A thought. Shellie could be a subspecies of Noki who live under the sea rather than on the shores. People often forget the Sunshine races.
I'm pretty sure Nokis are native to living under the sea if Episode 8 of Noki Bay is any indication. Plus, Shellie's species is more inspired by a shrimp than a snail.

Something to mention is the fact that Watt is not an exclusive species to Paper Mario, she's a Lil Sparky which do show up in the main series (first appearance being Super Mario World and then they were brought back in Wonder). There is also a larger variant known as Hotheads (which also show up as an item in smash.)
Same for Mrs Mowz, she is an Little Mouser
Actually, ms. mouse's species isn't unique to the paper mario series. There is Mouser from Super Mario Bros. 2.
Ms. Mowz' species is the Little Mouser which debuted in Yoshi's Island
Watt is also a sparky, which have been in platforming games though inconsistent if they are fiery or electrical

If you want pj to have a more distinct niche compared to your vine character, you could have her ability send out an echo like sound wave from a boombox which tells you the location of secrets and items in the overworld
This is awesome. Especially being an optional character makes her a great fit for these types of abilities that help 100% the game.
I feel like you could have given hammett's finale ability a better name. Something like "chip shot" or "tee'd off tantrum" or "bogey barrage"
I’m sorry but I died laughing at Goombro’s name and design. His name is amazing and his personality really fits someone like him. The other partners look really cool too! Hoping you’ll make a part 2 soon ^^
I like to headcannon Flurrie as a Ty-Foo since they look so much alike, even though they made their first appearance in 3D World, which came out two home console generations after TTYD.

I always saw her as a variation on SMRPG's Nimbus folk but this makes a lot of sense.

Also, I'm not sure if this was intentional, but Bomb Bros don't exist. I definitely think it's a variant that could exist in the future, and I've even come up with a partner concept for a bomb bro in the past, but they haven't been introduced to the Mario series (yet).

The thing with her name reminds me of Brigadier Mollusque-Lanceur III, Dauphin of Bubblaine from Super Mario Odyssey. And what do you know? They're both sea creatures.

Love this! It's very cool to see the branching out content, and seeing more would be cool too! It's great whenever a channel can have that freedom. And these partners are fun and charming, I especially love Hammett. Being an old fellow who's had all these different roles? Awesome. And a Scottish curmudgeon character is always a win for me since I grew up on the classic DuckTales. And seeing more good queer rep in Nintendo games... That's the dream tbh. I gotta ask, the Tim Gunn vibes on Tim the mole... Intentional, right? Or a crazy coincidence?

@@PragMagik hey Question Can You Create Bosses For Your Game. You Can just do the Chapter Bosses for Worlds 1-8 and the Prologue and also Can You Not Make Them Generic Enemies But a lil different, Like Sticker star I Mean Even The Original paper Mario is guilty of this with bosses like the Goomba king but at least With Bosses like the Koopa Bros and Tutan Koopa They Change things up btw. Lots And Not Just Make Them Like A Another Koopalings or Legion Of Stationary Group and try to make them all unique. But can you please do my request. I’m not asking for it now. I know it takes time to Create Videos and Come up with Ideas for Bosses.
Here's a bit of a wacky idea for a partner I had:
Mawria, a Maw Maw (y'know, those guys from Mario Wonder) who's a bit of a globetrotting buff. Personality wise, she'd be kinda similar to Jen from Total Drama Ridiculous Race: super peppy and excitable, fast-talking whenever she's excited, which is almost all of the time, and very much nice towards everyone (excluding particularly vile villains obviously). As for her appearance, she would have a more tan color compared to the usual orange color of her fellow Maw Maws. She would also wear a pair of sunglasses on her forehead, a necklace made out of flowers, a nice pink dress with white polka dots, and a pair of pink flip flops.
As for her battle attacks, I was thinking of the following:
Her base attack would be something similar to Sushie's Belly Flop or Flurrie's Body Slam, namely tossing herself at the enemies. No Flower Points would be needed.
The next attack would involve her eating an enemy and shooting it at the enemy right behind it, similar to Yoshi's Gulp. It would cost something like 2-3 Flower Points to use.
Her Super Rank attack would involve her striking a battle stance. At first it may sound boring asf, but what she'll do next will make you change your mind: in a similar fashion to Admiral Bobbery's Hold Fast, she will damage all enemies that physically attack her, by eating them, obviously. However, there's the added bonus that she will also eat projectiles that are shot at her. Also like Hold Fast, her attack would last 1 turn by default but can last up to a maximum of 4 turns with every successful input. At the end of the turn(s), she will spit any and all enemies/projectiles for half the damage they dealt. It would cost somewhere between 4-6 FPs to use.
Finally, her Ultra Rank attack involves her eating Mario (albeit harmlessly), which will protect him from enemy attacks in a variation of Lady Bow's Outta Sight, Vivian's Veil and Flurrie's Dodgy Fog. Of course, since Mawria is only protecting Mario in this case, she would still get hurt from enemy attacks, meaning she can still get KO'd while protecting Mario. This attack would probably cost less FP than her Super Rank attack but more than her second base attack, so something between 3-4 FPs.
Finally, her overworld ability would have her charging forward, mouth agape, eating any enemies or objects along the way. Eating an object will have her run back to Mario and give it to him, while eating an enemy will count as a First Strike in her favor.
(SHEEEEEESH, I did NOT mean for the comment to be *that* long lol)
Definitely would love to see more of this! Maybe a tiny Wiggler Monk trying to manage their anger, or a Spike that can pull a bunch of different objects outta their mouth! Nice change of pace from the usual Pokemon content :)

