I love how they sing the chorus.
Paolo's got the highs, Matt the Mediums and Corey screaming, it's just a perfect harmony
GreenBallon
This chorus is as perfect as it gets :)
Those guys posting "voice crack" stuff probably have no idea how it feels so sing such fast paced and aggressive songs. His performance was very good. God knows how many songs they played before this one, and he might aswell be tired or his voice already took some damage in previous songs. Metal vocalists simply can't perform without few voice cracks, it's not fkn pop music... it's metal. It takes every single muscle in your body to pull off performance like this. Matt, this was great \m/ !!
Elvedin Semanic Hell yeah, you're right!
Elvedin Semanic Eddie Izzard:" 70% how you look, 20% of how you sound, 10% of what you say" Well 70% they look fucking badass. 10% their lyris are fucking great. the entire band sounds fantastic, even if there are some voice cracking here and there, he sounds 97% , and he's 1 of 4, so that's still a 99 rating, of course I love their live performances better, the changes always sound better to me. Plenty of good bands have singers ... who can't really sing in a traditional sense, but the heart of the singer can still carry it. He's got heart, and he's one of the best singers for this stuff I know, so I mean, fuck yes to this performance. ... Now pardon me ... My brain seemed to have spilled out all over the floor...
J Kurayami Fuck yeah brother! Nothing like seeing a musician that loves what he's doing indeed
perfectly stated dude
I agree totally man. Some people don't understand how taxing that style of vocals are. Personally I think this set is one of matt best vocal performances. So much emotion!
these guys aren't from this planet
They're definitely not!
I know an angry dwarf in real-life who, subconsciously, seems to really think that, disliking Trivium for their lyrics and accusing me of seeing "signs" in them, while in reality I just quote them in order to express something metaphorically. The drawf is very mind sick, I guess, now playing the "devil" because it is hallucinating a "god" that isn't one, and that doesn't want h.. ehm "it". It's a ginger dwarf btw., definitely not a star, but surely getting old, bloating up like a dying star. It hates the younger ones. Trivium -haters are disgusting! 😃
They were born from earth, so technically they are.
WATCH THE WORLD BURN WE ARE THE AWESOME
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I always heard this! LOLLL
What are the actual lyrics cause that's what I've always heard
Joshy, "... we are the arson"
1:40 Corey: BUM i hit your shit Nick 1:42 ok fuck it you're boring
The drumming at all this Chapman Sessions are just precious, clean sound, hard level, and great compagination with bass and guitars. Talk about these great sessions are talking about like Ronaldinho at Barça, Titi Henry at Arsenal, Rooney at Manchester, all beautiful! Jajaja
You doing this is awesome, a Live-HD recording from studios should be on top of every bands prioritylist. I mean, recording something in the studio isn't that hard, you have endless tries, however, doing it like this and keeping it thight as hell requires so much dedication and skill.
I've been a fan for almost 10 years now, still going stroing.
However, I can't let this one slip, Matt. You going teenage boy again:

Special Like for the drumming, Quite clean, difficult and awesome fusion with the lead guitar .. :)
they're so technical, just incredible
***** dont put metal on such a high pedestal, I know there are bands just starting out that can throw out every single crazy ass riff but as for a band that is going on 11 to 12 years as a band trivium is by far evolving into a great band for sure. I played guitar for 10 + years, and bass for about a month now, and they got some pretty hard riffs, I wouldn't say they were beginner or intermediate at all some of there songs are but I would agree with jason some of there riffs are pretty damn tech. Also to execute a song live like this as perfect as the did I would say was pretty damn incredible as well, and I can name quite a few bands out there that are less tech than trivium..Also trivium just gets more professional after each album you can just tell if you understand music, they are evolving you might not like every album, but you can tell / hear it if not maybe one day you will understand music a different way as u grow older too, but thats what's tight about life is there are always other bands that come out to fill those shoes of bands like trivium in younger days, cause there getting older as well, and you can hear it in there music, that they are gettin more tech, and just more in sync all the time instead of being sloppy..maybe u will understand it one day.
***** You have no idea. I know this song is not the hardest, but is for sure harder than many songs from most other metal bands.
Lmao! You call this “technical”? Have you heard of Dream Theater or Between the Buried and Me?
The drums yes...but the guitars here...not, is just amazing brute force chugging
@@ericvalverderosado2046 They had better technical, or at least melodic sounds on Shogun, as well as on their last 3 albums.
I'm really impressed how much they evolved.
2:49 so easy, drummer yawns
Remember seeing these videos the day they dropped and I'm still no where near getting tired of listening to them! ALL HAIL TRIVIUM \m/
Update... 2 years after this comment. Dont think I'll ever get over these videos
They were one of the first videos I saw when first listening to this band in 2015 or 16. Amazing videos.
