I find it funny how the final Excadrill set used in B2W2 speedruns is basically just a standard OU set (Adamant SD Quake Iron Head Rock Slide). The only big difference is that it has Sand Force as its ability, because it lets it you 2HKO a specific Magnemite with Mud Slap. I'm pretty sure using a stronger Ground move would trigger Sturdy and cause the trainer use a potion. Either that or Drilbur doesn't have good Ground STAB at that point. It's been a while since I saw the run.

I never understood why they had weather abilities as permernant. It was alright when only two pokemon had drought and drizzle but giving it to others without a nerf was a mistake. Making so many buffs to sand was also crazy
It was because Sand and hail had no offensive exploits prior to gen 5 and Rain/Sun we’re only available on two mons who were restricted. Politoed, Ninetales, Sand Rush/Sand Force were all that was needed to break weather.

Words can't describe how much I adore Excadrill. Gen V introduced some of my favorite Pokemon ever. Sand Rush sweeps were so much fun while Mold Breaker sets obliterated any Rotom-W, Bronzong or Latis thinking they're getting a free switch in. Excadrill is even better in SwSh because of the rapid spin buff. I hope Excadrill continues to be a staple in every gen.

Why are mole pokémon always so badass? Both excadrill and dugtrio have managed to get themselves banned from OU at least once.
Tbh, I actually wish Smogon would be recognized by Nintendo as an official Pokémon competitive scene so people would not only think of VGC when they think of Pokémon competitive and actually maybe bring more people into official competitive.

"Kick in to first gear" is not something one does to accelerate. High speeds are universally achieved through gears with higher numbers.
Maybe in this case Excadrill has very long gearing and 1st is needed for quick acceleration

I get really tired of the bad use of idiomatic phrases and mispronunciations of words in these videos. Its so clear he's reading from a script somebody else wrote and there was never any read through to figure out what the thing's he's reading actually even mean.
The godlike power of Excadrill was one of the reasons I finally started taking EV training and breeding seriously in Gen V.
I remember being a kid and grinding out my Emboar so it outspeed Clay's Exadrill and killed it with flame charge.
Until which level? Emboar needs a high speed stat to outspeed Excaaaaaaaadrill

Excadrill is so potent a partner to Tyranitar that it may have been the one thing keeping Ttar from falling out of OU. And now that it's gone, Ttar has fallen out...all the way to RU.
35 minutes and 51 seconds! Yeah Excadrill was great. This video makes me want to see a remake of T-Tar as well as a Hippowdon vid.
T tar’s gonna have a sad end as gen 8 has shown us...but the old man has had many generations of fame and glory, so putting him out to pasture was inevitable.

My favorite Pokémon ever
Words can't describe how much I adore Excadrill. Gen V introduced some of my favorite Pokemon ever. Sand Rush sweeps were so much fun while Mold Breaker sets obliterated any Rotom-W, Bronzong or Latis thinking they're getting a free switch in. Excadrill is even better in SwSh because of the rapid spin buff. I hope Excadrill continues to be a staple in every gen.

It helped that Excadrill was such a competitive force, but man it's just one of my favorite all-time Pokemon because of how freaking cool it is.
Excadrill’s career: The Sandstorm Champion. Whenever sandstorm is up, Excadrill brings out either power or speed. He broke the mold of his foes. His strength has gifted him the respect and assistance of Togekiss, Salamence, and especially Tyranitar. Even the legendary Pokémon respect the mole’s skill. Landorus, a rival/enemy to Excadrill, has admitted that he is impressed at the drill’s strength but that doesn’t mean he’ll be overtaking the genie any time soon. When asked about what he will do as the competitive battles grow and evolve, Excadrill had this to say “I’m just gonna dig a hole to success. Just like I do every Gen.”
