Ms mowz is perfect for badge hunting given she can steal enemy’s badges and items. Plus she’s really good if you’re facing enemies with high defense but low hp like buzzy beetles or spike tops.
Also her slap is great in palace of darkness, is very useful to beat Chain Chomps with using fp and with only an Attack badge in one turn you beat them).

Not to mention some enemies have high defense, either don’t stay flipped or flipping is WORSE, and moves to deal with that eats away FP…making Yoshi actually pretty useless because he can’t pierce defenses and can only do 1 HP per hit. I’d rather use Ms Mows or Goombella, who are prolly already out for their non combative abilities, anyway. And like…Vivian can hit anywhere and always inflicts burn. It’s few enemies where she can’t do Something…unlike Yoshi.

Well, he did say at the end that he isn't super familiar with paper mario and it kinda showed. The only really bad thing about Ms. Mowz was her hp pool, and inability to hit flying enemies which he didn't mention at all, but she has so much utility.

Tease is pretty terrible (why use status effects you could be killing things), Smooch is negligible healing and Love Slap is complete garbage (can't hit spikes or fire, can't hit airborne enemies, only hits the front enemy - Mario's hammer but worse). The one saving grave she has is that she can steal items and badges from enemies, which doesn't really effect the battle state in any way.
Honestly the "get the enemies out of the battle" moves are probably the most pointless attacks in the games (except for gale force) considering you can just...run away. Without costing you flower points
Agreed. Though there are some mandatory normal enemy battles something like Spook could come in handy. They have more use though in that situation in low level runs.
In 64 you don’t get XP from enemies you Spook/Hurricane/Air Lift/Up and Away/Fright Jar. TTYD you do from GaleForce (original comment didn’t include Gale Force) and Showstopper.

Funny thing about the yoshi's stampede attack: the description says that it attacks ground based enemies. This makes you think that it can't hit aerial opponents but, no, it can still hit them. It's odd that it does a thing that the description says it can't.
It never said that it couldn’t. It doesn’t say that it can’t attack aerial enemies, it only says it attacks ground based enemies, but doesn’t say anything about aerial enemies.
Aerial enemies have two planes to sit in. One at ground level and one up higher. Boos change planes for example. If they’re at ground level, the yoshi stampede will reach them, despite being aerial.
Gotta hard disagree on Bobbery’s placement. His HP and damage output help him absolutely obliterate late-game enemy lineups. Yeah, the FP use is limiting, but it’s honestly not too difficult to gain more FP in the middle of combat

That was my reaction. I used Bobbery almost as much as I used Vivian or my kid yoshi in battle. Granted, he is the last partner you get, so maybe if he was earlier he’d be more OP.
people say he uses too much FP but your not gonna need any FP after you one hit every boss with bob-ombast, and he gets rid of the smoke which is a huge lifesaver for me
Yes he does a lot of damage but he uses a lot of fp, if you have attack increasing badges, and especially mega rush p, stampede is literally better bob-ombast as it costs less and will do lots of damage
Vivian still remains my number 1 partner, so I was heartbroken seeing her barely make the top 5 :< HOWEVER, Lil' Yoshi Dude is objectively amazing, so I can't complain with the list
If I recall correctly, Ms. Mowz's core conceit is that she ignores defense. I'm not sure if this matters (more powerful specials probably beat simple standard attacks in most cases), but I should think that both item-steal and defense-ignorance would make for a decent Pit-run character.