Paolo loves that jacket.... He wears it live so much...
Great performance, hope they play this next time I see em live
I use to sleep my 3 months old daughter by humming this song to her.
This is my favourite thing I've ever read, not just on RUclips but the internet.
Antonio Quirós Makes me think of when my son was an infant and he would fall asleep with Trivium, All That Remains, and Killswitch playin thru my phone in his crib. Imagine being a baby and the intro to This Calling starts. ;)
Don't know why this drummer is so hated and belittled. He's awesome.
he played off key alot live..you can hear it in alot of the live performances

Trivium songs are so timeless.
I think that riff that starts at 2 37 is one of the coolest parts of the song. It took some time but In Waves really grew on me. This is a badass song
Matt is a seriously accomplished artist. The guy can sing and shred. Keep it up guys!
Accidently closed Google Chrome halfway through this song, oh well guess i'll have to watch it all again...several times.
1:10
"you earn an oscar"
IMO this album was a perfect blend Trivium and a more mainstream sound. Love this album.
Who want them to make it with The Sin And The Sentence
10 Years later and I just realised they released a bunch of songs on chapman studios. I always thought there were only 3. Lekker surprise!
well if you dont think theyre guitar gods, then youve OBVIOUSLY been living under a rock.
nick augusto you´re fucking awesome we miss you
Am I the only one who thinks that Nick has made the band better and better?
0:40 - 0:43
Corey's screams are awesome, and Paolo and Matt have a really nice harmony between their voices.
I couldn't help but giggle when Matt's voice broke at 2:33 though :P
Agreed!!
Love Nick Augusto and what he has brought to Trivium. Travis was one hell of a drummer, very technical, but Nick has helped change the sound of Trivium, once again, while still sounding like no one else but themselves.
Can't wait to see how good Nick actually becomes.
Next album is going to be even better, if that's possible.
i just love how he sings major in a minor song, amazingly great
Ye, it is part of what makes trivium great
2:33 You can hear how his voice cracks a little. Makes him a mortal man again =)
Man this song is good!
I'm confused... are we the arson, or the fire?
From 2:55 to 3:10 i am used to it being very melodic but when i heard it all rough i was thinking " Damn Matt you STILL nailed it"
💙💙💙💙.
either way is a lost cause. then is there any other way of living or it is the end for human race. still its a powerful song.
They filmed this ten years ago 😳
THE FUCKING DRUMS!!!!
Matt looks tired in this song (mean his voice)
Saw them open up for Dream Theater in Toronto last October. Awesome band live and their latest, In Waves is phenomenal.
This what you call pure awesomeness
@gmel1084 not getting into a debat about whos the best band out there, it could last years ... though it just aint trivium, they are awesome but not as original as they used to be, they seem to me to have deviated from what they were and sound very similar to a lot of other bands which is odd because they never did back in the days of asendancy
Watch the your Porn \m/
...wish they could change pitch just a couple more times on this album?
The only songs that change are Caustic and A Grey So Dark (and Ensnare if you count that one)
Amazing songs, however. Of All These Yesterdays blew me away.
Mat's singing is so much better here than it is now, David Draiman (in my opinion) made Matt sound worse
I agree, but Matt wouldn't be able to stay like this for long, singing without a proper technique can sound great but it will fuck you up for good.
You're right. But it's kinda crazy, thinking the whole thing through. He performed 11 years, probably, 'til this shit happen.
Arthur. Florence and it already did. He blew out his voice. But he started to learn the proper technique now and it sounds great.
Precisely, and it is obvious he is stressing his vocal chords in this performance.
yeah he destroyed his vocak chords.. id rather have 90% matt then no matt
I disagree with your entire statement.
I love sabbath, judas priest sucks, motorhead is alright, metallica sucks, megadeth sucks, and slayer hasn't been good in years.
That voice crack at 2:32.
Keagan Smith why does that happen tho?
His singing style used to to tear his throat apart it was completely incorrect
I liked Travis more than Nick, but i have to say...
Nick is sick. Awesome timing, and i love the way he plays the ride. In 2.07 for example..
Thank you, Rob Flynn, for getting Heafy's vocals to a point where they are actually amazing live!
aged poorly
@@tfwnoyandere You may have had him on an off night, which happens when you tour for so long. He was great when I just saw them.
@@WrambleOn he doesn't scream well anymore it sounds like a parody why does nobody else have to sound like garbage to be safe
Corey does not have tattoos because the deathers not usually take.
It fucking sonds just like on the album
no wait ...better :) trivium are the best live band i´ve ever seen!!!
