Both of these mons just need to find the right format and team to be used. @@MoxieBoosted Disagree on the regigigas (and slaking) part, them being super strong but weighed down by their ability definitely puts them in solid gimmick territory
I think Houndstone deserves a mention thanks to it's signature move, Last Respects. It is a physical ghost move with 50 base power, but gains an additional 50 power for every allied pokemon that faints, even if it is subsequently revived. In a normal match, it's expected that this will be the last pokemon on the team, swinging a 300 power physical ghost attack each turn. While cumbersome to do and absolutely overkill, the move can go up to 5050 power after 100 allied faints, where it caps.
Can you imagine if Ditto had the same base stat total, but 10-40 each were taken out of Attack and Special Attack and put into Speed and HP? It'd actually be kinda good if it could reliably Transform quicker and had more HP than most mons it transforms into in exchange for always being a turn late.

Also, remember when Psych up was relevant enough that Kyogres were running it.
Another notable gimmick is Bad Dreams from Darkrai. In early generations, it basically allows the inflicting of sleep via Dark Void to be a way to apply chip damage since you are causing passive damage. From breaking Focus Sash, to revealing speeds on opposing Pokemon to allowing you to scout Lum Berry this gimmick just made Darkrai go from a powerful Pokemon to being extremely punishing to switch into before sleep clause activates. Even with the Dark Void nerf, this is still potent enough that it contributes to Darkrai being far too strong for OU in case its amazing stats wasn't enough.
I'd say that neutralizing gas weezing also counts as a gimmick pokemon, since the ability is entirely dependant on interacting with the abilities of others (which you can't control), or interacting with your own team (which you can control, but the there's only 2 which is worth interacting with in this manner, both which are gimmick pokemon in their own rights)
It’s kind of unfortunate there was no mention of the tatsugiri/dondozo double gimmick where you get a toxic endure tatsugiri enter into commander, faint, then have an omniboosted Dondozo WITH an ally. Gimmick on top of a gimmick.

And wonderguard is why we will never see Shedinja in Paldea, its biggest weakness is its typing, but when ever you can become a type that very few people come prepared for, then suddenly nothing can hit you outside of Status ailments or the one damage dealing weather, Sandstorm
A shame because the introduction of Heavy-Duty Boots allows Shedinja to ignore entry hazards, and Hail was replaced by Snow in gen 9 but nobody used Hail anyway.