The way multibonk/ power bounce caps work is interesting. From Mario Wiki: "Goombario's Multibonk uses a cap system that forces the attack to end, like Mario's Power Bounce. This value does not get reset after an attack, causing the move to cap much earlier when used multiple times in a battle. The value is reset after either switching partners or entering another battle." So Goombario can end up having a very low limit on the number of multibonks he can do unless you switch partners after he uses the attack
This was interesting to watch. As someone who's spent a lot of time challenge running this game, I always like to see how other players rank certain facets of the battle system. I'd say I agree with most of this list's placements, although I would personally rank Koops higher. I think Power Shell and Shell Shield are worth more than you're giving them. If you've ever watched a Pre-Hooktail pit run, you'll see just how much mass destruction Power Shell is capable of, and for only 3 FP as well. Shell Shield is one of the best defensive moves in the game, since even when it reaches 0 HP, it will always absorb one full attack. That makes it great for sponging especially strong moves. It also prevents any status problems.
While this was a great video and I enjoyed it, I have to disagree with the way you ranked them. They also have abilities outside of battle that you neglected to take into account, in addition you also either didn't mention or, more likely, didn't know that Ms. Mowz's basic attack ignores defense. In addition to her ability to sniff out treasures I would have personally ranked her higher.
I definitely agree with Number 1. But for a controversial opinion, when judging PM partners by their personalities and backstories however Lady Bow is my least favorite of them all; specifically for unjustifiably bullying Tubba Blubba and, if I may add, BLACKMAILING Mario into helping her especially since she and her Boos stubbornly captured one of the Star Spirits!
I feel like I’m the only one who thinks that Flurrie is one of the best partners in the game. Gale force giving out star points is unbelievably useful against the harder enemies in the game (embers, and those stupid clouds) Lip Lock has come IN CLUTCH against Bonetail, which Flurrie almost single-handedly destroyed in my play-through because being able to heal herself came mighty useful. Tbh I didn’t use dodgy fog all that much but the other other 2 moves alone are enough for me to put Flurrie so high on my personal list.
Nope I also love Flurrie as character and in battle. Gale Force and Lip Lock alone are her best moves and I do use them consistently. Also underestimated as a partner sadly but its fine.
I think the old paper mario games, and the new paper mario games are two separate series. The old one is more of an rpg, and new one is more of a adventure puzzle game with paper themes
It angers me that her original backstory was changed in the English version. I remember not learning that Vivian was transgender until _wayyyyyy_ after I finished the game. On top of that, she's useful both inside and outside of battle. Vivian fans unite!!

You forgot to mention that coops also can get knocked down like any other Koopa, meaning he's best against ground enemies and weak against anything that can Bonk him. He's actually my favorite character to use as a partner just for his defense and defensive options.
Bro I think you’re wrong about Madame Flurrie. She is extremely useful and was a real MVP in my playthrough. The fact the she can essentially instantly defeat enemies makes a lot of sections way easier. She’s also a tank able to withstand a ton of attacks, not to mention lip lock piercing through defenses to do 6 damage and healing you. Just thought it could be fun to explain why I believe Flurrie is one of the best.

Flurrie is underrated late game because Lip Lock is actually good af. I have no idea how Viv isn't top 3. High damage, biggest possible spread, and DoT damage.
Wouldn't all the TTYD partners be over the PM64 partners just based on the TTYD partners having HP and not being 1 hit incapacitated like the PM64 ones?
I've been playing ttyd this past month and I think Flurrie's kind of underrated. She's been really useful on bosses like Smorg and Cortez who have parts that break off/have HP of their own that you need to take out. She simultaneously attacks and replenishes herself with lip lock and gale force saves time just blowing those extra sentient limbs away. My strategy in a lot of these fights has been use Flurrie to suck away HP/blow away limbs and then use Mario conservatively on the FP to deal damage while their defenses are lowered. It wasn't until I was fighting Marilyn and Beldam with Doopliss that I've found my limits with her in a boss fight, but I hadn't attained the ultra stone yet. I definitely can't argue your #1 spot, I'll say that much!
Madame Flurrie was someone who I was always told was bad, but that liplock ability is just super good. It is very efficient for dealing damage and healing esp since it ignores defense. I think she has pretty solid stats as well. She honestly carried me through the 100 floor pit area when I decided to just try it out on a whim with no preparation at all
Vivian is my fave, but i much more heavily factor in their story role, design and personality than you did (she's also one of my favorites battle-wise too tho)