@DONTCKLICKMYNAME not really, they sound to me like they could have been written by any other band in the genre
@joanngelic dont u think the drummer is yawning at 2:50 ??
wait.. what heavy metal band are you in again?? going around on tour making bank?? oh yea.. your not.
you're supposed to either like them or not, not judge them. if you don't like their stuff (or some of it) just ignore it, you shouldn't go around bashing them just because YOU don't like it. and sure, I agree that bands CAN and DO make 'bad' songs from time to time but it's only because everything's evolving, including themselves and the band as musicians and just because it's a simple song for a change doesn't mean it's necessarily 'bad'. Static X writes super simple songs but they're awesome
Surely you sayting 'tattoo's are pointless' is your own opinion. If you don't like them, then that's fine, but if other people do like them, that's also fine. Don't think that just because you don't like tattoo's, they're pointless and you seem to think that noone should get one; if you're going to be an arse then just don't be; everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
And before you guess, no I don't have a single tattoo, nor do I want one :) I'm just sticking up for people who do :)
Tattoo's aren't pointless, to the person who has them, they represent a milestone or hurdle or something significant in their life that they've had to overcome but it hasn't physically scarred them so they associate it with an image then get said image tattoo'd onto them, which, by the way, is scarring, to represent it, so they can mean anything from love to an addiction. Therefore, tattoo's aren't pointless. Oh that and they were originally conceived as a spiritual thing.
I hate all the people telling me I should check out Joey who has been playing for almost 15 years now. Yes, I am well aware of Slipknot and Joey's speed but the music that Trivium makes is more technical than Slipknot's and therefore Nick's (Travis') parts are harder than Joey's even though they are not faster. If you wanna go down that road I should tell you to check out Mike Portnoy, Chris Adler, Dave Lombardo, Neil Peart or Buddy Rich? There are better drummers than Nick but he's much younger
the thing is being creative referring to riff-writing is pretty hard, I am a musician as these guys and I think after writing a masterpiece as Shogun is, you are simply not able to write something that good an consistent again, or even better.
people want the new albums of any band to be better than the former one and that's why many will get disappointed, nearly always.
but that all won't change your opinion, cause music is just a matter of taste.
but i respect yours as the other ones here.
it's just beacuse it is so boring. just some riffs here and there with good quality, but nothing more. shogun was so consistent, this album simply isn't. it's not a matter of earl works or late works, it's a matter of good songs. These ones are so trite and banal, they doesn't say pretty much nothing new: the same chord progression over and over (VI-VII-I) and always the same scales. I prefer listen to Periphery, at least their quality is still amazing.
this comment is foolish as hell..
the songs aren't as complex as the ones on shogun in terms of riffing, but they're still powerful and good to listen to, so why do people hate on 'in waves'?
it's the same sort of dumb comments on 'tallica vids, saying 'old metallica was much better, than the new one!'
people, saying those words aren't true fans, but more a bunch of idiotic people, seriously..
Okay I can tell by all the arguing before my post someones gonna talk shit but fuck it I don't care. I think Heafy has a much better singing voice than he thinks. When they take this more melodic route they sound so much better IMO. A7X finally did by City Of Evil and their music just keeps getting better. Plus they still stay hard and kick ass. This and "Black" are two of the best I've heard from them so far.
@travesty92 Yeah, I noticed Matt's voice cracking too. But hey, it happens though. Usually, when you're singing, its a result of needing to take a breath, and needing to clear your throat (which Matt does frequently when he spits). It is very annoying though and it almost always happens when you're in the zone and doing really well. lol
There is no such thing as 'better' in music. If we were talking musical technicality, then Trivium is one of the most musically complex bands out of the bands you just listed. Everything else is just opinion. I LOVE Slayer and Metallica, and Megadeth, but I prefer Trivium in all honesty.
I'll have to disagree there my friend, don't get me wrong its a fact Metallica are one of the most influential metal bands ever. But to me I think of Trivium as an evolved Metallica same with Machine Head. But this is all opinion and everyone is entitled to theirs :).
wow ... there are tons of fast drummers that are younger plus age really dosunt matter since the electromagnetic empulse slows down as you get older and the instinctive neron motor kicks in to change drummer into a more of an instictive atribute than anything else
I saw them live too, but last time was in 2008 in Milan, with slayer. In that period i was so much in trivium... but know i don't know, after in waves my passion for them started to vanish... Maybe it's just the fact that now i'm more into djent and dubstep than metal in general...
Well I can give you reason on the point where you argue that you can't always write masterpices. That's true. And for that reason sometimes would be better not coming out with an album untill it's the best you can do. But majors wants money, and you have to sell regularly.
