    Hi
    My garage when regasing did add some fluorescent to gas and checked around ac components for leaks with uv light and some yellow glasses. Guy said that usually condenser gets hit with a stone, and that's usually the fault. Thank you for nice video, although I got rid of my alfa romeo.

    I have an interesting problem. After one or two hour drive in hot conditions in my Giulietta, the air coming from vents is still cold but it's blowing much weaker. Turning the knobs doesn't help, as at the maximum level it blows at about 25% of normal strength. Could it be the fautly blower which overheats after some time. Some people suggest that the evaporator is freezing, but what has it got to do with weak air volume? Any suggestions?

      I’d look to get any error codes read. It may report some errors on the heater matrix unit. It’s a common problem on these cars unfortunately. Hope that helps. All the best 👍

    My Giulietta has had a strange air conditioning issue for a long time. There was a period when the air conditioning was performing poorly. Sometimes it would blow cold air, and then later during a drive, you would notice that the cold air from the air conditioning would stop. The garage then added a tracer to the air conditioning system. After this check, stone damage to the condenser was found. The condenser was subsequently replaced.
    Unfortunately, I still have the same problem. Sometimes the air conditioning works very well (hours of cold air), sometimes it doesn't work at all. Sometimes I also have drives where the air conditioning works for a few seconds and then stops again (and you can also smell evaporated moisture). There is no specific situation that can be traced back to. The compressor seems to simply cut out and work at random times. Sometimes I have days when the air conditioning works, sometimes days when it doesn't, and sometimes days with just a few seconds. I have no idea what the cause of this could be. I'm tired of going to the garage every time without them making the right diagnosis. Hopefully you have an idea? Thanks in advance!

      Sounds like you’ve done some good diagnostics so far. The only thing that I could offer is the knowledge that many people suffer with failed heater matrix’s where only cold comes out one side and vice versa. Could potentially be something like that. Try changing the heat direction with it running and see if you get a confirmed change. All the best 👍

    On my AR 159 2.4 jtdm.
    Cold air doesn't kick in until I drive it on high revs. And then its blowing cold for a while (30 mins) and then blows only ambient temp air again what do you reckon is the problem?

    The aircon doesn’t work on my Giulietta 2010 anymore. I’ve taken it to a garage, they tried regassing it but it still doesn’t work and they told me I need to change the compressor (around £600 including parts and labour).
    I’ve just had a look at that wheel that is only supposed to be spinning when the AC is on. My is always spinning, whether I have the AC off or on. Does this sound normal? Here’s a video

      If they are reputable then they should add die so they can identify any leaks with a UV mask. Then you’ll know for sure. Sounds like the clutch may have ceased though. All the best 👍

      @@vialettotony I checked and there is no continuity between ground and the output pin of the relay; I think the electromagnet coil is broken

    Interesting and informative, my ac on my Gulietta stopped working, so had it regassed, no joy so have been told it might need a new ac compressor, £400 just for the part, then labour, over £600 , does that sound right ? My Alfa is a 2016 plate and only just turned 50k mileage 🤷🏽

      Hi. You could check with a multimeter if your compressor is receiving 12v when you turn the aircon on. If it is and it doesn’t start to spin, then it certainly could be that. My bet would be that it isn’t receiving 12v because something else is preventing the relay kicking in. Might be worth getting any fault codes read to see if anything comes up. Hope that helps.       @@vialettotony appreciate the reply Tony, it’s booked in the garage next Friday to get the ac looked at and diagnosed properly. I’m not sure I’d know how to use a multimeter to test it, nor do I have one 🤣. I just hope it doesn’t cost £100’s of cash to put right 🤷🏽

    Tony another great Video thank you. I already had a reasonable idea of how it all worked but as usual learnt lots from your Video and explanation. My son has a 1.4 Giulietta (Not the multi air 170hp one but the 125 hp one). His AC wasn’t working, the garage has replaced the condenser and re-gassed the system. It now works but like yours doesn’t feel super cold coming out, however when you put the AC on auto it gets the car plenty cold enough inside. So bit of an odd one.

      Identify where it’s coming from first. It may be the compressor. Once you know where it’s coming from, then you can look to maybe WD40 something or look deeper. Hope that helps. All the best 👍

    Hey mate haven’t finished watching your vid yet.
    The radiator fan doesn’t turn on when I turn on my AC.
    Additionally idk if this is relevant but the external temperature sensor located on the rear view mirror is faulty and not reporting any temp. Would this be the issue.

      Hi Matthew. Thanks for your positive feedback. Really appreciate it. Yes, your external temp sensor will impact the operation of the aircon as I understand it. By all accounts this needs to be within a certain range to allow it to kick in. Mine works okay, so never been able to test it 100%, but it’s pretty much a given. Hope that helps.       Hi Mak. No, I ended up using the same pen. I took the wheel off, scrubbed it clean and then persevered. To be completely honest I had it in the living room on the carpet in front of me while watching TV with the Mrs. 😂. I still have to do the other side 😉. Thanks for watching. All the best 👍

    Hi Tony, or Vialetto :-) Thanks for all the great videos you have made for the Giulietta!
    Have you done a thermostat replacement, or thermostat diagnostic? There are few videos on RUclips for the thermostat but not for the Giulietta and I am sure many will appreciate to learn how to locate, check if it works properly or not and to see if replacing it is a feasible DIY job. If you do not need to replace your thermostat just sharing how to check if the thermostat is doing its job properly will be valuable for many. I am sure many of us with Giuliettas had some issues a month ago during the sub zero temperatures in UK and would like to know do we need to book for a replacement or not.