In N64 the only 4 partners I used were watt,bombette,lady bow, and parakarry I'm glad at least one of my favorites from n64 made it to the top and the only people I used in ttyd were goombella,Bobbery, and kid Yoshi I would name him jalapeno cause his attacks are on fire plus I'm glad he made top 5 but I thought Bobbery would make it higher considering how much damage he can cause
Power Plus was only for Mario in Paper Mario 64, it's The Thousand-Year Door that added P(artner) Badges. Other than that, this was a pretty good list overall! Also, any chance to hear somebody talk about Paper Mario is welcome in my book.
Very interesting & fun video for sure! I'd argue that Flurrie, Koops, & Ms Mowz to be higher because of their defense piercing capabilities, especially Flurrie because she replenishes FP. Also, Paper Mario 64 doesn't allow the increase of partner attack power in any way as a quick fact check Thanks for posting for when PM was in it's heyday!
My personal partners tier list: Don’t Bother: 15. Ms Mows-only useful to steal badges post chapter 5 and she can’t even always do it. Horrible. B tier: 14. Admiral Bobbery-great power but very expensive and he’s your final mandatory partner so availability is a downside 13. Vivian-she is good against defensive enemies but her damage output on regular foes is lower than other partners. You get her a little late. If Veil worked like Outta Sight she’d be WAY higher. 12. Bombette-a lot of costly damage. She’s earlier than everyone below her she’s just unfortunately immediately outclassed by 11. Parakarry-immediately shows up and outclasses Bombette. Thanks. He is useful, you just wished you had him earlier. A tier: 10. Lakilester-very late, but he actually has some nice tools in his kit that make him stand out relative to the other 64 partners. 9. Goombario-highest single target damage possible on a partner, but it requires a lot of setup. He’s fine, you don’t mind using him, you just wished he was Goombella. 8. Kooper-available nice and early, nice high damage, and gets redemption in Ch7 against all the ice enemies. Very nice, 7. Flurrie-Gale Force is a move that will almost always autokill 1 enemy and is better against flying enemies, so it ends up being better than you think. Her other moves are fine, her tankiness is nice, Liplock can do some funny stuff against bosses. She’s great at what she tries to do which is to be a tank, it’s just not what you want to be doing most of the time. S tier: 6. Sushi-remember how Parakarry outclassed Bombette? Sushi outclasses Parakarry. Insane damage with cyclemashing, good all around dps, and can give Mario defense. A bit late, but she’s certainly a good pick. 5. Watt-high damage and para. That’s kinda it, but it’s all Watt really needs, especially given her availability. 4. Koops-best partner for a casual run without peril, insane damage really early on and can provide defensive utility for Mario. SS tier: 3. Kid Yoshi-the only partner in TTYD that can solo the game in a vacuum. Really good DPS with stampede, early availability, some funny niche nonsense you can pull with gulp and egg toss. Great partner. 2. Goombella-Rally Wink lets Mario act twice and Multibonk is insane single target damage. You get her first btw. Absolutely insane, best partner in TTYD. SSS tier: 1. Bow-Outta Sight alone is enough to get her this high, imagine Rally Wink and Veil for only 2FP. She’s also a great attacker that outclasses the 64 cast in almost every way. Best partner.
My favorite from 64 is bow because of her overworld and battle abilities, TTYD would be Vivian because of her personality, Super is Bowser, and TOK is Bobby...
Funny how my least used TTYD partner (besides Ms. Mowz because I ended up recruiting her late) ended up being #1. I just don't find Gulp to be consistently useful; there's a lot of enemies that it doesn't work on; and I couldn't get the button inputs of Mini-Egg right. Needless to say I chose not to fully upgrade him. You also did not mention that Ms. Mowz's slap ignores enemy defense by default, which I think makes her undeserving of the bottom spot even if I used her less than Mini-Yoshi.
Honestly outside Mowz I think Yoshi isn't so good either I have him maxed in abilities and Ground Pound can't break most defenses for some reason, Gulp isn't useful on some enemies, mini egg was never useful for me and Stampede is kind of like Ground Pound from what I recall Trust me Yoshi is my favorite Mario character but its unfortunate I can't get his moves to work
So, I'm not sure if anyone else has already talked about it, but I'm going to do it anyway--I think Flurrie should be higher on the list. You didn't mention that she actually has the second highest amount of HP out of all partners, loosing to Bobbery but only 5 (when maxed out), so she can take more hits too. However, with her Lip Lock replenishing her own HP as well, I would argue that she can take more hits than he can. Her Gale Force works about as well as any other partner's "all enemy attacking" moves and what most people don't seem to know is that Gale Force has an increased chance of getting rid of flying enemies. Her Dodgy Fog is also a lot more useful than it seems too because she can always make Mario Dodgy (if the commands were made correctly) where as a player is not always going to have a Dodgy Cape (the item) or might have already used them previously. Flurrie is a very good tank and with her being able to potentially get rid of annoying/tough enemies easily (both Gale Force and Lip Lock piercing defense to kill enemies faster), being able to take many hits (2nd highest HP and Lip Lock restoring HP to continue to take more hits) and being able to make Mario Dodgy (which is a 50% chance to dodge ALL attacks) at any time once the move is obtained, I would say Flurrie is the best at protecting Mario when he's in danger than any other partner. After all, we all know that if he goes down, it's an instant Game Over. So many people sleep on her as a useful partner... Xp I think I agree with the rest of your list tho! :)
She is actually my favorite partner in TTYD. And I agree that she is underrated asf. Gale Force also grants star points. I recommend using Gale Force against mainly flying and fire enemies since they’re weaker to it. Lip Lock piercing defense and healing Flurrie’s HP is really awesome for only 3 FP. But Dodgy Fog is only useful for Boss Battles. But Flurrie and Yoshi are my top two favorite partners. While Parakarry and Sushie are my favorites in the first Paper Mario.
