Hey this is a FANTASTIC video! I plan on completing this trail in January 2025 so this is a great source of information. Thank you so much for documenting your journey! Quick question though, What exactly did both of your pack back weigh? I noticed that was one thing that wasn’t specifically mentioned in the video
Thanks, so glad this has helped you so much with planning. We didn’t actually weigh our backpacks, so we’re not sure sorry. They were pretty light as we only need to carry our clothes, toiletries and enough food and water for each day 😊
It’s such a stunning hike! Yes there were some bathrooms where the groups break for lunch but they were not super common. Nature wee’s are required just remember to take your toilet paper with you!!! I saw wayyy to much toilet paper littered on the trail 🫶
Incredible video guys, will help us greatly to do the salkantay trek unguided in August. Quick question though : how easy was it to find accommodation along the route? I love to plan everything in advance, and it stresses me deeply to not know where I'll sleep for the night. Again, awesome video and loved the cost breakdown at the end, super helpful
Hey Juan, that’s awesome we’re so happy to hear that! It was very easy to find accommodation along the way! I (Jacqui) know how you feel but you really won’t have a problem 🧡
Just enjoy it! The path is super easy to follow but we do recommend downloading AllTrails any way! Plus with a name like Juan I bet you speak Spanish and can easily ask for help haha
Hey. We grabbed some from a pharmacy in Cusco, not sure the brand but they can recommend something for you there, not sure if they help or not to be honest. We we're in Cusco for just 2 nights before we started trekking, I think thats okay because then you also acclimatise on the first day so technically its 3 days... I think thats how it works anyway
Thank you! Yes it’s Soraypampa Hostel, it’s not on Google Maps or I thinks it has a different name but it is directly in front of the entrance to the Humantay Lake hike, there is a little tienda out front you can’t miss it 🫶
Yes, you can buy water and food all along the trail but expect to pay more than you would in Cusco. We carried snacks but bought meals along the way. Oh except for day 2 we couldn’t find anywhere to have lunch, so buy a sandwich from the hostel you stay at on day 1 and take snacks. The market in Cusco has a lot of dried fruit and nuts which were a great snack ☺️
We cannot agree with this! We found many cheaper options of all sorts of things throughout Peru that were amazing! More expensive doesn’t always mean better unfortunately
I am Dominican meaning I come from a third world country that sustains itself thanks to tourism, therefore I understand that the people in the cusco area depend on tourism, therefore if I were to make that trip I would gladly pay 250 dollars for the trip and leave a great tip to my guides, you guys not only found the very fair 5 day trip which included food, housing and a guide to be expensive (250usd seems a pretty fair price to me) which is ok if you do not have the money, but you also try to make it look as if you didn't pay the money because you didn't want the guides or the animals to be exploited???. So the logic is that it is better to not give the guides any work? great joke. other than that, great video.
Interesting take on that. Tourism is very important to the economy but we can’t pretend that the guides are fairly paid in every company when the information clearly suggests otherwise. We found a company that did fairly pay their guides and the cost was $750USD per person. So your argument of paying $250 to support the guides is invalid because clearly those companies do not charge enough to fairly pay their guides. We supported the local economy by purchasing food from the markets and local restaurants on the route, by staying in the hostels, by booking the transport with the locals, we paid less but we know our money went directly into the pockets of the locals.
Well the name of the tour is prívate. Prívate of food and first camp no sanitarios, no clean the Rivers are poluded why do you recomendé d to drink the water of the streams the are many horses drinking that water…so, you didnt spend money to buy water? No guide in MachuPicchu no thanks. Miserable organized for a hundred dollars I prefer to go with a Company.
You guys make great videos. I don't understand why you aren't getting more attention on RUclips. You deserve better!

So beautiful, bathrooms anywhere? How do you get along so well considering the tough conditions?

Hello, what pills you took against altitude sickness? Did it work? How long you did acclimatisation in Cusco?:)

No problem ☺️
When did you hike? when do you recommend hiking?
Hey Alex we just did it late December. Temperature might change over the year but low season is good as there are less ppl
Love the video! Do you mind sharing the name of the first hostel you stayed in Soraypampa?
Thank you! Yes it’s Soraypampa Hostel, it’s not on Google Maps or I thinks it has a different name but it is directly in front of the entrance to the Humantay Lake hike, there is a little tienda out front you can’t miss it 🫶
Hi. Can you just water all along the trail?
And food?
Yes, you can buy water and food all along the trail but expect to pay more than you would in Cusco. We carried snacks but bought meals along the way. What was the actual date of this trek. trying to guess the climate from your videos
Haha this was December 21-24th. Hope that helps 😅
Thanks! making preparations for trail as well.
Let us know how you go. We always love feedback on the experiences we took part in. Good Luck 🤞
In Peru, cheap disappoint it. Therefore, it is always better to prefer what is expensive and to access what is amazing.