    Thanks for a very informative, concise and well pitched video for beginners like me. I’m reluctant to use my AC as I’ve not used in years and afraid there maybe a buildup of bacteria, what’s the best method or product recommendation to clear this?

      Hi Mak. You should definitely make sure your cabin filter has been changed. It may not be an issue at all if you use your fan regularly. Try running the air con with the windows open and see if you get a bad smell. If not then all good. If you do, there’s some simple sprays on the market, and even applying some anti bacterial spray to the vents can help. I’ll see about pulling a video together. Thanks for watching. All the best 👍

    Where are the common leaks??
    I tried to have mine filled and it shot out somewhere. No charge from garage as it was instant.
    Is there any easy to check places??
    Additional info.. I've had head gasket, water pump and coolant line to turbo replaced. Would any of theses be connected to air con leak?
    Brought a car with a few major issues that where covered up with a flush and sealer! Had 3 months perfect before, it was a smoke machine and drank 2 litre of coolant every 10 miles..
    There's another issue, judder/bumpy at 1.5 to 2k rpm.. above that range perfect. 1.4tb engine. Suppose these are minor issues.

      Hi Adrian. Thanks for your message. There’s a lot of info there, so I’ll try and answer as much as I can. Thank you for your support firstly. Really appreciate it.
      Regarding the aircon, there’s no real common points to check, but based on the work to the water pump etc, there could be a small possibility that the lines around the compressor could have been damaged or become loose. As it’s meant to be a sealed system, it would be worth paying an aircon diagnostic company to fault find it. You should be looking for one that uses a UV dye as this will expose exactly where any leaks are very quickly.
      With regards to the loss of coolant, these cars are known for hairline cracks in the expansion tank, as well as leaks from the EGR cooler where the housing cracks. This is located almost directly below the vacuum pump to the gearbox end of the engine. If you get a torch down there while someone revs the engine you may see something. Look for evidence of water leaks there too, as it may be obvious.
      Regarding the juddering, the multiair units are known to be an issue too. I can’t comment too much on that though as I’ve not experienced it personally. A bit of research may help. Other things to make sure of is that things like your MAP and MAF sensors are clean and also when were the spark plugs last changed.

    Hi Tony, sometimes AC brings cold air sometimes warm air. The feeling is that it's not kicking in as expected. What do you suggest? Im confused between Ac pressure switch or compressor valve. Not a regassing issue.

      Difficult to say for definite. Could be worth getting any fault codes read to see if anything comes up. Also, the G’s are known for having a failing fan coil and resistor unit, so try diverting the flow and temp with the dials to make sure it follows what you’re asking it to do with and without aircon on.     Mine: new compressor, new tx valve, new gas. Doesn’t blow cold enough, left side is warm. So I suspect issue is behind the dash? What do you think? Had no joy with local experts … great explainer video! Helps me think issue is inside.

      Hi Dean. Unfortunately the G’s have a common problem with the heater matrix where they don’t switch between temperatures according to where you set the controls. Sounds like you may be suffering from that. Unfortunately it’s quite a job to replace them as substantial amounts of the dashboard need to come out. Not the most positive of answers I’m afraid.     As always very informative, I thought you were about help solve my issue with respect to my air con. I have had it re gassed recently but am getting hot air on the drivers side and cool air on the passenger side, what would the maestro suggest.

      Hi Richard. Sounds like you’re suffering from the all too common Giulietta fan blower mixer problem. The rods and mixer paddles break and stop working and you end up with what you’re experiencing. It’s a tough job to fix as it requires much of the dashboard to come out 😬.       Hi Raymond. Yes, it’s something I’m planning to do soon as one of my headlights is starting to go. I think I mentioned it in the ceramic coating video. It’s surprising how fast the top layer deteriorates once it starts going.

    Hiya Tony, Ive a noise coming from around the dashboard of my Guilietta. I've been told it may be a motor flap trying to get to a home position but is stuck, possibly from debris. I can hear this noise with the engine turned off but with the keys still in the ignition and turned just to turn the electrics on (apologies for my lack of a technical description there!) The noise reminds me of a flap spring thats making a noise because it cant go any further. Any ideas??!

      Also, when I opened the bonnet there's a constant high pitched sound coming from near the back of the engine as well

      Hi. Sounds like there may be an issue with the fan position flap struggling. Quite common but a pain to fix. Not a video I have detailing a fix for currently. The high pitch noise is a common occurrence and one I have too. By all accounts it’s to do with the AC pressurisation but not something I can confirm, although nothing specifically to worry about.       Hi Marc. They’re only standard Falken tyres. Not too expensive and certainly hold the road well. Okay for road noise too to be fair. 😃
