I really love how real and authentic your travel is. So many travel vloggers start having adventures that are pretty unachievable or unrealistic for us “normal people”. It’s so cool getting to tag along!
I can’t remember when I’ve enjoyed a RUclips video as much as this, and I’ve enjoyed ALL your videos. We will take the trek to Peru and Machu Picchu soon but will for sure take the train both up and down. Your trips are so inspiring and adventurous - I enjoy them so much! In early January we’re going to Cozumel and we look forward to it. We’re in our late 60s and still are very active travelers! Happy holidays and Merry Christmas!
I love the way you approach drinking and going out. You go enjoy yourself, don’t feel guilty and go with the flow of the travels and show that a few drinks can be apart of an amazing experience :) thank you for showing us all that side of things
I’ve booked a one way flight to South America and your channel/ videos have become my bible for the solo female around South America. Especially the what to pack videos! All of the appreciation to you!! Thanks
Christianne….I enjoyed this as usual of your videos. You are such a great travel host, photographer, editor. You also have a great smile and personality. After watching several of your videos, I subscribed. Thanks for sharing.
After climbing Mt. Fuji last summer in 2024, I want to challenge myself by trekking the Inca or Salkantay trail to Machu Picchu. Visiting Machu Picchu is on my bucket list, and I was amazed by your vlog-I never knew it was possible to hike there! All I knew was the easy way to take a commute.
Thank you so much for taking us along on this adventure. Been pondering doing the trek and this video definitely made it more appealing! All the tips and info at the end was super helpful too!
Good videos you have. These are actually useful travel videos since you go over the logistics involved. You manage to keep everything relatively entertaining also.
Came here to get some inspirations on my next trip to Thailand and still watching. Man Salkantay has changed, I ate sweat potatoes only, cooked in a undergound fire, staying at 4400 meters crossing the glacier, going up from the lake, which is not just a beautiful lagoon, it use to be where the highest priest of Machu Pichu cleansed themself and meditated. Up the galacier there was a Shrine holding high value relics and three golden eggs. So more uphill another 400 meters in altitude, I have never seen such a great sky at night ever again. Kinda sad on seeing how tourism has improved but wow I would love to meet you on my travels once, you are like the ideal backpacker to meet, cunning, smart, using maps instead of guides and just be you in full glory, big thumbs up for you girl!
My mom and I did this trek with Salkantay Trekking and the extra 200 dollars is so worth it IMO. The campsites were so nice! The sky domes were my favorite. Their schedule is a little different the first day so we got the lake all to ourselves.
I stumbled upon your RUclips when you were in Thailand, I've kept watching for cool tips for travelling and this video is EXACTLY what I was after next. The way you explain in detail sharing links costs etc is exceptional and really does make it easier for ppl like myself with cognitive issues, to get our scattery heads around organising trips. Thank You, You're Ace!! 🎉
just started to watch all your hiking videos and susbscribed! sorry if you have already mentioned it but can you please comment on which time of the year you went? Also for a first timer like myself, do you recommend the inca trail over the salkantay? thanks!
I gladly made time for this wonderful video! It goes great with a cup of coffee. I really loved this hike -- loads of fun. I can't wait to see more of the South American continent...I never knew it was so beautiful there!
I went to Machu Pichu in 1998 before you had to book and it seemed a lot more relaxed I'd love to have done the trek you did though. What an experience. Brilliant vlog ❤
I went to Peru and climbed Macchu Picchu in 2005 to raise money for age concern charity one of the best things I have ever done. We did the Inca trail something I will never forget.
Really good video and very informative! So sorry you had to deal with protestors! Great information about competitive tour companies! Thanks for sharing!
I did this trek in 2016 to raise money for Make A Wish UK, and it was the best experience of my life so far ! I'm so glad you've chosen this trek, I feel that it's too overlooked by people when they go to Peru :/ Anyway congrats on finishing the trek !! :D
That’s awesome! See I think there has been a bit of a pivot! Almost every backpacker I met has done or is doing the Salkantay and I barely met any backpackers doing the Inca Trail!
I just found your channel and am enjoying the Peru content very much! I am planning a similar trip myself and was wondering what time of the year were you in peru? Cheers@
Hi, just loved your video. On my bucket list for sure. Kind of reminds me on when I did Tour Mont Blanc in September. What time of the year did you do this hike?
They seem to love their soups in South America , every tour you’ve been on has seemed to serve it. Not something I would have expected but i love me some soup so I’d certainly have no complaints Im so sorry the trek was so hectic, seems counterintuitive to even have a trail that does not reach the top of machu pichu. I followed this whole thing on insta and I remember thinking that was a bit of a scam 😂 hope all is well, love your vids so much ❤
This has been my no.1 trek to do!!! I have a knee injury so I'm so afraid I won't be strong enough to so it!! But I look forward to watching more on my break at work!!! 💛💛💛💛
So nice to see your full hike. Totally reminds me on my own Salkantay Trek with the same operator in 2018. Everything looks the same except that we have tents at the second campsite. 😅 Cheers, Carry
Hey, you’ve motivated me to save and travel and I’m happy to say I’m going backpacking Cali, Colombia and I would love to be able to vlog my trip. If you see this message I would love to learn some tips and tricks for vlogging.
Loving the videos, they're getting me excited for my trip to Peru! In terms of weather, would you say it's still worth taking the Salkantay in mid-November?
This was November ☺️ it was very cold at night and at the super high altitudes! But very warm at the lower altitudes and when the sun was shining in the day
I think the reason you got circuit 4 is because you chose Waynapicchu and that mountain is only available with circuit 4 (which is BS :/).. I am going in May and my arrival day I got the circuit 2 + Inca Bridge (Circuit 1&2 are the upper parts with the postcard picture sights) and my second day I bought a general ticket which lets you choose between circuit 1-4 but I'll probably choose 2 again (I bought it like this because If I have bad weather first day I'll have another chance.. I wanted circuit 2 and circuit 4 + Waynapicchu but Imagine having bad weather first day and then only be able to do the lower parts looking at the other tourists taking their postcard pictures... it sucks... I wish I had the option to choose Circuit 4 with my general ticket but add the Waynapicchu And for circuit 1 & 3 They are just shortened versions. (circuit 1 is shortened circuit 2) (circuit 3 is shortened circuit 4) and circuit 2 has almost the entire lower part of circuit 4 aswell... Again It's just a shame that I wont be able to do any mountains even though circuit 2 also passes the entrance to Waynapicchu..
I'm also going there in late May! Do you have any suggestions on how to get on circuit 1 or 2? Do you know if buying access to Montaña Machupicchu (instead of Waynapicchu) will help or hurt the chances of getting into circuits 1 or 2?
How did you find your foldable backpack over 5 days? There seems to be a mix of casual and hiking-specific backpacks in your group - did you hear any feedback from others?
I'm going in two months and your videos have really helped me feel prepared. I'm doing an adventure track which includes downhill bikes, white water rafting and zip lines. No idea how much harder that's going to make it, or if its going to break up the walking and make it a little easier.
@@BackpackingBananas awesome, Thanks. I’ve watched so many of your videos now and most of the places I’m going to in the new year you’ve been to. Quick question but did you leave most of your stuff in Cusco and just take hiking stuff? How can I put this....can you leave your backpacking bag behind or did you take everything you had for your travels with you?
of course, you can enjoy the feast of this long treat, all in one go. why not ? but i am helping myself to smaller servings of around15 minutes each day. the perfect way to start the day with my breakfast... and then, hopefully, it won't seem so long to wait for the next installment of the Backpacking Bananas adventure :)
