don't know where your channel has been hiding but I loved it, begining to end. Building furniture like this is a continuing learning experience defined only by your own personal creativity. I've been doing similar things for a while and yet enjoyed watching the subtle differences you applied while tackling common obstacles. One minor tip, put a saw cut in the leg tenon before driving it home, making sure, of course, that the wedge goes 90° to the grain so it won't split and force you to add another bowtie. : ) You've earned another subscriber!
It looks like congrats are in order for the newest addition to the family. If you have made that announcement before I missed it. Great work on that bench. I can’t wait to try to make one. Wait, I don’t have any woodworking skills. Well that’s what RUclips is for isn’t?
I like how in the US (or pretty well anywhere other than Australia) you just shift a sheet of iron without a care in the world not having to worry about what's going to slither out and kill you! Edit: And of course the curious cat puts in an appearance at the end!
Thanks for another informative and interesting video. I've noticed a continuing improvement in the quality of your videos; clarity, color, continuity, camera angle, and editing. Kudos to your camera person/editor. Excellent work.
i like the way you laid it on the mill to level the legs . I've been planning to use a couple thick slabs to make benches from in the near future and that's definitely a trick i will be using .
Very smart idea on leveling the bench top and the legs with the sawmill. Very nice build.
Watching you do this properly with hand tools makes me nostalgic.
Very good work. Your wife must be proud.
