I gotta tell you, everything about this video screamed "Everyday person just out making stuff and doing something nice for people." Plus the doggy update. Priceless. Glad I watched. Thanks so much! 😇
Thank you, Joanie. I ended up buying a cheap set of wood carving tools and every day after school, both on my kids wanted to go straight out to my freezing shop and make wood chips. My uncle was an amazing wood carver. Maybe it’s in my kids too?😬
My nine inch band saw had the same problem and for the life of me I could not find the name of them after a few choice words I found out there name they are called band saw tire's and available on Amazon, good to see you back and a few lbs.lighter I see nice✌️ Napa California
Rugged Benches, they'll last a hundred years or more. Words of encouragement in Dad's Woodshop. Your son will carry those memories with him his entire life. I can still remember the smell of the wood shavings in my Grandfather's Woodshop. Keep up the great work Brother.
sure doesn't take long to fill a shop,I see you have a nice 30' office taking up room in the back, my cast saw top came back to better than new with some much used elbow grease ,great to see you and your kids staring to do things in the family work area, nice bench ,thanks again 🇨🇦
It sure doesn’t! The “office” is actually 44.5’ and is a real space hog😬. It’s currently sitting on a friend’s property in central Oregon for a few weeks so I’m hoping to get some major interior work done while it’s out.
Nice benches! I built several cedar benches and gave them away to people who needed one through my church. Can't beat the feeling of doing something for others that they really like!
Bloopers or no bloopers, you are fun to watch. I like your enthusiasm especially in doing something, Not only you are showing your tough side (big macho dude) but also your soft side (love for your dad, appreciating his tools, doing benches for the school). Man, you are a gentle giant and you are a modern day hero. Much appreciation to you from someone in New York City.
Wow, David! Thank you for the kind words. A hero I am not but I try to be a good human. I do appreciate my dad’s tools and hope one day my son will too. Cheers to you on the other side of the country!
Nice benches, Jason. There you go again - doing something for someone else (neighbor, boss, and now the school). I'm sure it was much appreciated. It's great that you have an apprentice interested in woodworking. Bill
You have already done 'em, but in the future, you should knock down those sharp cut edges with a rasp and #60 paper. Cut edges on Cedar chip and split readily. Feels better on the hands. Very nice though
Thank you. I actually used a belt sander on the edges. They school employee that’s finishing them told me not to bother sanding them because he was going to do it. He just needed help getting them built. I got a very nice thank you card from the school.
Im a huge grizzy fan!! Ive loved watching you the past couple days! I've left your channel on in the house when i went to the shop and vice versa! So watch time is probably gone up quite a bit! Lol! I was injured and waiting for surgery so i have time on my hands! Lol!
Whoa! I almost didn't recognize you. Maybe the router would have been "cleaner", lol! Loved the face as it all came tumbling down. Don't worry, we're all OK. 👍Nice build!
Thank you for showing that everything is not perfect in RUclips land. Can't wait to start sawing some cedar to make similar benches(waiting on Woodmizer LT15).
If you use a tapered plug it will fit the hole tight. Then you can pop the excess off with a chisel. If you cut a small arch on the sides it will help it to sit without rocking. Most floors are not flat and this will help keep it from rocking on different floors
Neat video. The green tools are pretty good, lots of them in my shop. you can get all the tune up parts for the bandsaw at Grizzly as well as other places. To setup a band saw check out Alex Snodgrass he has a really good video. You are gonna have so much fun in your new shop.
I was thinking 16" was to low as i'm a tall guy & i can't set with my knees higher then my hips i'd rather had mine at 22" so my arthritis would not start kicking my hips ! But there looking great even without the sealer or shimed up !
At least we were still working after our fall Jason, think we need a more sturdy work bench made in the future what do you reckon? They look great shame I'm in NZ would have grabbed a couple for the veranda.
Heck, it's getting so now, that not only am I looking forward to your projects Jason, but I'm also expecting to see the 'calamities' too. Is this the way it's supposed to run? LOL. Great benches, being cedar, they should last a while outside, shouldn't they?
Thank you as always, Reg! There never seems to be a shortage of calamities 🤣. The cedar should last a while but there’s already signs of rot in this wood. Time will tell.
JASON, Guess the weather is warming up, Beard trim looks good !! Got a few tips that may help you out some. 1, I clean my cast iron tables with WD-40 n' # 0000 steel wool(or #00 if really bad) then Johnson Paste wax (helps with humidity issues) keeps the rust at bay. 2...I Replaced my bandsaw belts with Urethane belts, (they don't dry out) 3. ..You need a bigger shop for all of Dad's tools! Lol Good stuff!!
Just over 4 years ago already. I’ve been trying to get a shop built so I could have a place for all of his tools. He had everything a woodworker could want.
Good thing your perfect.no bloopers,no pooper scoupers n measurements are all perfect unless you talk about it.ha ha none of us are perfect buddy. Have a great day n it's good to see ya again.
You need to break that habit of putting your free hand on the back of or behind that circular saw. If the blade binds for any reason that saw will run over your hand or up your arm before you can blink.
Your Daddy has some nice Tools. You'll enjoy for many years. 👍🇺🇸
He sure does
Greg from northern Michigan. Measured 8.5 on the Richter Scale ! Forgot to yell "Timber" ! Great channel and content
Thank you, Greg!
The underside of the trailer looks clean....Told you those pencils would come in handy
It’s nice to have 200 pencils. I don’t even realize I lost the pencil I was using because I pick up a different one without even noticing.
Nice wheels and tires on your trailer!! Blue is a great color!
😂 I had to go back and look. I thought “blue?” The sky must’ve been reflecting off of the tire shine.
Just noticed the trim. Looking good..... stately!
Thank you, John!

Thank you! Two of those benches raise $1,000 for my kid’s school!

Thank you, Richard. It’s very rewarding as well.
YaHoey, he’s back! Outstanding job on the benches, thanks Jason for also showing all the mistakes, or bloopers. 👍👍👍👍👍

Looking good, Jason! Bombproof for sure. Good luck with the dog gifts in the yard.

Great looking benches. Great seeing you again. Thank you for sharing. Great out takes. God Bless.

I think the benches came out great!
Also, dad has great taste in shop tools 😁
For a out door finish i use 40 % percent Linceedcoil and 60 % Man of war varnish add a stain if you like .
I think they are using a varathane.
Wow. Good work.

Well done.

Good video, do you treat the wood with any type of teak oil or polyurethane since they are always outdoors?
Thank you! The seating surfaces were coated with a polyurethane, I believe. The rest was left to weather.