My brother and I were making up an idea for a TTYD sequel in which Wart is the main antagonist, and the goomba ally is specifically one of the spiked helmet wearing Goombas that tend to show up early in the game to teach you to use the hammer. His name was Goombenegger, and he had a thick Austrian accent - also he was the FINAL ally instead of the first (and you'd find some random Tattle entries already filled out when he joins, including all the bosses you can't refight). "HE WAS WEAK GIRLY MAN, ALSO WEAK TO FIRE ELEMENT."

I really like this. You have the style down and your ideas are creative and functional. I think romance or even just a crush between two partners is a completely new thing in Paper Mario (they are usually interested in NPCs and, of course, Mario) and I like it.
I'd love to see the hypothetical game these new partners are in!
God I love all of them! If we do get another thousand year door like game I hope these party members are just as vibrant as these guys. Thats assuming Nintendo doesn't whimp out. Like we're already taking a step forward on the Paper Mario series don't take us 2 steps back.

4:16 Watt is not a species exclusive to the Paper Mario series as he is a Lil Sparky which were first introduced in Super Mario World. Ms. Mowz is based on the Little Mouser enemies introduced in Yoshi's Island which were in turn inspired by the Mouser boss from Super Mario Bros. 2. The cool thing about Paper Mario before the dark times was that there was a lot of care and attention to detail referencing every little aspect of the Mario series to make this world feel alive and make sense.

I’d imagine that Goombro would play on the tattle partner even more. For his tattle, he doesn’t even pull out a book. That doesn’t fit with his more dude-bro personality. Instead, he would know about his enemies through street smarts rather than the typical book smarts, which in this case basically means telling you about the enemies from his word of mouth and personal experience. I mean, look at him. He’s probably got into some fights and won.
How would he know Max HP, Attack, and Defense? Does he just get into fights that much?!

About 7 years ago when I was scribbling alot of Paper Mario ideas, I LITERALLY made up a Tennis Bro. Would be an awesome pair with your Golf Bro! Amazing designs you got there!

I liked how you made an entire game based around just the partners! Me myself, i have tried this, and it was based around different crafts (Note that this was made around Origami King came out). The Partners wern't as thought-out as this (Which i LOVE that you are doing more than just Poke'mon), but the basic Premis was that 2 hands came from the sky (Imagine Master and Crazy Hand), and the turned everyone of the world different crafts. Some turned to Toys, while some turned to Origami. The game was supposed to be called "Crafty Chaos", but it never saw the light...
The Partners were supposed to be based on crafts as well, with a Origami-Version Goombella from the Original game as your tattle Partner. a Boo was planned in this Hypothetical game, and he was going to be a ballon. a Toy Shy-Guy from the Mini-Mario Series was there, as well as a callback to Yoshi's Woolly World with all the yoshi's being turned to stiched puppets. i can't remember all the aspects, but yeah! overall, great video, please, PLEASE do more!

