hi man, thanks for uploading this concise video. I've been playing with jamstix for a long time and love it but lots to learn still. When I start to get a groove going initially, ie. style, drummer, kit...why when I go to start building the parts in the in the song builder do I have to re-enter all that info? I could be missing something simple. Would love to see your take on building a basic track from scratch, and building from an imported (or programmed midi clip)
Great info. Just bought this a few days ago. Confusing how there are multiple areas ( it seems) for loading styles, drummer & kits? Is there a randomize button for anything? Also can you turn on midi so Logic can record the midi output? I did find drag n drop midi. Thanks!
It's s bit confusing, keep messing with it. I'll make a new vid on it eventually.
Apparently the free version is for PC only not Mac. Also looks like the software hasn’t been updated in years. Does anyone know if it’s abandoned. It still very expensive for such old code. I can only imagine how cool it would be if they kept it current

Excellent video which, given the depth and potential complexity offered by this software, provided a great job in outlining the salient features that would be of interest to DAW users. I'd love to see a more in-depth tutorial about how to import a MIDI drum pattern into Jamstix as my results are 'varied'
Thank you for the feedback. It's in the cue of videos to make. When I get to that point on a new production that needs "live" drums I'll do a new Jamstix video for you.

Hello! I'm very interested in jamstix as a drummer for live performance. I was considering a Beat buddy for this reason. Is it possible to trigger different song sections, fills, etc. on the fly with a midi controller or does it need to be pre programmed in the session? Thanks for making this video. There are not enough videos on Jamstix, and yours is the only one focused on live mode.
Don't think it's set up for that workflow. Although with MIDI almost anything is possible. Might need to consult the manual or the forums for this one 🤔
Actually, if you look at the song structure at the left (generated with the wizard), in the last column it reads TRIG. That means this individual section of the song can be triggered via MIDI if you want. You can go to the Rayzoon forum to ask other things if you want. There are people there who would very glad to help with all kind of questions.
Don’t know how late to this program party I am. I do wanna know as a guitarist I find hard to come up with riffs or building off a riff I wrote how good if you have tried it is the metal pack and if I wanted to do a whole demo song with no idea into programming drums would you recommend this?
Totally. As an alternative workflow take a look at ujams drummer as well. It has a full version trial period

Helpful Video - thank you. I am trying to Select looping Song Parts with Trg Assignments but it's not working. The Midi Note "flashes" in Jamstix but the Song Part does not change. Is there some setting I need to look for?

@@GetSongsDone Thanks for Writing! If you mean "Midi Jam" then Yes I am. It seems to be working now that I have shorten the repeats to 1 with Loop Mode On. The problem I now have is it resets to part 1 with every START - which makes sense. I was hoping to use each Part as a pattern for a different selected song from the Host App Gig Performer. Not gonna work. Is there a way to load songs with midi commands?
@@3DNurbz i apologize, but this is all above my pay grade. Been away from this plugin for awhile, but will probably come back to it soon. I hope you figure it out/ find a work around
Is there a MIDI out option to trigger external drum VSTs?

am I going crazy or are fills gimped/disabled in the free version?? I see them trigger on the UI, but no MIDI goes out on many hits (I even recorded them to verify it wasn't a mapping issue)
It's been buggy. I'm hopelessly waiting for the ARM Mac version now...

@@Emily_M81 it's really sad the developer isn't showing up. the algorithms were pretty unique for accepting user input and then creating realistic drum tracks
Do they include the AI Pak for free now? i thought it was a paid add on...
i used Jamstix a bunch years ago.
I think there are different pricing tiers and some include the packs.
Is there a Mac version? Looks great! Website is a little confusing.

Hey man this might sound like a silly question but how do you actually record the drums to a track on studio one
create new tracks and select the instrument outputs as the input... Or just right click the instrument track and tap Transform to Audio

In Studio One, just press the Caps Lock button
also make sure you are in Midi playback mode in Jamstix (top left corner)

@@PaulEvansRahal Awesome thanx. Laughed a bit at seeing Simon Philips listed as drummer for Toto (i know that is true). I always think of him on 801 and Jeff Beck but he wasn't a member of either.
this software is so weird the installer looks all janky like it's about to install malware or something. kinda wanted to mess around with their virtual drummer but idk this seems sus
Its a bit dated, but I've used the drums as a replacement for an acoustic kit in several tracks.
I give Jamstix 4 a try and it waste 1 hour of my life. Unusable UI and an animated drumkit that slowing down the CPU without any sense etc. Unbelievable that anybody is using this in 2022. It looks like shareware from 1990 with an completely chaotic interface. I will try RealiDrums next. Maybe this works better.
For good simple drums try ujam products.
@@GetSongsDone I did buy EZdrummer 3. Here I can also change the amount on each drum in a groove etc. And the realism is really unbelievable. UI/UX ist perfect.
A whole hour? Definitely stay away from the piano... It is a complex and sometime unwieldly beast...
@@crysstoll1191 a beast that looks like shareware from 1997. The UX is so stupid, unbelievable that anybody is using this in 2022 😆 it needs only 1 minute to know that. But fairly I gave it a whole hour of my lifetime. But the uninstaller worked perfect 👌
@@ppayne7490 workin well for me but i use the midi out not the built in sample. most ppl who don't like Jamstix like EZ drummer. unfortunately BFD is gone...
