  • This is an innovative design for the flapping wing mechanism of a hovering micro air vehicle. It uses a spatial six-bar linkage to provide compact packaging and coordinated control of both swing and pitch movements. This is a collaboration of Benjamin Liu and Peter Wang

    Holy moly that's impressive. How on earth do they come up with thar linkage design? Are they using some tool which has the given output as a goal and makes iterations to get closer step by step? Or is it just pure human hard labour?

    The design may be difficult to realize because there are too many moving parts. Is this mechanism realized since the design came out?

    Although Kinematics demonstration is feasible, it is very difficult to design so many connecting rods in practice