I know you cant use partners ability and they instead randomly trigger in Origami king but i would still call them partners especially the professor toad, so i think they would earn their spots in this ranking
Lakilester is one of the only two partners that can still damage Bowser even in his invincible star rod form. I love you Nathaniel but it seems like you didnt think this too much through.
This is just a fun piece of trivia and not an actual point in Lakilester’s favor. You would literally always use peach beam on bowser once he Star rod’s himself, because if you don’t he’ll do double damage to you. And while he and Watt can damage a powered up Bowser, it’s for 1 point of damage. So you really should never be attacking powered up Bowser under any circumstances.
i'm sorry no hate to bandy as a creator but this list is trash, goombario is OP if you use his charge upgrade, which ups his attack by 2 and only takes 1 FP. charge him around 6x and the boss is half dead if not entirely
I agree. Even though it doesn’t have much health, it can’t break in the middle of a turn so it can potential protect against 30 damage if it is all dealt in one turn.
If we're going by combat mine would be 1. Goombella 2. Yoshi 3. Bow 4. Koops 5. Watt 6. Sushie 7. Flurrie 8. Vivian 9. Kooper 10. Bobbery 11. Goombario 12. Parakarry 13. Lakilester 14. Bombette 15. Ms Mowz Its worth noting Yoshi and Bow are interchangeable.
You're massively underrating Vivian. She has the single best move in the game: Fiery Jinx. And her normal attack, Shadow Fist, is also very powerful. As a combat-partner, she's an absolute powerhouse. As an out-of-battle partner, she's fine, but her fighting capabilities are insanely good.
I'd rank Flurrie higher. Gale Force works very consistently on aerial foes, which frequently group together, and works often enough to be worth consideration against grounded foes that aren't overtly heavy. Any stragglers that it fails to blow away can then be downed by Mario. Lip Lock also makes her near unkillable during boss fights, preventing the possibility of partners using up your life shrooms. Otherwise good and well-researched stuff. I derived lots of catharsis from someone finally acknowledging that enemies blown away by Gale Force DO give star points.
Since I only know the games in German, it's really interesting to see how different the names of the characters are! Like Vivian is called Barbara in the German version. Just to say one of the changes.
My ranking: 15. Flurrie (besides Dodgy Fog in some scenarios, she has literally no benefit) 14. Lakilester (like Flurrie, but objectively better in every single way) 13. Goombario (like Goombella, but worse in every way) 12. Ms. Mowz (Love Slap is the only benefit, but it’s a pretty big one since it ignores defense) 11. Parakarry (decent, but kind of gimmicky, and there are way better options) 10. Bombette (that’s a lot of damage) 9. Bobbery (like Bombette, but slightly better due to his defensive options) 8. Kooper (a more gimmicky version of Koops) 7. Koops (slightly better than Kooper thanks to Shell Shield and defense-ignoring Shell Slam) 6. Sushie (combine great offense, great defense, and elemental coverage, and you’ve got a jack of all trades) 5. Watt (one of the best support partners in the series) 4. Yoshi (can deal a crap ton of damage, pierce defense with Gulp, drop attack with Mini-Egg, but gets walled by high-defense opponents) 3. Bow (effectively a combination of Yoshi and Vivian) 2. Vivian (good damage, elemental coverage, a defense-piercing AOE attack, and the ability to confuse enemies makes her an absolute menace) 1. Goombella (the same as Goombario, but the useless Charge move is replaced by Rally Wink, which is incredibly broken due to Mario’s versatility-also Multibonk is still very good)
I think you should’ve counted personality and design too along with Tippi, Peach, Luigi, Bowser, Kersti, Huey, Olivia, Bobby, Professor Toad, Kamek, and Jr.
To me my favorite partners are Koops, Vivian and Bobbery. Koops was my 3rd favorite, I know his attacks don’t do much but his Shell Slam ability ability was and looked total badass, and heck it can even ignore an enemy’s defense (it’s really useful against the shadow queen). And Vivian was my second favorite, I did feel bad for her cause of how Beldam always mistreated her and blame her for everything that she did on her own , but her attacks were super cool, and the firey jinx was a real good move, somehow it even does more damage than Shell Slam. Plus we can use her veil ability to hide from enemies so we don’t have to go into battle. And Bobbery was my top favorite, I actually felt for him after hearing his backstory and everything but after he joined us he was even a bigger goat than Baby Yoshi (don’t hate me for saying that), cause his explosive attacks deal a lot of damage, and his Bob ombast is the most powerful attack in the game, the FP price was outrageous but still good
Your Kooper placement makes no sense. You complained about item redundancy with Mowz and Flurrie but not him? Moreover, Koops build has much more utility with his defense boost which is a top tier move between the two games and his defense-piercing ground attack. Also this applies to both of them (and Parakarry) but you didn't mention, they have an extra defense point that makes them have more utility than most of the crew.
Gotta say I don’t agree with mini-yoshi as #1. They’re great so long as the enemies have no defense, but even one point makes most of their moves useless. I’ve been running the pit of 100 trials a lot lately and I keep finding myself coming back to Bobbery and Vivian, with Goombella sprinkled in when I need to do something crazy. I adore mini-yoshi to no end but their combat utility is just too limited.
Bow’s Out of Sight gives Mario two attacks for cheap, making her the best partner. Turn 1: Mario attacks, Bow uses Out of Sight so Mario takes no damage. Turn 2: Mario attacks again, then takes damage. This means that Bow actually means you have 2 Marios, since you attack twice before taking one hit.
Madam Flurrie may not be the best but she helped me a lot and saved me from Bone tails in the Pits of 100 trials. With Lip Locke, she can peel and tank for Mario. Although you need lots of FP but you can manage with badges that recover FP or earn some star power for sweet feast. Overall she is great for boss battles.

