Because of the trauma this boss induced for me as a child, now at the university, whenever I am taking an impossible test, I begin to hear this song in the background.
@@abandonedchannel8828 I hated that guy. If I remember correctly, he would constantly heal himself when I feel like I'm close to beating him. He would recover like 20 or 30HP. Smh
Lol I remember back when I was a kid my HP was 180 and my FP and BP were around 20 to 30 in Paper Mario TTYD and I COULD NOT beat the Shadow Queen but now I went through it again and my HP and FP was 60 and BP was 90 (the highest) and she was easy as heck.
@@_Xandre 180? You sure about that? must've been a really high level, like 45++, even 80 is a lot. I have a level 32 with 50hp, 35fp, and only 51bp. I don't even know if 180hp is possible even with badges
Yah my tactic never fails (Me tactic is that for the first level up I boost HP of the second I boost FP and for the third I boost BP...do ya see the flawlessness in my strategy yet)
Huff n' Puff was, in my opinion, the hardest boss out of all three Paper Mario games yet. His high attack power, ability to heal some HP every other turn, and his "Ace in the Hole" attack doing 14 was a ton at the level you fought him. No boss before or after all the way to Dimentio was as hard as this guy.
This really takes me back to the good ole days. I remember when my brother was playing in Flower Fields while my baby sitter was here, and she had to help him beat Huff n' Puff because he couldn't beat him. xD
Huff N. Puff holds a special place in my heart. By 'Special' I mean "first boss to ever make me want to break my controller." Playing this game when I was like, six or seven, it was SOO hard to beat this guy! And! Even now, when I've replayed the game, he was STILL a challenge! I beat him on my first try, but still. When I see him, I get my angry face on. D
I know this comment is 13 years old, but here’s a strategy Ultra Rank goombario, use super jump charge with Mario, charge with goombario, repeat about 9 more times, and then do power bounce and multibonk
This boss was so hard but so fun. I remember playing against him on the wii with a gamecube controller, and I was very close to the end of the boss battle. I had very little HP, and I was was so nervous, I had to put the controller down and go wash my hands, because they were so sweaty and shaking. That was an experience I would never forget.
I remember sitting all day on my knees as a little kid attempting to beat this frickin impossible boss. One day I tried getting up after sitting on my knees for hours on end and found that I simply couldn't.... I will forevor associate this boss and music with extremely painful leg cramps.
I first played this at the age of 8, it was hard, I can say that to those of you who havent reached it yet, I came back to this and it was still a challenge, but it felt easier possibly because my badges were a lot different.
When i was little this was the hardest boss i thought in the game, next to master 3. When he was almost dead he would heal up and own me. This was and still is my favorite game ever.
Even if you use the Ice Badge strategy Lava Pirhana is still pretty hard, and personally I didn't find Crystal King to be a problem at all. It's funny how in this game, 1 boss is really hard for one person, and easy for another depending on your' playing strategy. Like for me, Tubba's Heart was the hardest but for many people he is the easiest boss in the game.
OMG! I KNOW! I remember fighting him as a kid and basically being THIS CLOSE to tossing the controller at the TV! And now, when I've recently played the game, he was STILL tough to beat!
Before beating him: Get the Ultra boots! Then go back 2 Flower fields. Go to the sky and get the Super jump charge badge. Activate it and when u fight Huff-N-Puff, super charge ur jump 3 times. I recommend using the quick change badge as well. In case of Huff-N-Puffinitis
The secret (well, one of them) is to get the Ultra Boots before taking him on. Once you get Spike just get 'em from the tunnels. Be sure to always take out his goons as soon as they appear so he can't suck them up to heal- Spike Storm is great for this. Use Cloud Nine or Outta Sight to dodge Huff N' Puff's big attacks, and keep lots of recovery items around. Parakarry's Shell Shot is great for when you're doing damage and not just sweeping goons.
@FroggerJvids Not really, Multibounce is perfect against the guys that fall off him. Helps to use Bow as well, and maybe carry a Fireflower or two. It gets even easier if you get the Ultra Boots the moment you recruit Lakilester.
Probably cuz we all put on those fire-resistent boots...Lava Piranha did put up a decent challenge, especially when he frickin respawned like Dark Bowser. But I stocked up on WAY more items with Huff N. Snuff and he still managed to stop me cold three times. It only took me once to beat Lava Piranha, even if it was only by like 2 HP