I want Poplin NPCs, I want Bramballs to make their debut in paper form, TTYD created parallels between itself and Super Mario Sunshine with the use of shine sprites and the Pianta syndicate. I want more of that.
This is the stuff I dream about for Paper Mario! I've come up with some ideas of my own based on the premise of traveling to different lands based on literature themes, like a super hero Paratroopa from a comic book land and a Pokio/Bonneter comedy duo from a newspaper comic strip town.
this is incredibly well thought out! from the settings, to the character designs and abilities, plus their personalities, and the use of x and y buttons for more overworld abilities is so simple but genius!
Great job with the designs, I wish these were all real! I think my favorites are Speedy and Jinni! PJ the DJ's also a really fun concept, but I think you could've made her design more unqiue, like giving her more clothes or making her colors based off of Raving Piranha Plants from Electrodrome in Mario Kart 8! The all-original partners are super-cool as well, but I do want to make a correction and let it be known that there are no OC partners: Watt's a Lil' Sparky (Super Mario World), Ms. Mowz is a Little Mouser (Yoshi's Island), Madame Flurrie's either a Ruff Puff (Paper Mario) or Fwoosh (Super Mario 64), and Vivian's a Shadow (Super Mario RPG)! If I could give suggestions to what Mario species they'd be instead, Vinessa could be changed to a Snapdragon (Super Mario RPG), while Shellie could become a Noki (Super Mario Sunshine)!
The only original enemy type that becomes a partner is Vivian.
Ms. Mowz is a mouser. More specifically, it's based on the little mousers that steal eggs in Yoshi's Island.
Flurrie is a wind spirit. These originated in Mario Sunshine but haven't reappeared. The closest we have is Ty-Foo.

I was already a fan of your videos, so I was glad you made a video for another franchise I like
I really love all of these character, designs, and the explanation of their personalities are a really good touch that adds lot to this video. Ever since the thousand year door remake was announced, I’ve also been designing some custom party members and it’s really nice to see that other people enjoy doing that as well.
I love that ever since the TTYD remake, more and more people have been make fan partners for a Paper Mario. I’m actually making some myself.
3:40 I'm imagining that in terms of how the move would actually play out, "Bro Beatdown" would work by holding the control stick to the right as a cursor slides from mario and hammet towards the enemies and then releasing it when the cursor is on an enemy as he uses his club to smack 6 golf balls, two fire, 2 ice and 2 bombs one after the other at any enemy of your choosing the fire and ice balls would do less immediate damage than the bomb golf ball but would have the added benefit of inflicting their respective statuses on the enemy the ball hits
I would love something like, this again like new enemies for games and not just fakemon! I would love this to be more common
I like to imagine Bro Beatdown as Hammet hitting the fire, ice, and bombs with his club, with the timing portion being like a virtual golf game, where you decide the angle and power of a shot (with both moving automatically, and you just hit the button at the setting you want), and if it hits the ground rather than an enemy, it ends the attack then (so an excellent would be hitting every shot)
I love seeing those fan-made partners. Nintendo should take notes for the next Paper Mario game.
What if in some future Paper Mario game your first partner is one of those talking flowers form Super Mario Wonder. It could be a nice surprise to get some new or obscure character and it could be a funny character, either talking too much about certain things or barely talking at all because it's shy or smth

I actually have an idea for a secret ability Jinni could have. So, basically, this happens in battle, and it happens when she dies, in which she’ll drop a drawing (because I like to think she draws), and her drawing comes to life, acting as a ally until it dies, but this could only happen once (so, if she’s revived, and she dies again, she doesn’t drop a drawing). I think this could be a fun secret mechanic.
The name I thought of for this game, it’d be about “the printer”, being the creator of all the characters, as the villain tampers with it, causing big trouble to the world, as peach informs Mario about this, he knows the jig.
The Volcano race should totally feature a tosteranian selling tacos or something
Id be interested to see a follow up on the video regarding each of the locations, their boss fights, and how they tie in with the collectables of the story. Since, if we ignore sticker star, the area you go too usually has a thematic connection to either the collectable or the partner.
I would love it if you made a video of the partners backstory explaining their motivations to join Mario on his new quest!

These were all super creative ideas! I’d love to see Nintendo return to making unique designs for characters again.

If I were the lead designer of this next Paper Mario game, I would make the game combat revolve more about elemental abilities and give enemies more elemental weaknesses and buffs while having party members inflict elemental abilities exclusive to them. Sure, other Paper Mario games had this, but I would like to expand it so there is more strategic variety. I was thinking, maybe a water cheep cheep, an electric magikoopa, or an ice bro for example. As much as I love TTYD, it didn't add too much to enemy weakness variety and I would like to see a bit more added on top of what was already established.
For future videos, could you perhaps go into more detail on the story of this hypothetical game like the chapters, other characters you meet, bosses, the main villain, character intermissions (like the Peach and Bowser ones), etc.?
One thing i wish they did in thousand year door is have it that all partners were present during important cutscenes, this could allow for a bunch of cool and funny interactions between partners. 😊
Very cool ideas! This reminds me.. I once had an idea for some partners that were based only on enemies from Super Mario World! A Galoomba, a Ninji, a Chargin' Chuck, a Rex, a Fishing Boo, and either a Blurp or a Rip Van Fish if I recall!