Vivian’s all around good. I hoard FP for difficult fights, so any partner that has a solid basic attack against a variety of enemies

Funny thing about the yoshi's stampede attack: the description says that it attacks ground based enemies. This makes you think that it can't hit aerial opponents but, no, it can still hit them. It's odd that it does a thing that the description says it can't.

It never said that it couldn’t. It doesn’t say that it can’t attack aerial enemies, it only says it attacks ground based enemies, but doesn’t say anything about aerial enemies.
Aerial enemies have two planes to sit in. One at ground level and one up higher. Boos change planes for example. If they’re at ground level, the yoshi stampede will reach them, despite being aerial.

Nah, that's just for stuff like Hammer and Koops' moves, Stampede legit just hits everything, airborne or not.
Gotta hard disagree on Bobbery’s placement. His HP and damage output help him absolutely obliterate late-game enemy lineups. Yeah, the FP use is limiting, but it’s honestly not too difficult to gain more FP in the middle of combat
And Bomb doesn’t cost FP like Bombette. Seriously, that’s just stupid.

Imagine being outclassed by a tiny Yoshi.
Yoshi is stupid broken. Especially with charge. I remember just charging a bunch to overkill bosses with ground pound.
His ground pound is basically a free power bounce, if you get a charge badge for him, his 6-hit combo could deal over 21 damage without even trying.
I never played those games but I hope he comes back in the next paper Mario game and is still the exact same to keep his spot on the top of this teir list with better graphics.

That was my reaction. I used Bobbery almost as much as I used Vivian or my kid yoshi in battle. Granted, he is the last partner you get, so maybe if he was earlier he’d be more OP.

people say he uses too much FP but your not gonna need any FP after you one hit every boss with bob-ombast, and he gets rid of the smoke which is a huge lifesaver for me
Mega Rush P makes cheaper multitarget moves way more efficient than bobbery
Yes he does a lot of damage but he uses a lot of fp, if you have attack increasing badges, and especially mega rush p, stampede is literally better bob-ombast as it costs less and will do lots of damage

If I recall correctly, Ms. Mowz's core conceit is that she ignores defense. I'm not sure if this matters (more powerful specials probably beat simple standard attacks in most cases), but I should think that both item-steal and defense-ignorance would make for a decent Pit-run character.

The way multibonk/ power bounce caps work is interesting. From Mario Wiki: "Goombario's Multibonk uses a cap system that forces the attack to end, like Mario's Power Bounce. This value does not get reset after an attack, causing the move to cap much earlier when used multiple times in a battle. The value is reset after either switching partners or entering another battle."
So Goombario can end up having a very low limit on the number of multibonks he can do unless you switch partners after he uses the attack

This was interesting to watch. As someone who's spent a lot of time challenge running this game, I always like to see how other players rank certain facets of the battle system. I'd say I agree with most of this list's placements, although I would personally rank Koops higher. I think Power Shell and Shell Shield are worth more than you're giving them. If you've ever watched a Pre-Hooktail pit run, you'll see just how much mass destruction Power Shell is capable of, and for only 3 FP as well. Shell Shield is one of the best defensive moves in the game, since even when it reaches 0 HP, it will always absorb one full attack. That makes it great for sponging especially strong moves. It also prevents any status problems.