@propert1234 Umm... wireless instruments have been used for quite awhile brother, especially in metal bands where they do a lot of running and jumping. wires tend to get in the way. C'mon man, you've obviously never seen them live because they sound exactly like this.
That's propably one of the last songs of that day. Matt's starting to lose his voice. Awesome performance anyways, Trivium just keeps geting better and better. They are the ones who should have come to Rock In Rio, not f'ing Katy Perry and all the those other lame bands ;/
Watch the world burn and set your ear on fire, watch the world burn, we are the arsehole. :D
You obviously didn't get the point. 'Screwing with basic laws of physics' means he's so fast and good they (basic laws of physics {I hope you actually know what 'basic laws of physics' are}) don't apply to him and therefore he's superb.
'grew up on this band'? are you sure, sounds like you haven't grown up at all.
this is recorded in a studio (Chapman Studios if you didn't read the video title) with wireless units (obviously). use your internet in better ways, investigate before commenting!
man Nick brought so much life to Trivium.
A better band is a subjective point of view. they are all great bands undeniably. I happen to like trivium's music more than those bands. So i have no argument. whether it be valid or not. it's just my opinion.
the guitars are plugged in. they get different sounds when they play like in this song. the begining of the solo starts out with some wah on the recod, this doesnt. and also the guitar tuning is lower in down from the sky
@rrgert4 Calm down, M Shadows is the best vocalist out of the three followed by Matt. Matt doesn't have a great singing voice he said it himself. He HAS developed a great voice over the years though, but Shads is still the king.
you guys should better look at it in another way: if not the bands he listed above trivium probabbly wouldn't exist, as alot of other good bands and many yet to come. they shaped metal into what it is now
@rrgert4 No man his high screams are just annoying. Good singing voice but no variety always the same. They're getting Jesse back in KSE so it won't be a hard transition.
To me, Shads is still king :p
you obviously dont have any respect for other songs besides brutal metal. Yes I see where you are coming from, but these "radio metal" songs are what metal today is based off of.
It was a joke because Dream Theater has nothing to do with those bands and they're the most complex band around. the comedic value of comment is dead, now move along.
have you ever heard about black sabbath, judas priest,motorhead,metallica,megadeth,slayer...? each of these are clearly better than trivium so your argument is invalid
Metallica are better.
In fact they have inspired Trivium on SO many ways.
No Metalica, no Trivium.
But I would agree that they are the second greatest metal band ever!
Can´t help to be under the impression that the descending arpeggio´s in the solo are pretty much the same as the ones in the solo in the song Ascendancy.
Still, great song.
@ndonato2 your right about corey, but matt, well he can barely play pentatonic stuff. and a higher degree of technicality does not determine who the better player is.
Did they ever make a tab book for this album for the bass? Paolo's playing in this album was awesome, but half the internet's tabs are off.
Where is your ear? The only excuse can be the tuning. Here it is :
C# G# C# F#
Sebastian Peña He plays a 5 string, so I don't think that would be his tuning...and plus I've never been taught to hear the music and be able to play it...So that's where my ears are.
Laggy The lowest string would be B flat (assuming he is de-tuning a half step on every string). Most of the songs on In Waves were played with 6 string guitars at drop C#. i think their 7 string songs are standard tuning. Not 100% sure though
+Dave Davidson it's A flat (G# if that's what you wanna call it)
fair enough. im no expert for sure.
I didn't say they were the most complex band out of all bands, i said they are the most complex out of the ones the he listed. Dream theater wasn't among them.
yea not lately...still waiting for them to call...much like your elementary grammar school teacher calling you to tell you that you have failed in life...haha
comon there are like a million drummer's that are faster ... if u really wanna see speek look up jpey jordison drum cam and bloody hell ull be surprised :0
I know about Joey for a long time now but I don't think there's big difference between them. Now if you said Mike Portnoy, that would be a whole different story.
@PhilosopherGaming Listen to songs like Inception of the End, Dusk Dismantled, and A Skyline's Severance. Those sound like they were meant to be on ascendancy.
You know you're a good band when you can play live and it sounds just like the album.
@noconflictbanana syns more talented tha either of these guys. and no his solos arent all the same. find 2 of his solos that sound similar. they dont.
Poor matt, so many voice breaks. He has improved SOOO much with vocals since Shogun and The Crusade though :3 Must have just been worn out, poor guy :'D
The rifs at the start sound a lot like Alter Bridge "White Knuckles"... No ofense cause I like both bands, but if you hear it as well, then thumbs up! :D

I, we, they = make
he, she, it = makes
(:
what the fuck are you sayn' ?! please they are a good band but there is a fucking long way to be "the best".... and for now there's no way....
have you had your inner health plus today?
I don't care what you have to say, I'm not trying to start an argument. Im sure your ok in real life