@LotsOLuck777 Using the super jump charge badge that you can find right before you fight him and powerbounce, and having retrieved the ultra boots, this guy is actually a cinch. Same with Bowser and that Ice guy who's name I can't remember. But yes, otherwise you're right, that 14 damage move once killed me before I was going to heal with a Shroom D:
a lot of people say this is the hardest boss on Paper Mario all because when you attack him, those little puff slaves come out and once in a while he eats them for energy. they trick is to use Chill out when he was so many of those puff slaves around him.
@kitteh222 Just use Lakilester's ability (4 FP) to get rid of them (all but two). Another tip: have a repel gel, use it when he charges. He becomes so easy with experience.
When I was still young I could never hammer the A button fast enough to get all them tiny Huff Puff bastards off Mario without suffering tons of damage in the process. Out of all the bosses this one no doubt carved his way into my brain to stay a immortal scar the most.
He's the hardest because he requires more of a strategy that the other bosses up to this point didn't give. I never beat him when I was younger. It made me so sad...lol!
@jecht u had to hear the music and the tone it set as huff and puff was saying it half consealed maybe not as evil but still kinda cool plus i messed up on a line it was "the man named mario not the man mario"
I did, too. For the first section of the battle, he's not fire elemental, so I wound up wasting a lot of crap on that, when it would have really helped me in the section section of the Lava Piranha. Also, since it was a boss, I didn't have Multibounce on, so Ice Power didn't put all of them out of commission. What's more, I have more trouble timing jumps for targets that are high up.
@ResediVlad LOL I've never been on a plane. I look for him all the time looking up, and I'm never scared when I think about it. If I even saw him ever(I haven't so far), I'd eat him, like the Yoshi Kids and Gourmet Guy did in the credits parade!
When we were younger if was a scary fact knowing a boss can recharge his health and almost always get it back. 3 years later, I used Lakister and killed all those annoying tuff n puffs way easier when you're older compared to 10 years old.
One of the most hardest boss, but beaten him. The first time I fought this guy, he was super ass hard and kept on pissing me off as he sucked up his own minions and recovered his own ass. But I'll admit that it was fun as well as kicking his ass. :P
@theluigifan1 thats his downfall, he can only heal with the tuff puffs around. If you hit him first, then spiny surge him, its easy, as he cant heal. its sort of like stopping the koopa bros from stacking up. Huff'n'puff only has tough attacks when hes got about 10 hp left
Go on ahead, I used to have trouble with this puffball when I face him, but now I take him in one go, despite getting a really big beating in the process. To tehkraziboi, If you think you're such a bigshot try beating Kent C. Koopa or one of those sparkling flower enemies unscathed.
You see, people were kids when they played this, so its possible that they (A) did not know certain tactics at the time or (B) were not as skilled at the game with action commands, (C) weren't leveled up enough, because it would be tough if your HP is 20 or FP is 20 when he does his lightning and ground pound atttack, and even if you attack all enemies on the screen, you also attack huff n.puff himself, meaning tuff puffs still come out of him, and he can still have a turn to suck them up.
@Mrgogosguy The Toad Master is the hardest I think because of his deadly combo but I don't think any of them are really that hard anymore. If you use Lakilester's Shell thing he is pretty easy cause he really can't gain much HP. Then you use Bow's Out of sight thing when he is going to Use lightning.
@hesitate71 It's easy, just use an attack that hits him AND his little cloud spawns, it'l take them out and only end up creating one left. I reccomend the fishes water attack.

How are you doing now?
Playing this game as a kid, this boss was nearly impossible. Playing this game now, beat this guy in one try no problem.
accel103 strange...adults/teens are just better at video games than kids..but I'm a kid and I got this on vitural console and kicked his a**

*F in the chat for all the broken controllers this guy caused back in the day*
The "chill out" ability was so useful during this battle. The mini clouds did either 0 or 1 damage to mario when it was active

wuss, using the easy way out

YES I'M ABOUT TO BEAT HIM! JUST ONE MORE ATTA- Oh wait nevermind hes healing.
Oh this is by far (in my opnion) the best Boss music in the game it just makes it sound so cool and hard like it really is.
Oh i remember fighting this boss for MONTHS, he was so unbelievable hard. but just because of this it's my favourite boss :P

This was the most difficult boss imho. I was very young, so strategies were a new thing for me. I defeated all other bosses in only one run.
In every chapter until this point the most recent partner you obtained was meta against the boss.
And yet lakelister was so useless against this guy.