While this was a great video and I enjoyed it, I have to disagree with the way you ranked them. They also have abilities outside of battle that you neglected to take into account, in addition you also either didn't mention or, more likely, didn't know that Ms. Mowz's basic attack ignores defense. In addition to her ability to sniff out treasures I would have personally ranked her higher.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that Bobbery's attack removes the fog stage hazard. That was actually a lifesaver for me.

I definitely agree with Number 1. But for a controversial opinion, when judging PM partners by their personalities and backstories however Lady Bow is my least favorite of them all; specifically for unjustifiably bullying Tubba Blubba and, if I may add, BLACKMAILING Mario into helping her especially since she and her Boos stubbornly captured one of the Star Spirits!

I feel like I’m the only one who thinks that Flurrie is one of the best partners in the game. Gale force giving out star points is unbelievably useful against the harder enemies in the game (embers, and those stupid clouds) Lip Lock has come IN CLUTCH against Bonetail, which Flurrie almost single-handedly destroyed in my play-through because being able to heal herself came mighty useful. Tbh I didn’t use dodgy fog all that much but the other other 2 moves alone are enough for me to put Flurrie so high on my personal list.
Nope I also love Flurrie as character and in battle. Gale Force and Lip Lock alone are her best moves and I do use them consistently. Also underestimated as a partner sadly but its fine.

I absolutely adore Vivian, I love her as a character. She’s a trans Queen and She’s amazing.
It angers me that her original backstory was changed in the English version. I remember not learning that Vivian was transgender until _wayyyyyy_ after I finished the game. On top of that, she's useful both inside and outside of battle. Vivian fans unite!!

You forgot to mention that coops also can get knocked down like any other Koopa, meaning he's best against ground enemies and weak against anything that can Bonk him. He's actually my favorite character to use as a partner just for his defense and defensive options.
I love how the “Paper Mario Club”’s image is just Vivian, since it is the actual best representation of the TTYD comunity as a whole.

Bro I think you’re wrong about Madame Flurrie. She is extremely useful and was a real MVP in my playthrough. The fact the she can essentially instantly defeat enemies makes a lot of sections way easier. She’s also a tank able to withstand a ton of attacks, not to mention lip lock piercing through defenses to do 6 damage and healing you. Just thought it could be fun to explain why I believe Flurrie is one of the best.
I agree she is my favorite partner along with Yoshi. She is often overlooked in the fandom

I've been playing ttyd this past month and I think Flurrie's kind of underrated. She's been really useful on bosses like Smorg and Cortez who have parts that break off/have HP of their own that you need to take out. She simultaneously attacks and replenishes herself with lip lock and gale force saves time just blowing those extra sentient limbs away. My strategy in a lot of these fights has been use Flurrie to suck away HP/blow away limbs and then use Mario conservatively on the FP to deal damage while their defenses are lowered.
It wasn't until I was fighting Marilyn and Beldam with Doopliss that I've found my limits with her in a boss fight, but I hadn't attained the ultra stone yet. I definitely can't argue your #1 spot, I'll say that much!
Anything Flurrie can do can be done better by other partners.
Madame Flurrie was someone who I was always told was bad, but that liplock ability is just super good. It is very efficient for dealing damage and healing esp since it ignores defense. I think she has pretty solid stats as well. She honestly carried me through the 100 floor pit area when I decided to just try it out on a whim with no preparation at all

Vivian is my fave, but i much more heavily factor in their story role, design and personality than you did (she's also one of my favorites battle-wise too tho)

In N64 the only 4 partners I used were watt,bombette,lady bow, and parakarry I'm glad at least one of my favorites from n64 made it to the top and the only people I used in ttyd were goombella,Bobbery, and kid Yoshi I would name him jalapeno cause his attacks are on fire plus I'm glad he made top 5 but I thought Bobbery would make it higher considering how much damage he can cause
Power Plus was only for Mario in Paper Mario 64, it's The Thousand-Year Door that added P(artner) Badges.
Other than that, this was a pretty good list overall! Also, any chance to hear somebody talk about Paper Mario is welcome in my book.

15. Ms Mows-only useful to steal badges post chapter 5 and she can’t even always do it. Horrible.
B tier:
14. Admiral Bobbery-great power but very expensive and he’s your final mandatory partner so availability is a downside
13. Vivian-she is good against defensive enemies but her damage output on regular foes is lower than other partners. You get her a little late. If Veil worked like Outta Sight she’d be WAY higher.
12. Bombette-a lot of costly damage. She’s earlier than everyone below her she’s just unfortunately immediately outclassed by
11. Parakarry-immediately shows up and outclasses Bombette. Thanks. He is useful, you just wished you had him earlier.
A tier:
10. Lakilester-very late, but he actually has some nice tools in his kit that make him stand out relative to the other 64 partners.
9. Goombario-highest single target damage possible on a partner, but it requires a lot of setup. He’s fine, you don’t mind using him, you just wished he was Goombella.
8. Kooper-available nice and early, nice high damage, and gets redemption in Ch7 against all the ice enemies. Very nice,
7. Flurrie-Gale Force is a move that will almost always autokill 1 enemy and is better against flying enemies, so it ends up being better than you think. Her other moves are fine, her tankiness is nice, Liplock can do some funny stuff against bosses. She’s great at what she tries to do which is to be a tank, it’s just not what you want to be doing most of the time.
S tier:
6. Sushi-remember how Parakarry outclassed Bombette? Sushi outclasses Parakarry. Insane damage with cyclemashing, good all around dps, and can give Mario defense. A bit late, but she’s certainly a good pick.
5. Watt-high damage and para. That’s kinda it, but it’s all Watt really needs, especially given her availability.
4. Koops-best partner for a casual run without peril, insane damage really early on and can provide defensive utility for Mario.
SS tier:
3. Kid Yoshi-the only partner in TTYD that can solo the game in a vacuum. Really good DPS with stampede, early availability, some funny niche nonsense you can pull with gulp and egg toss. Great partner.
2. Goombella-Rally Wink lets Mario act twice and Multibonk is insane single target damage. You get her first btw. Absolutely insane, best partner in TTYD.
SSS tier:
1. Bow-Outta Sight alone is enough to get her this high, imagine Rally Wink and Veil for only 2FP. She’s also a great attacker that outclasses the 64 cast in almost every way. Best partner.

Funny how my least used TTYD partner (besides Ms. Mowz because I ended up recruiting her late) ended up being #1. I just don't find Gulp to be consistently useful; there's a lot of enemies that it doesn't work on; and I couldn't get the button inputs of Mini-Egg right. Needless to say I chose not to fully upgrade him.
You also did not mention that Ms. Mowz's slap ignores enemy defense by default, which I think makes her undeserving of the bottom spot even if I used her less than Mini-Yoshi.
Honestly outside Mowz I think Yoshi isn't so good either I have him maxed in abilities and Ground Pound can't break most defenses for some reason, Gulp isn't useful on some enemies, mini egg was never useful for me and Stampede is kind of like Ground Pound from what I recall
Trust me Yoshi is my favorite Mario character but its unfortunate I can't get his moves to work

So, I'm not sure if anyone else has already talked about it, but I'm going to do it anyway--I think Flurrie should be higher on the list.
You didn't mention that she actually has the second highest amount of HP out of all partners, loosing to Bobbery but only 5 (when maxed out), so she can take more hits too. However, with her Lip Lock replenishing her own HP as well, I would argue that she can take more hits than he can. Her Gale Force works about as well as any other partner's "all enemy attacking" moves and what most people don't seem to know is that Gale Force has an increased chance of getting rid of flying enemies.
Her Dodgy Fog is also a lot more useful than it seems too because she can always make Mario Dodgy (if the commands were made correctly) where as a player is not always going to have a Dodgy Cape (the item) or might have already used them previously.
Flurrie is a very good tank and with her being able to potentially get rid of annoying/tough enemies easily (both Gale Force and Lip Lock piercing defense to kill enemies faster), being able to take many hits (2nd highest HP and Lip Lock restoring HP to continue to take more hits) and being able to make Mario Dodgy (which is a 50% chance to dodge ALL attacks) at any time once the move is obtained, I would say Flurrie is the best at protecting Mario when he's in danger than any other partner. After all, we all know that if he goes down, it's an instant Game Over.
So many people sleep on her as a useful partner... Xp

She is actually my favorite partner in TTYD. And I agree that she is underrated asf. Gale Force also grants star points. I recommend using Gale Force against mainly flying and fire enemies since they’re weaker to it. Lip Lock piercing defense and healing Flurrie’s HP is really awesome for only 3 FP. But Dodgy Fog is only useful for Boss Battles. But Flurrie and Yoshi are my top two favorite partners. While Parakarry and Sushie are my favorites in the first Paper Mario.
Vivian is by far my favourite. Veil was such a powerful move during the Final Battles of Thousand Year Door, and her burns were so great.
Nathaniel Bandy: I will only include partners from Paper Mario 64 and TTYD since you can control them.

Lakilester is one of the only two partners that can still damage Bowser even in his invincible star rod form. I love you Nathaniel but it seems like you didnt think this too much through.
This is just a fun piece of trivia and not an actual point in Lakilester’s favor. You would literally always use peach beam on bowser once he Star rod’s himself, because if you don’t he’ll do double damage to you. And while he and Watt can damage a powered up Bowser, it’s for 1 point of damage. So you really should never be attacking powered up Bowser under any circumstances.

I agree. Even though it doesn’t have much health, it can’t break in the middle of a turn so it can potential protect against 30 damage if it is all dealt in one turn.

Its worth noting Yoshi and Bow are interchangeable.
You're massively underrating Vivian. She has the single best move in the game: Fiery Jinx. And her normal attack, Shadow Fist, is also very powerful. As a combat-partner, she's an absolute powerhouse. As an out-of-battle partner, she's fine, but her fighting capabilities are insanely good.
Try using stampede with power rush p or mega rush p, way more efficient
I'd rank Flurrie higher. Gale Force works very consistently on aerial foes, which frequently group together, and works often enough to be worth consideration against grounded foes that aren't overtly heavy. Any stragglers that it fails to blow away can then be downed by Mario. Lip Lock also makes her near unkillable during boss fights, preventing the possibility of partners using up your life shrooms.
Otherwise good and well-researched stuff. I derived lots of catharsis from someone finally acknowledging that enemies blown away by Gale Force DO give star points.
I also believe that Flurrie should be ranked higher as well. Gale Force and Lip Lock alone aren’t complimented imo.
Lady Bow is by far my favorite partner to use! Sassy and great attacks!
Since I only know the games in German, it's really interesting to see how different the names of the characters are! Like Vivian is called Barbara in the German version. Just to say one of the changes.

Koops was my 3rd favorite, I know his attacks don’t do much but his Shell Slam ability ability was and looked total badass, and heck it can even ignore an enemy’s defense (it’s really useful against the shadow queen). And Vivian was my second favorite, I did feel bad for her cause of how Beldam always mistreated her and blame her for everything that she did on her own , but her attacks were super cool, and the firey jinx was a real good move, somehow it even does more damage than Shell Slam. Plus we can use her veil ability to hide from enemies so we don’t have to go into battle. And Bobbery was my top favorite, I actually felt for him after hearing his backstory and everything but after he joined us he was even a bigger goat than Baby Yoshi (don’t hate me for saying that), cause his explosive attacks deal a lot of damage, and his Bob ombast is the most powerful attack in the game, the FP price was outrageous but still good

Your Kooper placement makes no sense. You complained about item redundancy with Mowz and Flurrie but not him? Moreover, Koops build has much more utility with his defense boost which is a top tier move between the two games and his defense-piercing ground attack. Also this applies to both of them (and Parakarry) but you didn't mention, they have an extra defense point that makes them have more utility than most of the crew.

Gotta say I don’t agree with mini-yoshi as #1. They’re great so long as the enemies have no defense, but even one point makes most of their moves useless. I’ve been running the pit of 100 trials a lot lately and I keep finding myself coming back to Bobbery and Vivian, with Goombella sprinkled in when I need to do something crazy. I adore mini-yoshi to no end but their combat utility is just too limited.

Bow’s Out of Sight gives Mario two attacks for cheap, making her the best partner. Turn 1: Mario attacks, Bow uses Out of Sight so Mario takes no damage. Turn 2: Mario attacks again, then takes damage. This means that Bow actually means you have 2 Marios, since you attack twice before taking one hit.
I've heard it said that people playing TTYD only use 2 partners, Yoshi to move around, and Vivian for combat
Madam Flurrie may not be the best but she helped me a lot and saved me from Bone tails in the Pits of 100 trials. With Lip Locke, she can peel and tank for Mario. Although you need lots of FP but you can manage with badges that recover FP or earn some star power for sweet feast. Overall she is great for boss battles.
How is GOOMBELLA of all partners ahead of Koops and Vivian?!? Shes basically Goombario but a girl! I get the extra turn but ypu could use a boo sheet
